Our mother took a precipitous drop in her health two weeks ago. We contacted the HCA office as one of the providers we would consider for her hospice care. When we met with Alyse to both interview her and get a feel for how the organization does business, we were unanimous that HCA was the care provider we wanted for our mother. The office and in person experience was excellent. As to communication and care, I cannot say enough about the professionalism, compassion and consideration of both Alyse and our caregiver, Melissa. In the midst of a very difficult time and circumstance, they both elevated the level beyond the expectations of our family. Sadly, our mother died shortly after care was provided, but it was gratifying to have stellar care during her last days. Thank you so much for helping us and lovingly serving our mother. Unbelievable!! Dr. Bonnie is seriously a miracle-worker!!…read more BACKGROUND: On Tuesday I woke up with a knot in a muscle in my back. I tried to stretch it but somehow made it so much worse that I could not manage any position (standing, sitting, or laying) where I was not in extreme pain. If I did anything which strained it even more (like sitting down) it was so painful I would involuntarily make this grunt that honestly sounded like I was violently vomiting! I obviously could not go to work so I had to call in. I didn't quite know what to do because I had never had my back go out like this before. I had to call my mom for help. She said "Go see Bonnie!" I questioned her because the pain was definitely coming from a muscle and not my spine and I thought I might need a masseuse. But she was very sure "Nope that's Bonnie!" I would've done just about anything to make the pain go away so I gave her the benefit of the doubt and called Bonnie right away. It was early morning so she wasn't in yet but I left a voicemail. Soon she called me back and scheduled me for that morning. THE APPOINTMENT: First off, the bed she uses is automated so that you just stand against it and the bed slowly lowers until you are laying down. Thank goodness! I was worried how I would get to a laying position without passing out with excruciating pain. It was no more painful than just standing. As far as the adjustment, not only does Bonnie not crack you, but she is so gentle that you start to wonder if what she is doing could possibly make any difference. She sort of sweeps across each of your vertebrae from bottom to top. After this, her next move was putting her hand directly on the spot that was causing the pain! Unbelievable! I had not pointed it out to her and I had felt earlier for any type of noticeable bump or knot but could not feel anything. She just knew exactly where it was! After the adjustment, honestly I was still a bit unconvinced. Honestly the pain was still at a 9. FOLLOW-UP: After the adjustment, we went back out to the front office where I received directions for aftercare. I asked if I could scheduled an appointment for the following day. Since the pain was still a 9, I figured it would take several more appointments and possibly a couple of weeks to get better. Her response was "Why don't you call me tomorrow if you need me?" I thought "Of course I'll need you - I already know, but ok, whatever, I'll call you in the morning.." I also thought this was weird because I thought most chiropractors would say "You need to see me 3 times a week for the next 3 weeks" or something, just to keep the money rolling in. How does she stay in business? Anyway, I went home, iced it once, took ibuprofen to reduce the swelling, and read until I finally dozed off for a nap. When I awoke, I was impressed - the pain had gone to a 7. Later that afternoon I was able to doze off for a second nap. When I woke up from that one, it was a 4! Unbelievable! I was already impressed, but the next morning when I woke up it was a 1!!! No wonder she hadn't scheduled a follow-up appointment! She was right - I didn't need one! That afternoon, the pain was a 0! Within a day and a half it went from a 10 to a 0!! With only one dose of ibuprofen, one time icing it and one adjustment from Bonnie! I have no other explanation than that she is absolutely a miracle-worker! When I told my mom all of this, she was not surprised at all - she has had the same experience with her several times.. Unbelievable! And yet you've gotta believe me! I am sold! This woman is truly AMAZING!!
