Team Witt initially did good work on my 1976 AMC Pacer. There were issues with seat locks and my…read moreair filter that no other shop I talked to could or would fix. But surprisingly, and unfortunately, they dropped the ball on follow through about the primary mechanical problem when it was all said and done. Gary, who worked on my car, disagreed with the previous shop's assessment of the brake booster leaking as the source of the car breaking down, insisting he tested it and found no leak. He concluded it was the rear brakes needing adjustment, and other issues (engine being worn, and problems with the carburetor). He adjusted the timing, improving the rough idle, which was, and probably still will be helpful in the future. He was responsive when I called him to describe what happened after breaking down yet again. Because it was nearby, I had it towed to my local shop, the same place that made the diagnosis Gary disagreed with. They again diagnosed the brake booster leak as the cause of the breaking down. All of this is par for the course with a car this old,. I'm sure. So to get to the bottom of it, I asked both shops to communicate with each other about their findings before yet another repair bill that may or may not fix the problem. My local shop said they were more than happy to hear from Team Witt. I called Gary and requested the same. He said he was too busy that day, but that he would the next day. He never did. I can only speculate the reason being that he realized he may have been incorrect with his assessment, which also would have been okay with me.These things happen. But saying you will and blowing it off is not okay with me. For this reason Team Witt has lost my business and my endorsement.
