My experience at Apple Cumberland Mall was okay overall & my issue was resolved eventually after a long wait. I arrived a few minutes early and checked in with a friendly Apple associate. She greeted me, found my name and walked me over to a table with four seats. I waited for over 30 minutes in what seemed to be a troubleshooting area for iphones and while waiting I saw other customers (with phone issues) dealing with various situations. Some were waiting and some were being served. There were plenty of Apple associates walking around with their teal shirts and politely greeting or assisting the best way they could (or couldn't). Another staff member checked on me after 15 minutes, and said someone would be with me soon. There was a woman being served next to me who was visibly upset after working with an associate to solve an issue with her phone, and I heard her state that she'd been there for over an hour. About 15 minutes later another staff member came over to check on me & I asked if I should move over to what appeared to be the table for Mac issues. They agreed and I moved over a few minutes later. My issue was related to a water spill on my Macbook Pro, that damaged my charging port & keypad. I initially tried to resolve the issue with Best Buy - Geek Squad near my home, but the agent was unable to process the ticket after doing most of the work to assist me for an hour and send my laptop out to be repaired. He provided a Geek Squad ticket number & print out and gave me advice to go to an Apple location with it so they could help finish the job. After 45 minutes of waiting, the agent at Apple was able to enter the Geek Squad ticket into his database, collect my payment for repair and take the computer. $300 plus tax and a few business days later my Macbook was shipped back to me repaired. I will note that my Macbook was under warranty (extended) when this occurred . I struggled between a three and four rating because I could see why many customers were upset first hand. My decision to give them a three is because of the long wait time, despite of having an appointment made days in advance & explaining my issue to two associates before being told to move to the proper area to be seen. It was inconvenient, but this location ultimately helped resolve my issue and prevent me from footing the bill for a new Macbook this year. I would return if in a similar situation and pack the patience. read more

Horrible repair experience. My iPhone 16 Pro Max overheated to the point it burned my hand and the battery swelled and cracked the back glass and then the entire phone died. Not only is it less than a year old, I also have AppleCare+. Instead of replacing the unsafe and broken phone, they insisted that it had to be sent to an off-site depot. The depot wanted to charge me to repair the broken glass even though it was a direct result of the battery safety problem. I called Apple Support to protest the charges and they said they would waive them. But I'm here 12 days later with NO iPhone. In the past when I had broken Apple devices they would replace them on the spot. I had to basically beg the store until they relented and gave me a crappy iPhone 14 as a loaner which I can't use properly for work. It should not take two weeks to replace an iPhone that was literally a danger to me!! Shameful read more

I needed someone to take a look at my new phone when I could not get the FaceTime to work on the Apple 15. The phone carrier told me to go to the store; however, when I walked inside there were tons of people scattered throughout the store like ants. One of the associates finally came over to check me in but she warned me that the wait was 2.5 hours long, but I could opt to make an appointment two days later which I decided to do. Since I had at least 48 hours to troubleshoot on my own, I was finally able to help myself and the appointment was cancelled. I cannot determine whether or not the associates would be able to fix the problem nor how much this assessment would have costed, but from the looks of the long lines it is apparent that these Apple stores have made it their business to generate revenue aside from selling products. I am rating the experience based upon the effectiveness of my problem being resolved by Apple. read more

(Review from quite sometime that was stuck in the cue) Timing is everything- hours have changed and I submitted the update via photo to Yelp for the update. 11am is the opening hour on today, however it did not meet the mark.... I don't like reviewing in this fashion. But sometimes you have to tell it like it is. Today, I Realized this review above has been sitting in the cue for quite some time. Today is December 5th 2023. It's 12:23pm. Decided to go to Apple to take a seat break out my Mac computer and do some quick research then check out possible keyboard covers. Walking in I get stopped and get "clearance" to take a seat and do my quick work. I was stopped by another worker who questioned what I needed and stated that this is not a library and perhaps I could find another place to sit and go thru my computer. I didn't even know what to say so I walked away. Apple was not always like this. It must be a horrible place to work as well. At the end of the day with the 10 of thousands of dollars that I have spent in this location alone. A quick sit should not go questioned. Peak my interest if you are really interested in helping me and the store sales, show me a product that I many benefit from if this boils down to me buying something to sit for a few moments or need a repair. Ask me question to inspire my computer usage right? Instead I got the police treatment. "It's not a library" is what I was told. It's not his fault. I don't blame him, but there is a reason that I was treated this way. The floor employees are tired and burned out. They appear hopeless and without direction. Will I visit this store again. Probably not, my tolerance is low for mediocrities. The biggest problem I was processing is why was I treated this way? I came in respectful and focused. I hope this review gets the attention it deserves. I spoke to a manager Tia who cleared that it was ok for me to sit for a few and take the time I need pro get organized. I'll start by saying that this was an amazing experience. Thank you AK for providing me with amazing service and being a stellar representation of Apple Service! My phone's volume was no longer loud at all. Nothing I tried worked and it was time to get it checked out. I booked my appointment online and I would suggest this over doing a walk-in any day. Upon arriving I was checked in and sent to the waiting area. Within minutes of arriving at the waiting area I was greeted by A. K. who recapped my issue I was having and told me what to expect. She performed further diagnostics on my phone and provided me with my ticket and return time. This was an absolutely amazing experience as it was efficient and the service provided was personable. Upon arriving back at my pick up time I was checked in and sent to the pick up area. Once in the pick up area I was greeted by a rep who told me my phone was showing as ready and he would go get it. A few moments later another technician came out and advised that my phone was completed. It failed the follow-up diagnostic so it would be about 20 more minutes. About 10 minutes later, my phone was delivered to me and it was fully fixed. The under promise and over deliver experience was greatly appreciated. Understanding the importance of customer service is something that the Apple Team is very aware of. Furthermore, the process they have in place is so smooth and efficient. Gone are the days of just standing around waiting and not knowing what to expect. Based on my experience today I will definitely visit this location again for any of my Apple needs. I purchased an iPhone 16 in May of this year. Along with my iPhone purchased I also purchased a phone case. iPhone 16 Clear Case with MagSafe. I dropped my phone one time on a hard surface immediately the camera protection, wedge broke, and chipped off. I went to the store to see about a replacement. The tech that signed me in informed me that I would need my receipt in order to get a replacement. When I met with the tech, I was informed that I would not be getting a replacement because The replacement warranty was for 14 days and it had to be defected. In my opinion, it was defected. I am very disappointed on the knowledge of the Tech and how I was persuaded to purchase this cheap case by the Tech during the time of purchasing my iPhone 16. I was told it was a quality case. An hour of my life I won't be able to get back. I just needed to replace a deteriorating case, but was told I needed a Genius Bar appointment to talk with a salesperson. 30 minutes AFTER the appointment time a very nice gentleman informed me that he could order a case (none in stock, although online the store shows availability) and I would need to come back in to pick it up. I inquired about having it shipped to my home and he said that wasn't an option. (He mentioned that the alternative was to speak with Apple Care support; however, they have been no help after speaking to four different representatives. I had an exceptional experience at the Apple Store in Cumberland Mall. My iPhone would not turn on and was having touch screen issues. I started with a technician, Mariyah. She was so kind, an excellent diagnostician and very thorough. I ultimately decided to trade in my phone for a new one. Then I moved to Alex in Sales. Alex was very congenial and provided excellent guidance as I chose my phone. Then because the setup person was busy, Alex got the setup process started and stayed with me until she was free. She was also very friendly and helpful. I also interacted with several other employees while I was there all of whom were very friendly and helpful. I gave a 5 star review because I honestly have not had such an excellent experience in a retail store in many years. In the future, will be a loyal customer of Apple Cumberland Mall. read more

What a struggle with this location today. We were told they are trying a new pilot program to assist customers and it is NOT working. After "checking in" we were sent to our display table to wait on a customer service rep. There were plenty of people working in the store however, many were distracted with each other. FINALLY, someone shows up after an hour. Store rep - Mid 20's woman with blonde hair went to help an age compatible male. He was 3rd in line. She was called out by another lady and responded with "you can wait". We called another store rep to help. Again, instructed to stand by our table and he would get someone. The rep he called over told the MANAGER - "I am trying to talk to name redacted and they can wait" We left and I ordered the new I pad Pro online. It delivers tomorrow. Save yourself the trouble. this store is not worth the headache. Just order your new toys on-line. Pay the insurance and talk to their online help desk for set up support. It is quicker. This has been by far the fastest services I've ever received from any Apple store. I was concern about the time we arrived due to it being closer to 5pm which means, there will be a great deal off working people there trying to figure out what's happening with their devices. To my surprise, we were attended too as we arrived. Every representative seemed busy, but there came someone to check us in who connected us differently to the sales rep. We went in for a new iPhone for my sister. The rep was informative, gave us options, accepted our trade and sent us on our way with a new phone. Had the unpleasant experience of having to argue that my phone was updated during a repair when I specifically instructed them not to without my permission. The girl at the desk stood her ground and said it was impossible because my phone was released after the version I claimed it was on before the repair. This wasn't true because, as chance would have it, I bought three versions of this phone and only kept the one with the specific iOS version that I wanted (I like to jailbreak my phones, but no it wasn't jailbroken during the repair). She still insisted I was wrong and wouldn't budge. Apple just doesn't hire polite and knowledgeable people anymore. I have seen a sharp decline in the last 5 years of their retail stores competency. As an Apple user of 10+ years, I see little to nothing that sets them apart from other retailers. read more

This Apple Store is like Jekyll and Hyde. Its relatively new to Cumberland and I've been here twice. The layout is similar to other stores and has been busy when I've been there. The staff can be easily identified as they wear the same color shirts. Mr. Hyde: The general front floor staff are vacant glorified schedulers for your appointments. Most I've come across are nice enough but they don't know anything! Their answer will be to let's schedule you for an appointment or find you someone....basically they don't have answers but will bounce you to someone who does. Dr. Jekyll: The staff in the back at the Genius Bar(GB) or other small tables actually are knowledgeable and very helpful! My experiences with Alex and Nate (GB) were surprisingly great! I've had issues with the recent Yosemite upgrade and these men definitely helped to resolve them. The store manager, Angela is nice and effective. My issue is...why Apple decided to have so many Mr. Hydes than Dr. Jekylls. I'm not a wondering shopper and know what I want so I find Mr.Hydes just red tape...if U are like me, then just go online and make an appointment from your home. Your store experience will immensely improve. Otherwise, if you go to Cumberland Mall and need a genius, you are likely going to be told to come back another day or go to another Apple Store. Now, if you like to wonder around then Mr. Hydes will love you!! read more

I had a free upgrade with AT&T, so I went to AT&T store outside the mall, but they didn't have the exact phone that I wanted and recommended I do the upgrade at the Apple Store. After learning this, I was excited, because I love going to the Apple Store. Once we got there, we were set up with an associate (Elli) to get the new iPhone and she told us that the plan that we had for the upgrade with AT&T would not work at the Apple Store . Which is fine, but what happened afterwards is what really rubbed me the wrong way. She then started to pretend that she was looking up other ways for us to get the upgrade. When actuality it seems that she was trying to sell me on AppleCare for 30 minutes. It got to the point where Elli said " do you like Starbucks?" I said no. then she said "do you like Dunkin?" I replied no. She asked "what's your go to place?" I replied "five below." Then she said if "you cut off all the five below, you'll have enough for AppleCare". Once she realized that I was not interested in AppleCare, she gave my phone back. It was almost like she tossed my phone at me; and I left. I was always on the fence about getting AppleCare for a long time because I kind of wanted to get it. I just knew that I couldn't get that day, but now I don't think I want to get it at all. I made an appointment to come into the Apple Store before a ski trip to get a new battery. I scheduled the appointment roughly two hours before closing and the employee I saw told me it could not be done that night. I let the employee know I had a conference all day but could come pick it up in my lunch break so she scheduled it to be done during that time which was great. She handed me a ticket to pick it up the next day and the ticket said start 11:51 finish 12:14. I asked if the phone would only take 45 minutes if I could wait for it tonight and she said no that it would be ready on time tomorrow. When I arrived the next day my phone was not ready. When it was ready the employee asked me my passcode and I told her it was 2019. She proceeded to lock the phone for five minutes and accuse me of not knowing the right password. I offered to call my fiancé and close friends who know the password. Instead she continued to tell me I was wrong and that it was not 2019. I said the only way it could be different is if it was changed. When she finally let me try to input the code myself I showed her and the other employee that the zero button did not work. She grabbed the phone and instead of trying to use the zero button she entered a random code and locked me out again. At that point she said she would have to reset the phone because it was a software issue that the zero didn't work. I asked if I could back it up first and she said it was too late since I was already locked out for 15 minutes. After the reset the zero button still did not work. Thankfully at this point the manager helped me and ultimately admitted the phone was broken during the battery replacement. I got a new version of my same phone but the process took almost 3 hours and I had to miss a significant portion of my conference. When I set up the new phone it asked me to make a new password and then to use my old password to remove my previous iPhone from the account. Low and behold 2019 worked perfectly. Turns out she entered it wrong the whole time, maybe it was the three inch nails hitting the wrong number who knows. Being repeatedly called a liar, or worse someone who stole someone else's phone and doesn't know the password, made this my worst apple experience ever and the fact that the whole time they acted like everything was my fault when the repair caused the damage is extremely frustrating. read more

Store Manager Tia will NOT stand behind their products and the claims on the website, but WILL stand behind their shoddy, failed repair services. My phone was repaired about 1 month prior. The back panel was damaged, so they replaced everything EXCEPT the front screen. For some reason, they put the old screen on the otherwise new phone. Now, just over a month later, my phone suffered water damage. Despite claims on the website of water resistance up to half an hour up to 6 meters of depth my phone was fried. Store Manager Tia claims the new screen was heat sealed and that couldn't possibly have been defective. So why is it that two iphones bought at the exact same time had the exact same water exposure, but the repaired one failed and the other didn't? There's no convincing me that it was anything other than a defective repair. I did have Apple Care, so the phone was replaced. But I'm irritated at having to pay the deductible twice. I went in to pick up a phone. Found help quickly and explained to him why I was there. He then handed me off to a lady there. Then I had to explain again why I was there. I knew the phone didn't come with a charger which was fine I have a lot of them. Then she told me the cable that comes with it won't work. She is correct. They quite putting in chargers because everyone had one (USB A) but then they put in a a USB C cable so you have to buy a charger anyway. If you want to buy a different cable you can at the same price as the charger. In talking chargers to her I asked what wattage the iPhone 12 requires. She said it doesn't require wattage. I let her know that anything electronic has a wattage rating and she tried to convince me it doesn't. I told I would go look it up which I did on one of the computers there. When I told her what the Apple website said she continued to argue. I have had far more bad experiences than good at this location. I will avoid it if at all possible. read more

This location was like watching a train wreck in action. My husband was actually told by his technician that he was doing him a favor. After trying to trouble shoot the device with Apple care several times and erasing device and not restoring from a back up but set up as new. The device was having the same issues. Everything that was asked to be done was and was able to be verified the device was set up as new, But the issue continued. We had an appointment and yet somehow the technician not only believed but shared he was the one doing my husband the favor by helping him. The when he asked for a manger he was told they would get a lead. He Said he would not like a lead but would like a manager. He was then told that a lead in the manager are the same thing at Apple. This statement is laughable. Tell that to the lead when they're not getting senior management Apple Paychecks. It's like they make up anything and each one of them has a different made up story to tell. Good for you Apple, you've outgrown yourself and you can't find quality employees anymore. read more

Usually I dread going into the apple store. I really have never had a positive experience at an apple store so I always try to avoid going in. Which is very unfortunate because I love the products. Until today, I had the sweetest man help me find the right computer.His name is Joe, he was so kind and extremely helpful and attentive. I had to return a newly bought watch that had the AppleCare replacement coverage. They sent it in and did so erroneously. Watch was sent back to me a week later. Apple said well this little deactivation should have been done. Well, now they want to send it back again. So I will get to wait another week to have the Watch. If I were somebody looking to scam them then maybe do it that way. But I buy a lot Apple. And lately things Apple are not as good. If they want to exceed expectations then handle it in the stores. They know they have an issue with their Watch batteries and as much as people pay for the Watch and the Applecare they should handle it at the store when they can. People working there now are less empathetic to the customer than ever before. read more

I cheated on my regular Apple Store at Perimeter Mall and went on over to Cumberland. I didn't know there were an Apple Store in Cumberland until I asked Siri. I just happened to be on Cobb Parkway. My charger retired on me so I stopped by. I loved the fact its on the main floor near Sears. Thank goodness I didn't have to walk all over the mall. Although I don't mind a good walk; I had other things on my errand list. It was busy like all Apple Stores. A long line formed down the middle of the store. I weaved through everyone , grabbed a charger from the shelf. The person whom checked me out, was so friendly. We had a pleasant 5 minute chat and I was on my way. I came early in the morning because we all know how hectic the Apple store can be. I had actually visited the day before and a rep informed me that coming early in the morning would be my best option to get help. As soon as I arrived I was greeted by a rep who set up an appointment for me that would be in 30 minutes. They sent me a text when they were ready for me and the Genius was super helpful. I got my laptop looked at and she gave me plenty of helpful information. I came back the next day and the reps were not as helpful. I informed them that though I got help the day before, the necessary part was still shipped to the store and they wouldn't even check because I did not have an appointment. Customer Service isn't too great and there are long wait times! I brought in my MacBook Pro for a corrupt OS today. I can't tell if they're just severely understaffed or the staff don't have effective time management and know how to prioritize tasks and customers. But while I was here for 5 hours today (Yes, 5 hrs), I sat back and watched multiple staff just standing around looking bored. There were a couple who were just social butterflies carting on a conversation about anything and everything. This led to a long wait time, for everyone. At one point Apple used to be a model for customer service, not any more. Apple killed the performance of our 6S's with the iOS update they did in November. Made an appointment at the local Apple store to have the batteries replaced. Showed up and waited for an hour only to be told they didn't have any batteries but was told we'd get a call in 3-5 days to come back in. I call into customer support ten days later and totally get the run around -- passed off to five different people and was told they wouldn't have any batteries for 4-6 weeks and that there was no way they could have foreseen the demand for batteries which is complete and utter BS (I have worked in the industry and know they knew what was going to happen as they fully test iOS updates on all phone models). It appears Apple decided they needed to sell some new phones and added "planned obsolescence" as part of their business model. I have iPhones and iPads but won't be buying any more for a while. read more
