Greeter was slow to say hi, painfully slow to respond (stood and stared at us like we were supposed to initiate conversation with her mouth hanging open), didn't listen, wore perfume that was WAY too strong (gave me a headache), and then took us to a table that was wet, still had food crumbs on it and then asked my 11 year old to help her dry the table with one small bar napkin. Floor is sticky, bathroom was worse, food was mediocre. My girls ordered two separate meals - chicken taco and quesadilla. No difference between what was brought out except that the quesadilla was cut up. Taco didn't look like the picture - was flattened and cooked like a quesadilla, not the soft shell on the picture. Paying was painful - we just wanted to hand the waitress our gift cards and credit cards to pay, but then she started the process in the table kiosk. Overall, disappointing experience. read more

I have enjoyed Applebees in many other states but I wasn't happy with this one in Grand Forks. I came to enjoy appetizers that I usually do. (1) the food portions were smaller than what I am used to in other places...the pictures for the waffle fries online on their menu look like there are a bunch of fries but I didn't see many on my plate, (2) the chicken wonton tacos were lacking any flavor except for the skin which was a fun and light version of wonton crisps but in shell form...the tacos only had mayo based coleslaw and the chicken (but I asked to Substitute Shrimp and the friendly waitress said she could have the kitchen Substitute chicken for Shrimp so I was happy at first BUT when the bill came I was charged $4 that she didn't tell me about which confused me and disappointed me because the waitress said a substitute was fine and didn't tell me I would be charged extra), (3) the chips with the spinach with artichoke dip had way too much salt all over them so I had to rub it all off from each chip. (4) salsa for the chips were too spicy. I won't be returning to this Applebees. But that's mostly because I was told I would be able to substitute shrimp for chicken so I assumed that meant, in any food establishment, that it would mean I am not charged. So I didn't like that I was not told or given a choice of keeping it all vegetarian with extra veggies since I don't eat chicken or any kind of meat. Second time we have tried to get a decent Bourbon St Steak at this Applebee's and it has been BAD!!!! OVERDONE and a huge piece of gristle through the middle. Also, potatoes taste instant and do not need all that junk sprinkled on top. Whatever happened to the real cut up potatoes and onion that used to come out sizzling on the platter? Uffda Applebee's you just can't get it right!! Never been a huge fan of the chain but though I would try this again because I won a gift card and a friend wanted to go here.... service was fast but only because it was like a ghost town in there... service was friendly and polite,,, Food was not the best,, had Pork chops and mashed potatoes..... the highlight of night was when a couple came in with there dogs and sat in a booth across from me... these where in no way service dogs!!!! I normally really enjoy Applebee's, however I had the worst food ever there today!! Waitress was good, but the burgers that were served were WET with grease. So much, that my husbands burger drained out on the plate with grease when he picked it up, it was horrible. My napkin was also full of grease. Onion rings overcooked too. Came here on a Monday night for half priced apps with a friend. Which is a great deal by the way; half priced appetizers during happy hour. Waitress was nice and very attentive. I ordered the spinach artichoke dip. Which came out very quickly. Did look like it had been sitting under a heater for awhile though, it had some brown, crusted up dip on the sides. Been coming here since we moved here last April. Starting around December we'd get this sweet girl who had just had a child. We'd always ask about the babies and she'd always ask us how we're doing and she'd always remember our names. We've never had a server who we felt such a good connection with. We went there again tonight hoping to get her again but sadly we got such a dull server who didn't seem to care for us the way the other server would. The Applebee's in Grand Forks is well maintained on the inside and outside, is clean, and attractive ... for a chain restaurant. I had not eaten here in quite some time and, for lunch, I ordered the chicken tortilla soup and chicken quesadilla for my meal. The soup was good, but the quesadilla was quite bland. I am a quesadilla snob, so take that into account, but when you eat a quesadilla and your main thought is, "Where is the flavor"?, then that is a bad sign. Why Applebee's will never get my service again: 1. Don't have a menu with the header "starting at $9.99" with the "starting at" in small letters under the big $9.99. When we asked how much something was (because there wasn't a price next to any of the options) the waitress says "ummm Im pretty sure everything is $9.99, let me go check." She comes back and the meal is 19.99. Don't try to trick us with advertisements. 2. They were out of the next dish we wanted so had to order something else that we didn't want 3. Asked how much it would cost to get an extra tortilla on the side and the waitress goes "oh don't worry about it I'll go grab you one." Grand forks applebees was one of the worst service i have ever had. All I wanted to do was come to applebees get a few appetizers of spinach artichoke dip and leave. They refused me to get it and told me I could only have it with a combo appetizer. This makes no sense. I am upset at this refusal of serving a valuable customer. Also the food was spit on. First of all our bartender who served our food was great and the food was very good, when we asked the bartender if they had malt vinegar for our fries he graciously checked and informed us they did not. A manager came to the bar and explained that since Obama , specifically Michelle Obama they have to list all their ingredients and calories. I guess it escapes me that you couldn't just get malt vinegar and list it as an ingredient. I don't think Michelle Obama specifically said no malt vinegar. My husband's shrimp cocktail sauce did not list any specific ingredients so obviously that must not be on the Obama list of banned items. Our table was incredibly sticky, like 10,000 candy covered baby hands had been all over it. The waitress insisted it was clean. I asked her to please come clean it off. It took her nearly 15 minutes to do this task, and the place was not at all busy. Moving on, all of the food comes out for our party, except our two orders. She tells us she just out in the order three minutes ago because she forgot as it was on the back of her notepad. She said it was because this was her first big table. Excuse me? The wait staff at Applebee's are absolutely atrocious. If you're not a regular or a pretty face, forget about getting any sort of decent service. It wasn't that people didn't come to the table, either. I was there with a group of 7 other guys. They're all rather fit guys. The table next to us had guys that looked like Frat Boys (stereotype). The main waitress, Nikki, was working that table & my group like no tomorrow!! I asked several times when she came to the table for a menu and a refill on the water. She said she'd get those right away. I asked several different times, but didn't make a fuss about it. In a way, I wanted to see just how long this would go on. At some point, I figured she'd remember at least the water. Just when I'm getting ready to leave, she looks at me and says, "Oh, I forgot your water! Did you still want to order?" Now, I could have mentioned this to the manager that was floating around, came over to our table, and conversed with the various guys in the group. I could have gotten up and taken my empty glass to the bar for a refill (maybe). Instead, I was curious how long Nikki and the rest of the wait staff that was serving lots of beer to these various tables would go. Advice: if you go to Applebee's on Columbia Rd, avoid starting the night out on water. I was going to have a few beers, but only after getting water. Also, avoid Nikki! read more

My husband and I (and sometimes our kids) always go to Applebee's, it's one of our favorite places. They have a wide variety in their menu of items to pick out, and they have a great 2 for 25$ deal. Their perfect margarita (plain) is very delicious and I get it almost every time I go there with a side of water. The food is great depending on the cook that day. I would give it 5 stars, however some days they have a cook who isn't that great and I usually get a really bland (and cooked wrong) meal that day. For example, on a good day, the 4 cheese mac n cheese is amazing with the right amount of sauce on their chicken. On bad days the noodles will be dry and there's little to absolutely no sauce on the chicken at all. We will still go there though, we love the manager and the food. read more

We found Applebees service and food Awesome. I ordered a steak medium rare, It came out medium rare, and was seasoned perfectly. I asked for my vegetables to be cooked longer, and it was done. My daughters noodle dish came out seasoned perfectly. The waitress was very friendly, she brought my 3 yr. old granddaughter her high chair and crayons right away.
