Recently tried this place out for the first time, and I can't believe I had not gone before. We tried the chips and salsa Verde, and their hotdogs with fries on the side. Everything was delicious. I love their salsa, but warning it is a bit spicy, which I personally love. The hotdog was also delicious and so were the fries. I enjoyed this place so much and ended up going again. This time we tried their tacos de Asada, and their Hawaiian torta with a side of fries. I thought the tacos were OK and a bit overpriced. The salsa that came with them was also OK. Their fries were delicious again, the torta was good. Overall, I really enjoyed this place, specially for their hotdogs which are decently priced. They have a lot to choose from and a lot more for me to try. There is some parking on the side and the back. It is also a gas station/convenience store so there's plenty to choose from. This place satisfies my craving for a burrito after a two hour session at the gym and they are GIGANTIC! and basically a FULL meal by themselves. I ordered one for myself and two for my friends. I got them hooked and they come here now. You come up and order at the cashier. And after that there is rarely a waiting game (at least from my personal experience) my order was ready in about 15-20 minutes...BOOM WRAP SPEED! Their ingredients balance is great too, towards the bottom of the burrito they packed on a generous amount of rice, plus I didn't find any sour cream which I love, because I don't like that on my burrito. I've tried a lot of items on their menu, make sure to order their hot sauce while you are add it...SO GOOD. Is this place worth it you ask? YES is it the best burrito? NO. I'm not sure what has happened to this place. Used to come here for the best tacos/burritos/beer. The last three times I've gone I haven't been able to finish the meal (which is unheard of for me...). The sopes were stale, the beans seems to have been a week old, and the meat was burnt and probably reheated. They've gotten my order wrong a couple of times and have had a stomach ache from the food. This was scrumptious. I was starving when I came inside and left so so full. I don't think I'm someone that can eat a lot (I know sad), but I inhaled this burrito in like 10 minutes. It was very yum. I've never had a bad experience with customer service here! I give it 4 stars because sometimes they mess my order up. But it's nothing major! Good food, kind staff, and a great selection of beer. They offer the basic Mexican food you'd expect from a food truck. Tacos, burritos, tortas, tostadas. But they also do a Mexican style hot dog, which is fantastic. The restaurant has the feeling of if a cantina and a roadside diner had a baby. They really do the best they can with what looks like an old gas station store that's been turned into a restaurant. If you get the food to-go, it holds up quite well. Only fresh ingredients here with delicious sauces and salsas to compliment the delicious flavors. We had the four street taco special and tried the Pastor, Chorizo, Chile Verde and Grilled Chicken styles served with a side of fresh chunky salsa. Service was fantastic and everyone we interacted with was super friendly. We were expecting to spend a lot more and were surprised at how affordable this lunch ended up. Love coming here with a group of friends to enjoy some drinks on draft or their amazing selection in the refrigerators. We come almost once a week as some of us are not local to the area but since the new year they've been embracing a slower pace by closing bathrooms early (and inconveniently) by 8pm... I thought they closed by 9pm! The night crew seems very eager to go home. For a gas station and watering hole to not have usable bathrooms during operating hours is a real bummer and makes our group cut out after 1 drink since we cannot comfortably hang with the lack of basic amenities. read more

Came by last weekend and placed a giant to-go order for the family while we we vacationing in the area. Super happy we came! + kids loved their grilled chicken quesadilla and bean burrito. Hefty portions + fish taco and fish burritos had a generous amount of fried fish. Burritos were giant + my dad enjoyed his alambre torta + we ordered most of their soups: menudo, carne en su jugo, posole. The menudo had a really generous amount of tripe, no hominy. Posole was ok. Our absolute favorite was the carne en su jugo. It was thicker, more like a stew, with a tangy tomatillo base which complimented the smoky bacon in it. Would love to order this again. We asked for flour tortillas on the side and the flour tortillas here are really good - fresh, great pliant toothsome chew. + the housemade salsas are GREAT. The spiciest one is a peanut one, and maybe it happened to be an extreme batch, but that one did NOT play. It was SPICY. We are a family that eats super spicy and that salsa kicked our asses. Granted we did buy a large container to go and we were using quite a bit of it, but it is STRONG. It's inside a gas station and they have a cool deal of a free bean burrito with $20 gas purchase. It's a gas station/market/beer bar/ Mexican food....it was so good and not expensive for what they serve...we got the 4 tacos for $7 deal. 4 chorizo tacos, he said they were really, really good. I got 2 Al Pastor, 1 chicken and one Chile verde...the Chile verde was the best I have ever had. Al Pastor good as well. I would skip the grilled chicken tacos though. Hard to chew. Then I bought a bunch of goodies at the little store inside...to take home. The nice young man mentioned that they have a chile verde soup! I will be getting that next time. I popped in today to grab lunch before I started my shift at work. No other taco place has anything on them. This is a small hole in the wall that you'll miss if you aren't looking because it's located inside a convenience store/gas station. I have been coming here for a year now. The decor in this place is awesome! I dig the vibe A LOT . It's a very popular spot because every time I go they are always busy. The employees here are friendly, charismatic and fast! I always order their fish or shrimp tacos - I recommend them, they are loaded and all around delicious. My all-time favorite here. I love this place, anytime I'm in the area I stop in for taco's and a beer or two. They have a taco plate special that is 4 street tacos for $6! The taco's are small but it's a good sized tasty meal for not a lot of money. It's the perfect pair with a nice cold beer. They have a really diverse selection of draught beers and prices vary running towards the high end... You are sure to find a beer you like but they also have a full selection of drinks liquor store style. Although the taco's are cheap, a basket of chips will cost you almost $3? Thats a big WTF, whatever, skip the chips. Salsa's are free but watch out, they are HOT! The peanut salsa had sweat pouring out of me but it was addicting. I think the HOT salsas are a ploy to keep you chugging more cold beer! This place is also a gas station, I think it's time for a bean joke right? Haha, but seriously, this place rocks! Got the chicken enchiladas and the four street taco plate. The chicken in the enchiladas was unseasoned and had the texture as if it was 20mins over cooked. Sauce was ok taste but they didn't put enough to make up for how dry the dish was overall. The refried beans and rice that came with the enchiladas were laughably gross and also VERY dry. I've been coming here for years, on a good friend's recommendation. It is the mullet of buildings - Business in the front (gas station) Party in the back (Tacqueria + Taphouse). And the salsa bar...was missing. I ordered that, plus my go-to, street tacos (carne). Order took a little longer than usual, but I could see it was because of the chicken. Order arrived, looking good w fresh cilantro on everything, the usual sweet onions (one of their secrets - they get the best onions) on the tacos, etc. The asked which salsa I wanted and gave me 2. (this is smart - salsa a big waster I'm sure). The chichen is deep-fried, w spicy seasoning in the batter. OMG!! All drumettes, great batter, nice heat, and meaty portions. This is an amazing place! Off the beaten path in Watsonville/Freedom is this gas station. But... the restaurant behind it is amazing. 20 beers on tap, more in the bottle and GREAT Mexican food. Not just tacos (which are great) but enchiladas with super flavorful home made red sauce-almost molé style. The Alambre burrito with 3 meats in it was fantastic too!!
