Applebees as a whole I think is really trying to improve. That being said this location is doing very well at giving it a good shot. They are not very fast, but I think that's a staffing issue. They did their dang best yesterday to get us our food asap. We sat down at the same time as probably 5 other tables. The ambiance is still the same neighborhood feel. The menu is constantly changing so there is always something for everyone. Three of us ordered the new omg cheeseburger and it was very underwhelming. Weirdly it lacked cheese. I have visited this establishment 4 times in the past week in a half to pick up food. All 4 times the employees are sitting at the side table by the bar talking amongst themselves and about other employees. They aren't quiet. They do not greet you when you come in. They continue to carry on with their conversations. I sat at the bar for 10 minutes waiting for someone to acknowledge me, to pick up two drinks. Service was insanely slow and just unprofessional. Multiple servers/waitresses were at the bar on their phones speaking with other customers rather than tending to their tables. Food was ok but wasn't overwhelmingly fresh. Was just astonished by how unprofessional the waitresses were, having conversations with other servers on cell phones during working hours. Their Carside to go is a joke! I checked in online when I got there. After about 10 minutes I called the phone number on the sign and spoke to a man inside. He took my name and got the spot number I was in and said someone would be out in a few minutes. 30 minutes later I called again to check on it. Stopped in last night to check out the redesigned restaurant. Our waitress was very inattentive. She stopped back only twice. She only had two our three tables and they were not very busy. We went to dinner around 7pm. Were seated right away and waitress took our drink and food order promptly. What turnd us both off was how dirty the floor and table was. As we ate our dinner we observed the bus girl. As she cleared the dishes from tables that left she just swiped the table with the same cloth for all three empty tables. She quickly just swiped all the food scraps and silverware wraps on the floor. She needs some training . Also, our waitress brought us this new machine thing to pay with credit card. We've come here at least a half dozen times over the past year and have never had bad or even mediocre service. Wait staff is always attentive and very pleasant and the food is too notch for chain restaurant/bar fair. We don't expect Cordon Bleu quality but we are always pleased with what we do get. We like going on Mondays for burger night (everry burger is $6.99, which can be nearly half price). We also like to just order a bunch of appetizers instead of a meal. read more

We stopped in Janesville for a quick bite on our way back from Chicago to Madison. We figured hit Applebee's they are usually quick and fairly priced for what you get! We were greeted at the hostes station by two people that seemed to be really pre-occupied with something staff related..I realized the easiest way to avoid any contact with them was to shoot for the bar where there seemed to be plenty of seating! The restaurant itself seemed to be fairly busy when we entered but then soon realized it was busy with many staff and not customers, this was 7:30 on a Saturday night!!!someone came over set down a couple of menus and left..we watched the staff at the bar joke and converse among themselves and also at the wait station with several servers chatting and horseplay, time started to pass as we had not received water or had any type of order taken and staff were walking past every minute in both directions and finally is said excuse me miss and a woman named Tiffany said yeah? I said can we have some service please and she says with a long paused blank look on her face Okay? Me and my wife looked at each other and were kind of shocked! We later received service from Lexi who was outstanding!! The food was good as well, we sat and had a pretty good show of the wait staff as this Tiffany continued to go from the wait station and bar and laugh and mach me and my wife, Also we watched our waitress cover 3-4 tables and the person that was working the bar area (our area) had one table and screwed up the tables order, we over heard them talking about how terrible there service was and the waitress kept saying I'm sorry over and over!!Again she only had the one table!! First off the host did not know where to go! it was like playing musical chairs!!! Second of all our waitress did not bring all the drinks to the table and mentioned nothing about their whereabouts. We started off with the spinach artichoke dip which basically was just chips...some $9 chips...We then finally gave into the sever's harassment and ordered their $0.25 wing special where she then decided to tell us we can't order 50 of them; however we didn't even ask to...She then asked if we wanted any ranch/blue cheese and of course we said yes to only find out that it was going to be and EXTRA $0.25 charge for RANCH. uhhhh from all the restaurants I have been to I have NEVER ONCE been charged for a pathetic little cup of RANCH!!! To top that off there's also an additional charge for carrots and celery!! like really, carrots and celery, one of the most basic side components of an order of boneless wings, they're literally cheaper than the cheap antibiotic half coated fried chicken they use. Once I got what I expected to be the five boneless wings I actually just got 4 of them and a little sad nubby crust... Perhaps the most, I guess you could say, shocking moment of the experience was when I ordered my second drink. So far, the Applebee's experience was dismal so I thought more alcohol would lighten the mood. I let my server know that I wanted to order a gin and tonic, and she proceeded to ask me, "uhhhh wHaT??" I responded with, "what," as well, confused by her questioning of me ordering such a simple drink (liqour+mixer). I then offered to write it down for her; however, she declined and just told me, "I have kids so I don't drink alcohol.." well thanks for letting me know I guess you're better than me, but you are a sever who should have basic knowledge on BASIC drinks. She then leaves my table and comes back to inform that THE BARTENDER, yes the bartender, had JUST LEARNED how to make a GiN aNd tOniC. At this point I am just nervous for what I am about to be served...So the drink hits the table and It is ALLLLLLLLL gin well I guess it's not the worst thing considering the first drink was all water...When it came time to pay our server was HOVERING over me as I paid and was prompted with the tip screen. sorry but it's time for you to go you've caused enough havoc. once she left we looked left then right and the coast was clear and we were OUT! Went as a group of 8 for a birthday. 2 kids and 6 adults. We were seated relatively quickly for such a large party and the place was slammed. The staff was honestly trying very hard but there was mistake after mistake. our meals came out in waves, the main dish and then the potato would come out 5 mins later on a little plate. Things we asked for had to be asked for multiple times. steaks were cooked 1 degree more rare than ordered. Mine came out so rare it was still cold in the middle. The plates were a mess, etc. The were OVERLOADED. I do enjoy a wealth of healthy meal options on Applebee's menus as well as the pick 2 options. this particular restaurant needed some serious help though! read more

Had dinner here...fantastic! We both had the chicken Parmesan. Breaded chicken breasts, fettuccine & a very good tomato sauce. So very good. Good service, good food. Chicken was maybe a bit too crispy on outer edge which made it a bit dry on edges but very good!
