That probably should have been a clue about the type of service they provide. I came back an hour later to try to get the shirt. The store was 100% EMPTY except for the guy behind the counter. Politely asked if he minded me taking my mask off while no one else was there because I have a documented medical condition (legally exempt from the mandate) that makes it hard for me to breathe. From across the store, he told me no. I tried to explain to him I legitimately have a condition and medical documentation I could show him and that I put the mask back on if anyone else comes into the store. He told me to keep the mask on or get out. He didn't give me a reason for why he had a problem. He didn't offer me an alternative, he just was rude. Then, as I left, he sarcastically yelled out for me to "have a nice day". I've made the same request at other stores, and have NEVER been denied because I only ask when there are no other customers in the store. I even openly disclose my condition instead of just saying I'm exempt because I want them to know I'm not just trying to break the rules. It wasn't because it was an "Asheville thing" because three other stores were OK with it as long as no one else was around. I don't go in trying to cause problems. I don't try to make a statement. I just try to give my business to local shops who are willing to work with me and my disability. Once I stopped crying and shaking from the unexpected confrontation, I took my money to another store. One who helped me out instead of being intolerant and hateful. So, if you want to give your business to a place with staff who bullied a woman with an incurable disease when there was absolutely no reason to be a jerk, they may have stuff worth buying. But hey, I probably gave him a chance to brag to people how he got to throw an anti-masker out of the store. Glad one of us got something positive out of exchange.

On the flipside though, there are obvious communication issues between management and staff, and even between the staff members themselves. On more than one occasion, they've had a sign posted that promises a discount on certain items. But when you get to the register, the discount doesn't ring up and the staff acts like they know nothing about it. Another time, an employee told me to stop by the next morning because they were getting a big shipment and there would be free samples. But when I came back and asked about it, the guy looked at me like I had three heads. I don't mean to keep piling on here, but the staff also seem to lack any knowledge of the products they are selling. If I have a question about something, no one can answer it or make suggestions. They are mostly nice about it, but it gets to be a little frustrating. I suppose if you go in here knowing exactly what you want -- and you're willing to ignore the advertised discounts -- this place would be great. As it stands, however, I hope the management sees what's going on and improves upon it.

Look at my history and havent written a review a single time, never felt a need. My friend came in to town and dropped me off to get a piece for the "flower vase" we needed. Go in and am corrected on the terminology....dont call it that it's a "slider" for my "flower vase," okay respect legal language, she was clear it was a legal thing no problem doing her job. Didn't talk about smoking or anything like that so the tone was a little off but cool some places got their own terminology for legal purposes I've been around used to that respect that What was off putting about the tone though just not chill...it was way more corrective then the usual "yeah I know is what it is right just the law" vibe and much more a 2nd grade school teacher who's tired of the kid sniffing glue in the corner of the class saying stupid things vibe. So I kinda already felt a little weird but whatever we needed a piece for my set and they happened to have it, other stores did not. She rejected my friend because what my friend wanted was what I wanted, despite my her having legal ID proving she was 53, because what? She thought a 32 year old was 12 and their grandma was trying to score for them? And that 6 foot tall bearded 12 year old also has masterfully manipulated photo images of candid photos of his ID he wanted to show her? Instead of just asking his grandma to go in first because he had a person willing to go in for him from the start? Her reason was I got 7 cameras on me, blah blah blah i can get into a lot of trouble. Given the situation....the person was my friend who came in immediately after me, I was eager to show her my ID on my phone and made an honest mistake, I went in first not my literal 53 year old friend with ID which would make no sense if there was any possibility of a problem in my mind, it's incredibly delusional and although I'm sure she was just defending herself legally in her head thats just a distraction from a need to learn how to communicate better, because it came off as vaguely confrontational from go of me not using the right word choice for north carolina. Maybe her boss will give her a sticker for doing what was "tehnically" right, or she was the boss, but at the end of the day, to reject a grown 50+ year old adult with legal ID because you're afraid they are getting a glass piece for someone who was literally dying to show you his ID, even if you're a bit age blind, is just at somepoint not being able to self reflect and being stubborn. Maybe it wouldn't have felt like a weird power trip if they weren't being delusional, paranoid, and weird from the first sentence said but it is what it is We honestly didn't think for a second about just having my friend go in right after me, it was very immediate and very transparent just sending in someone who didnt forget their ID/isnt clearly in their swim trunks, because the possibility of being treated like some high-school trying to score boos as a man in his 30s hangin w a homie in their 50s is so absurd the possibility just didn't cross my mind.
