My Mom and her friends constantly wait 45 minutes to an hour to have an order taken or be served. Stale bread sandwiches, The cake is so stale you cannot cut it with a fork!! The other night a new resident sat for an hour alone at a table waiting for is order to be taken even after the other guests told the servers he had not even had is order taken, He finally started walking back to his room hungry and unfed when the waitress finally followed down the hall to take his order. Meals with friends are a highlight of the day for my Mom and her friends. Both my Mom and her friends have complained to Diane the person in charge of the facility and also written complaints in the suggestion box, To no avail! My Mom purchases food to eat in her room as she sometimes just cant muster up the patience for a 2 hour lunch or dinner. The cost to live here is not cheap and meals are included in the cost, But if you can't get fed... There is no value.

I can remember him driving people to go shopping down town Salem. I loved riding along. Not sure a person could get away with that now. My grandmother on my Mother's side worked here when they first opened. I have no memory of it because I wasn't born yet. This last August my Grandma from Dad's side moved in. I stopped in a few times to see her with my doggie's, and my Son's. I thought her apartment was really cute, updated, and clean. When you walk in you smell the food. It smelled pretty good. I was hoping to get a chance to eat a meal with my Grandma. The last time I stopped was mid September. I am glad I stopped. That was the last time I was able to spend with her. My Dad said the meals were good, he went to eat with her, and so did my Aunt, and Uncle. If I lived up there I would have been there a lot. I am just glad she was able to spend her final days some what close to home, and some what familiar.

I have found the management responsive to my concerns, and that the caregivers are kind, caring and empathetic with Mom's situation. I was surprised at some of the comments made about this care facility, because never in my dozens on unannounced visits have I found the building anything but light, bright, clean and orderly, the dining room neat and prepared for the next meal, and the quality and variety of the food excellent. I toured many local care facilities before placing Mom here, and I can tell you Boone Ridge is, to my mind, head and shoulders above the rest. So Five Stars for Boone Ridge Senior Living, I appreciate all that they do for my family.

He hosted the lunch today for 23 people who also listened to a presentation by Rob Mill from CERT (Community Emergency Response Team). He told us how to take immediate steps to be prepared for any natural disaster. It was a great day and Alberto and Emerald Gardens made it perfect! Everyone I've encountered at Emerald Gardens is friendly, professional and very helpful--especially Alberto! Thank you so much for all you do for the Senior Center!

More like a thank you letter…read more Probably not the easiest review to write, but necessary to help others dealing with the same circumstances. I have a family member living here and has unfortunately has gone into Hospice care. This week has been very difficult for me and my family to say the least. I do want to say, we've all been very impressed by the professional, compassionate and sometimes thankless work they do daily. It's HARD work. The profession I'm in works hand in hand with housing such as Emerald Gardens. To me, many folks that work at some of these facilities and with Hospice are "angels walking among us" I am reminded that there are wonderful caring people in this world.. Even though our family is hurt and saddened by the loss of a family member, we all feel we were in good hands and more importantly our loved one was in good hands and acknowledged, respected and understood by the staff here, and that, brings some comfort to us. The staff is very friendly and accommodating, there's a computer lab and printer for residents and their guests, and there are plenty of senior-friendly activities. There is a ceramics shop complete with two kilns, a woodworking room, a mini-gym complete with a pool, bus tours, a chapel, lobby areas to watch TV, a library on each floor, gardening plots for residents, quilting and sewing. The only drawback is that it is a huge place and is easy to get lost in the first few times. Even now I still get lost from time to time or end up exiting the building into the wrong parking lot. I probably know more about the guest rooms than I do anything else since I don't actually live here. Since I'm from out-of-state, I stay in the guest rooms every time I visit Mimmie. They are just like hotel rooms only better because you don't have to deal with seasonal or weekend rates and it's cheaper than many hotels anyways. Tip: stay in a room with two beds, even if it's just you, because you pay per person not bed, and because the double rooms have a fridge. In other words, free fridge. Free breakfast in the main dining room on the first floor, but I always go up to Mimmie's room and eat with her. There are several levels of residence depending on the level of the senior's need. Mimmie and Poppie used to live on the eighth floor, but after Poppie passed away and Mimmie's health began to decline more rapidly, she moved to Manor Care where she can get monitored more regularly. Back in 2009 when she happened to have a medical emergency while I was visiting, I pulled the emergency cord and the nurse was in their room in a flash. It seems to be a close-knit community: everytime I rent a room or sign into the computer lab and identify myself as Mimmie's guest, everyone already knows who she is. I recommend checking this place out if you're looking for places for your senior citizen.
