My LG refrigerator from Costco stopped working with an "FF E" error code. Due to it being 2.5 years…read moreold (outside the 2 year warranty), I had to get it fixed myself. He came out and opened the freezer door, noted the frost on the inside and proceeded to tell me the freezer fan was not providing cooled air to the refrigerator and the ice was preventing the fan from circulating. This was all correct. He then stated that the frost build up was due to "insulation going bad" and I need to contact LG to see if they will replace it and that "there was nothing" he could do. In less than 5 minutes of arriving, said "that'll be $85." I was stunned and told him to point out the cold spots on the back of the fridge that he said he found. I couldn't feel them and he then got a laser thermometer. My house thermostat is set to 69°F and the coldest spot he found on my refrigerator was 67°F. I refused to pay him. Do not use him. Full stop. I am sadly not surprised there is another review on here from someone else who he did the same thing to. I used another business that actually has a reputable track record and a professional technician will at least provide an actual diagnosis and total cost upfront. He didn't even look up the error code.

Even though the wiring was right there, he refused, and then simply left. Trying to solve the problem, I called an electrician, only to learn that--because of the layout of my kitchen--a GFCI outlet under the sink wouldn't even be reachable. The dishwasher had to remain hardwired. No major store was willing to do that, so I had no choice but to return the dishwasher. I still needed one, but I was out of options. Then I found Driskell's--and that's where the angels truly are. Gail was my first angel. She didn't hesitate for a second: "Of course we can hardwire it. Most homes are." She then price-matched a competitor on an even better model--more features, better quality, and still affordable. When the first unit arrived with damage right out of the box and later failed, Natalie became my second angel. She took ownership of the situation immediately. Instead of making me battle the manufacturer, she handled everything herself and arranged a full replacement. She genuinely wanted me to be happy with my purchase, and her commitment went far beyond anything a chain store would ever offer. After a growing frustration with it, then checking both Next Door and Yelp, I decided to call Ricardo. He was awesome to chat with about the issue. He was willing to drive out to us and check it, and we were willing to pay the service charge. At his suggestion, he had me text him photos, including the model number and serial number. He called me back a few hours later. He had researched the issue and determined original parts are no longer available. (I had researched separately and had come to the same conclusion.) Ricardo added that in his experience, the aftermarket replacement parts are not the same quality and have been problematic. His recommendation was to plan on replacing the refrigerator if we still wanted that capability. No charge for his time. It was a great experience and highly recommend him.

I asked what washing machines he recommends, for durability: Speed Queen (expensive), Maytag, Amana, Whirlpool. He said used are good, but buy from an appliance store, with a warranty. They come to my house and do an assessment for my oven of about 5 minutes when I already told them the problem. They tell me they have submit the claim and then order the part. Several weeks go by and I attempt to call but no answer. I then sent a text and the response was just "okay" when I inquired about the status. I then contacted my insurance to find out that they never submitted the claim. So basically, they just come out to collect the service fee and not follow through.
