I had lunch at Applebee's in my hometown today. I ordered the new grilled cheese cheeseburger. It comes with a mini tomato soup and fries! It was very delicious! I highly recommend it! 2 of us had the perfect Margarita. You get Free chips and salsa With this drink. We got the chips and salsa 20 minutes after our drinks Came. If the chips had come sooner , I think it would have helped us fill in the gap of waiting out the food order. We had our son and his little daughters with us. We ordered from the kids' menus. They were not busy at all and It was pretty slow for having to entertain toddlers. We decided against dessert because we didn't want to wait any longer with the kids. The management was very nice. The server was very kind. I would not take my grandkids here again For lunch. It Was a lot more work than fun being we had to keep the kids entertained while waiting for their food to come. Food is decent - nothing bad but nothing so amazing to make it memorable or make me drive past other places to get here. Would eat here again, but we're only here overnight this trip. read more

Had I not had an Applebee's gift card, I probably wouldn't have gone here...but I did. I really like Applebee's food, but have not had great luck at this location. Our party of four, two of which were in their mid-nineties, were all in awe at how disastrous this place was. There was one server, who was also tending bar, and that's it. We received our beverages and proceeded to wait 36 minutes for our order to be taken. 36. It appeared that a few people clocked in and one of them brought us our food. The french fries and boneless wings were cold. Like, REALLY cold. The two orders of wonton tacos were okay temperature wise and covered in cilantro...so I thought. It was actually parsley. Decorative parsley is fine, but it threw off the whole taste of the tacos. Gross. Side note: While waiting for our food order to be taken, I actually pressed the "call server" button on the tiny kiosk because I honestly thought they'd forgotten about us. I would normally not do that, but that's how bad it was. The ENTIRE time we were there (post-button pushing), the red light was blinking on the table topped machine. It remained on even after we paid our bill. This restaurant had two tables of patrons and two people sitting at the bar. Being busy isn't an excuse. If Applebees's is looking for a location to shut down, I'd suggest they start with this one. read more

We had a gift card to spend and decided to go with the burger meal (sandwich, fries, and drink) couldn't leave without an appetizer. If I would have wrote a review a couple of years ago, would not give them more than a star or two but last couple of visits have been really pleasant recently and while conversing with the manager it is because the menu is not overly expansive anymore so the focus is more on quality of food and not quantity. The service both the times were good where the server was attentive and food was brought out quickly including the drinks. The food actually tasted good vs the cardboard/microwave quality from years past. There is always parking available for this location either right in-front or next to it at the shared parking lot. They decorate by the occasion so went around thanksgiving and then in December so always enjoy them switching the decor up. Fyi - this location has pull tabs. read more

I ordered from Applebees for delivery through Grub Hub and NEVER again! I ordered a $27 combo and the bill came out over $40 (even with free delivery through Amazon??) the delivery took 1-1/2 hours and the food was cold and mostly inedible. The lettuce and the burger bun were slimy, the waffle fries were all mushy and stuck together in a clump, the cole slaw had no taste. The ribs were cold and there was very little sauce on them. Obviously the food was made when I placed the order and was ruined 1-1/2hours later when delivered. What a rip off!!! read more

I've never been to an Applebee's before but Niki gave me an awesome first experience!! They were so charming and offered outstanding service, and kindness! Appreciated the honest recommendations and will be back for the Triple Chocolate Meltdown! I had a bacon cheeseburger with onion rings and broccoli, all which were great! Definitely priced well. I wasn't paying attention to where I was going and almost ran into a different server that was balancing 3 drinks, and she was super understanding even when I could've knocked her over! We brought in a wedding party of 9 people and our bartender (Josephine) was absolutely incredible! She was so attentive and sweet. She deserves a raise! Ryan, however, was the rudest, most disrespectful "manager" our group has encountered. Multiple people felt disrespected and he is the sole reason we closed our tabs and left for another establishment. Ryan (manager on 11/18 at 11pm) said we were loud, (which is fair for a manager to deal with loud customers), but then he made and inappropriate reference to mental illness and was severely lacking any and all social skills as well as his ability to pick up on social queues. A classic case of a man being in a role that they are severely unqualified for. Unprofessional doesn't begin to describe Ryan's behavior. Anyone who is involved in hiring should question their caliber of candidate validation. I can't reinforce how great Josephine was. I am sorry she and all other employees have to work for Ryan. read more

I used to love Applebees but stopped going there a while back, but since I was living in a hotel on a business trip I went into the Applebees in the hotel parking lot. The picture of that 12 oz Ribeye steak looked fantastic. I love steaks. Ummmm What a disappointment. I read that Applebees is trying to get customers back into their restaurants. Don't the owners eat there? My 12 oz Ribeye steak was 3/8" of an inch thick at the thickest part. 3/8" !!! You are not going to get steak eaters in there to eat a 3/8" thick steak. Let's start with the fact that no restaurant on this entire planet is perfect. However, this Applebee's is perfect for me. Whether I go to this Applebee's specifically or if I go to one out of town, I know what I am getting myself into. A chain establishment all with 99% similar menu choices and roughly the same design and layouts. That's just how it is. Growing up in Cottage Grove, I've had my fair share of events in my life that were celebrated at this particular location. Some good, some bad. I have also had spectacular experiences through the food and the staff at this location. On the contrary, I've also had some times where I had qualms about my time being there. Again, nowhere on this planet is perfect. Then again, this one is perfect for me. It is the only place (as of June 17th, 2018) that serves food till midnight and the bar is open until 1am here in this town. The entire staff has been far more personal, generous, and entertaining than any other Applebee's I've ever been to. After all, living in this town for my whole life, you get to know bartenders, regulars, managers, and the wait staff quite well. I cannot begin to put into words how much I appreciate the entire group of individuals that are on payroll here. Yes, it's a chain restaurant. Got the wrong drinks twice! Didn't get any dressing with the salad and the wrong one when we finally did...asked for the correct one and never got it! The waiter (Shawn) dropped an entire thing of marinara sauce on me. This was our third time at this location and each time was worse then the last. Needless to say we will not be going back! Do NOT eat here. Unfortunately, this restaurant is not what it used to be. Once, Applebee's was a Family restaurant where you could come and enjoy a great meal with family. My parents loved it. I chose to go there with them for my birthday. Before, this meant you would get some kind of dessert or something for your birthday. Though it's a small thing and of no value it was the thought that separated Applebee's from others. Now, after my father told the service staff we had a birthday in our party but the server chose to ignore that. We did get our bill though, of course. In short, there's much better restaurants with better food and service. Applebee's is a relic of the past and a shell of it's former self. Our server was R.P. Perhaps they were out of desserts or they have canceled the policy regarding birthdays. That's too bad--practically all other sit down restaurants have a birthday policy for patrons. This isn't your typical slow, snotty service. These guys take slow to a new level. Beware of the bottomless beverages - we have been cut off at 3 on multiple occasions. The food is great, if you like microwaved or deep fried meals, but that is always expected. My nachos took 45 minutes to arrive and were soggy, this has happened before. They replaced them but forgot jalapeños and the sauce I requested. Three stars only because the manager fixed our bill, deduct one for the combative server. We came here only because I had to pick up Ci from her Haunted House Gig on Hwy. 61. Its your typical Applebees, Menu is the same as any other Applebees. Our server was super nice considering I had to leave and run and get Ci before our food came, so she kept it hot in the kitchen for us. Despite it being incredibly packed, she was super attentive. I doubt we will be back here only because we have no reason to ever go to Cottage Grove again once the Haunted House gig is over but nothing should stop you from stopping here for dinner or Happy Hour. read more

Last weekend, some friends and I ordered Carside to Go lunch for 5 people. As the title would suggest, we never had to leave our car (a major plus in frigid MN). The food was ready to be picked up in less than 15 minutes, and it was nice and hot. We had a few special requests, and everything was prepared perfectly to order. All dipping sauces, dressings, etc were included and securely contained--they even included ketchup for the fries (unrequested). This place is absolutely awful. We came in after a wedding, and the the sign said they were open until 1am. It certainly didn't feel like we were welcome. They weren't serving food which was very disappointing, and they were very selective in who they served. They wouldn't serve one friend in our group, but wouldn't explain why (she had been drinking, but no where near being cutoff). The bartender wouldn't serve my friend who's ID had been clipped bc he changed his address, and he's almost 30. When the clock hit one, they literally ripped the drink out of my friends hand. I would think they would want to be friendly and make some tips, but instead they were terribly rude and just wanted to leave. Been here a few times. Servers are snotty, and slow. Food is disgusting, and microwaved. The only edible food is the stuff that is deep fried. We had a party of 6 adults and 3 children took us over 1 hour and 1/2 for a table. Once they told us they had a table and was taking us to seat us and it was not a table for us. When we finally got seated. It took a really long time to get our food. We were celebrating our granddaughters birthday! The two little kids were getting tired of waiting and hungry. Thank god I brought some cracker fish along for them. The food came out and almost everyone's food was cold. The manager came over Branden and was so rude....if I was the owner I sure would fire him in a heart beat! The manager complain that we were a large group of 9 to seat and wait on....really I don't think 6 adults and 3 children is a big group! This will be the last time we all go to that dump! My boyfriend and I went to Applebee's for a quick dinner. The quality of food was very good compared to other restaurants and even other Applebee's we have gone to. Our food was delicious, we had multiple friendly staff members including managers check on us throughout the meal. Coupled with a good happy hour deal we were absolutely satisfied with our trip.our waitresses name was Rianne and she was excellent she kept our beverages full and was very attentive and awesome!! Went for dinner with my wife after an awesome massage at The Healing Place in Cottage Grove (highly recommend). After placing our order and ordering a bottle of wine we watched as all of the tables around us that had came in after us were getting their food. Sheepishly our server came over and notified us that she had forgotten to place our order after we sat there for 40 minutes! She offered us a FREE appetizer which we had already ordered 2 of. Obviously the manager was watching as the server discussed this with us and clearly he saw the displeasure/anger on my face and soon after he came over and informed us that he would be buying our dinner and was putting a rush on it with the kitchen. Dinner took almost 2 hours. I will give them 3 stars because mistakes do happen and they went about it in the correct way. The manager did his job and he was lucky the bottle of wine was very cold which helped me be a bit more understanding than normal........and we had just come from a 90 minute massage.
