Food was fantastic; salads, pancakes, desserts, mac and cheese, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, etc etc. We came as a family of four (all adults according to ages) and we each had a soft drink. Our bill before tip came out to be over $180-eeek. Is that right 4 @$29/person and 4 soft drinks? Our bill after tip was well over $200. Service was fantastic. Our waitress was friendly, offered great suggestions and checked on us without being overbearing. The restaurant has quirky and interesting artwork throughout. The menu has a huge variety from soups & salads to burgers & sandwiches to pasta and stir fr, along with their selection of brews, wine and cocktails. We tried the classic burger and Thai peanut stir fry. The burger was cooked as requested, juicy and just the right size. The accompanying fries were just the right crispness and saltiness. The stir fry dish was really flavorful with lots of veggies, chicken and rice. The serving size was enough to bring home for another meal! I have been a loyal customer of ReUnion's Sunday brunch for about two years, having eaten there alone and oftentimes with a party of eight. The food is pretty good, if a little pricey. But overall, the experience has been pretty good. Until today. Sunday Brunch begins at 10 am. Today, I walked in alone at 10:02. By alone, I mean there was nobody else in the place except the maitre d ',, the manager, the bartender, and the waitstaff. In other words, zero customers. Not a big surprise since it was a Sunday morning and ReUnion had just opened I was seated; my waitress, took my drink order, and I hit the buffet line. So zero-minute ticket time. The waiter brought my coffee and disappeared. Time passed. At about the five-minute mark, the manager came by to check on me. After 15 more minutes, my drink had gone dry. I could see the waitresses crowded around the gaggle of other waitpersons, gabbing about who knows what. She never came back... I got up and asked the manager if my waitress had gone off duty. I spoke to the manager and expressed my disappointment with the lack of service. I was the only customer in the place, and my waitress couldn't be bothered. The manager's response was to "handle me." She offered no apology. When I asked her how she would feel in my place, she double-talked, i.e., had no answer. I very politely told the waitress that I tip a minimum of 25 percent, but that today's tip would be two dollars. She, too, failed to apologize or offer any reason for her terrible service. And..... and... she had zero other customers. There are too many other buffets in town for me to put up with this substandard tableside manner. read more

Went to Reunion on a weekend late-lunch, had good food, and sat outdoors. FOOD: had their rotisserie chicken on a salad. The salad plus chicken had more than enough "excitement" and made for a very satisfying and filling meal. AMBIANCE: we sat outdoors. The tables were a bit uncomfortable and a little dirty but that's to be expected in spring. Still very enjoyable. SERVICE: perfectly fine, not much to mention. Outdoor seating tends to be a little less watched-over and this was the case but all expectations were met. I'd recommend this for anyone looking for a casual, good meal! read more

I adore Reunion. The brews are great. Patio is a slice of heaven. Staff is attentive. Location is uber convenient, just off the Strip with a plethora of parking. It has a top notch brunch and a worth-while Happy Hour. They have daily 'specials' on their food menu-- which btw has something for everyone. From sandwiches to tacos to soup to salad to pizza! You name it. I had to knock it a star as the food hasn't really been up to snuff the last handful of times I've been. We popped in last night and for example, my pork tenderloin came out insanely greasy with all its breading falling off and my bun too slippery to hold. Additionally, I get 'everything is more expensive these days' -- tis the times. But $16 for a sandwich and a handful of fries, ehh. Overall, I'll keep coming! My kids adore their chicken tenders and I enjoy a nice pint on a patio with my pup during Happy Hour. I just will be a bit more hesitant to come for dinner... read more

Ok now...these reviews are down selling (is that the word?) everything here. Been a million times, huge fan. First of all...the mac and cheese is one of the best I've had in my LIFE. It is creamy, rich, super cheesy, and almost tastes like the one they used to have at bread garden market. It is so so so good. (That's really the only thing I've ordered besides the pizza which is....) The service is great! Waiters are nice and friendly. Ambience is good too. Cool and I like the canoe w/ skelly on ceiling. Had a very disappointing experience with Reunion. $15-16 sandwiches (prices on their website are not completely up to date). The reuben was dry and somehow oily at the same time. The fries were dry. The caprese sandwich was the best item but the bread was soggy to the point of falling apart. They now charge an extra $1 PER ITEM for takeout. AND they forgot the fries to one of the sandwiches. They offered ketchup, which I agreed to, but didn't actually include any. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend this place. read more

It was a rainy day so I took shelter in Reunion. As I sauntered my way to a table, I was very thankful to dry off and feel secure. Very safe restaurant. Absolutely stunning decor. Really took my breath away. The interior has many flavorful paintings and televisions. Could be a great spot to catch the big game! Very clean too. A very cool spot. As it says in the name, this is a brewery, but there are many options. There's a lot to choose from and plenty for next time. There's also a ton of cuisine options, ranging from burgers to tacos to pizza. The service is super fast and friendly. Trust me, you won't be waiting long for food or drinks. I ended up getting egg. My first restaurant review ever. Great brewery if you like Ale beer. The only *real* draft beer selection was Nitro Irish Stout -- good head but absolutely no flavor!!! My wife got the last glass of house Chardonnay but no discount on their premium $9/glass.... Her 5 oz $23 Salmon Filet was much better on a previous visit; anybody with a gas grill could have done better. I had Chicken Marsala which was the smallest, $21 chicken breast ever. Tough and dried out. Vegetables were good. Reply to Kristin K.: You will not benefit from constructive criticism unless you read and comprehend. It was my wife's birthday. She chose the $4 house Chardonnay, and when she requested a SECOND glass you were out. Now she was forced to pay $9 for the premium as didn't want your other sweet wine options. Great way to treat your customer. Obviously you are not a beer drinker as the ONLY dark beer was the Nitro Irish Stout which tasted like brown water! The vast majority of draft beers on the menu were Ale and IP(Ale), and all others also were light beer. You had no response on the food so maybe there was some redeeming value. read more

Although ReUnion isn't quite four stars at the moment on Yelp, trust the most recent Yelpers who have consistently given ReUnion five stars. They are doing good things over here. I underestimated Reunion Brewery as "another place with pub food in Iowa City." It didn't even make my list of places to try eating at until some family friends asked to meet us there for dinner. OH MY YUM. Our server, Caiden (I think), did a stellar job caring for our party of seven. He skillfully knew when to refill drinks and when to ask for our food orders without interrupting our conversation. He remembered to upsell with desserts, which was a major plus for those of us who choose to eat the desserts. Nothing on the menu popped out at us but everyone was part of the clean plate club-- a phenomenal sign of delicious food. The falafel tacos, Caprese on focaccia, chicken BLT on focaccia, reunion chopped Cobb salad, and the brew pub pretzel were all among dishes we ordered and would endorse. Each sandwich comes with fries (or you can upgrade for cheese curds and some other sides). I can comfortably endorse the massive cheese curds too. Another quick note that the focaccia comes from Bread Garden Market-- you know it's fresh and delicious! DO NOT SKIP DESSERT. We had a turtle cheese, peanut butter cheesecake, and some sort of oatmeal pie with mouth-watering cinnamon ice cream. Geez, all of the treats were worth ordering again. I will happily add this to my list of places I'd recommend our friends to take their families for food. There's even a little gum ball game that I watched two children adore. Single best dining experience I have had in Iowa, from the delicious food to the excellent customer service. I want to move here over their Sunday brunch. Our party has a long list of severe and uncommon allergies and had called ahead. They modified the brunch buffet to make it safe for our party and were very thorough and patient in ensuring we were comfortable and our food was safe for our allergies. The waitress was attentive and the manager also checked in with us. Just an incredible experience overall and I will be back. read more

I came to Iowa City last February for College of Engineering event. I drove over from DSM (after flying in from OAK), and after checking in at the local Fairfield Inn, it was time for a late dinner. There was a Hawkeyes Mens Basketball game on the radio (vs. Ohio State) and I was concerned that I would hit a bunch of post-game traffic or full bars in my quest. That didn't happen, and my first "pub grub" choice had already closed their kitchen for the evening. So I circled back and strolled into the ReUnion Brewery. ReUnion is a big place and well positioned for game day or a relatively quiet dinner for 2. I sat at a high table in kind of an in-between place between these 2 worlds, and watch game highlights on one of the many TVs, while I ordered (what else?) a burger, fries, and an IPA. All were delicious, but best of all it gave me time to unwind from my all-day travels, relax, and give my mind to the good times ahead. read more

ReUnion is a great spot on the Coralville strip. The menu is diverse but doesn't try to be something it's not. Their Tortilla Soup is fantastic. I get it almost every time I go. Their beers are solid. When the weather is nice, they have a really nice patio where you can enjoy one of their local brews. The decor is really nice too. read more

We went to reunion brewery on a Sunday afternoon around 3 PM. The restaurant was empty, so the service and delivery of the food was quick. Unfortunately, that is really the only good thing that I can say for this visit. There were three of us. We started off by having the cheese fries for an appetizer. When they brought them out, my first thought was, "whoa. For $12, there should be twice as many." While they were good(let's face it, it is pretty hard to screw up fries with cheese and bacon on them) none of us really felt like we had more than 8 or 9 fries. For our meals. My girlfriends daughter had the Grecian pasta. While we each had the pulled pork and brussels sprouts. While the Grecian pasta was OK, there was definitely a funny aftertaste which caused the person who ordered it to only eat about 1/3 of the meal. The pasta was also not cooked enough and was on the harder side of al Dante. My girlfriend and I were very disappointed in the Brisket and Brussels. Once again, for $13, I would have expected more. Also, I feel I should say that both of us are huge Brussel sprout fans as well as great lovers of brisket. Having said that, neither the brisket nor the brussels sprouts were to our liking. Actually, we found the brussels sprouts to be soggy and rather flavorless while the brisket really seemed to be more of a pot roast than true brisket. Unfortunately, I don't believe we will be back. The food really wasn't very good and the beer was just rather average. Sorry. I wish we had a better experience. read more

I hadn't been to ReUnion since they switched from Mondos and didn't quite know what to expect but I was very pleasantly surprised! I went with some friends for happy hour. We arrived just before happy hour ended but our waitress was so kind and friendly she made sure to get our order in before the deals ended! I got a marg for $3, it was tasty but not too strong. I also got the salsa and queso appetizer ($2 off all appetizers during happy hour too!) and it was a very large helping! The queso was creamy and not too think and the salsa tasted pretty fresh. Glad to see another brewery open up in Coralville, in addition to Backpocket. This one is in what used to be mondo's (I believe) so it looks more like a restaurant than a brewery, but it's definitely a brewery. I went Friday rush hour so was a bit packed, but I just sat at the bar. They have happy hours deals till 6. I got the deviled eggs app, which was good, and you get a good amount of eggs. I got the ReUnion IPA and a Break a Leg! IPA, and then a 6 pack to go of Tank Puncher. I liked the ReUnion IPA the best. First time we came here it was on a whim. We were just driving through with no expectations. We have since gone back three times LOL. They are one of the few places that has Bumbleberry Meade from Groves farms on draft and it is the best thing ever! There a witch craft beer and the hermit are really good too. They have a lot of options for beers and drinks and wine. They also have a daily happy hour and other specials too.
