On 6/13 around lunch time me and my girlfriend went to this Applebees. Now I get it, it's a chain restaurant so you're not expecting 5 star service and by no means would I go with that expectation. We ordered pickle fries and the all you can eat shrimp, boneless wings, and riblets. The server didn't bring the drink over until we got our food after like 20 minutes and she brought the pickles which were supposed to be an appetizer out with the food. The pickles were burnt and clumped together. When we told the server she said " I didn't even want to bring them out because they looked so bad but the cooks said if you say anything they'll make another order" honestly I was kinda floored you'd even say that. Anyone in food service knows the golden rule is you don't serve what you wouldn't eat. The manager did come over but it felt more like she was trying to justify it rather than take accountability but it was comped. The time in between each order was twice the amount of time it should've been and it wasn't busy but it was clear they were struggling overall I probably won't come back especially with the abundance of options in this area. read more

This Applebee's felt like a local neighborhood place to meet up. My coworker and I sat at the bar, and people from the neighborhood would come and go all night, socializing with their friends, grabbing dinner and getting some drinks. The bartender was beyond nice and how can you hate the margaritas and food from Applebee's? We were a really big party. Isiah was an amazing server and very attentive. I was very blessed. My food was very flavorful and I chose to add shrimp. I ordered the southwest chicken bowl. Why is the manager hanging out in the bathroom and my card plus change needs to visit a place where you $h!t. I don't understand the negative reviews, I was just there a few minutes ago and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The beer was ice cold, the ribeye was cooked perfectly, and the staff behind the bar was friendly and attentive without being a pain in the ass. We dined at the Vestal, NY location last night 4/08/21. A few issues that should be pointed out. First, older people cannot read the small print when using the APP that is the table for the menu on their phones. If their phones can even scan it...which many cannot. Second, the little table device does not contain the entire menu..making it useless. Instead of being directed to use the APP, customers need to be provided a hard copy menu. This would have saved our order time by 15 minutes. We had to request the menu. The second issue is when we were done eating, we used the table device to alert the server we needed assistance (we needed take home boxes)...we waited 10 minutes, yet no one arrived. We then thought maybe if we paid by using the table device, it would alert a staff member to check on us. We completed the transaction...but again 5 minutes went by and one came. We then again tried alerting a staff member by using the table device...and waited another 5 minutes..yet again no one came. We finally called the restaurant from our phone and got the hostess...we told her where we were sitting and that we have been sitting here for at least 15 minutes waiting for anyone to check on us...she immediately came up with boxes for us (Hats off to that young lady...great customer service). The food was fantastic, but the table APP is horrible as is the table device. Please provide a real menu to those who need it. Please make sure to check on customers...we appreciate good service and our tips will reflect it. read more

Would have loved to enjoy my lukewarm food, but the flies landing on it kind of ruined my appetite. The buffalo wings had no sauce and a mysterious french fry looking object on top of them. The potatoes were also cold, with a bunch of unmelted shredded cheese on top. There was also a black hair in my pasta. Keeping it classy, applebees! Edit: thanks Danielle, but I already spoke to the manager and he was extremely rude and dismissive about the situation. I'd rather not speak to him again. I travel allot and my normal "go-to" place is Applebee's because it's consistent! I can truly see why the store got 2stars! The service was "fine." Not excellent but okay. I started with a Blue Moon, which wasn't to temp and tasted old. I then had a perfect margarita after not finishing the beer. The margarita was so sweet I had to ask for extra ice, their cocktails aren't balanced. I ordered salmon and my 2 sides were broccoli and green beans, they were great. The salmon however was so over cooked. It's obvious the cook doesn't know any better than to cook salmon WELL WELL done. The bartender never asked how my meal was which leads me to believe she is use to it. Sadly, I am not a high maintenance customer and really do not expect too much. I never complained because I feel as if this is their normal level of service & they think they are doing a good job...even with only a couple stars! read more

First of all, one of only few restaurants that are open late in Binghamton. Servicing absolutely perfect. Even though they ran out of my favorite chipotle sauce but I was happy with the experience. Worst applebees I've ever EVER been to. We came in at 10pm after driving an hour to Binghamton and needed a late night dinner (should've done Fridays but whatever) Applebees in Ithaca is great so we decided to go to the Vestal one. We were seated outside the bar area and after asking about the half price apps was told we needed to sit in the bar area. We didn't feel like moving as we already had our drinks and had settled in so that was fine. The drinks arrived 20 minutes after we were sat down. We ordered our food and our waitress disappeared for a half an hour. A bunch of SUNY B guys walked in and were sat by our waitress who started talking to them. I listened in and they too asked about the half price apps and she said to them that she normally needs to sit them in the bar area for that but that she'll let them go ahead and order them! If I hadn't ordered I would've walked right the heck out of there, I was pissed. She turned and I asked for a refill on my water and she said just a moment she had to get their drinks... She brought them their drinks, ordered their food and started walking away... 10 minutes later after that table had all their food ordered and their drinks at their table (40-45 minutes after we came in) we finally had our food to our table. She then took our drinks to refill them. She never returned. She brought the other guys their apps and their food and sat their and talked to them for a good 10 minutes. I lost my appetite and only ended up eating 2-3 bites of my honey pepper chicken tenders. My wife was even furious. When we were brought our check she said "oh yeah you needed a refill! What did you have to drink?" we only had water but I told her to forget it. We paid, left no tip and left without our leftovers because I just didn't want them. I was so tempted to speak to a manager or call the next day and I NEVER do that. I never did, I just am never coming back here. When my wife and her friends were hanging out the night before our wedding and they went to Fridays, the night after our wedding we went out with friends to Fridays because their service is phenomenal. Idk what our waitresses deal was but lady, you don't deserve to be in this business and you just lost a few customers because none of my friends and family are coming back here after we told them what happened. read more

We got lucky and timed our visit with a promo for a $10.00 discount if I ordered more than $30.00 of takeout. We easily do this, so I ordered w/o a problem on line and picked my order up within 20 minutes on a week night. Very convenient. We liked the crispy Chicken Wonton Tacos appetizer, and the Shrimp Wonton Stir-Fry. We also ordered the Bourbon Steak and we splurged on a shrimp with Parmesan add on. The Bourbon Steak was served rare as ordered but it was tasteless. Nice portion size, however, and the shrimp were great! I marked my rating down because Mr. Applebee apparently decided to discontinued the Southwest Steak and Black Bean Soup without consulting me! This is (was) my all time favorite soup in the entire world (or at least the Vestal New York side of it!). So, calling all home cooks, please send me your recipes for versions of this former Applebee Soup. I will post back with the winning recipe and award the winner an all expenses paid round trip ticket to beautiful Vestal, New York and the stunning campus of Binghamton University. If Applebee's will continue to offer ten dollar coupons, I will continue to patronize. I rate their take-out program as 4 stars but I will miss their great Steak Soup. A spur of the moment decision to eat here turned out to be a pretty good idea. We went in on a Saturday afternoon at around 1pm and the restaurant was very busy. Despite this we were seated quickly in one of those booths (must avoid all contact with fellow diners) and our drinks were ordered and delivered shortly thereafter. Our waiter had taken a shine to an elderly couple nearby and despite our best efforts to get his attention he was deep in conversation. Eventually our food was ordered and compared to other tables within sight it arrived quite slowly, actually being delivered by a different server. The food itself was really good, well above par for this type of restaurant - TGI Friday, Texas Roadhouse, Outback, Ruby Tuesday etc - and very reasonably priced. In summary, yes, I would dine here again and hopefully our server would be a little less distracted. Edit: We went again today for lunch and tried ordering via the tablet on each table. Don't bother, nothing will arrive. In the words of our server; "That doesn't send the order anywhere so don't use it" Helpful. read more

The service was slow. Got 2 for $20 w/ my dad asked for ranch not blue cheese w/ boneless wings, came out w/ the blue cheese, asked a second time for ranch, and again It came out with blue cheese. Cups were empty for a few minutes. Biggest problem was they still can't cook steak both steaks ordered medium both came out well. Really like this applebees. I've been coming a few times when I can get the chance because it's relatively cheap in prices which is awesome for a college student like me. I usually come after 10 which is when the half off apps are. You gotta order a drink (could be any kind) in order to get the deal which is in my opinion such a steal. I usually get the classic boneless buffalo wings and the brew pub pretzels. A great mix of spicy and calm in ur pallete. I would definitely recommend to anybody in the area trying to get a bang for your buck and to spend a nice meal w some friends or a closer friend! read more

I went here with my family and service started out great, I ordered bourbon steak and it came with a shrimp in my potatoes and I am allergic. Manager replaced my meal but the quality was not as good because it was rushed to come out and they offered no discount for serving me shrimp in a meal that doesn't have shrimp especially when I am allergic. Went a few years ago and have not been back since. The first meal I got, tasted like pure salt. It got switched out for steak, totally different than the first. Still like straight salt. Man this was just depressing. First off I'm 22 years old, and the waitress comes up and asks my friend what she wanted to drink and she got a margarita and then turns to me and says "and what would you like to drink buddy?" In a tone suggesting I was a child. So I was immediately irritated and didn't feel like drinking anything alcoholic although felt compelled to, however I just ordered a tea. Then when I ordered my actual meal I decided on a 4 oz. serloin paired with a half rack of ribs. I knew the steak would be small but it was literally half fat and two bites of steak and it was done well instead of medium rare and bloody the way I like it, and the ribs had more fat than I've ever seen on them. But I understand, they can't control how an animal grows, I'm just disappointed that both of my cuts of meat were equally disappointing. My friends steak also came out on a sizzling skillet that was literally still cooking her steak, even past well to almost burnt when she asked for medium rare like I had. And she is very optimistic so all she had to say was "hmm, I wonder when these potatoes were fresh.. they have that wrinkled, frozen but then cooked and left under a heat lamp too long look, but they have a great flavor!" So I know she was disappointed too she just didn't want to make a fuss about it, so I didn't. And she insisted I leave a 20% tip because there was nothing wrong with the service we just had conflicting personalitys... yes I suppose it wasn't her fault and she was quick and officient so she deserved at least the average 15% it's just her initial comment to me put me in a slightly annoyed mood for the rest of my meal. I'm usually very mild tempered but I was really looking forward to a good meal, and because I couldn't ask for a refund or replacement meal I figured leaving a bad review so everyone else knows not to go here is the next best thing. Don't eat here, oh also the drink was tiny and messy and the half sugared rim was dripping all down the side, not worth it whatsoever. I'm also not cheap, I have more than enough money for a good meal and I should've known better then to eat at an Applebee's. I don't expect 5 star quality from a diner, but I expect a meal advertised as one thing to be brought out as such. read more

I enjoy dining at Applebee's in Vestal on occasion. Recently, I tried a new menu item -- Napa Chicken and Portabellos. Ha! There was not even one small slice of portabello mushroom on my plate ... only a smattering of regular mushrooms. Do your chefs know there is a BIG difference between the two? Two others in my party ordered the same dinner --- they found only a small slice or two of the portabellos. If you don't plan to put portabellos on the plate, take "Portabello" out of the entree name! In the restaurant business, there is something to be said for truth in advertising. By the way, the service was sub-par; and when I asked the waitress where the portabello mushrooms were, she said, "They're in there'. Yeah, right! read more

Horrible horrible horrible restaurant!!! We went to the one in Vestal, NY this evening for dinner and we will DEFINITELY NEVER go back! First off, we ordered the spinach dip as an appetizer and 2 burgers for dinner. Our server brought us our drink and then we never saw him again. We waited over a half our for our starter. It's only chips after all, it shouldn't have taken that long. Of course our server was MIA and someone else brought it to us. Plus, i could tell that it had been sitting under a heat lamp for awhile before it was brought to us b/c everything had a layer of film over it. Another 20-25mins or so went by and we heard another server tell a table nearby that our server went to break. No one ever told us that someone would be taking over, not even the server that was replacing him. Thankfully, we got the attention of the manager and voiced our many complaints. Our burgers finally came out, delivered by the manager, and about an hour after we arrived, we got to eat our dinner. Keep in mind, it's a Wednesday and not very busy. When we were finally finished, it took awhile for someone to come to our table to get our plates and then out of nowhere, our original server stopped by with our check. Such a horrible experience. We shouldn't of needed to be there 1 1/2hrs!! I used to waitress and this is totally unacceptable! And not 5 minutes after we left, i felt sick.
