Hate coming with the wait list because we didn't know about call ahead. We waited 40 minutes, and yelp said we were 5th in line, counter said 8 th in line. As all the call ahead walked in and bumped us down and down. As we decided to walk out, we were suddenly FIRST and could be seated... very weird wait list system that penalizes those that walk in over call ahead. Super loud and chaotic ambience. We visited NT again yesterday for lunch and I just felt that I needed to write a review. A year ago or so we visited and had just a mediocre experience, but yesterday and back in early June we had just fantastic meals and experiences. The food choices are very very good, quality is super and the service is wonderful. I would highly recommend their pizzas especially Wednesdays and their boneless wings. I've been wanting to try the Northern Taphouse for a while. The monthly Bloody Marys was what drew my attention. I finally made it out there, the environment was very relaxed, and chilled. A sports bar yet family friendly. We went around 6 which of course was prime time, but they have a waitlist you can call ahead or join the waitlist via Yelp. We joined the waitlist via yelp and checked in when we got there. It was pretty busy, we waited maybe 5 minutes before being seated so it was a really nice and convenient option that they offer. The Bloody Mary did not live up to my expectations. It lacked flavor. I trenched it with Tabasco to be able to even finish half of it. The toppings were good, I couldn't tell you everything that was on it but reference the image. I also go traditional wings with a dry habanero rub. Wings were cooked well, nice and juicy. I went there with 3 of my girlfriends and everyone had different items. I can't remember what everyone ordered, but I didn't hear any complaints. My first visit to a Northern Taphouse and the first impression was very positive. We received an upbeat greeting and were seated at one of the perimeter booths that afforded nice views of the good looking bar area, restaurant and numerous TVs. The menu is fairly large but unfortunately, for one friend at our table, did not include any wraps. And, if you like bacon, you'll love NT. They've got bacon on almost every burger and would probably be glad to add it to one of their three varieties of Cheese Curds...this must be a Wisconsin-based company. I ordered the Cherry Pepper smash burger on a pretzel bun (a nice option) and onion soup (also a nice alternative to fries or house chips). Our orders arrived in good time and our attentive server was close behind to check on the food and beverages. Unfortunately, the Onion soup was so salty it was impossible to enjoy after only 3 spoonfuls. The hamburgers were ok...but remember that "smash burger" means REALLY well-done! Overall, our table ranked their food; the small Taphouse salad (served in a ridiculously small bowl), Mango Chicken Quesadillas and a Black Bean burger...a 2.5. By the way, the company website boasts to be a "no-cookie cutter" group of restaurants. My buddy checked the menus offered in Lakeville, Plymouth and Woodbury locations...all were identical. We call B.S.! Bottom line...service was above average, menu was average, pricing OK, food was subpar, restrooms above average. Northern Tap was fine but definitely not worth driving out of your way to experience. read more

Finally decided to check out a newer restaurant in the Woodbury area. It's super popular. There was quite the wait...the question being...was it worth it? When we finally got our table, I ordered the spicy bourbon Hawaiian in cauliflower crust. I absolutely love Hawaiian but this was a different version. It was good but not out of this world. Northern Taphouse, you had me the first time I laid eyes on one of your comical Bloody Mary's (Bloody of the Month, to use the appropriate nomenclature). The Bloody Marys are the main draw for me, but it's also a good sports bar with a good beer list, good pub food and a comfortable patio. Every month you'll find a new Bloody stuffed with a comical amount of themed ingredients - it's consistently over the top and usually contains enough food to feed more than one person (they have some more civilized bloodies on the regular menu). Admittedly, most of my meals here have been stuffed into a pint glass, but the rest of the food I've had here hasn't been bad. The elote-inspired pizza is certainly something I'd have again, as is the eggs Benedict(ish) salmon dish. Their Cubano is more akin to a pork grilled cheese, but was a fine sandwich if you're not expecting anything close to traditional. Plenty of burger and wing options can be found on the menu, as is mandated by sports bar law. read more

We were craving a big Bloody Mary on Super Bowl Sunday. A quick Google search brought us to Northern Taphouse. They have a different Bloody Mary theme/flavor every month. They also have classic Bloody Mary options. This one was called the "Mother Clucker" and was filled with chicken wings, chicken tenders, hush puppies, and a classic skewer with cheese, beef stick, and veggies. I wish this Bloody Mary mix had a bit more spice. The bartender was super helpful and upbeat. Plenty of TVs everywhere so it's definitely a fun place to watch sports. I do not remember the gentleman that served us but he had face piercings. He was friendly, patient, helpful, and professional. We ordered the ahi tuna bites and they were amazing just like their other restaurants. I ordered the chicken salad, and my Fiance ordered the turkey Bahn mi. The food was great, and the restaurant including the bathrooms was clean. Everyone greeted us with a smile from the gal who opened the main door when we arrived, to the manager who checked on us to the gal who held the door when we exited the restaurant. Tried out this new restaurant in Woodbury last night and was not disappointed. The interior is very spacious and well laid out. The entire staff was friendly and very helpful. It was incredibly busy yet the service was fast, friendly, and efficient. We sat in the bar area and sampled a few of their tap beers. There is a wide variety and something for everyone. The bartenders were amazing. We had the nachos as an appetizer and they were very good. (All of the appetizers are two dollars off during happy hour.) One of us had the smashburger which was phenomenal and the other had the turkey bahn mi sandwich which was good if you like spicy. My boyfriend and I went to the northern Taphouse on a Thursday night around 7:00. It was busy and we had a short wait for a table. There wasn't a ton of space to wait for a table, but we were able to play some pull tabs to pass the time. Once we were seated, the service was top notch. I had some trouble deciding between an espresso martini and a caramel White Russian, our server, Emma, was incredible! She was patient with my indecisiveness and helped me select the espresso martini (hugs to her for that because it was PHENOMENAL) we also ordered the dill cheese curds to start and I wanted to cry when we finished the plate, calling them delicious doesn't even touch how incredible they were. If I were to choose my last meal, it would be a bathtub full of those cheese curds. When it came time to chose the entrees, I once again had to rely on Emma's expertise, man, I would trust that girl with my life, she steered me towards the spicy honey salmon bowl, claiming it's one of her favorite dishes there. I can see why! Not only was it Instagram worthy, but the flavor was through the roof, the portion size was perfect and it was clear that the ingredients were fresh. My boyfriend got the wing special (.99 wings) and waffle fries and he raved about his meal as well.
