I haven't been to an Applebee's in ages....and it was pretty darn good. I got the Chicken and Shrimp with mashed potatoes. I did unfortunately scorch the roof of my mouth, but it healed quickly. The food could have used some more seasoning, and the waiter seemed overly distracted (he had to ask for our drink orders 3 times), but we had a great meal and left full. read more

There was a waitress working this afternoon on her birthday. She brought an order to a table that wasn't hers and the patron was a complete jerk to her. She talked to another person on staff about how terrible her food was ("why would you even send this out looking like this?!") Complained to her waitress THEN called the other girl back over to "explain the situation" to her. The woman was being a terrible human and I felt so bad for your staff. Your staff may have to remain courteous and professional when dealing with those people, but not me! I called her out and dogged her the entire time she was there anytime she tried to speak. Bullies dont like being called out by someone who they cant push around. She refused to even flick her eyes in my direction and I was practically in her line of sight. I apologize to that whole section for having to experience that situation, but i will not let someone behave like that and treat people poorly and not call them out on it. I even left a $20 happy birthday tip for that poor waitress. My broccoli was a bit crunchy but i didn't throw a tantrum about it. Thank you to all of your staff today and HAPPY BIRTHDAY! read more

They say you should start off with a positive so here is mine. I am positive there are more flies and gnats in this place than Sonic across the street. Travelling so we wanted someplace safe to eat since we will be in a car all day tomorrow. How can you go wrong with a chain store such as this. Well you start off with a combo appetizer that has COLD quesidillas....how hard is it to run them through some kind of heat since you have to melt the cheese anyway. Yet this cook managed to have the center cold while the edges were lukewarm. Then you roll to the Spinach Dip....seriously this is premade and frozen, did you need to scorch the top? And the chips that come with it...yep the cook messed them up to where they were on the scorch side of heated but the kicker was the burned black french fry at the very bottom of them. The cook did manage to get the formerly frozen cheese stick warmed above 32 degrees and below the surface of the sun! I did not know you could get a salad that was mostly stalk but they pulled it off! By now one would have thought we had learned but we doubled down and gave the brownie with ice cream a shot. Nice brownie but the ice cream which is usually frozen was barely colder than soup. So much chocolatey goodness we were going to take a go box for later... Which brings this full circle to those flies. Pro tip: flies LOVE brownies. Save yourself with gas station sushi in this town!!! 0/10 do not recommend. read more

When my husband and I arrived, the hostess told us it was a 25 minute wait which was perfectly fine. We sat at the bar and waited for our table and had a drink. We noticed there were a lot of empty tables and booths. After 30 minutes, we were seated at a booth that had been empty since we had gotten there. We knew exactly what we wanted and ordered salads as appetizers and our meals. I also ordered a slushee with my meal. 15 minutes later I received the slushee, which I stopped drinking as there was a hair in it. Then 10 minutes after that we received our salads. 20 minutes after that, we received our meals. We both ordered the steaks (8oz) with 2 sides. With my husband getting his medium rare with sautéed mushrooms and myself getting medium-well and sautéed onions. Our steaks were mixed up, I got his and he got mine and mine was not cooked medium well, I just didn't want to say anything as we had already been waiting an hour and 20 minutes just for our meal. We weren't checked on, we didn't get any refills on our waters. We barely saw our waitress. And we had to ask another waitress to get our check, as it took another 15 minutes and our waitress was no where to be seen. They were not that busy, as I said most of the tables and booths were empty. Do better. read more

Our group of 8 had lunch on Wednesday (5/11) at this Applebee's location. Of the 8, half we're using walkers or canes to get to our table. Our waitress, Courtney, was very accommodating and helpful figuring out seating arrangements. Because, in my opinion, Applebee's reputation hasn't been the greatest the last several years, I was reluctant when I learned it was chosen as this month's lunch venue. I ordered the Strawberry Balsamic salad and my husband chose the Prime Rib French Dip. We were both pleasantly surprised at how delicious our meals were ~ both completely clearing our plates [the others in our group enjoyed theirs as well]. Service and food were excellent! My husband and I dined here last Friday, 05/19/23. Overall, we had a very good experience. We had a kind and efficient waitress named Nancy. The food did take a while, but it arrived hot and tasted great. Is Applebee's a favorite? Not really. Is it a go-to? Also, not really. I had several bad/mediocre experiences at the one that used to be in East Peoria, so it unfortunately doesn't crack the top 15 when it comes to local chains. I have to give credit where it's due though, this is a good location if Applebee's IS a favorite of yours. read more

Poor service, tasteless food, high cost considering the quality of the food, the worst part is that no one seems to care about anything. No hope for this place unless the staff is completely gutted and they start over. Restaurants don't improve just because you go back to eat there. I met my friend here for lunch today. She had a 1/2 hour lunch break. They only had 1 cook, but maybe 5 tables. We waited an hour for our appetizer and an hour and a half for food. We had a toddler and my friend couldn't even wait. The waitress, Michaela was very sweet and attentive. She checked on us multiple times. My frustration is that we were not offered any discounts and even had to pay for my friend's soda after she left without being fed. It was our waitresses first night and the manager gave her a table of 14 with no help. She did great however we we there for almost 3 hours for a burger and fries. We had to wait for 30 minutes for bar drinks because the bartender was new with no help fro. The manager. I watched a couple walk in and wait to be seated for 30 minutes with more than 20 empty tables. Then when they did get seated they sat there for 15 minutes with no service while the manager did nothing, so they got up and left. We've had problems with this Applebee's a few times due to a poor daytime manager. She brought my wife's lunch out and the plate and food was cold. My plate was hot and my food was luke warm. We asked for a desert go go and it was served for dine in. Nobody attempted to clear the walk outside and it was covered in ice and very difficult to walk on. For some reason this manager has chosen to play old time country music not befitting of the Applebee's image. I understand now why Applebee's is having problems with declining sales. read more

Last night we ordered two for $30 and both got the penne mac and cheese with chicken tenders. It's a pretty good dish typically. However that was not the case last night. The penne noodles were either over held passed their hold time or majorly over cooked. I've worked restaurants and that was not Al dente noodle standards. We barely ate them because they were literally mush. They would fall apart in my fork. Gross. Waitress was nice but not attentive to the fact we barely ate anything and when she asked us for a box we declined. Which at that point I would have asked was there soemthing wrong? If she would have just asked us because clearly there was an issue we could have avoided a bad review if she would have just made it right at that moment. Pekin is very limited so I really hate to give this such a bad review as so many others have really ditched this in their reviews. SO, being a local....here goes. Chip had steak which was done to his specs and was very good. I always get the perfect margarita which for some strange reason is served with an olive (why I ask) but whatever. It is always perfect. I ordered off their lite menu and ordered the chicken with rice, lime and cilantro. Apparently, the cooking staff got confused between cilantro and parsley. Small town....it's all good but wld have been much better with cilantro. I can brush that off. Wait staff, is and has always been good. Attentive and alter. So to say in bold ....do not eat here is a bit harsh Jean. But maybe Jean shld learn to either cook or be catered to. I wld go back but prefer the mexican joint over Applebee's. Cheers! We didn't even have the chance to eat at this location. Worn out from a long day of swimming and fun in the sun, we opted for a big chain because it would afford for some lingering time around conversation. What happened? We were seated at a quiet table with few other patrons (4:45pm on a Friday evening) , decided what we were going to eat, and waited 15 minutes for someone to come take our order. This restaurant appears to be poorly managed and we've given the restaurant three tries in about as many years and it seems to be getting progressively worse each visit. Applebee's is nothing special and nothing to brag about but this location defines bad. Almost non-existent service, cold food and the restaurant appears to be a bit on the dirty side. The place wasn't busy and appeared to have adequate wait staff, but the girls were too busy socializing and laughing amongst themselves than to wait on their customers. Horribly dirty and terrible staff. This is the third time we've tried AppleBees in the last year, and the last time we will ever go. I felt like pulling a "Reece Bobby" in there after my last experience. (movie reference from Taladaga Nights). We walked in on a Wednesday night at 5:30 and the place was mostly empty which should of been my first tip. The waitress brought our drinks quickly and we placed our order. After about 15-20 minutes although we were the only table our waitress had, we still hadn't been asked for refills or received our food. Finally the waitress came up and asked us if we needed refills, now usually four empty glasses sitting at the edge of your table is a pretty good universal sign for "yea" but whatever. The real problem is when my wife said yes thank you were just really looking forward to getting our food and the waitress said OH yea let me go check on that for you. Long story short, they never put our order in. After a 45 min wait......The food when we got it was terrible. My son who is 11 ordered yogurt and fruit as a side which had chunks in it. The steak i ordered was fine but not even close to what i had ordered my wife's food was under cooked. I will say the manager came over and without us saying a word, took all the food off our bill. So they did make an effort to fix things. All in all the inside of this AppleBees is pretty bad. The keep it really datk so you cant see what bad shape the floor and seats and tables are in, unfortunately I have excellent eyes. It is run down and VERY dirty. There is too much competition now in Pekin and too many other choices to go here ever again. All in all i have seen this as a trend in AppleBees across the state. Not sure if they are struggling or what bit they all have gotten very run down, dingy, and their food matches the interior. Will not be going back. Should of went on up the road and ate at Perdues Tremont or the other direction to Kouri's pub. read more
