Every time I go here I'm reminded of why it's ass service. It's forever to get seated for little reason with hella seats open. The food was good and I came here with my partner around 9:30 PM and was sat down pretty quickly. Service was OK. The waitresses were nice however, when we asked for the check, we had to wait 20+ minutes just for them to pick up the payment and we had to wait another 10 minutes for my card to be given back. I was starving coming from a long work day, i grabbed a burger and it was pretty good. Then the fucking bugs and insects came along bugging us the entire night pun intended, a spider was literally drawing in the sky above the light on top of our heads. I like their food, and we don't have a lot variety here in Merced. I always end up breaking down and ordering some Applebees for a change. To start with, let's not pretend that don't know you have higher prices for you food if I don't come in the restaurant. It feels like price gouging to me. We don't like to eat out as much since COVID, so we get food to go and it seems like there is always some crap to contend with. This time, I pull up to wait for my food as the APP says curbside til 9pm. I waited an extra 15 minutes and noticed no one was coming out for any of us. I went in to get my food that had been ready for who knows how long.. and was told they don't go out to the car after dark.. like it says in the APP. It doesn't say that in the APP. They could have posted a sign outside or texted me since it was required to order food.. something. The food ended up being cold and soggy and on top of that.. the app wants you to tip them. The. This is what you get. I had to tell the other people waiting outside that the staff wasn't coming out. Prepare to be disappointed. read more

Once again, we are sadly reminded why we do not come here. The destination we had in mind had closed for the day and we were starving. What the heck, let's give Applebee's one more try. We had to ask for silverware (after the food was delivered), napkins, salt and pepper. My burger was literally crispy, crunchy. The piece of lettuce was the very bottom rib that should never been served. The cheese was not melted at all. David's ribs ($20!!!!) were dry, with little to no meat. His drink, a mild Bloody Mary, was too hot to drink. The barkeep explained it only had three shots of Tabasco. THREE???? And, it only took them three requests to have the second drink, still somewhat hot, served just as we were leaving. Good job, guys. The French fries were good, but we wont be back. Ever. read more

This place was ass! Our waitress switched with another one and the wait was even longer than what is normally expected mind you we came in like early afternoon so not a lot of customers were there. Our food was not even warm when they served it to us it looked like they microwaved it. The Alfredo was dry and the chicken was too! It's so disappointing but now I know that Applebees is more of a drinking place than an actual restaurant. I don't drink so I'm not coming to this establishment ever again. 0/10 read more

Five stars just for the server Greg! I hadn't been to Applebee's in several months at home. Thought I'd check out the one in Merced while I'm working in town. I had my favorite, the Oriental Chicken Salad. It was good, as always. Greg was very attentive and friendly. I like this place! It's like the only go to place in Merced for drinks and eats. Service tonight was awesome!!!! And the were busy af! Gave this place another chance on Christmas. I was served a strawberry margarita that tasted full of salt and was told by the server that alcohol was final sale. Of course I protested and told her that her or her manager should taste it and see if they would pay for it. The manager said he would be taking care of us the rest of the meal. We were served our plates, one had the wrong side and when we asked for the correct one it was served to us cold. The premium mac and cheese was fettuccine and penne noodles with a cream sauce and a sprinkling of cheese on top- not even enough to have a cheese shred on each noodle, no bacon as stated in the menu. 2 meals ordered were the same and one steak was smaller than the other. Had dinner here this is evening and pretty disappointed-horrble staffing! We waited way too long. They had one waiter supporting 10 tables and we waited for everything. Ordered a second drink and it arrived when my wife was already done with her dinner! Waiter obviously forgot and then ordered quickly. Doesn't make sense to have more host staff than waiters. Just overall disappointing! Stop blaming staffing and poor quality because of Covid! Won't be back, but not sure management even cares so my advice is to by the food yourself and make it at home.
