Went on Valentine's night which I expected to be busy....3 hours here a majority waiting on food is INSANE. You don't expect that.

Can't rate the food we left after 1 hour sitting at our table Waiting on our order. We love Applebees food so decided to visit the North Wilkesboro NC restaurant. We normally eat at the Boone NC restaurant great service and food. We sat down and ordered at 3:50 waitress very nice took our drink order. Approximately 5 minutes later she came by and took our food order. Around 4:25 she came by again and said the cook messed our order up she would have our food out in 5 minutes then she ghosted us. 20 minutes later another waitress came by. I complained and told her we are leaving due to my wife being diabetic she has to eat. Waitress said OK she did not show any concern so I'm guessing she did not care. Very unprofessional. We came on Fourth of July so granted it was a holiday. The hostess seemed new and things were very unorganized. People walking in and sitting before others who were waiting. Our food took over an hour to come out and there were only 4 of us. The waitress was sweet and very apologetic but clearly the kitchen staff was behind. We went there for my birthday. We ordered the blackened salmon and the Parmesan sirloin steak with shrimp. The portions are just right and the food tasted absolutely fabulous. The best part of the visit was our server, Robert, who entertained us with his humor and was friendly the entire time, very accommodating, with a great demeanor. We had the dessert of brownie bites with ice cream, and it was equally fantastic. We did not encounter any of the problems that other people have experienced. I highly recommend. read more

I hadn't been inside Applebee's to eat in a while and my fiancé took me for lunch for Valentine's Day. I had the Fiesta Lime Chicken and instantly fell in love with how amazing the food was! We didn't have a long wait time and had a very polite waitress who kept a smile on her face and gave us the best service. The atmosphere of the restaurant was very welcoming and enjoyable for lunch and dinner dates! I went again with my sister for dinner one night and again we had amazing service and the best food ever! I cannot recommend. Quality in service and food is not good. Server was not happy about her life and we struggled to get her to smile as we expressed kind and polite words to her. Table was barely cleaned off by a stressed host who was trying to be as pleasant and apologetic as he could be. We finally ordered. Drinks, frozen margaritas (eh) Pretzel appetizer was decent but the beer cheese, not that great. $14.99 + an up charge of $2.50 for a poor Caesar salad in place of French fries that I wanted as a side but got 30 minutes before food. My prime rib dipper was dry and tough and the Caesar salad dressing was thick, without good flavor and with a lot of white parts of the romaine lettuce that I had to keep mixing to try to spread the 'dressing'. Chicken sandwich was decent but the French fries served were not good. It was an expensive meal and low quality ambience and food. We work too hard for our money. We will not be back. It's unfortunate that we are hard pressed to find an eatery that takes some pride in their offerings in Wilkesboro. read more

The only way to rate an Applebee's is by comparing it to others you have visited. It stands alone in comparison to other big name restaurants. It has always been a positive experience here. The help you can tell has been well instructed and received the proper training. I have always been seated in a timely and friendly manner. The staff is always there to help you quickly and very knowledgeable about the various dishes. There recommendations are always spot on. Only twice have there been an inconvenience as to the order or check. Both of these were handled quickly and positively. The bar makes the best drinks. The perfect Margarita is what can I say PERFECT. I'm not talking a glass here but a saker. Go for it. Have a second and a third. You could sit there all night. Just make sure you have someone to drive you home. Somethings you just can't improve on. One fun thing though. Watching those at the bar trying to find a date. (Yeah right) read more

Another Applebee's Review...... for those new to my review system I rate similar restaurants against each other for the star ratings. 4 star at chain restaurant is not same as 4 star fine dining.... 7 Oz sirlion (med), broccoli and mashed potatoes. Steak was a retail cut but cooked to perfection. May be best sirlion to date from any Applebee's. Broccoli is broccoli. Eat if first if you want it hot. Mashed potatoes were good. Overall a great meal for the price. Jessie the bartender is exceptional! Nice, friendly, prompt and attentive even when the place is busy are all traits you want in an superb bartender! Tonight desert is a brownie bite. 370 calories seems rather lame compared to some of the 1000 calorie behemoths I have had the last few days. But just the right size, exactly what I needed tonight. Woo hoo....back on track for my 30 year high school reunion in two weeks. Good food at a great price. Staff is always friendly! Stop in if your in the neighborhood! I fully understand that Covid-19 has taken a toll on businesses, but that is not an excuse to serve cold, oversalted foods to the point that the only flavor any of our party of 3 could taste was the salt apart from the soured taste of the hamburger as if it had began to spoil. I doubt I will return becauae in my 3 times eating at this Applebee's it has been bad and cold on EVERY occasion. The wait staff seem overworked and we know they are not paid well. Keep up the good work wait staff, without you they don't have any reason to open because the food is nasty and always cold. read more

This place has gone so far down. I honestly wouldn't let my dog eat here. The waiter was very nice but didn't know the menu and was not attentive. It took 10 min to get a water and then when we tried to place our order we were told that they were out of ribs and steak. I eat at Applebees often and it's usually pretty good. They seem to change the menu often which can be a good or bad thing, depends on how you look at it. It seems when i find a new item i really like its taken off the menu which i understand if it doesn't sell why continue selling it and Manager Dave ALWAYS comes to our table to check on us each visit. Note: This review is based on two trips to this restaurant, one week apart. I travel through North Wilkesboro fairly often. It's a good place to stop, stretch my legs and grab something to eat. Normally, I'll grab something from one of the fast food chains, but I've burned out on those options. Although I generally despise restaurant chains I thought I'd give them a shot since there aren't any other options on that stretch of 421. Last week I stopped in for lunch at Applebees ... and was pleasantly surprised. I had the "Pick Your Combo" lunch thing and went with the soup of the day (cheese and broccoli), and a grilled chicken Caesar salad. The soup was delicious. It would have been even better if it were served -hot- instead of just warm. The salad was also delicious. The chicken was nicely seasoned and the dressing was good. The portion size was good and the price was right. On the downside, the server was a bit chatty, and their booths are all made to handle "Plus-Sized" individuals. For the most part everything was OK. I'd give that experience 3 stars. Yesterday I stopped at Applebees again, hoping for that same lunch combo (with -hot- soup) only to find that lunch combo thing is only available on the weekdays. Oh well, they didn't have the cheese and broccoli soup that day anyway ... so, against my better instincts, I ordered the 7 oz house sirloin, cooked medium-rare, and it came with garlic mashed potatoes and steamed broccoli. My dining companion insisted on ordering some fried mozzarella sticks to share. The mozzarella sticks weren't anything special, and the sweet sweet sweet marinara dipping sauce was microwaved straight from a can. The "steak" was dreadful. I knew the moment I cut the first bite off I should have played it safe and ordered a salad. It was cooked properly medium-rare but it was flavorless and had an oddly firm texture. In fact, it -looked- like a plastic replica of a steak. I ate about 1/3 of it. My dog enjoyed the rest later. The mashed potatoes were OK. The broccoli was OK. Sitting at a table was OK. Sitting near a speaker that blared second rate holiday music was -not- OK. Sitting under a TV that was turned on halfway through the meal, tuned to a football game, with the volume jacked up was -not- OK. The surly blond waitron-unit that obviously didn't want to be there was -not- OK. I'd give this experience 2 stars. Overall ... I'll round up to 3 stars because I may actually return one day if I can get the lunch combo I had the first time ... with -hot- soup ... and sit at a table ... away from the speakers / TV. read more

Easily the worst-run chain restaurant I've ever been to. Applebee's isn't a place I'd normally visit, much less hold to really high standards, but my pregnant wife has been disagreeing with most of her did lately and thought mashed potatoes seemed palatable. Some highlights: 1. The hosts sat us next to an OBNOXIOUS group of biker-trash without so much as a warning or giving us an option to wait for a take away from the ruckus. Now I'm all for letting your diverse guests enjoy the restaurant, but I'm a cheeky guy with a pretty out-there sense of humor and even *I* thought these people were tasteless and vulgar. When she finally did seat us at the table, she started to introduce the waitress to realize that she didn't know the girl's name. Seriously, you have the second-easiest job in Wilkesboro (behind to the greeter at the Walmart next door), and you can't even memorize your own co-worker's names? 2. The waitress was really horrific at her job. When we ordered our drinks, she forgot the order literally within the 8 feet between our awful table and the side stand.even the drinks came several minutes later, she forgot to give me a straw. No big deal, I think to myself, I can drink out of a big-kid cup. Then she pretty much disappears. About 15 minutes later, she finally walks back through her section to take our orders, and asks if I'd like her to refill my empty drink. Well, obviously! She brings another Diet Coke (still no straw), and leaves my empty on the table. Thirty-ish minutes later, she repeats. Now, when my wife asks for the check, I have a plate of food and 3 empty glasses AND STILL NO GODDAMN STRAW! Of course, it takes her 10 minutes to bring the check, and another 5 to pick it up. All while the Swine on Hogs continue to serenade us. 3. My wife ordered mashed potatoes and soup, and I ordered a sandwich. Twenty minutes later, her food cane out from the kitchen... Without mine. Not only is that terrible etiquette, but those items are pre-cooked; the cook, waitress, janitor, ANYBODY just had to scoop them onto their respective plateware. That took 20 minutes. You can imagine how much later the food that actually had to be cooked took to arrive. We couldn't get out of there fast enough! If she takes the job in Wilkesboro, there's no way I'm going back to Applebees. read more

Have ate in here at least twice a month for the past 3-4 years went today and had the worst experience I have had at an Applebee's anywhere in the US. The manager at this location was taking names for the waiting list and seating people, would not seat people in order of the party size they arrived, after 45 minutes when told it was a 15 minute wait left the restaurant due to having 3 children with me that were hungry. What! Also the fish and chips were just like Long John Silver's only greasier. I don't think this reflects all Applebee's.
