Lemme start off by saying my father-in-law can be a bit of a pansy, but he was very hungry after walking the mall for a couple of hours and he didn't wanna go to the whimsical Rainforest Cafe like I did, so we stopped here and were told there was a fifteen minute wait time... even though there were A LOT of empty tables/seats clearly visible from the mall midway. (I'm guessing they were probably short staffed and thus had designated those areas as "unavailable", but the optics are kind of... oof.) My in-laws were visibily flustered over this (which was sort of embarrassing for me), and I think the staff realized they had a "white Boomer" situation on their hands because they decided to seat us right away rather than sticking to the previously disclosed wait time. That said, we waited quite a while while seated for anyone to come by and get us water, let alone ask what we wanted to order... So I think ultimately we waited those 15 minutes regardless. The staff were all rather unresponsive and hasty... the friendliest employee the entire time was the kitchen guy whose only point of contact with us was to give us our food. Now, the saving grace of this experience was in fact the food. I got the chicken pesto pasta and it was AMAZING. Tasted so good (though I wish they'd offered me additional cheese on top), was well prepared, and was sizeable in porportion (I took half of it home to-go). Since ultimately we were there TO EAT, this heavily influences my rating upward. If you eat here, you'll enjoy your meal. But don't expect the staff to really give you much in the way of attention or kindness. Pricing is a little on the high side, but it is a "fancy" dine-in establishment, so perhaps this is to be expected. The ambiance was fine, just not really my thing (you might have guessed this by my desire to go to Rainforest Cafe)-- it's meant to feel upscale and modern or whatever. I had a layover in Minneapolis and though I wanted to visit Mall of the Americas, I did not want to spend my per diem on food court fare lol! I spotted Crave while walking by and decided to try it out based on the great yelp reviews-- and they proved to be accurate! The Ambience is what I remembered the most-- busy but elegant-- and great lighting throughout. The service was prompt and attentive. Although I was alone, I sat at a table and enjoyed a wonderful meal of 2 sushi rolls and a glass of Savignon Blanc. Crave is one of my favorite stops any time I see them! They have a robust menu, and alcoholic or non alcoholic drinks. We got lucky and came during happy hour paying an excellent price for my Cali roll and crunch roll. My two friends got three rolls, and saki as well. The menu doesn't have saki included oddly so this is something we had to ask about. Overall the server was kind, responsive and quick to deliver. The food was phenomenal! The sushi is usually packed full of flavor and minor modifications like no roe on my crunch roll was respected and followed through on. The ambiance of this place is relaxing and calm during when we arrived around 2pm on a Thursday. We stopped in at Crave for lunch while at Mall of America. We waited about 10 minutes for a table. Great! We were seated and a server promptly arrived. We ordered drinks and food. Hubs ordered steak frites, daughter ordered a rainbow roll, I ordered chicken stir fry. The server told us that chicken stir fry is his favorite dish :-) So, we were brought warm, lemon towels to cleanse our hands before the meal. Wonderful! Food was delivered in a timely manner. Steak frites was good but a modest portion. And covered in a sauce, which is not traditional. Asparagus was also included, but was not a bright spot. Rainbow roll was fine. Tasted fresh. It was average. Not bad. Possibly as Californians, sushi in MN is this way. My chicken stir fry was delish! First, it was large! Next, it had wonderful chunks of perfectly stir fried chicken. First off, the service for a weekday evening was awful. The place was nearly empty and took 20 minutes to receive our drinks. While our food was delicious, we watched as it sat under the warmer for 15 minutes prior to being served. Our server (along with several other employees) walked past it multiple times. Our waitress really made us feel so incredibly welcome and really helped us a lot in deciding what we wanted to eat and didn't make us feel judged at all for it. We were also given little towelettes to "wash" our hands before our meal! That said, the wait for the food was a bit long (~25 min) for fries, chicken wings, and some sushi, and the food was really only decent. This serves as a nice place to go for lunch when you want to just stay in the Mall of America, but I wouldn't go out of my way to come here, especially because the price isn't super cheap either. read more

Went here for a date night at the MOA. I love their sushi and opted for the California Roll, my fav. The presentation and freshness is always good. Husband had the BLT salad and a cup of wild rice soup. He loved it. One of his favorite meals. We sat at the bar because table seating was about a 25 minute wait. The bar spot worked out great. We have eaten at Crave in Edina many times but last evening we went to Crave at Mall of America. As the hostess was walking us and our two guest to our table a mouse ran in front of us. The hostess actually squealed, turned around and left us standing. Another hostess came up and made light of the mouse being in the restaurant and seated us in a booth. We were trying to decide whether to stay or go when a waiter came up with water. We told him the mouse was still over by the high chairs so he went to get the manager. When she showed up she said they had removed the mouse and dumped it down the garbage chute. Her not so helpful explanation was the restaurant is next to the mall's garbage chute and mice crawl up the chute. I guess I expected "I'm so sorry. That has never happened before. Can we bring you something or seat you somewhere else" or perhaps "Our kitchen is extremely clean, can I take you back to see." Something reassuring that mice in the restaurant was not a regular occurrence. Nope, none of that. We asked to move. Decided we will not be returning to Crave - ever. read more

Went in to eat today, not busy. Waited quite a while before someone came to my table. I placed my order, was brought a glass filled so full that if you pick it up, it spilled on you. After a little bit, someone brought me the wrong food, I told them it wasn't mine, didn't apologize for the mistake. Finally got my food, my drink was empty. The server seeing the empty cup, just walked away. I had to call her back, the fries tasted like burned leftovers, not fresh, total cost was twice what it should be. The un-craved Went during the day. The place was pretty empty so we sat at the bar. For some reason, it took us about 20 minutes to get a drink and for the bartender to take our order. That was my first indication that something was off. Anyway we ordered chicken lettuce wraps . The chicken was tough as shoe leather so we sent it back. We ordered a second appetizer, chicken, avocado, egg rolls. which predictable came 3/4 of the way through our entrée I will get back to that. I tried to play it safe in order a burger. The burger meat had a semi spoiled taste to it, and the bun tasted stale as if it sat out all night. I didn't complain about the burger. I just suffered and ate a few bites. The second appetizer arrived and it was horrible. The chicken again was extremely tough immediately needed dental floss and the hole appetizer had ZERO seasoning and seeing as these appetizers aren't cheap. We weren't going to pay for it so we talked to the manager and sent it back. Now that's about $40 worth of appetizers that they had to take off our bill. Will never be back. Decided to hit Mall of America and went here for dinner. It's a fancy atmosphere inside of a mall. We started with drinks I got blood orange margarita which was so delightful and refreshing. We were at MOA and was in a hurry to find a dinner place. We walked in and were able to get sat right away on a Sunday night. It was busy so we must've just had really great timing. Our server was a young man who was super friendly. We had asked him for recommendations on the menu and he was able to let us know what he likes and what is popular. We settled for a few appetizers to pick at and share. We got the edamame, vegan truffle fries, lobster avocado toast, and surf and turf sliders. Everything was great! Edamame was seasoned well and had lemons to flavor too. The vegan truffle fries were crispy and not greasy! The slider was delicious. The shrimp was perfectly cooked with a nice grill taste. The avocado toast was amazing. There was decent chunks of lobster on it and I loved the fresh pico on top. The prices are great too! I haven't ventured here only because I typically avoid more chain like restaurants but this one was great. The menu is pretty extensive. There is a regular menu and a whole sushi menu. The service here is attentive and great. The truffle fries are delicious. The sushi rolls were nothing special and didn't have much flavor in my opinion. My friend loved the firecracker shrimp and gets it every time. I tried two cocktails, the angry dragon martini and the blood orange margarita. They both tasted like really bad quality syrups. I've been here twice. The first time was last Saturday and I had lettuce wraps (3/5) and my 12 year old grandson had 6 pieces of tuna rolls sushi. Last night, I brought him back and he asked if he could have 6 rolls but 3 different kinds ( for a total again of six pieces). The waiter took our order and proceeded to bring out a giant platter with over 20+ rolls. I had ordered a dinner size salad and my adult son had risotto because he just had a tooth pulled. When I expressed the mistake, the waiter indicated he was new snd it was his second shift. The manager told me basically it was my own fault as they "never just make 6 pieces" ( even though they have a variety platter on their menu) and basically called me a liar. A fancy restaurant inside MOA. The interior is clean with nice design, service was prompt & attentive, food was mostly good. -Seafood Paella and Crave Wings were delicious. The paella was creamy and its seafood was fresh, flavoring just right. The wings were pre-marinated (yes!), fried and tossed in butter lemon garlic sauce - perfect. - However.... Chilean Seabass - the fish itself was good, but the accompanied mushroom sauce was not a good complementary... a bit on the sour side, which made the whole dish a bit disappointing. Made reservations as I know they get very busy. Got right in and sat at a spacious table. Our kids loved the burgers and macaroni - they especially loved the fries. I had the southwest chicken salad. I thought it was fine; maybe needed more greens for all of the toppings. I did like that it was chicken thigh rather than the traditional dry chicken breast. Partner ordered the chicken tacos and said they were delicious. The server was really great with our kids and their multiple special requests. Cocktails were excellent as always! This Mall of America Crave looked a bit hollowed out due to COVID-related restrictions. Tables were distanced, the bar was barren, and the atmosphere was quiet. I ordered a burger, fries, and beer at the counter, and soon it enough it was delivered. The food was excellent and the craft beer hit the spot. It was just too bad that at least for this visit, this restaurant's soul was missing. Here's to Crave getting it back as society reopens. read more

We added a side of fries, and thankfully, those were only $1 and really good. We shared the calamari and it was good. My husband ordered the Crave starter salad. Pretty big and tasty and only $8.50. I love sushi and ordered the Crave special Mexican roll. $20 - so pricy, and not that great, and not a lot of food for the price. We went on a Sunday and kids are supposed to be free but I had a $10 coupon from my Mall Coupon book and they DO NOT allow two promotions. So we paid for the kids meal and used the coupon. I've been here many times and largely consider this one of the better, and most consistently good, restaurants in the Mall of America. Unfortunately the competition isn't fierce, but Crave is good enough that this review stands alone and would still apply, despite the fact they compete with so few viable options. The most recent visit was with a group of 14. We called ahead and were seated in the outer area, as is the case with previous groups I've brought here. It's less visually enticing in the outer area, but quieter and more accommodating for large groups. Service was timely and attentive, polite and professional. Drinks were brought quickly as were the food selections and our group raved over the truffle parmesan fries. I had a waygu sirloin that was pretty good, but not as tender as i would have hoped given the $36 price. The accompanying green beans and side salad were fresh and perfectly prepared. In the end, this is a great option, especially when in the mall of America... and also has a very nice and yuppity bar if you're simply in search of a good happy hour destination. It falls short of 5 stars though due to the predictability and lack of a WOW factor. The sushi is ok, but basic fare compared to an actual sushi restaurant and menu items are really good, but not great. The service was terrific, water was served immediately and even a craft of cold water was left for us to refill. The food took some time as their system went down. I had a family dinner here on a quite busy night. Service was a bit too slow but the food was great. It is located inside the MoA, so you can park at the mall parking. The restaurant itself is very large and can accommodate hundreds of people, so reservation isn't that necessary. The Crave burger was amazing! Even my mom who doesn't like burger loved it. Highly disappointed by this place. I was going to call and complain but I was too concerned with my sons health and time got away from me. I was here last weekend with my family, my son has a lot of allergies but a severe one to peanuts. We ask the waitress if there's anything he can have. Keep in mind, if he can't, we're more than happy to leave or not give him any food as we came prepared anyway. She writes down his allergies and speaks with the chef. It's determined he can have some meat patties and rice. We get our food and everyone is happy! No reactions! I ask for a second order of rice, it comes with a chunk of ginger in it, but it wasn't a big deal, he's not allergic. Suddenly, he starts getting welts around his mouth, he's coughing, wheezing and his eyes are swelling. I have to give my son his epi-pen in the middle of the restaurant and rush out because he's having s severe allergic reaction. His rice, that was supposed to be safe was contaminated by some peanuts. I'm essentially trusting you and the chef with my sons life as he could die from peanuts. You tell me it's safe to find out it isn't. Fortunately for us, we know not to trust you again! read more
