Went to the Applebees in Burleson for the first time tonight with my family. First off, I should've known from the signs... every restaurant in Burleson was busy and had wait times. It was Friday night around 7pm. Well the Applebees did not have a wait time. We were seated and the waiter we were assigned was distracted by his coworkers and took his time coming to our table to gather our drink order. Then it took 15 minutes to get our drinks. My wife and I were one minute away from walking out. I could see the waiter joking and laughing with his coworkers near the kitchen like the establishment was some kind of hangout for the staff that work there. This is where it gets good. NOT! We finally order our food and my tea had been empty for around 12 minutes. I had ordered the ribeye steak at medium rare and my wife ordered the ribs. When I got my steak, it did not appear to be a ribeye at all.. I cut into the steak and it was clearly a sirloin. The steak was lean and had no marbling at all. The steak was tough and hard to chew. NOT a ribeye! You can't convince me otherwise. I asked the waiter if what they gave me was in-fact a ribeye or a sirloin. He responded with, "we don't have sirloin steaks here and that's 100% a ribeye" I reminded him that the menu I had looked at most definitely had sirloins on the menu at a much lower price. He then said he was unsure of what a ribeye looks like and couldn't tell the difference. So I took the liberty of educating him of the difference in the two types of steaks. My wife's ribs were so bad she wouldn't eat them. I tried a bite and it was so gross I looked at her and just shook my head.. she was almost in tears because of it. We finally were done with this horrible experience and the waiter brought us our check and said they took off the ribs and apologized for the ribs and said he was sorry about my "Ribeye" so I had to remind him that the steak I had received was not a ribeye and that I was cheated into paying for a steak I never received. He said that he doesn't eat meat because his Christian. So I reminded him that Christian's do eat meat... I can't make this stuff up. Applebees in Burleson Texas needs an entire new staff. They were over breaded and a little over cooked. Took another 15 minutes to get food. I got the hamburger in cheese, which the fries should be on a separate plate. Everyone was apologetic for the issues before, and made sure to address my concerns. This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. The customer service was horrible. My wife and I waited 15 minutes with an empty restaurant to be seated. Our waitress Shawnee took our drink order. When she came back with our drinks, she didn't even give us any straws. Our waitress Shawnee walked past us several times without stopping to ask us if we needed anything. Our appetizer was brought to us by another waitress without any silverware, napkins, or extra plates since my wife and I were sharing the appetizer. For the entree, we both had the classic cheeseburgers. The burgers were cooked very hard and the bread was not very fresh. Nothing was good about this restaurant. Utterly underwhelmed. Ordered door dash from this location. The ribs were fall apart amazing but with the most disgusting hot bbq sauce which was supposed to be Asian chili, but it wasn't. The fries were soggy but that can be forgiven as I don't know how long it had waited. The Caesar salad was brown and inedible. Wonton croutons came out okay and the burger was okay. We pointed to what we wanted on the menu & repeated what it was. We didn't get what we ordered. We had to ask for our salads. Someone else than our server helped us with that. The order took forever to come. It was not a peak time & wasn't overly busy. Steaks were not cooked properly. Potatoes were cold. Veggies undercooked & also cold. Sent it all back. It took so long for that food to be "reworked " that we finally flagged down our server (with the help of someone else) & told her to forget it. We got our bill & were charged for a soda. Again took forever. Took the bill to the bar to pay due to the continued long wait. It was comp'd. Our server should have done that. Never once an apology for the poor service or food. Today we stopped by and face masks are required to go in but you can remove when you're seated. There was about 4 other tables busy and it was sad to see the "new" new. It took about 7 min to get our sweet tea for it was being made fresh. We ordered an appetizer- mozzarella sticks AND let me tell you.....they were perfection!!! A. Must!!!!!! I had the Homestyle Chicken Bowl- very impressed. 8 pieces of chicken, hot and fresh. New dish and it is a hit! I hope it's a keeper. My husband had the Whiskey Bacon Burger- delicious and flavorful. We went here as restaurants were coming back after the outbreak. It was smart that they offered hand sanitizer as we arrived and gave us a barcode to scan for our menus. You can tell that they took safety. Although I figured out the barcode, the menu was a bit blurry and hard to see the food description. We got the 2 for $22 deal they had and chose the bourbon street chicken plus the 4 cheese Mac/cheese. It was nice that we got a free entree with the deal, so we chose the spinach dip with chips. As for the chips, the dip was quite good but the chips were way too salty. My wife was actually rubbing the salt of the chips lol. The bourbon chicken was amazing and the mashed potatoes were on point. Unfortunately the mac and cheese with honey chicken was bad for me. Have you ever tried sweet pasta?! Well I sure did and it was gross. The pasta and chicken were actually good but because they added the chicken on top of the pasta they ended up ruining it. The bread stick that came with it was actually good too, better then Olive Garden's. The waiter was attentive and kind, given that there wasn't many customers because of the virus. Crappy service! Took so long to get anything. Refills, napkins, more shrimp. Just terrible. Had one server who passed us off to Robert who had a trainee. So you would think we would have stellar service with essentially two servers, nope. We have been here before, but never has the service been this bad. Finally spoke to the manager Bree. No apologies, excuses, or explanation at all from Robert. Service got a little better but seriously 5:30 on a Tuesday night. It would have a nice gesture if Bree would have offered a dessert or something on the house for our party of 5. No wonder the place was dead. Lack of good customer service. That being said we walked into this establishment and waited for five minutes to even be seated in an empty restaurant with people that work there walking back-and-forth giving us no acknowledgment whatsoever. We started with the Classic Combo appetizer; save for the "chicken wings", the variety and taste of the cheese sticks, quesadilla, etc. was excellent, especially with the spinach dip. "Wings" were boneless and relatively hard gristle-like; next time we will ask for bone-in or select a substitute. Fish 'n Chips would please a Brit; outstanding! Sandwiches were very tasty, but burger are featured and well-prepared. Kathlean was an excellent server, all 6 foot plus of her, in ways that cause you to think you have in her a consumer-advocate.
