Just got back from Texas Roadhouse. This is the first time I've been to this new location. I used to go to the old one, but Family is more oriented to going to the one in Coralville, but I went by myself tonight. My server was Oliver. He was very friendly, very knowledgeable and is great at his job I had a salad with blue cheese dressing and crumbles. Texas fries cooked perfect with ranch dressing and a 16 ounce ribeye cooked to the liking of myself medium rare more towards the rare side. Everything was great. I definitely will go back. I try the Jamaican Cowboy a margarita. It was excellent. I had two of them all in all a great time the ambience is phenomenal. We, a group of 11, came here on a random weekday night. The place was packed but the staff had no problem making room for our group. The waiter took our orders and got our food and drinks out in a timely manner. The food was delicious and the portion size was perfect. NOBODY COMPLAINED!!!! Pretty quick service even though they were busy with graduation celebrations. We were seated fast ( table for 3). Always great dishes and size. I love their sweet baked potato. I get the toppings on the side (butter, sugary molasses). The chicken is always nice, tender and juicy despite it being a a breast. The ribs were literally falling off the bone tender! So yummy! I always enjoy coming to Texas Roadhouse, especially this location (the new building looks great). We were welcomed in by our host Archie, who was very kind and quick to get us seated. Our server Cassie was extremely attentive and made great conversation. Here's what we ordered: 12 oz Ribeye with mash potatoes and steak fries 8oz Sirloin with mash potatoes and green beans Country vegetable plate - Sweet potato, mash potatoes with white gravy, steamed veggies, and a house salad. And of course, the rolls. Wouldn't be Texas Roadhouse without them. We also had some margs - Jamaican cowboy on the rocks and Original frozen with a kicker. Nice summery touch to the meal. Thanks to the friendly roadhouse staff for providing such a nice experience for us. Ordered the grilled pork chop. It came undercooked so we sent it back. When the manager brought it back it was extremely overcooked and flat. Extremely busy being Mother's Day, swamped line out of the building with an hour waitlist.. I got really lucky with the last seat at the bar. Restaurant was clean and its typical fun atmosphere. The staff, even while being completely swamped was beyond friendly and took great care of me. The lady that helped the bartender bring out my food also got my salad and rolls out despite probably having a million other things to do. My prime was delicious, hot and fresh, my salad was delicious-- and they didn't forget my special request for horseradish or no croutons. I've been coming to Cedar Rapids for work for the last 6 months. I've eaten at this location many times. The filet is cooked to perfection every time. Medium rare comes out warm and red every time. Perfect. I always eat at the bar since I'm traveling for work. The servers are attentive and friendly. Food comes out fast and hot. I've also had the porterhouse which was delicious. We showed up about 5:30 hoping to avoid the dinner crowd but we were wrong. There was still a 20-30 minute wait. They suggested we go back to the car. By the time we got to the car I received a text saying we were up next on the waiting list. The service was outstanding! Everyone was moving quickly getting food out and helping customers and even did their little song and dance at one point in the evening. We got our free appetizer for being a member and it was during a birthday month. We chose the breaded pickles over the breaded onion. It was a good choice. If I could give zero stars, I would. I went to Texas Roadhouse on Father's Day with my wife and kids -- our first time ever. I was excited. It turned out to be the worst dining experience I've ever had. Our server, Kennedy, took our orders -- but when I tried to change mine right after, she said "hold on" and never came back. My family got their meals. I never even had an order in. She didn't check on us once. We didn't get drink refills. Nothing. When she finally returned and placed my order, everyone else was already done eating. Then she brought the bill -- while my food still wasn't ready. She asked if I wanted it boxed to-go. On Father's Day. I said no. I didn't come to eat alone after my family was done. I tried to talk to the manager -- bald guy in a green shirt -- and he cut me off and started talking to someone else. No apology, no empathy. And I was the only Latino at my table. I want to believe that didn't play a role... but I can't ignore how invisible and unwelcome I felt. I didn't ask for anything free. My family, kids and grandkids all went here for my twins birthday. We all had excellent meals and are still talking about it! I had the best Filet that I've had in a very long time. You can always expect consistency at Texas Roadhouse. I had the 6 oz filet and shrimp. Both were perfect. The steak had ZERO fat or gristle on it and was still very juicy. Before I ask for a table I always ask about Prime Rib and if it was available at 5:30 on a Tuesday before we were sat. I was told that they still had Prime Rib. Fanastic! yeah no mexican we are eating STEAK I sit down and I order a Prime Rib Medium Rare. What was brought out to me was white, and well done. So the poor new waitress takes it back to the kitchen, then manager says that is as rare as we have it this evening, he tells me I would call that medium. (might I add there was no pink on this meat) He says can I get you a Rib Eye steak. I pause because that is not what I came for, I finally say sure. He says medium rare? I said yes please. Wait another 22 minutes and they bring me a medium steak not medium rare. One of the manager goes from walking 3.0 pmh to 1.5 and says we lowered your bill due to a cheaper piece of meat. I thought, WHAT?!!?!? Now I get the bill, full charged price for the meal. I called for the manager. There were two there. The man comes and says how can I help you, I explain the above. He says well the other manager mostly likely did not realize you were upset over the experience. (I wasn't till now) but we don't have to discount anything because we fixed your steak. I simply said ok, fine, he said would you like 10 off now. I said NO thank you I will write a review. he said I would like to give you 10 off so you dont do that. Really. We use to go here every other week before COVID, one night every 2-3 weeks, my treat to my self and to enjoy my three kids with not having to cook and it was NOT PIZZA (has a single mom it was big thing). Since COVID is over I have gone in less and less due to the reoccurring issues this place is having. and the lack of care even from their leadership on their customers enjoy the experience. No one is even smiling that works there. I have gotten errors and normally not a big deal but the 16 was done eating and there was only two of us by the time the 2nd piece of meat came. Chain restaurants are just that, the menu is reliable but the service not. Our salads arrived way before our drinks or appetizers. When ordering the drinks menu doesn't have prices, mind you I'll pay for a good glass of wine. But when told they're all $7, and instead you're charged $13 it's frustrating. I was brought here tonight to eat at this Texas Roadhouse. The place was packed! We arrived early on a Sunday evening, before 5 o'clock, and there was very little parking! Not even one handicap parking space was available for use! I couldn't believe how many people were eating supper so early! As crazy busy as it was, our party of 3 was seated right away! There was just enough people leaving, as there were people coming in or we got the very last table of the early dinner crowd, but we were grateful that there wasn't a long wait! We were seated toward the very back of the restaurant, in what looked like the only available table left in the entire place! Now, I'll be honest. I did not expect much from Texas Roadhouse. We had them in California as well and I never had a good experience at any of them! I probably ate at Texas Roadhouse approximately 3 times in all the years of living in California. Not once did I enjoy anything about any of my experiences! I thought that it was a poor excuse for a steakhouse! And I hated how dirty and gross it felt to have peanut shells that people had cracked open in their mouths, just sitting in piles on the floor! I never understood the intrigue! Those of you that didn't know of this time, let me tell you. They use to have buckets of peanuts in the shell on the tables and you could pop one in your mouth, remove the shell and toss them on the floor. It was one of the attractions that drew people to Texas Roadhouse, Just for the experience! Thank goodness they no longer practice this gimmick to attract customers. Once we were seated, our waitress came immediately to take our drink orders and just enough time for her to bring them to us and take our appetizer order, We ordered a basket of Rattlesnake Bites, which are similar to cheese curds with chopped jalapeños and Jack Cheese. They were really good! But what was the best, most amazing, "make you want to come back for" item, which apparently replaced the bucket of peanuts that use to be placed on the tables, is...Wait for it! Yes! You probably guessed it! Texas Roadhouse basket of warm, wonderful, slightly sweet, buttery dinner rolls with a side or two of their incredible whipped, honey, cinnamon butter that makes the hot rolls just melt in your mouth! I went nuts for these rolls! These Texas Roadhouse dinner rolls with their amazingly tasty butter is now amongst the ranks of noteworthy and hard to forget restaurant bread baskets! I want to commend the person or group of people who came up with this idea! These are so much better than the bucket of peanuts that use to be left on the tables! And lastly, all three of us ordered 12 oz sirloins and were given the choice of two sides. All of our sirloins were nicely charred and cooked to perfection! I asked for medium rare and my steak came with a beautiful color of pink with no blood seeping out! Perfectly cooked! Wow! I also ordered grilled mushrooms and onions on top! Sooooo good! And perfectly seasoned! Wow! I ordered their house salad which was vibrantly colored and fresh with a side of honey mustard dressing. And I decided to try their macaroni and cheese. I hardly ever order macaroni and cheese out bc I am always very disappointed. To my surprise, the Mac n' Cheese was delightfully creamy and the pasta was cooked just right! It's still shocking that their Mac n' Cheese is Kraft from a box! I may have not eaten Kraft Mac n' Cheese since I was a kid, but it must have improved tremendously! I enjoyed it! But next time, I will stick with my baked sweet potato! They do it just right! The wait staff and hostess were all on the ball! The house was packed to the brim, but they all kept it moving! I absolutely love this Texas Roadhouse! Our waitress Kayla was very attentive and courteous. Kayla was right on top of refilling our drinks. I ordered the 12oz ribeye medium cooked with a loaded bake potato and a cesar side salad. My steak was cooked to perfection and absolutely delicious! I inhaled it then remembered I should have taken a picture. My fiancé ordered the Chicken Critters with fries and ranch dressing. He absolutely loves his chicken critters. I went for dinner, food was alright, and I brought home the leftovers of the catfish I ordered. The next day I reheated it, it tasted the same, but the taste isn't the issue. The issue is that there was a whole tapeworm in my catfish. Now I'm worried that there might've been one in one of the peices I ate at the restaurant. read more
