I reached out to this agency, and from the initial call and ever since I have been more than satisfied with their compassion, professionalism, and knowledge of how to deal with not only a sick patient but also the patients struggling family members. From my initial call the office staff walked me through the intake process which was very smooth, and a short time later a Nurse practitioner was at my house doing an initial assessment, in which she addressed all of our issues and concerns and also referred us to all the necessary specialists and agencies. I am truly grateful for all of the care and help they provided me and my family and would highly recommend them to anyone that is in need of a highly skilled, and caring medical provider to come to the home. Should I ever be in need of a house call, for another family member I would not hesitate to call them.

In practice, they were as good as we'd expected. They were able to give us comfort that our grandfather was in capable hands while we were at work. The aides were not only competent but also trustworthy -- a critical factor when choosing to grant access to a loved one's home. Perhaps most important, the staff was accessible. I cannot emphasize this enough. Especially in the first weeks after we hired Elder Care, we wanted frequent updates, and Elder Care rose to the challenge. Rather than make us feel like we were annoying them, the team was a pleasure to work with, keeping us posted in real time and offering a window into our grandfather's treatment. We got the sense that the whole team actually cared.

Very responsive anytime I needed something even if I needed something in the middle of the night. I can contrast this with the care I received from another hospice group for my 94 yo old mother, also with dementia. They did nothing other than provide a comfort pack. One of the nurses actually yelled at me from across the street! My point is that it really matters who you choose for care. They provide grief support groups and one-on-one counseling; the other group did nothing more than send me photocopied letters telling me how I should feel! I cannot say enough good things about this service.

His gregarious presence and furry touch will calm even the most stressed mind while giving him a good petting will lower blood pressure (I read the blood pressure thing in a CNN article, so it must be true!). He is the perfect assistant for helping his human caregiver colleagues form a stronger connection with their patients. Besides my rave reviews for their therapy dog, I am very impressed with Renewal Care overall. They are the first long-term care services organization in NYC dedicated to the LGBT community. That means they are especially sensitive to employing care partners who embrace each client's diversity. Heck, a good number of the employees are part of the same community, so they definitely can relate! Being somewhat of a Zen practitioner myself, I am also very intrigued by their innovative mindfulness practices approach to working with people with dementia and Alzheimer's.
