Drew is the man to see for a broken Shift key. I thought I could fix a sticky shift key myself and I ended up breaking it. I let them know what happened and they got my MacBook fixed up in tip top shape. There was a little bit of a wait but fortunately they had a new key in stock so I didn't have to wait for parts to be ordered. Very pleasant experience and next time I'll be sure to avoid popping the key off myself and come in to the Apple Store straight away. read more

Ordered online and just needed to pick up my items. I walked in with the barcode ready and the greeter was so shocked. He said nobody ever has it ready and he waved someone over to immediately assist me. They were both very friendly and my items quickly came out. I was actually shocked at how quick everything was. So, I live in rural Alaska currently and getting into Anchorage is a feat - but needed at the end of winter season. One of the only 2 items on my "to do" list is a stop at the Apple Store to get a iPods Max and a watch (Ultra). But... I also am looking at purchasing a Mac Studio and possibly an Apple monitor for my home video production/YouTube channel. I'm coming to spend money. I walk in and was approached by an associate and I said, 'I'd like to get an iPod Max" and he just kept walking - even after he asked me if he could help me. I walked to the wall where the iPods were located and just stood there. I knew exactly what I wanted anyway, including color. The few associates around seemed somewhat busy, but not overly so given it was a Thursday early afternoon. I walked around a bit, hoping to catch a salesperson's eye - but nothing. A small cluster of 4-5 of them were at a computer playing a game and laughing amongst themselves. I approached and asked if one of them could help me. I was met with side-eyes and glances of annoyance. But, I asked for the iPod Max and was told it needed to come from "the Back" which I knew - given this is the Apple Store way - and I understand. Usually this is just routine and in a few minutes, a products comes out. In this case, I was just told to wait and that he would find me when the item was delivered to the front end. No "Is there anything else I can help you with?" or "Can I help you with any questions about your $550 headphones?"... or anything else. Just "wait for the item to be brought up." I wanted to ask about getting an Apple Watch, a Mac Studio, a monitor... but felt it would be an aggravation if I did. I love Apple and their products, but this store gives the worst service I've ever encountered at an Apple Store. This is NOT the first time I have been to the Anchorage store but I usually purchase from University Village store in Seattle or the Spokane store when visiting family. There, they are sharp, well-trained, helpful, and friendly. Anchorage is unfortunately obstinate, unfriendly, makes you feel that you are causing them some annoyance, and I could go on and on, but you get the idea. Ultimately, the store has what you need in stock but the otherwise friendly and helpful Apple Store experience is lacking here, completely. Management must be absent or incompetent. Sorry Apple Anchorage. Do better and I may come back to spend my thousands. Leaving to go back today to remote Alaska and unhappy that I am not taking more products back with me. read more

Oh Yeah 3X Rewards On All Apple Purchases, like music, your iPhone storage, which is auto billed and 2X on all Restaurant purchases. I use this card for all my dining out experiences. When I hit $2500 in Rewards Barclay's sends me an Apple $25 Gift Card then I Store it on my phones Wallet. I usually spend them on small items like replacement cords but I'm now accumulating the cards to offset the purchase on a future iMac Pro. I applied for the Barclay's card when I wanted the Apple Watch 5 years ago when they came out originally. read more

Giving the useless "I don't have a Magic Wand" boss ZEROES I will give this store excellent ratings IF THEY FIRE the current manager that threw me out of the store for no other reason than calling him out on his lack of competence!! I spent 4 days going back and forth to GCi and Home to prove I own this phone .. exasperated I went home and called a tech who was able to resolve my situation in less than a minute. This apple store is the typical chain apple store, and the only in the state. Located in the 5th Street Mall it's generally well stocked and organized, although COVID and chip shortages have made things more difficult. I visit this store anytime I need apple products and usually leave with a smile. The staff is always very helpful and eager to serve. Very knowledgeable and attentive to customer needs. read more

Apple and I have a seriously rocky relationship. Sometimes we finish each other's sentences, other times we make each other cry. Passion can turn, quickly, to contempt. I have owned Macbooks for the past 6 years (only 2, knock on wood). Not so much because I LOVE Apple...but really just because I hate OSX less than I hate Windows. (and Linux does not have the software I need, not to mention the fact that I lack the geek-cred) I don't own iPhones, never have. I also don't ever use iTunes. My visits to Apple stores always make me nervous. A visit usually means something is WRONG. And the news I receive about it can either be good (we'll just get that replaced for you) or heart-breaking (that's going to be $800 for a new logic board). Well, my visit here was great. I had a power cable that failed and was unable to use my computer. They were able to look it up in the computer and give me a new one, free of charge. They were really nice to me and got me in and out promptly. I was really impressed. Keep up the good work people! read more

I felt violated and rapped by the stores security. They offer no identification, have no verifiable certifications. They wish to temperature probe you and when asked what kind of device it is they have no idea and when asked if they have training they could only state that the Apple store gave them the prob and trained them. Completely trash for customer service, seems like they're trained for getting the most money out of customer instead of being helpful. I have a broken SIM card tray on what would otherwise be a perfect iPhone 12 Pro Max The "Genius" recommended I either pay for $500 back half of phone or get a new one. 30 mins after leaving Apple store I found a local phone repair specialist who quoted me $70 max for the fix. The local specialist knows more about the parts for iPhones than the so call genius. Was getting ready to switch to android if I had to buy new phone. Took two friends to the store. First off could not enter the location as I did not have a mask. Advise there was not a requirement in Anchorage. Advised this was an Apple management requirement. Stood outside. Found that the "techs" were aggressive and pushy. They keep asking if they could help me. I kept saying no. Just waiting for my friends to finish. Seems that they did not like my standing by their roped area. Advised them that their roped area was in the common area of the mall. This did not go over well and a supervisor/manager came out. Again, was asked if I needed anything. I said no. Sensing that they were not satisfied with my answers and would become more aggravated I moved across the common area to another store to wait for my friends. They were much more accommodating. The "techs" were not professional looking. One was wearing shorts and shoes without socks. Would not shop there or even return to help out my friends. read more

I don't make it a habit to come to the Apple store but I needed a new battery for my phone. I walked in the door and looked across the room to see at least 10 people wearing the Apple logo on their black shirts. There is no sign-in kiosk. There is no greeter. I walked to the back of the room, looked at several Apples (associates), and waited. One Apple walked past me and smiled but other than that, no one acknowledged my presence. No one said hello. No one asked if they could help. I walked toward two Apples talking to each other. They both looked at me and one walked away. If my employees acted with such indifference toward customers, they would be facing termination. read more

Great Covid mitigations. They take temperatures before entering the store and provide masks and hand sanitizer. Service is by appointment only, so I made an appointment the day before to have my MacBook looked at. All repairs are being done off site so it would've been too long to be without my computer, but I appreciate the realistic timeline estimate. We upgraded my husband's phone while we were there which was a really easy process. I've come to expect great customer service from Apple, and this store is continuing that reputation. I'm not one to post reviews often but had to share my experience. The employees were very kind but were unable to help me to restore factory settings on my phone because their internet isn't good enough?! I spent 45 minutes as they attempted to do their download 3 times until a manager told me they need better computers to do that and it will take months for them to get here so to just try again at home. Literally the only reason I went to the mall was to visit the Apple Store after ATT was unable to help. To add insult to injury, I get back to my car after less than an hour to find it's been broken into, window smashed all over daughter's car seat and my child's backpack stolen. All of this for what turned out to be a very simple fix that I was able to figure out in between filing a police report and an insurance claim. Don't go here looking for help. read more

I love apple products and will continue to purchase them however customer service experiences at the Apple Store here in Anchorage and phone calls with Apple customer services have tarnished my view. I brought my Imac to the genius bar sometime ago as it was not working they showed me a technique that had me hold the power button for 2 minutes and then then the computer turned on. I was then sent on my way only to go home with a computer that didn't work. I called them back promptly and they let me know that I need to schedule a new appointment. I took the computer to a third party and they found that the power supply needed to be replaced and they did just that. I have an Iphone 6 and like many found that the battery needed to be replaced. I spent about 3 hours talking to support staff on 5 occasions and finally was summoned to the Anchorage Apple Store today after about a month to receive the new battery. I was then informed that they found rust in my phone and that they cannot replace the battery and my only option is to go through a similar process with a third party. Matt the manager confirmed this and then sent me on my way with hope for a better day. My day is, was and has been just fine, I'm just disappointed with Apple staff as I don't feel like the customer. The third party Apple repair store here in Anchorage seems to understand the importance of customers and will continue to get my business. I made an appointment with the genius bar and drove 120 miles into town to try to recover data from my 10 year old (white screen of death) MacBook Air and to purchase a new one. The first genius tried unsuccessfully to help and discovered my computer was too old for their diagnostics. He passed me to a second staff person because it was time for his break. When I asked about buying a new computer (I knew what I wanted) I was passed to a third person who brought me the new computer in a box. He ignored my first two requests for a CD/DVD attachment and when I asked about help in setting it up told me that they were too busy to help me. His exact words " well we could set you up in a place to work on it but you would probably have trouble finding someone to help you. You can see we are pretty busy". I choose Apple because of its reputation for service. That may not apply in Anchorage. read more

I normally love apple products, but this store is horrible. I went in because there was a problem with my operating system and my phone kept staying on the white apple logo screen. The people invented a fake problem with the charging port by implying that I tried to "clean" the inside of my phone which broke it. They then went on to tell me that they could send my phone to a technician and I wouldn't get it back for five days or they could charge me $320 for a replacement. I opted for sending it to a technician. However, the guy disappeared only to come back 20 minutes later just to tell me I couldn't send my phone to a technician and my only option was to buy a new phone. This store being the ONLY Apple Store in Anchorage of course its five stars :) The employees are awesome and extremely helpful in here. My experience lately in here is my iPhone is within in warranty so I needed tech support. I would only ever recommend bringing your iPhone products into an Apple Store, you get the best perks and benefits. I made an appointment online via apple.com, i'm use to apple stores being absolutely crowded with hours of wait times. I showed up about 15 minutes early and was seen 10 minutes before my appointment time. Food for thought, always make an appointment, no you cannot make an appointment for 15 min in the future a few hours in the future, yes. I was bumped ahead of a few people who were waiting, but hey, not my fault you didn't make a reserved time. I was greeted by Joseph my techie who immediately just told me I needed a new replacement phone, the whole process took about 20 minutes and I was out the door with my new iPhone with everything backed up on iCloud and it seemed like my own old phone except without the glitches. I found out some useful information such as: If you own an apple product and it is out of warranty or apple care, you can still bring your device in and they will troubleshoot it free of charge, no labor. They will even fix it to the best of their ability, it may take a few days or a week, however, you only have to pay the price of any parts that it may cost to fix your device...who knew! I became a Mac fan back in 2007 and our family has since bought my original macbook pro (2007), a macbook pro again in (2010), an iMAC (2008), multiple IPhones which range from the original one 2007 ie, iPhone, iPhone 3G, iPhone 4G, iPhone 5 and currently and iPhone 5s. Multiple generations of iPod's as well. I will never go back to Windows or anything else! read more

1.5 hours into our 1 hour battery replacement, we got my wife's phone back. The only trouble was that the home button wouldn't work. We brought this to the attention of the staff who said it was an old phone and we should just replace it. It was admittedly, an older phone, but it was a FUNCTIONAL older phone until they got hold of it. No apology, no offer to fix it or return our money. Just a suggestion that she buy a new phone and maybe they could give her an in-store credit toward a phone case. Finally, after THREE HOURS we insisted on a full cash refund and left, broken phone and all. The unnamed supervisor thanked us for our patience. Sorry buddy, my patience is long since gone. To be clear: we brought the phone in for a new battery and they broke it. And they couldn't have cared less. In the future we will go out of our way to avoid the Apple Store in the 5th avenue mall. They are unorganized, unapologetic, and are utterly lacking in accountability. read more

Today I bought an international adapter kit for myself and a USB lighting cable and iPad transformer for a friend. I dropped the transformer and lightning plug off at my friend's place of employment before heading back to my hotel. 1. Back at the hotel I discovered that the international adapter kit's plug-and-play plugs don't connect with my transformers. They're the exact same component that I need, but the connector case frames are deliberately different shaped, making them useless. 2. My friend texted me to tell me that the iPad transformer doesn't connect with the USB lightning cable that I bought her, making them useless. Why would Apple make their own components incompatible with their own components? While this isn't the fault of store employees, it was a store employee who steered me towards that USB flash cable/transformer combination and that specific international adapter kit. I then had to waste another 45 minutes in subzero temperatures meandering back to the store to exchange the useless international adapter kit for one that I can use. And now my friend has to waste her time to do the same with the transformer and flash cable that I bought her. Where I blame this store is that employees should know which components are or are not compatible with other components. Who ever heard of an iPad transformer that can't actually be used to charge an iPad with?!? That's absolutely absurd! One does not walk into an Apple store and expect inoperability between components. From this point on I'm going to have to open packages right there in Apple stores to check for compatibility. One should absolutely not have to do that as most customers expect standardization. read more

WAS TOLD BY MALL SECURITY THIS LOCATION WAS TOO SECRETIVE I tried calling the store to inquire about how much it would cost to fix a screen with blown leds or see if it would be better to just buy a new phone. When you call the store, you're greeted with a robot. That robot will say it can talk to you and understand full sentences, but couldn't give me an estimate or put me through to a human. I tried calling again and this time instead of trying to ask the robot for anything, just told it to transfer me to a human. It said it could do that and I got so excited, and then it said it needed to ask some questions first and proceeded to ask the same questions as before to which I had the same answers and it got me nowhere. So I call again and am just adamant with the robot to get me a human. It finally says it's gonna place me on hold for the next representative. Great! Except the person who answered was an apple employee in china who couldn't hardly communicate with me, let alone give me a price estimate for my problem. I asked her to just transfer me back to the hold line for the specific store I was calling and she couldn't understand what that meant. At this point, it had been an hour and half or so. My boyfriend had the bright idea of calling the mall and just asking whoever answers to walk over real quick and get an estimate for us. We call and the mall and it has its automated robot tell us to hit whatever key for whatever option. It gave us the option to type in the first 3 letters of the name of the store we wanted to inquire about, we did that, and it took us to the same robot guy saying he could understand the full sentences. Got us nowhere. Then my boyfriend says what about mall security? Maybe we can call them and one of them can walk over and ask. We get a hold of the mall security, and are told that this particular location is "secretive". Whatever that means, I definitely don't want to be giving my money to a "secretive" establishment that I was trying to go to for customer service. Get rid of that damn robot and hire people to answer the phones. And maybe work on getting rid of that "secretive" reputation because to me, that makes me think you're drug smuggling or money laundering. read more

They have gone in several times for help and have been treated as if they are stupid and slow and have walked out without their problems solved. While they are not computer savvy they are not stupid. I have walked into the store - Doors open and lights on at 8:55 only to be told that they are closed. If the store is close please turn off the lights and close the doors. There were some issues in the process not related to Apple, but with Belkin the manufacturer. #Apple should know they have two good dudes working for them. Please people ~ MAKE a reservation! Obviously Apple has a high clientele base and a low store to client ratio. That's ok, it's Alaska, this is a normal problem for us. That being said, it seems every time I go in for my appointment (NOT hard to make) there is someone ahead of me in line (to check in) who insists that THEY are the most important person in the store and have to be helped NOW. And while they are doing all of their complaining - I AM now late for MY appointment. Ugh, step aside 'too-busy-to-pick-up-the-damn-phone lady" nobody cares that "every time you come in you have to wait" and also no one cares that "you own several apple products and they need to take care of their customers better or you're going somewhere else" Oh, "apple needs to hire more people so that their customers don't have to wait"? Do you see how many people are working in this store lady? This place is packed with helpful techies!
