Food was okay. Nothing spectacular. Pizza had very little flavor. Main problem was the chain smoker on the mostly enclosed patio. Absolutely ruined our experience. There is a reason there is a law in place. The Smoke-Free Illinois Act is (SFIA) a state law which protects residents, workers, and visitors from the harmful effects of exposure to secondhand tobacco smoke and e-cigarette vapor by prohibiting smoking of all forms of combustible tobacco, including cigarettes, cigars, and hookah, and e-cigarettes, vapes, and any other electronic smoking device, in public places and places of employment. In addition to indoor areas, use of these products is banned outdoors within 15 feet from any entrance, exit, window that opens, or ventilation intake of a public place or place of employment. The SFIA has been protecting Illinois residents and visitors from the dangers of secondhand smoke since its enactment on January 1, 2008; e-cigarettes were added to the act beginning January 1, 2024. read more

My wife and I absolutely love Kouri's. The service is always so fast and every waiter or waitress we have had is so nice. The food is amazing as well. The cheese balls are a must, melt in your mouth. My wife always gets the steak and it never disappoints, I always try to steal a few bites. I often get the wings and they are great as well. My husband and I decided to try Khouris for supper. It took quite a while to get waited on although the restaurant was not busy. My meal came with french fries and they had obviously made ahead of time and sitting out. Ice, cold and tough and dry. I could not even eat them. The cocktail sauce that came with my shrimp dinner I thought was frozen, but the waitress explained that they make it homemade and it just solidifies on them & I needed to just stir it and it would be fine. I stuck my fork into the plastic container to stir it, and it all came out in one piece in the shape container. We were not asked if we wanted water with our meal or refills on our drinks. Such a great overall restaurant. This restaurant is really just a great place to eat. The food is amazing but has gone up a little in recent years but that's everywhere. Went in here and sun was super bright. They refused to close blinds so we had sun in our eyes all night. We will not be back here. They treat customers like crap. They refused to do anything to help the situation. Outside was worse. So we had the sun beaming off pictures into our eyes while trying to eat. You should be able to enjoy dinner without having to wear sun glasses. Plus the bathroom outside has mold on the ceiling and walls. Kouris is the hands down most popular place in town to eat and drink!! This is seriously the "Cheers" bar of this community and a must visit if you are passing through. I can't go to another bar and drink anymore because I feel like I'm getting ripped off. "Kouris drinks" are a true value and just simply taste better. You really feel like you get your money's worth on mixed drinks, which is really not much. Lots of good bar food but also has a full menu of other well ranked restaurant staples. Boneless wings are cut from breast and breaded at every order! Try the wings oven seared if you like something a little more crispy. Must try: popcorn and ranch while you wait for your food. Free, and a local favorite. Popcorn dipped in ranch? Everyone does it, Just trust me on this one!! If you think this place is overpriced then you need to get a job because you are poor. read more

When I lived in Pekin this was one of my favorite places to spend an evening. The ribs are decent but the wings are outstanding. They are big and meaty enough that you might believe they were ripped from the shoulders of some massive flying buffalo. Vastly superior to the minuscule fairey wings you would find at a place like Buffalo Wild Wings. They have a reasonable beer selection for a small town and I like to sit around the outdoor fire pit in the autum with a cold seasonal brew from Sam Adams or some such...but be warned they don't carry Blue Moon! I have had to settle for Shock Top when I am there. All told there are worse ways to spend an evening and if you are surrounded by good friends it is hard to find better. read more

Don't go for the all you can eat walleye. The absolutely worst fish I have ever had in my life. It was so mooshy to the point of gross. I was here the last time I was in Pekin and had the ribeye and I was pleasantly surprised at how it was cooked exactly the way I ordered and it was delicious. Lesson learned, don't order the special. Also, beer selection was not the same last time. There's not much of a selection for places to eat out by the hotels so I guess I'll have to venture farther away next time. read more

Went on a Sunday to celebrate my grandmother's birthday. My step-dad ordered a tenderloin plain, nothing but the meat. He took a bite and bit into something very hard, he thought he chipped a tooth! He pulls it out and realizes it is a BB! He looks at the rest of his tenderloin and finds another one! He let's the waitress know immediately. She takes it to her manager. Waitress comes back and says its a seasoning that they put in their pickles. His sandwich didn't have pickles on it!!! She goes back to manager and he apologizes says my step-dad is right. Had a party of 7 today. The sun was crazy bright outside. We asked them if they could lower the shades. There was a party also out there with 11 people all having to wear sunglasses. We also asked if they could lower the shades and they refused. Saying they would have to keep adjusting it over and over. This place has shitty customer service, and a lazy manager. We just recently moved to Pekin. I have heard good things about Kouri's and read some decent reviews on here. However, our dining experience will be our last. My initial impression after walking into the establishment was that we were going to sub par service for excellent food. Was I wrong. Service The service was terrible. After walking in the restaurant, we waited 10 minutes before we were greeted and our names were taken. After our names were taken, the wait was about 5-10 minutes longer. After we were seated, another couple was seated about 5 minutes after us. We had the same waitress. She waited on their table for drinks first. As others were seated, they were greeted with the complimentary popcorn as they were seated. We were not. Food I opted to try the rack of ribs since I have heard good things. The wife tried the Kouri's supreme pizza. I will start with the good. The pizza was excellent. It was a thin cracker like crust with an even distribution of toppings, cheese, and sauce. If you like thin crust pizza you should enjoy Kouri's pizza. However, their are much better choices in the area if you are looking for good pizza. The ribs were served with cole slaw, fries, hard roll, and a small piece of corn on the cob. I am not much of a cole slaw person, but I have had better at KFC. The corn was soft and chewy as if it had been sitting in water all day. Not a very good presentation when we are the state of corn. The ribs were tender and fell apart on the plate. However, they would have been much better with no sauce. The sauce was not good at all. It had a sour and tangy flavor that just ruined the entire meal. I could only suffer to eat a half rack. I would not even feed the leftovers to a dog. Atmosphere and Decor After some minor research, I found that Kouri's in Pekin was opened in 1994. It looks as if this place is from the late 70's or early 80's with the wood paneling on the walls. The only update they may have done was add TV's to the walls of this place. I do not know if they building was already in place or if it was a new building. So they either never updated this place or built it from scraps. Conclusion I would recommend them to contact Bar Rescue for some much needed help from John Taffer. This may not be necessary as most from this area may think there is great food and service here. Those individuals must be sheltered and never left Pekin. read more

After moving to town from St. Louis I have been looking for a place to relax and eat some familiar pub grub. Kouri's Pub exceeded my expectations. Went on a whim on a Sunday and walked into a welcoming bar and grill. Waitress and staff was prompt and friendly. Went on Sunday and got a half fried chicken with fries, slaw, and corn on the cob for only $7.99. It was wonderful!! Stopped in to the Peoria location for a couple of beers. After I sat outside for for10 minutes with no bartender and no waitress I went in to get a beer. Bartender acted annoyed that I was there. She got me a beer and I went outside. Literally 3 different waitresses came by several times and none stopped at any point in a hour and a half to see if I needed something. Menu...beer...nothing. Kouri's Pub/Restaurant is the successor to Mr. Steak that used to be housed in this building from the 1970's up into the early 1990's. You can tell the building hasn't been updated hardly at all with the dark interior and carpeting still intact most likely from the days of Mr. Steak, giving that feeling of stepping back into the groovy '70's and making a person want to swig Pabst Blue Ribbon or Old Style from a pull-tab can. I digress. Anyway, they have added on an outdoor beer garden over the years which is nice, but the food, service and even the people who frequent the joint leave much to be desired. The whole place just feels kind of dirty to me, as it's common to see food on the floors and the flooring is dirty. The food generally is nothing special for the most part and it's typically been rather bland tasting and the standard run of the mill fare you can get at most diners. It's not bad, just not anything memorable or to go home and brag about. The service most of the time is very slow at best and sometimes almost non-existent in my past visits. And if you want to belly up to the bar, most people I've found to be either obnoxious, inconsiderate of others or just plain annoying. People in Pekin praise this pub/restaurant with high regard, but it's obvious that they live in the "Pekin bubble" and don't stray far from the crappy restaurant choices (for the most part) that are offered in this town as they don't know what good food and a fine pub/restaurant can offer them. Don't get me wrong, I love to support locally owned/family businesses if they are worthy of the support but unfortunately I will never step foot in this establishment again due to too many disappointing experiences there. This "dive pub" seems to be a fairly popular local watering hole. To be safe, I ordered the Thursday night "Special"...prime rib for $16.95. What a deal, right? Easily the worst prime rib I've eaten in the past 58 years (and I'm 58). It was kind of gray and swimming in a greasy brown liquid. My son had a pizza...he gave it 2 stars out of 5. The floor was covered in crumbs and trash, almost hiding the nasty and stained carpet underneath. Overall, a filthy place with below average food. However... the 2 star rating comes into play bc the last 2 times the 5 of us went there on our lunch break we had to take our food to go. We literally waited 45 minutes and wasted our entire lunch hour. Both times this happened we were sitting in the beer garden & had the same waitress. I don't recall her name. I'm usually not a complainer so I simply just asked her to box our food & bring the check. She then started to blame other customers for her lack of service & acted annoyed that we all needed to get back to the office.
