Came here for lunch with a small group of 5. We were seated right away. Our server was very friendly. A couple of the guys asked if they offered military discounts and they do. I don't remember what everyone ordered so I'll review my order of Bourbon chicken and shrimp. I opted to swap the mashed potatoes for waffle fries. The chicken portion was small and shrimp was tiny. The waffle fries were good. A couple of the guys ordered the chicken tortilla and said it was delicious. I had the new Grilled cheese cheeseburger. It was very tasty and juicy! We had the boneless wings for an appetizer and they were really good as well. My daughter had a salad with grilled chicken. We both needed to go boxes! The waitstaff were pretty attentive. She did forget my chips and salsa that came with my drink. I reminded her but the item ended up coming at the same time as my meal. I have had friendly waitresses and waiters at Applebee's, though they are too busy at times to attend to their tables. Let's talk about the chicken wings. If you've had really good bone in wings someplace else, you will notice immediately that APB's does not make good wings. They are always overcooked, as are the boneless wings, like dried out little pieces of meat in a thick wrap of over fried "crust." They've gotten worse and worse over the past 4 years, though I've been going there over 10 years in Rice Lake, and many more years in another state, where the food was much, much better over 15 years ago. Side note: the current buffalo sauce is horrible. What happened? If you want a good hamburger, they do make one! Even the kid's burger is good. Several appetizer items are very good (not the wings). My friend loves their French Onion soup, but they don't provide crackers. He has to bring his own. (That is ridiculous to not supply crackers with soup.) They used to have great salads, but somebody changed their salad dressings and I don't like them. The mashed potatoes are acceptable and so is the broccoli. They seem to get rid of great items on the menu and digress to not so great and even awful stuff. It's an ever decreasing, small window. Overall, the food is mediocre quality. I have given this Applebee's more chances than it deserves, and it always disappoints. It's gotten to the point where I will never step foot in here again. I've had water spilled on me, bugs in my food, lukewarm food (pretty much every time), and poor service. Now the water thing: I get accidents happened, but the waitress never came back to assist with clean up. THAT'S what bugged me. I have also seen drug deals occurring between staff and the kitchen. Whatever you do is totally your prerogative, but don't let customers see. Seriously. Overpriced for the food you get, and it's not worth even half of what you pay. This restaurant very recently handled an incident very, very badly. So badly, it got news coverage. A server there was harassed on multiple occasions because he's gay. The first time, a few weeks ago, he was reportedly harassed by customers at a table he was serving. He followed corporate policy and asked the table be reassigned to another server until those diners were finished. Subsequently, he was written up for this incident. I don't know too many restaurants that write up their own staff when the customer harasses them for being Jewish, black, or disabled. He shouldn't have been written up either. So don't eat here if you're not happy with restaurants firing gay people for GETTING harassed. If that's not enough for you, a co-worker of his recently (while both were off-duty) was an accessory to her husband's violently anti-gay assault of this same server. She drove her husband to the scene following a gathering where this gay server was treated badly and left. She then watched as her husband shouted anti-gay slurs and threats as he walloped the gay server with a 2x4. Witnesses reported no provocations on the part of the victim, not that that's an excuse to crack someone's face open. Multiple fractures and lacerations resulted. Multiple witnesses place both the co-worker and her husband at the scene of the crime. This woman still works for Rice Lake Applebee's. So don't eat here if you think a restaurant shouldn't retain employees who contribute to a violent assault. If that's still not enough for you, the gay server in question was reportedly asked to leave employment with the restaurant because of the "bad publicity" generated by the attack. So if you think blaming and punishing the victims of violent assaults is not appropriate, don't eat here. If you STILL want to eat at Rice Lake Applebee's after all of this, I have no idea why. The food is either passable or complete shit...just like the service. On a bad visit, I could have a more enjoyable meal gnawing on the bushes outside the building than eating what comes out on the greasy plates. Unless you order something that comes out on a skillet, your food will be lukewarm. You know what a farm smells like? Animal poop and dirt? That is the only way I can describe the taste of the tomato basil soup. Yes. The taste. Concentrated animal farm. The decor used to be awesome with random pictures and stuff on the walls, now it has been replaced with pictures of local places and high school sports action shots. I have said this a hundred times.... Applebee's will never win a Michelin star, but that does not take away the fact that they serve good food at a decent price. Applebee's is casual dining and the best place for the businessman to sit is at the bar. Sirlion steak is outstanding (and if you read my revies, realize that is the only thing I order here). Paired with mashed potatoes and broccoli and numerous Jack Daniels and you hit all the major food groups that really matter Service at this location is beyond reproach! Everyone here is above average! The true standouts are Jessica behind the bar and Bailey for a server tableside! Be sure to get one of them to make the best of your night at Applebee's. I have eaten at more than 50 Applebee's in this country and this is one of the absolute best (even considering all of the snow piled up outside that this Southerner really doesn't appreciate) Plenty of warmth dealt inside regardless of the weather. Highly recommend this location to anyone travelling through Rice Lake :) read more

sDuring this pandemic Applebee's is one of my go to curb side pickup places. I order on line and the food , neatly packaged is brought out to my car by a server wearing a mask and gloves. No extra charge. Applebee's food is always delicious and portions are large. I prefer dining in (which is open) but for now feeling safer eating at home or in my car. Please remember to tip the server who brings out your food. It is always appreciated especially during this time when dine in ppl are fewer. read more

Applebee's is usually my go to restaurant, however the last few times I've ordered my steak is wrong, my soup is awful(which sucks cause the soup is the main reason I go there). I ordered yesterday and my spinach dip was burnt, no bread in my French onion soup, some weird slices of cheese just floating around and was never melted and I could hardly cut my steak, my salsa was half full. I'm not one to complain but seeing as this is now the third time with the same problems I feel it should be said. I will however say that the guest service is always good when I go there! Not giving any stars, the one in Rice Lake WI is absolutely horrible. the last three times we have been there we had the two same waitress and waiter. The waitress was nice but kept on not putting stuff in so we would never get our breadsticks and Alfredo sauce and the one time we did we got it after our food and she only put it in as breadsticks...no sauce and the other time she just never gave it to us. when we would order she would tell us that they don't have what we wanted ( it's just normal menu items) until we showed her on the menu. But when we had the male waiter he was a turtle. Legit. A turtle. It was ridiculous. we waited 20 min to even get our drink ordered, and mind you it was not that busy in there. and the rest of the night it took forever. Our whole eating time with only 3 of us took 3 hours and he was not friendly at all. And the others were aware of how slow he was because he wouldnt be the one to bring our food out others would and he would just stand behind the bar with a blank stare. The worst part i think, was the hostess. When we walked in she is mumbling under her breath about servers not doing there job( extremely unprofessional) and she wouldn't greet us. Then she would act like she was having the worst day of her life every time we would go in, like I understand people go through hard times but she chose a job that involves directly talking to and happily greeting customers. When she would finally acknowledge that we were sitting in the waiting area she would grab menus as say " over here" lead us to sit and then proceeded to say " a waiter will get to you, at some point, if they feel like doing there job today" in an extremely irritated and rude manor along with huff and puff while still mumbling under her breath. That made us not even want to be there anymore. And the whole night she just kept moping around the restaurant while there and large dirty tables and making people feel extremely uncomfortable. I will not go there again, we kept going back because we are typically pretty understanding people but now it it is happened this many times it is unacceptable. 0/10 will not go there again. read more

To start things off my partner and I waited for our chips and dip after we just seen another couple recieve theirs when they came in about 15-20 minutes after us. It was also hard to get a drink. Later I found a hair in my food. To be honest I'm not too troubled about the hair because it cant kill you, but I was still upset. The waitress never stopped and asked how our food was which was puzzling. I was bewildered by the faculties performance. To top everything off they royally screwed up the bill which we later settled. And I just sat there and waited more. Once I did get some help, I ordered the meal at the same time - this frustrated the waiter. She seemed in a hurry. But I didn't know when she would be ack. I made the great mistake of choosing Applebee's in Rice Lake for lunch on 8/22/13. I have NEVER, EVER been served such horrible, disgusting "food," if it could be called that. The clubhouse was downright horrid. Saturated with grease, soggy as though it had been sitting around for a couple of hours. Should be called the "outhouse sandwich" instead of "clubhouse." A taco-style salad was equally as disgusting. Stale taco chips, badly wilted -- nearly rotten -- greens. On top of that, it took the idiots nearly 45 minutes to produce this garbage. I took my family to dinner at this Applebee's on Saturday, April 28th around 4 pm. The hostess seated us within a few minutes. We sat and waited for someone to come take our order. Had two young children with us who were hungry and very antsy. As we sat and waited for more than 20 minutes for someone to come to our table we watched other tables get seated and waitresses promptly taking their drink orders. The hostess was helping clean the booth directly behind us and I tried to get her attend by loudly saying "Ma'am, excuse me?", louder and louder at least 4 times. She was less than 3 feet from me and ignored me completely. At that point it had been almost 30 minutes and we got up and left, still no service. A girl at the door smiled and said "Thank you please come again". I turned to her and said "Thank you for WHAT? We never got any service. We will NEVER be back." We went to Culvers down the road. This is not the first time we have experiences horrible service at this restaurant and the food the other times was mediocre at best. Will never recommend this place to anyone. read more
