We generally love Applebees restaurants. Here in McComb..? Not so much! My wife and I Arrived at 5:00. pm and were seated within minutes. The place was nearly empty. The hostess was sweet and brought water. Fifteen minutes later the server took our orders. We ordered the two for $24 with salads 6 pm... still no food. I requested a beer in the brewtus glass and my wife requested a glass of wine with our meal. Finally around six a manager comes by and I stopped him to ask for help. Went in 30 minutes before close for my first trip to an Applebee's in years as I was passing through McComb on business. Hostess was polite, server was great and didn't rush me, got quick refills, food was much better than I remember Applebee's being in the past, and the manager was active on the floor making sure everyone had what they needed. As expensive as fast food is getting, this place is a great value. Also noticed several items marked as gluten sensitive, which I'll keep in mind in the future as two of my kids have celiac disease. I met a group of 10 high school seniors here this afternoon to celebrate their graduation early. The manager practically rolled out the red carpet, greeting us and congratulating the students before introducing the waitress. The waitress was very patient and efficient. Best during lunch hours. At night, the food can be hit or miss depending on the activity. You might get old chips or fried food cooked in oil that is old or reheated so it looks super brown or chewy or taste weird. Alway stick with the Bourbon steak. I've had a decent burger here a couple times before. Today's early lunch was not a good experience. They love their music LOUD! and conversation was out of the question. Today's burger was charred and dry. Service was adequate until I asked to have the music volume lowered; then I was ignored. It was apparently considered an unreasonable request. The service was absolutely terrible!! The waitress could not remember anything at all, it was aweful. We all three had the all you can eat shrimp, wings, and ribs and she came back twice even after originally writing it down to see what we ordered again.... Never experienced that in my life, I thought she was kidding at first. You can forget a drink refill, because she forgot. I had to get up and go get it from the bar myself. We thought we were going to have a nice evening and dinner, we were seated in a timely manner, our waitress was sweet and good under the circumstances but my boyfriend order 2 alcoholic beverages, the first one was great, second was completely wrong, we sent it back. Waitress came back and said it was what he ordered just a different whiskey, it didn't have any whiskey in it. So manager- John- "remade" it. I literally WATCHED him pour the said drink in a strainer and pour in a different glass. He didn't drink it because it still wasn't correct. There is something to be said when human beings come together in dire situations to produce commendable results. Makes me proud to be the red-blooded American that I am. I got to have that experience at my last visit to this Applebees. The day before the whole state was a sheet of ice. One of the most brutal winters south Mississippi have ever seen. I figured for sure when we walked in the door that there'd hardly be any workers in and that the visit would be miserable. I was wrong. Although they were obviously half-staffed, my party could not tell a difference.We were served with smiling faces and the meal was just as expected. I myself have worked minimum wage jobs, and I highly doubt I would have been as ready to serve as the team at applebees was given the conditions. Either the manager rallied the troops or they have just hired that good of people. Inside service is wayyyyyyy better than to go service here . Just order in and save yourself the frustration. I've had so many issues with to go service, along with my friends and family. Everyone I know refuses to order to go from Applebees because you'll probably be passed through four different employees before someone actually confirms your order. I had to repeat myself too many times. I don't care how busy you are, don't pass the phone to other employees when I'm mid sentence and trying to place an order. This is why you should have specific employees to take to go orders , do you not?????? Also when I tried to tell the manager how upsetting it was and the attitude given to me over the phone , he made every excuse imaginable. So this trip the staff made this choice for dinner EXCEPTIONAL. Our hostess Keira greeted us with a smile and sat us promptly and comfortably. Our waitress Meishon was fantastic. and the guy Trevon(?)clearing the dishes as we finished had us asking ourselves... Are we really at an Applebees?!? This type is service needs to be recognized. After a long day at work , they made this last minute decision to dine here a GREAT decision for us. Thank you for being awesome. Little bit of a weight cause they are understaffed. Serving was fine. They have $1 10oz PBRs all day, everyday.

After taking our names and telling us it would be a 20 minute wait we were told we had to go outside and they would call us. Multiple other groups walked up and were seated right away. After 40 minutes we checked to see how much longer and were told the manager entered our info incorrectly. When we complained about waiting in the cold and never being seated the manager became rude showed us the number on the door to complain to and told us he didn't want our money. read more

My family and I went to Applebee's tonight as a family outing. First the host set us at a table and when we requested a booth she stated non were available. Exactly 2 minutes later she some attempt to see some people at a booth next to use so we ask again. She still was reluctant to sit us at one. It was me, my husband and two children. So we figured a booth was a better fit us than a table. Second we had to wait 20/30 minutes for our appetizer. People that came in after us was getting their appetizer be for us. Third I requested no Mexican ranch on my chicken and the fixed it incorrectly two times. The manager came to the table the Second time and tried to tell me that it wasn't on there when we both are clearly see it on the plate. At that point I didn't want it anymore. Fourth, they messed up my bill and I didn't realize it until after I paid. I ordered the dinner for two and they charge each entrée separately appetizer was also charged separately. This was a very bad experience. I was not satisfied. The waitress was nice and friendly. It was not her fault we had an awful experience. read more

We just ordered burgers through carside to go. For $22 for two burgers, what a disappointment. Fries were stone cold, even though we ordered right outside the restaurant and waited for the food to be brought out. Burgers have gone down in size and quality and had no lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, or condiments of any type. Just burger, cheese, and meat. Very dry meat--fast food quality. No napkins or utensils in the bag, nothing. There was a hidden toothpick in the burger on which I almost impaled my palate... seriously a terrible takeout experience. This is my third bad experience in six months at this Applebees, so I am pretty sure that I am done. The only way it stays open, I suppose, is that it is visible from the interstate and catches out of town traffic. Went there last Thursday to watch football and to eat dinner. Food was good but waitress got our order wrong and was kinda reluctant to fix it. We ordered a round of the large beers which were in the standard 22oz glass. The bartender doesn't know how to pour a beer to save her life. When she brought the beers I asked her where is the missing 5 ounces that should be in there. She really had no clue. I told her when I buy a beer I want a full glass not one that is missing 5 ounces. She said she was sorry but didn't offer to take them back and have them topped off. Since she didn't offer I just said thanks and check please. We left and went next door to Santa Fe. We went in the Tuesday night to and had awesome service. I am guessing it is just the bartender and waitress we got. We where in town for a meeting. read more

Normally a great visit but last night was horrible. Of course it was after a football game but the seating and waitresses were quick, nice and attentive. Even the managers were assisting. The issue was the food. Missed ordered and cold food. The managers actually had to take three items back to the cooks. Although my order was adjusted the issue is how the cooks actually thought it was okay to send out cold food. Typical Applebee's --- nothing fancy, but can be a cheap choice for drinks and food if you go at the right time. The hotel we stay at while visiting the area is less than a mile away, so usually go here to unwind after seeing family (you know, the 'need a drink' time) The drinks are decent and if you catch the half-off app special late at night it is a perfect filler for cheap. read more

Look... I don't expect much from Applebee's, after all it's a chain restaurant that is just one step above fast food. But the food is usually good, consistent... and they are open late. Still... this location utterly fails. They close at 12am and we knew we were pushing it arriving at 11:15, but previously we arrived even later at a location near home; and they made us feel welcomed and unrushed. At this location the made last call at 11:40! WITH 35 CUSTOMERS IN THE HOUSE. Who does that? We managed to get another round ordered. The two drinks arrived with the check, no offer of dessert or even a question regarding any needs. Other high points include having to re-explain the order, none of the menu beer actually being available, filthy bathrooms, and the broom sweeping while we were trying to eat. This location needs to be bulldozed and restarted from the ground up. Then 10 minutes after close with other people still eating, they dimmed and turned up the lights... This was the worst place ever. First off, our drinks took about 30 minutes to come out and they were very watered down. Our waitress then took our order and didn't come back to check on drinks until our appetizers came out and we still, even after that, had to order our drinks from the bar and get them there. After telling the manager our server was very absent from our table, he still did nothing. When our food came out, one of the appetizers that was supposed to come out earlier was with it. Bad experience, half of our orders were wrong, asked for smothered chicken and was given a bowl of cut up pieces of chicken in one bowl and green beans in another bowl. Asked for a loaded baked potato with no sour cream, was given a half cooked potato with sour cream, another potato was brought out still half cooked, the replacement order for the "smothered chicken" was a quesadilla burger which came out after the table was done eating along with the second potato. Was asked twice for unsweetened tea and both times was brought sweet tea. Service was not good at all. The food was not good. It took forever for someone to bring the bill. Visited here for a birthday dinner and did not leave disappointed. The staff is beyond amazing, and our server Kira (sp? Kiera) made us feel extremely welcomed and made sure we were well taken care of. The food was phenomenal - a giant improvement from my past visits. This place will not be getting anymore business from me. We waited for 30 minutes to be seated although there were 8 empty tables. 4 of them stayed dirty for at least 15 minutes. Our drinks stayed empty. The food was average at best. The waitress did the bare minimum. She was obviously not happy to work here. We went there for a late lunch today. It took forever for a server to come to the table. I ordered a mojito it was actually very good. We ordered a couple of appetizers. The pork and shrimp potstickers and the Kobe meatballs. The meatballs were cold when I got them. The best part of that appetizer was the bread. I got the steak with shrimp and Italian cheese. It was so salty and the steak was overlooked. My husband got the broccoli and cheese soup. He said it was actually good. He also got the shrimp linguine. He said that the shrimp was cooked well but the pasta was overlooked. It could be a good place to go and enjoy lunch if they could work on the front of the house issues and consistency in the kitchen. read more

The service was slow. The food was even slower coming out even though the place was almost empty. When the food did come out, it was only my guest's food and not mine. After waiting a while I received only part of my order. My order came out on 3 separate plates at three different times. The server told us the cook had been messing up everybody's orders. The cook doesn't know what a caesar salad is. The entire time we were there, the staff was standing in the back goofing around. They charged me for a large entrée when I ordered a small. The food here has come a long way since I first visited in 2012, no doubt due to a change in focus. Everybody is going for "hand-crafted" these days, Applebee's included. Before when I visited you could tell that everything was pre-made. Sliced chicken on salads were dry around the edges, salads wilted etc. Our recent visit had us saying "wow!" A couple of times because the food was actually freshly made. We had the nachos which were flavorful but could have had more toppings, a burger which was delicious, and a wrap which was fresh and tasty. I hope that they keep it up! Our server was great, although there's always too much chatting/playing/arguing towards the back of the restaurant by the staff. They are loud and don't seem to get along, it's distracting. read more
