I felt the amount requested for preparing a simple probate petition was excessive, and even the judge agreed the fee should be reduced. As a parent trying to protect my daughter's inheritance, it was upsetting to feel as though her estate was being depleted by unnecessary legal costs. Our original attorney, Kevin Childress, stated he was overloaded with cases and transferred us to Mr. Underwood. When I expressed concerns about the fees, it was implied that I was seeking free services, which was never the case. I simply wanted fair and reasonable representation. After receiving payment from my daughter's estate on two separate occasions, Mr. Underwood later chose to withdraw from representing us. Attempts to communicate directly were unsuccessful, and I was instead referred to another attorney, Danielle Woods. Overall, this experience left me feeling frustrated and taken advantage of.
