I'll start this off with I hate going to Applebee's as I feel most people do but when you're hungry and Texas Roadhouse wait was too long that's where we ended up. We had a group of ten so we had to wait a bit which was expected. The food was average if not below as it always is The service was not up to par at all! they ran out of half their menu including the mozzarella sticks for the combo and refused to swap out for pretzels which seems like an easy switch. The combo comes with 4 choices and the choose your own only comes with three. Plus it's cheaper. When the manager came over when asked she was rude about it and lacked customer service she suggested we buy another buy the pretzels separate even though THEY ran out. She also said "we ran out since businesses was so good" to me Im hearing that they could have comped the pretzels or just allow us to switch as requested. As the manager if that's the expectation the servers can't be much better. Our server was nice she just seemed overwhelmed dealing with our big table plus other tables so she wasn't on top of it like she may have been in a slower day so I'm giving her the benefit of the doubt When it came time to pay my pap couldn't get the discounted price because I'm younger than the required age but the person That's PAYINB is the correct age so for them to be sticklers like that is really ridiculous. That's more of a company issue but honestly I've been to chain restaurants where they will just give a small discount to appease the customer. That's the point of customer service. read more

We've always been pleased with our visits to Applebee's, but not this time. The food was okay, but the service was definitely lacking. Upon arrival, I told the hostess that we needed either a table or a half-and-half because I can't sit in booths. So, what does she do? She seats us at a booth then walks off (smh). Luckily, someone else nearby seated us at the table across from the booth. We then got a mini-menu, not the full one. We had to ask for the full menu because we knew before going what we wanted to order (our usuals), and none of them were on the mini-menu. After ordering, we waited for our meals. And waited. And waited. After waiting for over half and hour. The booth we were initially seated at and later occupied by a couple already had their food. I finally flagged our server (who never came to our table once since taking our order) and asked why our order was taking so long. She said she'd go see if there was an issue with the order. Uh, we shouldn't have had to ask her to do that! When we finally got our food, I had to ask for silverware so we could eat it (smh). We shouldn't have to ask! My granddaughter had to ask for steak sauce, and her medium-well steak was medium, not medium well. All in all, it was a most disappointing meal that was supposed to have been a celebration of my two grandchildren's birthdays. read more

Love our neighborhood bar and grill! I feel like we always have a great experience at Applebee's. We were sat right away, greeted and placed our drinks in such a timely manner. The server was super sweet and attentive. We shared the sampler and tried the new grilled cheese burger! I recommend trying it at least once because it was a hot comfort meal on a cold winter night. The burger was burnt, little meat, The tomato was larger. The onion rings the breading was horrible and wonton tacos were thrown in a bowl very messy. I ordered a 12 Ounce Rib Steak with Garlic Potatoes & a side of Boneless Wings. Wings were fine, but the potatoes had a hard crust on top. Like cement! My ri Steak was suppose to be Medium Rare. It was RARE, and should of been back in the field. It had a bone in it and didn't even look like a rib steak. I asked to talk to a manager TWICE but the waitress just ignored it I guess. NO taste at all. I just came from the airport and was starving so I ate the steak pretty much raw. I ate it and I paid for it. But for the first time in my long life i didd not leave a tip. We came in for dessert after a tour of the hospital. I ended up getting loaded cheese fries which were really good. Cake was great also. Our server Chey was so sweet. Super friendly and did a great job. We will be back! We live on the other side of Monroeville so we are not here often ... but good to know the service is so great here. Our grandma snapped at her and she kept a smile the whole time and was extremely forgiving when we apologized for her or needed extra napkins because of a spill. There was a lot of people and not a lot of waitresses, but they did extremely well given there was only 3 of them. If you don't go for the food, go for the staff and ambience. read more

A consistent chain with a menu that leaves me with many options that takes me a moment or two to decide. There are so many that are colorful with veggies and so many that seem healthy. This pleases me very much. It was lunchtime and they have specials in which you can choose 2 from different categories for prices by category. My husband chose that option and had 1/2 a grilled club sandwich and a chicken Caesar salad and I had the crispy chicken salad. We were both satisfied with our choices and finished every bite. Came here for something cheap and fast to eat last night. My friends and I decided to try their $1 strawberry margarita's. It was incredibly sweet, tasted more like puree than anything else with no alcohol taste. But hey, it's a dollar, I can't expect much. We did a few of those, but after feeling literally no effects, I decided to stop drinking so I didn't get a sugar headache later in the night. We ordered the $13 app combo. We did two orders of that for the table. The sizes were really good for two people to share, so we had more than enough food with three of us. We ordered the spinach dip, the white queso and chips (not enough queso in the dish, especially compared to the spin dip), pretzels, buffalo boneless wings, mozeralla sticks and quesdillas. Nothing was outstanding in taste, but nothing was bad. It was.. exactly as we had expected. Can't complain! Service was a little slow for a Sunday night with barely anyone in, but our server was nice. Just seemed busy with closing work. Probably would not do that app combo again.. later that night my stomach was killing me from all of the greasy food. I think next time I'll try to include some greens in my meal and maybe quit the $1 fruity drinks, since they're essentially just puree and water. read more

How hard is it to get an order right? Is it possible to get a food order served on a plate commensurate in size to the food being plated? Placed an online order, was given wrong order & did not realize until already home (I know, I should've checked bag before leaving) called & asked for it to be replaced & was told 15 minutes (the order was just 1 meal) arrived back at the restaurant within 15 minutes & waited another 10 minutes. Applebee's is the first restaurant that I have visited since the green phase . I was hoping for a reassuring experience that left me feeling confident returning to eating out. Many of the waiters and waitresses wore their masks below their mouths around their chins. They might as well not have worn them. Managers should in force the serious health measure. I don't know when I will feel safe going back???? As for the food, my Bourbon chicken and shrimp was seasoned with way too much garlic. My husband liked his ribs. More like 2.5 stars. Not the best Applebees I've been to but not the worst either. They seem to have some strange policies in place. If you order car side to go after 8:00 they make you go into the restaurant. They also won't seat until your entire party is there even if your entire party is two people and the restaurant is fairly empty. The servers were fairly unprofessional. At one point our server shouted over our table to the bar tender about something. I suppose that sort of thing happens when the oldest employee that evening appered to be under 30 years old. Not that people who are young can't be professional, but this crew certainly was not. Service was also fairly slow. Often I had to ask more then once for either more water or a side of sauce. Food is typical of any Applebees. As long as you go expecting chain restaurant food, you won't be disappointed. The best deals are to go after 9 and get half off of a nice selection of appetizers. read more

I stopped by here just to get a Caesar salad and meet my sister for some drinks. It wasn't busy tonight so I was happy that I wouldn't have to wait or squeeze through the large crowds. By the time I got to the restaurant my sister had already ordered her meal. She got the shrimp and rice dish which I thought was very bland. The rice was cooked pretty well and the shrimp too but it just tasted like tomatoes nothing special. I ordered a Cesar side salad and my hubby got the Blondie dessert dish. Both were pretty good I finished all my salad and I had a small bite of his Blondie which taste like a vanilla brownie. It wasn't 9 o'clock yet so I didn't get a chance to take advantage of the discount appetizers and drinks specials but I still managed to order me a long island. It wasn't that strong which is what I prefer but it tasted a lot like lemonade as opposed to ice tea. I do like how they updated the place and I don't really have any bad things to say about it but it is just a typical run-of-the-mill chain restaurant. most of the food sometimes does taste like it came from a microwave package. Not a big fan of big chains. But sometimes you gotta go with the flow. This Applebee's, in Penn Center, is crazy wicked busy for lunch during the week. And they are great at moving people through to get as much of our lunch money as possible. So that means service is great. I've only ever gotten salads here and they have always been flavorful and as presented in their commercials and menu. The fact that they openly support the men and women in the military is a plus for me and makes me want to support this chain a little more. Oh yes, and they also support the America's 911 MC ride. Next day after extensive searching for a contact for the Monroeville, PA location, I sent an e-mail describing my excellent beer, pretty good service, mediocre meal not finished and the terrible salad packaged to-go. There was no sarcasm at that time, just an honest description of the food and service. The manager's response was that I should ask for him or another manager when I returned. No refund offered. No " come in for a free meal to offset two awful meals previously paid for." I would not return for a $100.00 gift card. The experience and response fits Applebee's. Neither are worth consideration. Maybe that is why the restaurant was nearly empty when I visited. Save your money. Get "fast food" instead. That would be better! read more

I recently returned to have a lite dinner with my friend after a year plus hiatus, well let me say I should have returned sooner! The new menu is well worth any amount of waiting time. I've since returned (apx 4 days later) for lunch, and was also pleasantly surprised. The new menu provides diverse options from grilled salmon, shrimp Thai salad, to lamb and and more. They have a regular crew of servers . if you frequent here enough , you recognize them and they recognize you. They never have a problem anytime i make a special request. When this location is good , its the best. If you catch them on an off night , its a nightmare. Never seem to get my steak cooked right but my foances ribs/shrimp are always good. We used a gift card we got for Christmas on the Shrimp Stir Fry and the Quesadilla Burger. From start to finish it was a disaster. We ordered online and it said it would be an hour. A little long in our minds, but not too bad. We got there at the hour mark and all the Carside To Go spots were filled with people parking for dine in. I had to go in and get the food (while waiting in line for twenty minutes). We got the food home and the burger was terrible. It was literally a burger patty pasted between two oversized tortillas with no lettuce or tomatoes and the wrong cheese. The only thing that wasn't terrible was the Stir Fry (average).
