At the hostess area, another more pleasant young guy greeted us. I requested a booth. Mr No Personality said "none available now". I asked "can we wait?" Don't even think he acknowledged me. A few moments later, booth was available and "MNP" seated us. And that's all he did. No, "your server will be with you shortly; sorry for your wait; kiss my grits" nothing. Our server Lexie was a pleasant and cheerful breath of fresh air. She checked on us although it did take a little while to get extra napkins. I almost always order the Chicken Wonton Tacos. This time I got the appetizer platter with fried pickles (good but salty), chicken wonton tacos and fried shrimp. I don't typically eat seafood so I was really going out on a limb. Took a second to be seated as the waitress was in the middle of a conversation, but she was nice. Spinach and artichoke dip is a must! Someone brings out the salads.. Anyone other than your waiter brings out your food and has no idea where it goes... And then if you're lucky your waiter will come out an refill your drink.. Placed an online order for pick up. Got there just in time, got a notification that our order is ready to be Picked up, but still waited 30 minutes n had to inquire where our order was. Finally got our food n When we got home we couldn't believe how bad it ALL was! We were missing our appetizer and a couple of sides, we soon came to realize that was probably a good thing. The food was awful! Ribs dried up, burger was greasy and cold, new Cinnabon rolls were so dry some were hollow. We tossed it all! None of it was edible. This Applebee's is my personal favorite. We tend to come in later in the evening due to our personal schedules. The food is always incredible. My favorite things to get are the chicken quesadilla appetizer, the quesadilla burger, or the nachos. The servers are always super nice and recognize us when we walk in. The (alcoholic) drinks are usually spot on but sometimes vary in strength between visits, my favorite being the red wine sangria. The only downside really has nothing to do with this location and is more related to corporate: they tend to take some of the best options off the menu and don't always replace it with something comparable or better. Some of my favorite things over the years here are no longer served, like their chili or the chicken dish that came served with mashed potatoes, stout gravy, and caramelized onions. read more

This Applebee's is awful! I have family that work at Applebee's in other towns and they are good so we tried this one for my son's birthday, what a horrible mistake! Hostess acted like she was miserable and didn't want to be working. The silverware and dishes were filthy. The bourbon street chicken tasted freezer burnt and was dry and the potatoes were served after everything else came out instead of on the plate like they were forgotten. Chicken Parmesan was over cooked and dry as a bone. Pasta undercooked. The whole plate just looked like it had been sitting out for hours, cold and dry. Went there on a Saturday mid May about 4pm. Should have known when we saw it was not busy at all by the looks of the parking lot. Getting inside, we were seated right away, but noticed two tables near us were not cleared or cleaned. It stayed that way for over half an hour. We went there because Applebees was running a special this month on Dos Equis beer. The add said they offered both the lager and amber. The waitress took our drink order and had no idea of the amber one, saying they only had one tap beer of Dos Equis and it was the lager. I said ok and she went to get it, returning with out saying they were out. How do you run out on a Saturday afternoon when your promoting that beer. We should have just left, but we didn't. We completed the order and don't get me wrong, the server was nice but never saw a hint of a manager and other than the server, no one acknowledged us as there. The food came out, and it was one of their specials with steak and shrimp. I'm not a food snob but the shrimp was tasteless. I ordered the steak medium and should have ordered rare, as it came out well. I just didn't want to waste anymore time there so I just kept the steak. The server did ask if the food was alright. It told her it was ok and not medium, but was not going to have her refire another. Just very disappointed in this Applebees and was the worst one yet. I have been to this Applebees before and received amazing service. A group of us went recently on a Wednesday night. It took them a few minutes to seat us but we didn't mind waiting since there were quite a few of is and we had anticipated having to wait. We got our table and were still waiting on a few stragglers to show up. The waiter came out and asked if this was all and we said that we were still waiting on a few more to show up. So he turns and walks away. He comes about ten minutes later and asks if we are still waiting. We say yes, but can we go ahead and get our drinks. He was very rude when he said he was getting ready to do that. He took our drink orders but was very rude to each of us when asking what we wanted. The rest of our people showed up and asked if they please could order. (They figured the rest of us had ordered) He said nobody has ordered yet and walked away. He finally came back and got our meal orders. He seemed very irritated when he was serving our food. Anther waitress was trying to help him get us our food and was trying to calm him down. She was very pleasant and nice. The food was okay. There wasn't much sauce on my honey bbq wings even though I had asked for extra saucy. This must have just been an off night for the restaurant. I was debating on whether or not writing this review but after talking to my husband we decided we should. We enjoy coming to the Alton Applebee's it is our favorite. Especially because our daughter is best friends with one of the hostesses there. The staff is always welcoming except for the past 2 times we have came in on Friday mornings. Usually we see Brie or Natalie in the mornings and they are always very happy and welcoming to my husband and I. A few Friday's ago there were 2 hostesses I believe Mandy and Brie. Some conflict arose and one hostess I believe it was Mandy, quit and made a huge scene leaving the other hostess confused and embarrassed by the other ones actions. Some how she came back after "quitting" and started talking/ cursing out the management and her co workers so loud to where I could hear her about 5 booths away. The other hostess tried to calm her down and told her to lower her voice because it is unprofessional to be talking in such a way. Then she left the host stand and started to clean tables. She was the ONLY one cleaning tables while the one who "quit" and came back did nothing but sit on her phone the whole time up at the stand. The hostess didn't seem too bothered by cleaning on her own until she realized dirty tables were piling up and she still had no help. My husband and I could see she was getting frustrated but continued to do her work with a positive attitude.. She walked up to the other host and asked politely "can you please help at least wipe the tables down after I pre bus?" When she walked away the host rolled her eyes and CONTINUED to sit on her phone. What kind of team work is that? Especially because the other host asked very nicely for some help and she waited about 20 minutes cleaning by herself before asking to do so. Then leaving the restaurant my husband told Brie she did a wonderful job today with the given circumstances of no help from the other hostess. Brie apologized for the other ones actions and told us to have a great day as she held the door. As we were walking out we could hear Mandy talking and even cursing once again. This isn't the first time we have had problems with this particular hostess. We have came in numerous times and she would ask us "table or booth?" And roll her eyes when we would say booth. We don't mind where we sit but if you give us a preference don't get mad when we say where we would like to sit. I've always been very pleased with the management, servers and the food.
