Wife and I were seated at a small table for 2 despite 4 open booths nearby. 20 minutes later we had still not been approached by a waiter/waitress. 25 minutes in and two young ladies were seated at an empty booth beside us and two minutes later a waitress came to their booth and apologized to them for the long (2 minute) wait. At that point we walked out. No one had spoken to us since we were seated by the hostess. Terrible, non-existent service. read more

This meal was lunch im my hotel room delivered by Rachel of DoorDash. Cannot say anything bad about DoorDash. However, I CAN say a few bad things about Applebee's. I ordered the Rib platter for $13.79, and a Blondie for dessert. The ribs came with coleslaw which was pretty good. Not sure what was in the bbq sauce, but I never saw ribs that looked like that. Tasted ok, but if I had received this in the restaurant, I would have sent it back. Unrecognizable entree. Also, no salt/pepper, no napkins. Blondie was pretty good. read more

This is my favorite restaurant of all time. You might be wondering why the heck I only gave it 4 stars instead of 5. Well....I go there a lot. Like several times a year. The service is not always the best. We are always nice to the servers and give them good tips. And they know us well. Yet they are not always nice to us. Yet we always go back for the food. It is delicious! The spinach dip is obviously my favorite. Also if you haven't tried the wonton chicken tacos then you do not know what you are missing. Their brunch burger is my favorite burger yet I've heard the quesadillas burger is even better. Speaking of witch their quesadillas are really good. For main entrees my favorite is the cheesy parmesan shrimp and steak. The steak is so good and nicely grilled, topped with juicy yummy baby shrimp tosses in this buttery cheesy sauce that'll leave you licking your plate. And of course their desserts are delicious like the brownie bites. I tell you, no matter how full you are, you'll never want to share them. But the best dessert of them all is the triple chocolate meltdown. That one is TO DIE FOR. Like you literally die and go to heaven once you taste it. And you'll forget everything else but the sweet, rich, chocolatey taste exploding in your mouth. Oh I could keep going but I'll have to stop for now. Applebee's is always a good place to go if 1) You really don't feel like cooking and just want a decent burger or pasta or 2) If you're looking for a spot to grab some appetizers and drinks late in the evening after bowling, a movie or insert activity that gets out after 9 here. The wait staff is always pleasant and the walls are lined with art that suggests they want to be neighbors, but in the same was as if I went a bought a bunch of family pictures from an estate sale and declared I was "one of the family"! After 9 the appetizers are half off, they have drink specials and lots of room for groups. Not the place to go if you're looking for some authentic local cuisine, but overall a good place for some quick, greasy, know what you're gonna get food that is consistently decent and better then spending the same amount of money and more time heating up something similar at home. read more

Absolutely Ridiculous So I'm at the Coralville Strip locaish, gettin' wasted on vampire lean, eatin' French Fries till my ass gets hypertension, when I pop outside to rip a dart. I left my Patagonia jacket inside because I had cut an extra deep vee into my tee. Lettin' the ladies revel in my man cleave coated in chesties, plus the cold midBest fall iced my nips straight out. No local takers. Go back inside and some dipshit stole my 'gonia jacket. I flipped out. Chugged my second hard lemmy and screamed "Gimme back my son!!" At the hostess. It was a reference to that fuckin' Mel Gibson movie Ransom. Nobody got it though. No cinephiles eatin' at fuckin' Applebee's. (Side note: The Gibs' has been slackin' lately; I was was expecting Daddy's Home 2 to be on parallel par to Passion of the Christ, but even Big Poppa Sugar Tits couldn't save that shit.) Anyways, they called the cops. I went outside and saw a guy helpin' some Townie flooze cooze into a car wearin' my god damn jacket. I ran full speed and drop kicked his ass. Of course the cops pull in right when I did this. I get hauled off to jail, get booked for assault, argue I didn't get read my Miranda's, and plead down to 8 hours in the crunk tank. But Guy gets to leave with my goddamn Gonia and some after work barstar who probably gave him a handy on the drive back to her shitty 1 bedroom she's filled with LiveLaughEatPrayLove bullshit. Applebee's owes this Bro-wen Wilson a new jacket. But I got to what the Davenport PD called "recklessly inebriated for a Wednesday" on only 6 bucks worth of Vampire Lean and 2 Mikes Hard-ons. Mixed bag tonight. Our server, Nate, was on point. Good service, which seems to be rare. We didn't wait or want for anything service wise. The meal...ah, the meal. Where to start? We asked if the stir fry was spicy. No was the answer. The reality was spicy. My ribs were tasty. The sauce was both sweet and spicy. My potato was Idaho fresh. As in fresh from the field. Hot and under cooked. My child has the corn dog which must have been good - it disappeared quickly. read more

Recently I had an actual meal with my boyfriend. The meal was pretty decent! The service is always in the good-great range for me. Me, and my party of four went here on a Saturday night. It was a few minute wait to get a table. We got our drink orders taken immediately. It wasn't too long until we got our food ordered as well. My brother and I took advantage of the deal, where you get two full size entrees, and an appetizer for $20. We ordered onion rings for the appetizer, they were good not great. I ordered their new whiskey bacon burger. The burger was pretty good, but it sounded better than it was. The burger came with a side of not very many fries. The other people I was with ordered an appetizer of mozzarella sticks, which I had one of, they were good. The service was pretty fast, and friendly enough. My food was okay, the strongest part of the whole meal was the appetizers. The others in my party seemed to enjoy the food more then I did. read more

So much potential; so poorly fulfilled. As a surprise, friends invited us to dinner at Applebee's. The menu is varied and enticing. Too bad the food isn't. My wife and I were served several minutes before our companions so we all got to sit there awkwardly. Our steaks ordered RARE and MEDIUM RARE were cooked VERY well done. Dry and dark gray. Nothing was more than warm. Our server did not remove empty dishes unless asked to do so. There was no evidence of a supervisor on duty. All in all not Applebee's best effort. Had an ok experience.... Met the Fam for a birthday lunch at noon on a Sunday...I was actually surprised we got right in even with 7 of us. Our waiter was great, kept up on our refills and orders no problem, we were never wanting for anything. The food was what I expected, typical chain. My husband and I each got a chicken wrap, he got regular fries, I hot sweet potato fries. His fries seemed like they were old, they were a little cold and rubbery; my sweet potatoes fries were hot and crispy, right out of the frier, but a bit too much salt for my taste. My wrap was warm. But it had a texture inside that made me think it had been under a heat lamp for awhile. My Mom got one of their signature salads...she said it was good, but she only ate about a fourth of it...she took the rest home, but they never stay good too long because of the salad dressing....I wish they would make half orders. Shannon was my server at the bar this evening, and from the moment I sat down, she presented herself with a certain humbleness and articulacy that you rarely see in servers these days. When I'm wanting to eat out, I normally play roulette between Applebee's, Texas Roadhouse, and Chili's: my experience tonight was so amiable that Shannon ended up quantifying my experience to the point that I will choose Applebee's again, and again. read more

Tried to order a drink, she looked at my ID and then came back saying that she was new and the manager wanted to see them because she's new at it. Took ID's for 5 min and then came back and said she couldn't serve me because I was smiling in my picture... saying Texas was a no smile state even though I read that no where and I took the picture at a texas DMV. My food was ok, good service but pricy. I'm exploring restaurants and new places in the town. Some restaurants are fabulous that I like to be there repeatedly but not sure to keep Applebee's in my fav. list. One good thing you can pay at your table, or if you have kids, they can play games with the same device settle for each table. read more

The table next to us had the original produce stickers still on the food even after cooking and serving. The lemonade and food were average and smaller portion compared to other places. While Applebee's isn't bad, it certainly feels like the quality of the food has gone downhill. I recently ate at Applebees, and had an alfredo dish with penne pasta. The penne pasta wasn't even drained after cooking, so my dish was watery. I also realize that ordering mac and cheese for a child will probably be Kraft mac and cheese, but it looked like it was three days old. Hard, crusty, and unappealing. read more

We have eaten at the Coralville Applebee's before and it was fine. The food or service wasn't amazing. We didn't even get to the food or service part this time. I came with my family (husband and two elementary aged kids) and were immediately seated in the bar in front of 4-5 tv's. Plus the little tv box at each table. The music was absolutely blaring in this section so I asked to be seated out of the bar. After two attempts she finally moved us a few steps out of the bar area. The music was so intensely loud and then the waiter was so long in returning to take our order, that we left. We don't sit in front of the tv during our meals at home and I don't want to pay to do the same during an evening out, let alone loud music on top of that. We won't be returning. read more

Applebee's is a chain restaurant that's basic American comfort food. It's okay, but I don't think of it as special. I used to go there about once a week, but then I started cooking at home more often, and got out of the habit of going. So it had been several months since I last went. This time, I had a piece of salmon with a sauce that was okay, but not interesting enough for me to want it the next time I go. I liked it well enough to eat it all, and the side vegetables it came with were appetizing, so I did feel I got my money's worth. I'll just try something else next time. I have had the lime chicken there in the past and liked it. I was disappointed that they have discontinued the maple butter blondie they used to have. Now they have something different called a butter crunch blondie, but since they didn't have the maple butter original I wanted, I skipped dessert and just ate something when I got home. Too bad. The maple butter blondie was actually the main reason I used to go to Applebee's in the past, and they discontinued it. Now my main reason for going back is gone. On the plus side, we had a very good waiter. He was knowledgeable, efficient, and pleasant to work with. I can definitely speak favorably about the service. I would consider going there again, but it's not something I'd propose to my husband when we're planning to go out and trying to decide where to go. Although the dine in experience wasn't as great as I had hoped, the car side to go experience was great. The person that took the order over the phone was very nice. When I arrived little over 15 minutes later, he promptly came to the car (in snowy weather might I add) and politely gave me everything that I needed. Friendly staff! read more

If I could give this a -1 one I would. Our server left a lot to be desired. She was slow, we felt like we were forgotten when we first arrived as it took her quite awhile to arrive at our table once we were seated. Food arrived - some being luke warm others were hot. My hubby was ill from the hamburger he ordered - not sure if it was improper handling, undercooking or both. Really enjoy other Applebee's locations - but NOT this one. By the looks from other reviews they need to address some issues and make improvements! read more
