Anyways, the phone screen was completely unusable and my phone would randomly call emergency services 911. Ya, that bad. Being from Arizona, I feared that the local Apple store in Edmonton would be unwilling or unable to help me. I was quite wrong. So my first Mac product EVER crashed on me yesterday and wouldn't restart. I was in a PaNiC because I had my son 10 days ago and all of his newborn pictures were on the laptop that just crashed and of course we hadn't backed them up yet! So we immediately tried troubleshooting based on the online forums - no luck. MORE PANIC!!! Went online and booked an appointment for 45 minutes later at the Genius Bar at the Apple Store in West Ed. Packed up the whole family - 10 day old baby in tote - and went down to West Ed - Good grief! Met with our assigned Genius Bar employee at Apple who determined that our hard drive was starting to fail on us - he said if we replaced it right away the pictures should be recoverable. He was so honest that he told us if we went to West World Computers down the road that we would be able to get a harddrive double the size for the same price because it didn't really need to be an "apple" brand harddrive. KUDOS to him for his honestly. Besides, we have 4, that's right 4 FREAKING apple computers and laptops in our house and 2 iPhones and 4 iPods... TL;DR: my multiple visits are filled with nothing more than disappointment. Huge props, however, in their consistancy in being bad and unhelpful. However, I would still say that they deserve an average rating because some employees seem actually decent. I am just unlucky everytime and acquire the untrained, inferior ones. The Apple location in West Edmonton Mall is extremely disappointing. In my experience, their customer service is super appalling and very poor. They communicated casually with each other and are non-engaging. Why does it require three people to lookup if a product is in-stock or not? The employees whom we asked for help were doing nothing prior to our intervention. Shouldn't they be working? Once they felt necessary to finally help us, it was a string of horrible management and perplexing methods. It took around 10 minutes of the lady scuttling back and forth and checking her device to find out if a measly item was in-stock. Honestly, the communication felt lazy and rude at times. Overall, there are other locations which are better by ten-folds when it comes to getting the help you need and actually receiving decent customer service. This location is absolutely horrible. It is filled with lazy and relaxed employees who make it seem like helping the customer is a burden that meddles with their day, when in reality, it is literally their main job. Anybody can have a bad or off day but that should not be the Basis of a bad review. I bought a new iMac there to replace one i bought 11 years ago. The safari was showing its age and it was time for replacement. I paid $2500 and don't have access to e-mail on my new computer despite many of my own efforts. I went to the store to get help. It was an inconveniece to use two computers with my old one still in use for e-mail. My father passed away earlier this month. I'm getting mail as co-executor that is part of his estate. Located on the second floor of West Edmonton mall, the place is always busy! There are only two locations in Edmonton so if you are looking to buy a new phone, have a problem or need help, you need to be patient. If you walk in, the wait time can be ridiculous so I usually make an appointment. You can call them to book your date and time to avoid waiting around. If you do walk in, you need to see one of the staff near the back of the store holding an IPAD. He/she will ask you what you need and enter your info into their IPAD and give you an approximate time for your turn. You are able to leave the store and they will text you close to your time. I had a problem with a swollen battery in my older phone and was told I should have them recycle it for me if I didn't want to pay for a replacement phone. They said to think about it and decide. I went back to have them recycle my phone but was told I needed to wait to see a salesperson in order to do that. I did not have time that day so went back a few days later. When I returned I talked to a salesperson who said she couldn't help me but referred me to a guy who had a two customers waiting for him. I waited patiently then to find out he couldn't help me! He sent me back to the front where a different person said to get in line at the back. I explained it was the third person I talked to and not getting anywhere! He immediately found someone to help and my issue was taken care of. Although it was frustrating with the waiting and not getting help, once you talk to the right person, they are so knowledgeable and helpful that you are thankful and glad you can get help! read more

Disclaimer: The following review discusses the store, not the products it sells. Had some issues with my iPhone, so after much thought took it to the Apple Store at Southgate Mall. The wait time was almost a week to have diagnostics/service done. The one staff member was a little rude and aloof towards us. We decided to go to the Apple Store on the West End at West Edmonton Wall. Totally different experience, like a different world. The wait time for diagnostics/service was similar. Before, during and after my appointment at the West Edmonton location the staff were excellent. My iPhone issue was solved. A week is a long time to wait to have technology (Apple Products) fixed. Most people rely on their technology throughout the day, most days. There has to be an easy solution to reduce wait times. Apple is a wealthy company, they should be able to find some more repair technicians if the need is there. read more

I was never a fan of Mac computers. I have always been a PC user and still am today. That being said, I got a Macbook last year for Christmas, and as much as I tried to hate it, I just could not help but like it. Now, I have been to the Apple store in WEM and I found it very convenient how they had a lot of demo units of iPods, Macbooks, and iMacs (the desktop computers) along their tables, as well as iPod speakers and accessories. I found it incredibly useful how they had a lot of headphones to try out on iPod units, as there is a severe lack of this at any Best Buy or Future Shop. It is very convenient how a lot of the products found on the Apple online store can be found in store, where you are allowed to take products out of the box and try it on your iPod or Macbook computer. The technical support is also very good. I had an iPhone and a button fell off, but it was still under warranty. I made an appointment online, which was a simple process, and came in during my designated time slot. The 'Genius' (code name for the tech support staff) had a visual inspection of my phone, plugged it into his computer, perhaps to verify that I was still covered under the manufacturer's warranty, and ordered in a replacement phone. There was no cost to this, and the new phone arrived within 2 days. When I came in to pick up my replacement phone, they helped me move all my information, contacts, and messages over to the new phone, so nothing was lost at all. Something that bugs me though: everytime you walk in, there is usually a greeter present who is suppose to say hello to you, yet their service is very inconsistent. Every time I'm walking in to the store, I don't know whether I will be greeted by someone, or if I should just continue walking in. The service is really not necessary in my opinion. I just like to walk straight into a store and feel that person could better be utilized as a sales associate. Also keep in mind that the prices offered for their products are usually not the cheapest around, and I would advise you to carefully look at other electronic retailers first. The Apple Store in West Edmonton Mall was one happenin' place! People were everywhere playing with all sorts of colourful gadgets. Every colour of every ipod and every version of every laptop were set up on very large Ikea-looking tables. These tables were very spread out and so were the products set on them, so there was lots of room to move around and explore. The store had a very welcoming and friendly feel to it. I was greeted at the door, and I think they have a "please DO touch everything" policy. I couldn't help but play with the new ipods, making me wish I could afford one in every colour. Little stools and low tables were even set up, so little kids could play Star Wars Lego on the imacs; it was the cutest. You could find almost every Apple product in this store, including many accessories that are made by other companies. I saw an entire wall full of extras for the iphone and tons of stuff for ipods and computers too. I also found some really funky designed laptop cases and some awesome computer games. This store isn't cheap, and I think the prices are the same as ordering them online. The advantage is you don't just get to look at the products, you get to touch and play with everything. I have owned Apple products for almost 10 Years now, and I have noticed a steady decline in customer care. My Macbook Pro(2014 Model) that at the time was $3000+ and with Apple Care, recently the battery started to bulge. My apple care expired this Year, and I never used it. The issue is, I reached out to Apple Support regarding this issue, and they stated to go to a local apple store to diagnose. I did, and even after informing them of the expired Apple Care, they are still charging me $300 to replace a defective battery that will damage my $3000 macbook pro if not repaired. This company makes billions in profits, and cannot part with a few hundred dollars to appease the dedicated customers of their products! I feel they care more about their share holders, and pocket books, rather than the customers that buy their products and create their profits! I will start consider purchasing other Tech Products in the future. Everyone loves Apple and I am an avid Apple user. I like my phone and my iPad. Although I am VERY disappointed in the service here. We walked in on Wednesday and just had a wifi question. We were told that in order to go over that we had to make an appointment (the wifi is greets out on my sons ipad). So, instead of waiting for the next one, which was an hour away, we said she we'd come back the following day. Now when I booked the appointment to come back I explained that the wifi was greyed out and I had reset the whole iPad as per the website. The lady still said we had to come back for answers. We came back and sat down at the table waiting. When the lady came to us I explained the exact same thing. She then proceeded to tell me that there was nothing else they could do except send it away to be fixed which would cost upward of $300. It's not the price that bothered me, it's the fact that they couldn't tell me that the day before, they made me book an appointment to come back just to tell me they can't do anything at the store. Yahoo! I had not one, not two, but three computer problems. It was pretty much a Christmas carol. Two chargers a not working, one visual settings issue, one security problem, and a partridge in a Mac tree. I knew things would be crazy at the Apple Store. I mean, things are always crazy at the Apple Store, but this was like, three days after Christmas. Yikes! I arrived at around 2:30 and the next appointment with an Apple Genius (and yes, people, these guys and gals really are geniuses) wasn't until 5:30. No problem. Mall walking for the win! My Apple Genius dude was friendly and helpful. What more could a girl ask for? He checked through my computer for security issues, fixed my pixels, and gave me brand new computer chargers. WHAT. I'm a little disappointed by this Apple store. I brought in my Macbook to fix a warp in the case (still under warranty) and they ended up breaking the camera in the process of repairing it. I get that accidents will happen, but I was pretty angry when I brought it back in. I told the "Genius" what had happened, expecting them to fix it, and he refused to, even though it was still under warranty and clearly the result of their repair job. He was really rude, and refused to even bring out a manager for me to talk to. I get that everyone has bad days, but that is really bad coming from a company like Apple that so strongly pushes their customer service. If I wanted a computer "boutique" than Apple stores are where it is at. Since when do you have to make an appointment to have customer service. Noone asked me if I needed assistance and let's face it all the "justin long" wannabe's in their t-shirts and grungy jeans hardly came off as professional looking to me at all. I've been using Apple products for a few years now. I got my first MacBook in 2007 (not from this store) and recently got a new one (also not from this store). Me and my husband have both brought our iPods here in the past when they've crapped out on us, and were given replacements quickly and with no hassle. We've also been here to buy random cords and such. They have every Apple product you could want, and tons of accessories, too. My first big experience at the Apple store was yesterday, when I finally got my iPhone 4! (Woo hoo!) I called ahead of time to make sure they could actually change my plan around (I didn't know how these things worked... Come on, have you SEEN my old phone?!), which she confirmed. Of course I had to pick the day that the iPad 2 was being released, so she suggested I come in before 1pm. The store was pretty busy when I got there. I was greeted right away by a young lady who asked me what I needed. She then directed me to someone else, who then directed me to yet another person. I ended up switching my plan over, but keeping my number. The guy I dealt with was pretty good. I ask a lot of questions, and he answered them all well and helped me understand the process of switching providers and whatnot, giving his opinion on good carriers and plans. All in all, the process took about 45 minutes. I'm satisfied with what I ended up choosing. Good experience, and I'm sure I'll be visiting this store some time in the future, considering all the Apple products we have in our household. The store is big and BRIGHT! Too bright for me. So never having been to an Apple store before, other than when I purchased my phone, I didn't understand the system. My first visit turned out to be a way to book an appointment to have my battery looked at. My second visit was to confirm that, sure enough, I needed a battery but "we don't have any in stock so here's a work order to come back when we do have batteries. " My third visit was to drop off my phone overnight for battery replacement and to get a mild scolding for not having picture id on me. My fourth visit was with picture id to pick up my clean, rejuvenated phone. The staff were all extremely helpful and pleasant. They helped me take my case off and put my case back as needed. I don't object to the staff, I object to the whole systems rigamarole. I did have Apple care so there were no extra charges. I did learn a few things 1. Book your genius appointment online before you leave. 2. If you want a morning appointment or if you hate booking on line, show up outside the door when the store opens. 3. Back up all your photos to another computer beforehand, and back up your iPhone to the cloud before you leave home. 4. Bring government issued photo id with you. A passport or drivers license will work. 5. Park on the second level as close as possible to the Eveline Charles exit unless you're a big walking fan. This is the reason why people have irrational brand loyalty. I waited 5 hours in line for the new iPad 2 and yes it is as great as the hype. While in line apple employees were constantly circulating asking if we had any questions, but what makes Apple something different is they brought around carts full of water, coffee and hot chocolate for everyone. Apple may not be your preference for tech providers, but name another brand that provides good customer service, good support and a place full of experts to advice and instruct. This location is always stupid, crazy busy! Download the app, or phone ahead and reserve yourself a place with one of the geniuses. If you have your appointment, they are generally pretty good about being on time. The staff are very helpful and knowledgeable. I had an issue where I was paying for my "Up" band and my debit card was declined. When I checked my bank balance it had shown that the transaction went through. The store manager dealt with me directly and explained that it was a glitch in the system and that we would have to put it through one more time to make sure that the store was paid. (long story!) He was very insistent that he give me all of his contact information in case I did end up getting charged twice. I was to call him directly and let him deal with things on their end. He went above and beyond and was very helpful. To the average person that is walking in WEM and browsing, deciding to buy something from the very busy location, it can be a frustrating experience. Great service from the Genius Bar staff today :) My iPhone 6 was having issues charging and I went to visit the Apple Store fearing the absolute worst. Turns out due to me sticking my phone in my pocket all the time I'd been an idiot and loaded up the charging port with "ous" (as we call it in Scotland). I've exclusively been using Apple products since 2003 because they have useful, reliable products. Their store is a good extension of that with helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. I recently picked up a new iPhone at the store and it was a pleasant experience. I'm with Fido and none of the Fido stores ever have any stock in iPhones, making the Apple store the only real option if you don't want to wait for an undetermined amount of time. Fido and Apple made it really easy to get a deal done. I called the Apple store to confirm they had stock and I called Fido before I left to set up my new plan and contract. The Apple staff can also set up a plan for you, but Fido is more knowledgeable on what they have and you can usually get offers from them that aren't advertised. When I got to the store a staff member with an iPad took my name and details down and let me sit at a MacBook until there was someone ready to help me. I waited five minutes and it took about 10 minutes to get everything set up, then I was on my way. The one downside to the Apple store is they don't carry any refurbished products. I've purchased a refurb MacBook on their online store and saved quite a bit of money. You still get a current model and a full warranty, but the product has been refurbished. My brothers and parents have since bought refurb computers through the online store and never had an issue. Unfortunately that's only available online so you have to wait a few days for shipping. read more

The store is crisp, clean and very modern in appearance and function. In a way, it almost reminds me of a classroom. My personal experience is limited to having them fix my wife's phone after an unfortunate 4.0 update. They were fast, knowledgable and fixed it perfectly. But... The staff are everywhere and nowhere all at the same time. It felt to me like there is somewhere in the neighborhood of a 1:1 customer employee ratio. Unfortunately though, they are all busy playing with computers and iPads (an inordinate amount of fuss over so little IMHO). My 7 and 4 year olds were with me at the time and when the staff member I was speaking to noticed that my son was getting bored, he offered for my son to go play on a computer. Went in the store after a past disappointment, and decided to give it a try again. I wanted to buy the apple watch for my self and feww accessories for my phone. Went inside, we past by few "apple geniuses" and they just looked at us. I am not expected to be greeted but atleast ask us if we need assistance on the product we are looking for. But no they just looked and ignored us and decided to talk to a white family just came in after us. We stayed and went to the apple watch table and help our selves with the info. My son liked the ipad too and i was thingking of buying him one but when we are ready to buy, no one is around, we are looking for a available staff to help us but no one is helping although my hand and arm is raised looking for help. If I could give this store a negative 1 for stars I would. I am a lifetime user of Apple products and never have I gotten shittier service. I pre-ordered a MacBook Pro through the Apple Store App and paid the full price of the computer. I go to pick up, the sales rep says let me sign you up for a Apple Business account since I was purchasing for business purposes. I said sure. She then goes on to say I need to refund this purchase and have you re-purchase.. come to find out charge wasn't reversed and I paid twice. When did I notice this? When I get home. So I called the store and spoke with the manager. They apologize and say to come in and bring the box and bag. I go all the way home to the North side where I live to get these items, I get to the mall they tell me the pickup is cancelled and I was refunded.. not calling to tell me not to come in since it was taken care of! I get we're in a pandemic but use your head. It isn't a 5$ bag of cookies you double charged me for. You also signed me up for a service that is no benefit to me but talked it up in store like it was. I will for sure be going to the Southgate and driving the extra 25 minutes south to avoid this shit hole! read more

I hardly ever buy anything when I go to the Apple Store, in fact I have only ever purchased one item -- an iPad. That being said, I have made many visits to this store for no other reason than to play with their latest gizmos and browse. Never hassled never troubled for being a window shopper. In fact, staff there are friendly, courteous and more than happy to serve. Even if you aren't an Apple fan, it's hard not to like the atmosphere of this store. Keep it up, Apple! read more

It's about time an apple store opened up here. As much as other places carry Mac computers, none of them do it to this extent. The store is beautiful, just as apple computers are and it matches perfectly with it's white lights and white themes. They have all the Apple merchandise you could imagine and allow for you to pretty much test it all out before buying. No other store really provides this service. The people working here are very helpful and can answer most of your questions about any of the products. It's always fun to just mess around on their demo computers but this store is the best place to buy them from too. read more

I thought I reviewed this store already but apparently not! Oops! That's good though because after today's experience my feelings changed for the worse a bit. Now, I am an extremely creative person. My passion is writing so I've only had PCs because Word is pretty much the standard. I had a revelation today that I want to delve more into creating music and podcasts. I'd seen an interview with Emily Haines where she said that Metric had used Garage Band to create some songs for an album. I thought that was really cool and accessible. So, I went to the Apple Store on a mission to buy a MacBook Pro. I'd done all the research online and had it all picked out but wanted immediate gratification. I figured on a machine that retails at nearly $3,000 that they must have some sort of financing available. I went straight for the laptops and was reading all the info there and comparing. When I looked around for an associate they were all busy. Then one greeted me but was so busy doing nothing that he didn't stop to assist me. Finally, likely half an hour after I entered the store, I stopped an employee and asked if they offer financing. He said no, put it on your credit card. I ended up just purchasing a midi-creating device that said it was PC compatible. Turns out the drivers are not XP compatible. Ugh! I love my iPod and my Nano. I think Mac has a LOT of advantages but really need to figure out that to make their computers more accessible to the general public, offer financing. I'm going elsewhere to purchase my Mac. read more

Wasted my time. The staff were helpful in a do-nothing way. That includes the managers. I was ready to make a purchase but the system was down. This place is always busy! Yet there is usually a Genius available when I need one. On my last visit I had some fairly technical questions. All of which were answered; I got more information than I expected! I have been an Apple fan since before Mac was introduced. Quality products that work pretty much sums up my experience. Terrible service! I called to make sure they had iPhone XR lenses in stock before driving all the way there. The man on the phone stated that they did indeed have 3 types of Moments lenses (all the ones I needed in the brand I was hoping for). So I drove half an hour each way only to be met young male who didn't even speak to me until he finished having his personal conversation with another male then finally addressed me when the other male left. The young male stated that he new nothing about the lenses and that he would send an "expert" over to help me. I was then met by an arrogant old man that new absolutely nothing about iPhones and/or the lenses. He told me that the moment lenses (after he ate up 20mins of my time researching on his personal phone what they were) were only available online. Then he asked if I wanted the olloclip ones instead and refused to give any discount let alone still new nothing about those lenses either! I'll never shop there again which is too bad cuz I'm in the market for a new computer as well. What a waste of time and money! Thanks Apple.......... DO NOT SHOP HERE! read more

I don't know about you but I love Mac computers... the look of them and the function of them make me all happy and warm inside. What makes me feel like a kid in a candy store is the Apple Store. Just being in there and checking things out is enjoyable. The staff is awesome, hit up Michael for great service. If you have any questions or problems using the programs that your Mac computer uses you can feel free to book an appointment with them. During the summer they had some day camps running for kids to come in and have some fun learning and playing with the programs. Camps were free and you got a cool Apple shirt for coming out. If you know someone who loves electronics then this is the place to hook them up with cool stuff and you don't have to wait in long lines if you don't want to! All you need to do is flag down a person who carries a portable payment machine and your set to go. Life is good when you get to have fun at the Apple Store. read more
