I had ordered a beer and the server told us they were out of what I ordered so I cancelled it. Upon receiving the Christian's k, the beer was still on the bill. They removed it when I requested it. Ordered curbside pickup at Applebee's in Dalton, GA, and I honestly think I'd have had a more tender meal gnawing on my car's leather seats. Everything in the bag was hard, dried out, and tough enough to qualify as survival rations. If this is the future of dining, then congratulations -- Applebee's has perfected the art of gourmet shoe leather. But wait, it gets better. They forgot items from my order, so I got the full curbside experience: sitting in my car, waiting... again... for them to finally bring out what should've been there the first time. Nothing says "we value your time" like turning dinner into a parking lot endurance challenge. The only "flavor surprise"? The random almond slivers sprinkled in my chicken and cheese sticks. If I had a nut allergy, maybe that would've been the quick escape I needed from this culinary hostage situation. Instead, I was left to suffer through food so dry it could probably outlast me in a time capsule. Look, I didn't come to Applebee's expecting a five-star dining experience. But I did think my chicken might bend before it snapped in half like kindling. This wasn't dinner -- it was a stress test for my teeth and patience. If you're into jerky masquerading as food, missing items, and the thrill of playing curbside roulette, then buckle up -- this place is your dream. I got the three cheese penne with chicken. It was cold, dry and just all around bad. I will never go back.

We had a little hiccup at the start but when I got my Asian chicken wonton tacos I was blown away. They were the best I've eaten at an Applebee's in years. The tacos were full and had a good amount of chicken, slaw and sauce. I told the server to compliment the chef who came out to thank me. He did an amazing job. The combo was good too. If I'm ever in the area I'd again for the tacos. The service was good not 5 star. Always room for improvement. read more

Just driving through the area and needed somewhere to eat. Stopped here because of the all you can eat shrimp, chicken wings, and riblets. Hubby and I both asked for the shrimp first. When they came mine were about half cold, other half warm. His was fine. Very nice waitress came by and asked if we wanted to try anything else, I asked if the riblets were warm and she looked puzzled at me and said yes. I said that I'd try them then because the shrimp was cold on half of them. She ordered us the riblets and told me she would also get more shrimp for me since mine was half cold. Now 10 minutes later she comes by and says sorry about your wait, there's a party of 9 here and they ordered the same thing. So I'm wondering ... do they not have the ability to provide what they offered to all guests, or just the larger parties? Then she asked if we wanted more fries. No, I don't want to just eat fries or I would of ordered them. I was polite though because my mamma told me not to be rude to people. Well the riblets and new shrimp came and the shrimp was at least warm this time. In the end it took way longer to eat a little bit than it ever should have, and we felt that the quality was poor. We also felt that our service was poor not because the waitress, because the kitchen couldn't get the food out. Never was asked how my steak was to be cooked. It came out almost raw. Also wait staff is handling the very tops of glasses and bottles when serving. Did not see a manager on site. Seems that most of the staff is new and not being trained properly. I have eaten at more than 50 different Applebee's in the last few years because of my job. If you follow my reviews, you know it is because I know what to expect when I order it and I will not be surprised. Tonight after a long road trip to Chicago and on my way back to Atlanta, I decided to stay in Dalton and finish the drive in the morning. I headed to Applebee's for my standard steak and bourbon. When I walked through the door, I was pleasantly surprised to see that this location was physically different than any other location I had ever been to. It was open and inviting. Gone was the dark dingy bar and overhead bar storage. The bar top beer dispenser was relocated to the wall on the end of the bar. A major plus for anyone who wants to sit at the bar but shows up later in the evening and the only seats that are used to be available were behind the draft beer station. Now every seat at the bar has direct access to the bar tender and a great view of the plethora of televisions in the bar area. Booths have been replaced with tables and chairs, with a line of padded bench seating with tables and chairs along two sides of the perimeter of the bar. A very upscale modern decore abounds. Even though I know I am not sitting at a 5-star Atlanta bar restaurant, I certainly do not feel that I am sitting in an Applebee's. It is a much brighter and vibrant experience. I now feel based on comparision that it may be a bit dark in regular locations. As for the food, I ordered my standard 9oz sirloin and 2 sides of mashed potatoes. (As you know I long gave up ordering the broccoli because it disapates heat so fast it always arrives to the table cold). Sirloin ordered medium well and was done perfectly. Mashed potatoes were great as always. (Not rocket science to make mashed - but you would be surprised what I see, eating on thw road 200+ days a year) As stated in numerous reviews over the years, Applebee's will never win a Michelin star for fine dining, but the food for the price added with the service is almost always great. If the food does not meet you expectations at this price, then your standards are entirely too high. As for service, this location shines. Heather behind the bar is exceptional. Prompt service (and the bar is full tonight), freindly and always with a smile. When in the area and headed to Applebee's to sit at the bar, hopefully she will be here to serve you. She has been here for 8 years, so hopefully you can experience her southern hospitality! Some side notes I think that are worth adding: The bathrooms here (and I can only speak abouth the mens room) are devoid of the stupid "apple" tiles. Every time I have used facilities in the other restaurants, I always had the feeling that I was in kindergarten. I realize that that was the compny logo, but in that application it seemed childish. The fixtures are updated and the door has a transluent panel. Very modern. The only negative is that they have one stall and one urinal. Perhaps small for the number of people this place seats. Additionally I think the stall (built to accomodate handicap personnel) is too big. You could turn a semi-truck around in that place. Plus 3 points for decor..... minus one of size and utilization of space. The computer stations for servers have been relocated. One is behind the wall that the draft beer is on and they have built an entirely new station in the dining area. This eliminates unnecessary conversations (and wasted time) between the servers and the bartender. Servers only need to come to the bar to pick up drinks. With the new "boothless" layout, this location has an easier time of seating group of more than four by sliding two (or more) tables together instead of waiting for the one large booth space to empty. Lastly, I just want to point out that this location has numerous "Veterans Only" parking spaces. Some locations have one and most have zero, so it was nice to see that there was some acknowledgement for service personell (I retired after 21 years of Naval Service). All in all I give Applebee's a huge thumbs up for this location and the changes to bring this brand into this century! I love the new atmosphere! I will be sure to stop at this location when I travel on I-75 to or from Atlanta to support the changes that were made here when they completely rebuilt this in February 2014. Unfortunately now when I travel to "standard" Applebee reataurants, I will be slightly let down because of what I know they are capable of being! A quick stop to Applebee's and it was not a good one. Stale nacho chips and a very salty 2 meals. The Bourbon chicken and the wonton shrimp stirfry dish were both pretty oily and heavy on salt...not something we would ever order again. Staff were standing around talking when we walked in and it took a couple of minutes for someone to come up front and seat us. No need for pictures... food was not empressived! read more

Had reasonable lunch prices and some really tasty burgers and sandwiches! I got a cheddar bacon grilled chicken sandwich, and the chicken was perfectly juicy and tender. Our server was so nice and had a good conversation with us, she was awesome. Only thing I can say was both the women's and men's bathroom (according to my dad) smelled like pee, but other than that everything else was great. read more

Applebee's Dalton We were in Dalton for a meeting at the Dalton Convention Center and we had been given a 10% coupon off our Applebee's meal. Walking in, this location was noticeably different - this was a light, airy and open sports bar. We were greeted promptly and seated at a booth next to the bar area. I asked for the GF menu and the staff promptly brought the Applebee's allergen listing. I chose the GF Southwestern Chicken Salad, Loaded Potato and an Arnold Palmer to drink. Our waitress informed me that the baked potatoes were not available until after 5PM so I cancelled the potato since the potatoes were not available for 2 more hours... My husband ordered a juicy bourbon bacon burger, a side salad, and side onion rings. The husband's side salad came very quickly, drinks were refilled, and it was followed shortly by the rest of the meal. Both meals were yummy and refills kept coming. After our meal, we opted to avoid a sweet dessert and we paid our ticket. With the 10% off coupon, our meals were individually $12.01 for mine and $17.75 for my husbands burger, 2 sides and a drink. This was a change of pace for my husband and I - and we enjoyed our visit to Applebee's - Dalton on a rainy Saturday afternoon. Anyone would enjoy this Applebee's if they like a moderately priced sports bar chain, good food, drinks, relaxing atmosphere and good service. We will be back the next time we are in the area. Service was a little slow, but the place was packed at 7:00 on a Thursday night. Our appetizers, the chicken wonton tacos and the tomato basil soup, were very good, as were our entrees, the double crunch shrimp and the sirloin topped with blackened shrimp and Parmesan sauce. If I could leave zero stars, I would. I couldn't even get past the hostess stand without smelling the horrible stench of pee or puke or something nasty. We almost left at the first sniff. We decided to stay after being on the road for 15 hours. The hostess "cleaned" the table and walked us over. The chairs were FULL of crumbs and slimy food. The floor under our table had WHOLE pieces of pizza on it. If the dining room looks like that, what does the kitchen look like? Disgusting. My husband and I went here to get some food. We had so much food we had to take it home! I had two Strawberry Dolaritas and it was so good but either I'm a lightweight or their drink was packing some strength! I love it. We had the artichoke dip and I had an appetizer and he had a steak. Food was awesome but what was even more awesome is the server who kept coming to see 1) if we needed anything and 2) to fill our drinks and make sure we had all we needed. You know some servers can be annoying but this server only came over infrequently to see if we were OK. We tipped him big because he deserved it. Went to eat lunch with my wife. The place looks very dated. The waiter took us to our table and as we walked to the table I noticed that some of the other tables didn't look like they were cleaned very well. Got to our table and it was still dirty. The waitress came over to take our order. We told her that we didn't want to eat here and we were leaving. She asked why and I told her that the table was still dirty. If they can't clean a table then I don't think they can clean a kitchen either. Just my opinion. read more

It had such a fun dark environment inside which for some is either a plus or a minus that's totally up to you but I loved the old restaurant and how at home it made you feel when they upgraded the restaurant I hate going now the food is great but I can't get past the new menu when I crave the old. Okay so Dalton is my hometown, but over the last several decades of my life I'm perplexed by consistently bad food and bad service we get there... what is it about Applebee's? I'll quit going back for a couple of years, someone will drag me back for an event, and it's always bad. Our last visit was over the holidays, and yes it was reasonably busy. The food was acceptable, but we never received any drink refills despite asking twice, and the same was true of to-go boxes. We stopped here for an early lunch in our travels South. Because of the early arrival time we were one of the first for the day. Our wait staff did a really nice job. She was friendly and helpful in offering refill on drinks and getting containers for leftovers. We pick items off of the section of the menu that was $ 7.99 guaranteed in 12 minutes or free. Our food arrived in 8 minutes. It was served hot and had a nice presentation too The restrooms were clean and adequately stocked. Typical Applebee's aside from the fact that it is always packed around the bar even late at night. They will charge you extra for EVERYTHING at this location so be prepared for that. Passed out patron at the bar is never a good sign. His drinking buddy was slurring his words and left the guy sleeping at the bar. Eventually the manager came over and aroused the drunk. Food was disappointing.The boneless wings were hot even though they were ordered as mild. I ordered a classic burger with cheese and sweet potato fries. The burger was held back because the fries weren't made yet. I was offered the food seperately. Nice try but when the food arrived there was nothing on the bun but cheese and a beef patty cooked to a crisp. When I ordered I was asked if I would like the burger pink in the middle. I suggest they not offer a choice if well done is what always comes out of the kitchen. Unfortunately I think the staff was doing there best. I get this is a chain with a average reputation. This location did not even meet the low standards I have experienced at other Applebee's I have visted.
