When planning for our June wedding in Mendocino, we knew we had to get the perfect photographer, someone who could really capture the beauty of the coast and all of the vibrant colors that come along with it. After viewing tons of portfolios, Apollo's work really stood out from the rest. We loved everything we saw, from their ability to capture motion, their framing, to their vivid presentation of colors. We wanted to find a team that did photo and video for ease and alignment on our wedding day, with a skilled team we could trust, without blowing out budget. Liv is such a delight to work with too and delivered beautiful sneak peaks while we were on our honeymoon, the 700+ photos timely after, our movie trailer, and ALL video footage the day before Christmas eve (we got married October 10th). Unfortunately, I do not recommend for photography or videography. In the initial call, I really liked Liv. I expressed how much I hated pictures of myself and would need a lot of help knowing my angles to take a flattering photo. She assured me that everyone felt that way and everyone ended up looking gorgeous. When we met for the engagement shoot I liked working with her and had fun. But when we got the pictures back I was so disappointed. Out of all the photos I only liked 5 and some were blurry shots so more vibe shots than shots of me. I felt ugly and sad. My planner encouraged me to give feedback and so I prepped a full day pointing out specific things with examples so I could give clear and actionable feedback. As a fellow creative who used to shoot weddings I understood that "I look ugly" is not helpful so I came prepared. That meeting went awkwardly and Liv shared that she had never received feedback before. Afterward, she offered to change the photographer for the wedding but offered a less experienced photographer and didn't offer an engagement shoot with the new photographer so I'd be going into my wedding day blind. I figured I'd rather go into my wedding with someone who has had feedback and hoped for the best. The wedding photos were better, but I only liked about a third of them. I'm not sure if that's normal or not but honestly the wedding day felt a little phoned in. The poses were a bit cheesy and didn't feel like she took into account us as a couple or even the environment that much. I hired a different photographer for my Korean ceremony and when I got those back I felt beautiful and happy. That photographer would constantly correct my posture or my angle during the shoot and the outcome made me so happy. I'm sad I didn't get that experience on my wedding day. The wedding video was also a huge disappointment. We loved the portfolio so much and paid extra to get a copy of the entire ceremony so my husband and I could watch it every year on our anniversary. When we got the first cut of the ceremony back it was appalling - like laughably bad. There would be one shot that was beautiful and color corrected and the next shot would be extremely low quality/blurry with a color filter that looked like sepia tone. I couldn't believe it. They also only allow for 1 round of edits before they charge you, so I spent 2 days taking screenshots and recording timestamps to ensure that the video didn't feel like a random mashup of random clips. I even color corrected screenshots so I could show how different clips would match so the color correction wasn't wildly different from shot to shot. They "corrected" the video and sent it over and by then I realized that I wasn't going to get a good quality video from them and to pay for extra edits on something that felt like baseline wasn't going to happen. My husband and I can't even watch the video because the edits are so bad. They seem to spend a lot of time on the wedding videos they put on their portfolio but any extras feel like an afterthought. On top of all of that, the marketing department would spam us so much trying to upsell albums and photo prints and trying to get the contact information of our family members to try and sell to them. It got so annoying that my planner had to get all emails routed through her so I wouldn't be bombarded with spam. Also, the album design process just felt like a thinly veiled way to try and uncharge you and I didn't enjoy it all. read more

I would easily consider them the best wedding photographers/videographers in the SF bay area. Liv was our point of contact throughout the entire process and she was very responsive through email and was more than happy to schedule a call to go through logistics or any concerns we had. My wife was worried about potentially not getting everything she had in mind, and Apollo was more than happy to listen to all of our requests and concerns, and gave examples of exactly what she was looking for and how it would work out in the timeline. It was apparent from the very beginning that we had nothing to worry about and had full trust in Apollo Fotografie. They are all professionals and have a great history at so many venues within the bay area. Liv and Jasmine were our photographers, and Alexa and Reese were our videographers. They were all really accommodating and had great instructions through the whole day of the wedding. The entire day felt incredibly efficient as they knew the exact positions, angles, poses, and time things should happen. In terms of working with them, we heard nothing but praise from our bridal party. They were incredibly pleasant to be with and had fun. Even during the reception when everyone is out and about, there were a ton of great photos they took that I didn't even notice they were there for. And while I was talking to guests, I recall there were multiple occasions where Jasmine was nearby to take any requests I had. It goes without saying that I never had to hunt anyone down to grab a photo when I asked. After just a few days, Liv sent us a preview of a few photos which were stunning. We were actually surprised the fully edited video of the day was finished about 1 month after the wedding and it exceeded every single one of our expectations. It was done masterfully that we had no complains or requests for any edits. The full album of photos came a few weeks after and again, it was more beautiful than we could have imagined. Ultimately, Apollo proved why they are the best around in every aspect. The communication, professionalism, knowledge, coordination, photography/videography, and editing were all above and beyond. My husband and I are from the east coast and made the daring decision to fly across the county and elope in San Francisco. Surely enough, they did not disappoint! We hired Apollo Fotagrafie to help us with our engagement photos, and wedding photos. Through the process, we were also provided with the opportunity to select a lead photographer, and the second shooter would be appointed based on best availability. I truly appreciated this ability to select a lead photographer, we were given the opportunity to review their portfolios, and interview the photographer based on their experience and style. Thru that selection process, we selected Abbie as our lead photographer, and Wayne was our second shooter. They did a fantastic job in our photos! What I truly enjoyed about the experience was: 1. Organization They were very organized, and punctual. They (Jonathon) provided clear timelines on when things needed to be submitted (such as engagement questionnaire, wedding family shot list, wedding timeline, etc). Apollo was hands down the best photographers we could have asked for. We did our engagement shoot with Liv, Andra shot a pre-wedding party, and Liv and Shane joined us for 2 days of wedding ceremonies and receptions. We felt so unbelievably comfortable at every shoot... a huge accomplishment for us 2 awkward models! Liv told us their style was photojournalism so we shouldn't expect to be interrupted a lot during our events, and boy was that true! Apollo Fotografie was an iconic and absolutely incredible wedding photographer and videographer!!! When we were selecting our photographer, it was important to us to have a photographer that would both understand our multicultural backgrounds (I'm Chinese-American and my husband is Indian-American) including large families with diverse needs (and a lot of combinations of family portraits for the extended family) and simultaneously be able to capture our essence of taking organic and unposed photos of us in action - we loved that Apollo Fotografie was able to seamlessly do both!! We worked with Apollo for our Friday night event (an Indian wedding event called a Sangeet) and our Saturday ceremony and reception. We primarily worked with Liv as our lead photographer, who is Apollo's director of operations and client relations - she was amazing and super easy to work with; she was very communicative in the lead up to the wedding and very organized (which helped a lot because any one who has planned a wedding knows how many logistics are involved). On our wedding day, when we were running behind schedule, she was very flexible and didn't stress me out at all, but instead was a grounding force and was able to keep me calm, adapting the schedule to make sure we still were able to get all the photos we wanted (e.g. we had run out of time for family portraits of me and my parents and brother after I got ready in the morning and she remembered to carve out time for them later in the afternoon). Liv also made me feel very natural during our first look, which is such an intimate moment, and throughout the ceremony, which was super special and memorable and I'm so grateful to have it documented so well. Finally, it was pouring rain and very cold for most of our wedding day, and Liv was really creative with locations for photos and ways to work around the rain or work with the moodiness of the weather to still get really beautiful, cherished photos that we are so excited to keep looking back at for the rest of our lives! Numerous of my best friends have complimented how our photos turned out and the moments Liv was able to capture - the editing is natural and sleek and the framing both classy and creative. My friends (many of whom are also married and have planned their own weddings) have said that our wedding photos are the best they've every seen!!! The real kickers were: 1) that we specifically asked them to focus on speeches, toasts, ceremony, dancing (NOT décor)...and yet almost the whole video was of people milling about the venue, instead of our vows, first dance, and toasts. Apollo did recut it based on our request, so it's better now. And 2) we received the 90 sec short film we paid for, and they also sent us 125 uncut videos of unused footage with NO TITLES/LABELS to know what any of the videos were, including the various clips they sent us of...the ground. All the logistics was done very professionally - they have a process that they communicated to us clearly, and they are quick with their communication. They helped us craft a day-of plan and were able to work with our photographer on the day of the wedding in a very professional and strategic manner. We worked with Liv as our lead photographer for our week-long Indian wedding this past May, and she was hands down the BEST wedding photographer in San Francisco Bay Area!
