Being an AppleHead (I own an iPhone 11, an IPad Pro, a MacBook Pro, an Apple Watch and an IMac), I stopped in having issues with my phone. I live in Providence and was in my way North so I needed my phone. I was there at 10:10am this particular Saturday. I explained my problem and was told to wait over by the phones and someone would take care of me. After about 30 minutes and watching several people walk in, get waited on and leave, I asked for the manager. He came over and immediately gave off a vibe that felt uncomfortable. I explained I was waiting a long time and was asked did I intend to purchase? I just explained I was there on a repair issue. No one took my name, came over to help or anything. Then to add insult to injury, he said "you people typically window shop and never buy". Needless to say I was insulted. He walked away and upon passing one of the young minority employees, he said "hey boy, are you staying out of trouble". It is apparent that this manage has issues with black and brown people so I decided right then and there that I was gonna start looking into other electronics than Apple if they hire this type of person. I should have gotten his name but I was so mad, I stormed out the store an another Caucasian person walked in and he went running over saying good morning and how can I help you? There were a few others minorities there also waiting in corners like they didn't matter. One lady was arguing with the same manager and after getting really loud, finally got service. I was not going to stoop so low just to get service I felt I deserved as a patron. I'll never buy another Apple product and I will tell anyone who will listen about my treatment. This time, we had THREE people help us! Mike - the one we talked with the most - was so knowledgeable, friendly & funny. I went to the Apple Store at Legacy place today and had the best service anywhere. I had a problem with my ipad. Chris and his supervisor were amazing. They took the time to check out the problem while I was there and determined that the problem could not be fixed longterm. But because I have Applecare they were able to replace the iPad with the same version that I had for only a $49 fee. They were very kind, helpful and patient and set up my iPad for me with the cloud. At 6:10 I asked the check in guy if I had maybe gotten lost in the shuffle and he assured me that I had not. We're just busy. Oh - ok. Now I have brought two macs in for repair. The first, my MacBook had a bad hard drive the Genius Bar told me it had multiple problems and to not bother to fix it. That experience went so well that when my main work computer froze and wouldn't restart I didn't hesitate to bring if to this Apple store. It took two weeks, and I had ti make several phone calls and threaten to take my computer to the Braintree Apple store. The problem is a bad graphics card. When we initially brought it they told me they would have it done in three days! Yay since they initially told me over the phone it would take a week. When they called to let me know it was all repaired we went to the store to pick it up, and they tried to start it, same problem! The had replaced an inexpensive part, way less than the graphic board which would have cost $300. So now what, we let them replace the part that we knew it needed all along, but first, they would need to order it, another 3 days, and than possibly another couple of days to make the repair. Not pleased, but feeling like maybe they really did just want to help me save my money and replace the cheapest part, plus, they told me that they were able to start it back up. Well, when my computer was due to be ready, I had to call them, they told me they were so sorry but the part they ordered was defective, it would take another three days to reorder and and another several days for them to get around to repairing it. What?! Are you kidding me, I believe I may have used a few obscenities at this point. I use my computer for work, its my only work computer, and they're casually telling me I will now be without it for a total of three weeks! (side note: they don't care, apparently every Apple customer can not live without their computer) After I calmed down, I called the Braintree store to see if the part was in stock, it was, so I called back the Dedham store. They told they would have an employee pick it up on their lunch break, and they would call me as soon as it was repaired, most likely still a few days. They called me later that afternoon! Needless to say, the employee who initially repaired my computer, was all apologies when I picked up the computer. I in essence told him it was not really his fault, after realizing it was not the problem they should have done everything possible to expedite getting to correct part and repair i so I would not be without my computer an unreasonable amount of time. If I ever do go back to them for a repair, you can bet I will be on them every step of the way, and yank my computer back form them if I sense they will give me the run-around ever again. read more

Holy shit this place is efficient. Generally I disprove of Apple stores because they seem like a giant petri dish of yuppie(not to be confused with Yelpy) douchebaggery. This location had a certain air of normalcy which was a great change of pace. The greeter at the door helped answer my questions and set me up with a genius bar appointment to fix my phone. Within 2 minutes of talking to my assigned genius I had a brand new closed iPhone and was on my way. What more could a pseudo-yuppie ask for....except maybe a fedora. read more

Overall, I have a love hate relationship with Apple because their products are not built to last, but it's not really fair to review the store based on the crappy product. The employees are helpful for the most part. Woody has helped me numerous times and he really knows his stuff. There are others that are not very knowledgeable though. I've come in twice 30-45 min earlier than my appointment and was helped within 5 minutes which was very nice. Not at all impressed with this store or apple in general. I went in yesterday to see if there was a fix for the broken power button on my phone only to be told the next appointment was three hours from then. I declined and made an appointment for the following day. I walked in and was told to go see a guy standing in the back, but this girl approached me and told me to go see someone else, so I did? Weird policy though to have you schedule an appointment then bounce you around- that wouldn't happen at your hairdresser? And for all the people they have working in there I wasn't too pleased. Anyway this kid who helped me told me its a really common problem with the phone and the fix is $199 and it just needed to be replaced--- ARE YOU JOKING? I went up there two days in a row because I didn't schedule an appointment the first time around only to be told I have to drop $199 just to fix the problem? Such for being super efficient, not. Additionally if its a common problem why isn't it recalled and fixed? Are there actually people with that much of a flexible bank account right now to just go replace their phone on a whim? It works perfectly fine I just can't power it off- so no chance I was paying that kind of money, I thanked the kid and went on my way. I will give him credit he was polite and its apples policy not him personally but the whole issue was just a complete waste of time for me. Good luck apple, I am done dealing with you all together as soon as my contract is up. I don't get all of the negative reviews for this store -- well, I do, but I won't get into it. I've been an avid Apple user for the last 4 years, having switched from PC a few years back, and have never had such good experiences from a single store. I moved to the area a year ago and have since been into this store to buy: an iMac, a MacBook Pro, two iPhones, two iPads, an Apple TV, countless accessories and have gone with a number of friends to help them buy Apple products, as well. I've been into this store to visit the Genius bar with my Mac Pro that stopped working (which they fixed for free, even outside of Apple Care), with my Cinema Display (which they fixed for free outside of Apple Care), and a few other issues. The staff here is extremely friendly, always willing to help, and very knowledgable (ask for Steve or Connor if you want to buy something!). Apple, as a whole, is an amazing company that takes care of its customers. This store in particular is excellent. However, if you go in, guns blazing, screaming your head off -- who's going to want to help you? In my experience, if you go in, are nice, stay calm, and be friendly to the employee you're working with, they'll bend over backwards to help you out. read more

Great conversationalist, and was quick to assist and explain anything and everything I could think to ask. I made an appointment for the Genius Bar because my MacBook wouldn't download Yosemite. When I met with Brendan, I told him that I kept getting the S.M.A.R.T. error. He told me that it was my failing HardDrive. I also told him that for the longest time that I've had my Mac, the disc drive has always had an issue burning CD's. He ran a diagnostic and told me he could replace both the HardDrive and the disc drive. SWEET! I had already backed up my computer up so that streamlined the process even more. While he ran the diagnostic, I asked him a few other questions, not all related to my Mac, including Apple ID and iPad questions. He was great and answered them all. Then he told me that usually I would have to leave my computer for a few days so they could replace the parts for me, but he said he'd check if he could do it for me right then. After he checked his schedule, he told me that he could have it done for me in an hour and a half. DOUBLE AWESOME! AND that'd he'd download Yosemite for me and put a hardDrive cable (whatever that is) to be sure I wouldn't have issues with it later. So I left and within an hour I was being summoned back to the store to pick up my computer. When I came back to pick up my computer I was helped by Josh, who was very friendly and super helpful. He had me turn the computer on and make sure everything looked right. That was an optimum visit. Of course I'm sure that the store being on the more quiet side at 2:30pm in the afternoon on a Wednesday helped, but I received great service and will definitely go again in the future. read more

During the great iPad2 debut I stood in line in front of this store for about 30 minutes. At opening time they let us in, only to inform us that they were sold out. So why the hell did we have to wait outside, other than to make it look a little more popular? I went back in again 4 days ago to buy a power cord (since their power cords keeping breaking down) and had a hard time finding someone to help me. Sure it was a mad-house, but some of the geniuses there seemed to have time to chat back and forth. (shrug) I love my MacBook, but am not a fan of the store. read more

Note: My review is biased towards the specific staff who work the business team at this store. I'm a mac user and business owner in a scientific discipline, the macbook pro is my primary tool for many hours per day, 7 days per week. I typically go through at least one high end laptop per year. Went overboard recently and complemented my almost-new 15 inch macbook pro with the fantastic 11 inch Macbook Air. Not a mac fanboy but I am convinced that the macbook pro is simply the best portable unix workstation on the market today. My company recently made the decision to purchase and supply our employees with new laptops, this is a change to our old policy where the company bought you your first laptop and after that you were expected to upgrade on your own time. The business team here was great and helped me explore corporate leasing arrangements vs. just purchasing macbooks as we needed them. With their help I was able to determine that the best thing for my company was for us to purchase new laptops slowly over time (a few every couple of months). Never had trouble getting calls returned or price quotes sent. My laptops are always ready to go when I arrive to pick them up. read more

Went to this location last night for a factory reset on an older generation MacBook. Unfortunately the Genius Bar staff did not have a Snow Leopard install disc in store to help me. But the service did not end there. A kind gentlemen named Cooper proceeded to find another solution for my situation, where he was able to do a network reset and partition my hard drive. I deeply appreciated the commitment of the staff to find another solution when the first one failed. 5/5 stars great service. read more

I have no issues with the mask mandate, but seriously, I was required to put on one of those flimsy disposable masks that constantly fall of the nose because it was CDC approved rather that the gaitor mask I was wearing. I know all of the data on gaitors which suggest they are marginally worse than regular masks (unless Kn 95 or N95) which was not what they were handing out. (EPA study from 4/21 says gaitors are 37.8% effective and the disposable masks are 38.5%). - Nope, not interested in all the rules as written by the PC police, so I will go elsewhere. read more

I have been an Apple customer for years. I have been willing to spend more for quality products and quality service, which is what attracted me to Apple products. My recent visit to the Apple store in Dedham, MA was the first time I have had less than five star service. I went to the store to replace my power adapter for my Macbook Pro, which is less than a year old. The adapter stopped charging the laptop and would become extremely hot at at the cord strain relief. The heat distorted the plastic sheath to the point that the cable was exposed at the strain relief. I expected this would be a simple exchange but the "Apple Care Specialist" stated that he could not replace it because it was abused and proceeded to instruct me on how to properly wrap the cord around the the adapter. He wouldn't even let me explain how it happened. He walked off with the adapter and returned later and stated he would replace it but he consulted with he coworkers and they all agreed that I had abused and damaged the adapter. I switched to Apple products more than 10 years ago because of there quality and customer service. I have never had issues replacing faulty hardware until today. I am hoping this was just a one time occurrence but at the price I pay for Apple products I also expect the service to be top notch. I will not visit this store in the future for purchases or for support. read more

Very rarely write negative reviews, but felt like I need to because the Apple product screams American quality and the store staff service left a lot to be desired. Walk in because my husband wanted to buy me a iPad. Bunch of products displayed for use with no specs near them and no pricing. I personally found that a big arrogant. Then I see about 5 staff standing together at one of the tables B/S... amongst each other. Not one of them came to ask us if we needed help. While walking out, I brought this to their attention, and one of them nonchanantly asked if we need any help. At this point, a bit peeved, I replied no, its ok. And the staff replied, oh ok. Basically, came across as if she didn't give a damn. Probably no one is going to read or care about this review, but hopefully someone at Apple will and do something about Staff training and sensitivity. read more

Totally agree with the string of miserable reviews from this store. Horrible customer experience on 10/12. Showed up 10 mins early for my 7:35 pm scheduled appointment to have my daughter's 6s screen replaced. After repeated discussions with uncaring check-in person, I actually called Apple while in the store to file a formal complaint. Finally waited on, 40 mins after arrival. Received belligerent call from Legacy Place store manager at 9:15 am on 10/13 whose explanation was "I don't know what you want from me". Still waiting from Apple corporate to reply but certainly not holding my breath. My three children are Apple fans so I guess I'm held hostage until they're on their own but for the life of me, I don't get the attraction of this company. Last week I was made to return from my appointment because I was 5 minutes late !! I made another one for yesterday. The "genius " there told me that I had broken my own Apple Watch and would be charged 229$ to fix it! The pictures were already shared with customer care and they had confirmed that it was a swollen battery that caused it. But the store tried to hoodwink me yet again.When I shared this information, they put a work order but said that I still could get charged as they believed I broke my watch on purpose! I really wish Apple would screen their "genius bar" staff better at this location. There really is something to be said when I the customer come into the store knowing more about the product than the so called "genius". It is very frustrating to have a broken product in the first place, but then to bring it in and have to explain to the person who is there to help you on how to go about fixing it, takes frustration to a entire new level. Then at the end of it all be told there is nothing that can be done but buy a new one. No thanks! Funny thing is that I took the exact same product to a different "genius bar" across town as was told right away that I would be given a new product. The store itself is very busy and often you may have to wait a long time to be seen but the people that work there know their stuff.
