With the appointment of 26065510-1 left work at 12 and get home by 12:50 wait entire day no show of tech . got a call from a tech around 7Pm that I will call you in an hour and come , did not call and did not show up. Called him back at 8:45 PM and ask the time, he said he can not come and he will be at my place 8AM the next morning , Did not show up till 8:35 AM and he said he is leaving now and take him another hour , had 2 choice stay home another day for fake promise or go to work, I said to him we can not let you in and we do not need service like that. This company is a SCAM!!! They come in and do a diagnostic on your appliance and tell you need a part. They give you a cheap used defective part that keeps breaking down while you think you are paying for new parts. We paid $734.50 to have our fridge fixed from icing and they did not fix the issue. They delay in getting back to you so your 3 month warranty expires as happened to us. When you call customer service or email them you get a rude guy by the name of Benjamin who will talk over you and then hang up on you. Save yourself the time, money and mental anguish by not hiring them you will regret it like we have. This is a SCAM Company and they are unethical. This is a rip off service - they sent a technician by the name of Tom - it was such a con. I manage a bakery - I was scheduled for the appointment for a window of 11 AM - 3 PM by the office. There was no communication whatsoever at 2:30 PM I called the office and they said that they will let the technician know and ask him to call me directly. The technician called me and said that he had a flat tire etc. so the soonest he can come would be 5 PM - I told him the store closes at 6 PM and he asked me to explain what the problem was and I asked him if he was an expert on Bakers Pride Ovens. He insisted he knew what the problem was and that he would be there by that time. At 5:15 PM he calls to say that he was 5 minutes away due to traffic and I told him he would not have enough time to test the issue with the oven and he eventually showed up at 5:30 PM. When he came he asked me where is the switch ON button for the Oven what each of the buttons represent etc. I was shocked and asked him if you are an expert in these models why are you asking me the obvious questions and he said each machine is different so he needs to be sure. He did an "assumed" diagnostics test that was not really a test - as we were closing at 6 PM he said that I need to pay $165 plus taxes to him - He did not tell me that there was any issue with the oven and insisted I need to pay the $165 plus taxes - I told him that he did not uncover any issues so what am I paying for and he told me that I need to pay no matter what as his time counted for something. There was a lot of back and forth between us and he started threatening saying that he is going to issue an invoice and the office will call and insist on payment and that the company will be taken to credit bureau for non payment. He issued a report and invoice that stated that it was a contactor without really looking at the problem. He insisted that I need to pay so he started bargaining with me about the price to pay - He told me I should pay him then at least $120 plus tax and I told him NO. He then insisted I pay him $100 plus tax which is now a residential rate and that he is doing us a favor so that we do not go through the credit bureau. He also told me that I should use the oven and shoot the videos to capture what is actually wrong with the oven and send him the photos and videos via text message and he will surely come to check what the problem is. I told him - I hope he is not conning me and that I am paying the amount on Good Faith and Best Business Practices. The next morning the issues for the oven occurred I took the videos and photos and sent these to him. I also called him several times and he told me he will call me back with a resolution. He never did and never saw or heard from him again. I am attaching the invoice that was paid for and the most annoying thing is the office sends me an email twice saying this: If you post a 5-star review on Google, it will help other customers just like you -- especially those who are in search of urgent repair. Date:May 3, 2025 Dishwasher repair 1. Tech arrived over an hour late (appointment window was between 12-4) 2. Tech left the dishwasher running charged for repair $316.40 3. Tried to use dishwasher on the 5th and it didn't work. Same problem as before 4. Called to have tech return--visit scheduled for 9am 5. Tech called at 9:50am to say he was on the way, could not wait, had to leave for other business. He apparently arrived at 10am but we weren't there 6. Booked another appointment for May 9 at 4:30 (I had to leave work early) 7. Tech arrived at 5:15 8. Told us that it was the motor and that it wasn't worth repairing 9. No amount was refunded 10. Called company for an explanation/follow-up got put on hold for over 20 minutes, got cut off, called again with the same results of getting cut off after being "transferred to a customer service specialist". I do not recommend Appliance Repair Expert My dishwasher had stopped working - no water was filling into the washer and we could see there was a small leak coming from the bottom of the appliance. I searched online for a reputable appliance repair company and came across Appliance Repair Expert (on Homestar). Reviews seemed ok - a little mixed - but decided to give it a try. I left a message and someone did call back and said they would give us a 30$ discount for a first time call. We set an appointment time. A man named Thomson called me to tell me he would be at my home 1 hour before the set time, which was fine as I was available. He came in and looked at the dishwasher. First, he said a valve was leaking, and simply tightening it may stop the leaking issue. Then, he determined that I needed a new circulation pump motor assembly for $390 which would fix the water not filling into the dishwasher problem. He told me parts and labour would be approx $700. I thought it was too much, and when I said so, he said he could give me a discount, making the total $610. At that point, he asked for a $450 deposit. I felt uncomfortable, because I was worried he would take the money and not do the work, but he assured me he would come back to fix my dishwasher. I paid the deposit, even though I felt that it was a lot, and for a company I was not familiar with. On the other hand, I felt I was already committed, as I already had to pay $100 for the service call. This all happened on a Monday. By Friday, I hadn't heard anything, and I called him back to see the status - at first he was confused as to who I was. He said it would be another few days. He returned the next Monday, and honestly he acted disrespectful. The weather was bad, but came to my home with his shoes on - was abrupt with me, avoided eye contact, was on his phone, and was behaving as if he was doing me a favour. He fixed the circulation pump motor assembly and got the dishwasher to work again. He said he would tighten the valve so it would not leak but asked me to monitor it for leaks. We put a small pan under it to catch the leak. He put the dishwasher back in, and left a piece off that in order to see if there was still a leak. The dishwasher was now sitting in the counter space 2 inches lower than it was before - leaving a big gap. He was rough with it, and he tore a piece off my countertop when installing it. He also left dirt and grime all over the face of the dishwasher, which was really disgusting, I felt it was very unprofessional. He took the old assembly he had removed with him, he said to dispose of it. The next morning, we woke up to water flowing from the basement ceiling below the dishwasher. I texted him immediately to let him know. I also told him that I did not trust him, or his work, and that he had taken more money and made the issue a lot worse. I had a feeling that this was not a real company as I had tried calling the "head office" and never was able to reach anyone. I contacted another company to come and fix the issue. The new technician (who came highly recommended) came and said that the water leak was because Thomson from Appliance Repair Expert tightened the valve too tight and caused the damage. He also said that the circulation pump assembly was likely not the reason for the water not filling the basin. A new circulation pump would be needed if the water was filling but not moving - which was not the case. He also agreed that the manner he reinstalled the dishwasher was a problem. It was 2" lower and on a forward tilt, which would cause pooling and more water damage if it was left as is. The new technician fixed the valve and reinstalled the dishwasher. He left it clean and in great working order. read more

There are many that don't. We had Ali from them both times. He really knows his stuff and when he comes, he follows COVID protocols abc is also a really nice serviceman. This company services the GTA. So they do span a large area. You can book online with them or via the phone. . Please note that they do give a discount for - first time clients, repeat clients and seniors. There are coupons on their website. You do need to mention the coupon when booking the call. Please note that we did call around and their service fees are very competitive. If you book them, you will receive a text or email confirmation with a 4 hour window noted. Once you pay, you will receive your invoice electronically and they will ask you to rate the service. It made it so easy to work with them. Very professional. I will say that our of the other services I called to ask for service only 1 other replied. 2 others did not even give me the courtesy of a reply. Totally recommend this company! read more

Appliance Repair Expert is a complete scam. Make sure never to be dumb enough to call these scammers like I did. A technician came to repair my dryer 2 weeks ago. I ordered 2 parts which never came, and I got no follow up. I called them (not the other way around) and they told me the technician no longer works with them and I will get a refund. Next day, still no refund. I called them (not the other way around) and they told me I need to send an e-mail to the manager Andrew Smith, like that's not the most generic fake name ever. I send an e-mail, they text me the next day that my refund has been processed. It was still pending in my Visa account after 4 business days. Never posted in my account. I've disputed the original charge but that takes a while to resolve. I never received the refund in my account, so I left them a negative review on their multiple Google company pages, as it appears they conduct their scam in different cities across Canada. They saw my reviews, called me and served me some bull about having an issue with their system, and told me they'll send me an e-transfer if I delete my negative reviews. Right. Please be warned. The positive reviews on Google are most likely largely fake. I don't care about the money really, but scammers are the worst. I had (Neil) that I am told no longer works with them to diagnose my stove on December 30th, 2020 .He called me on January 15th, 2021 to let me know that Whirlpool parts are a 6-8 week wait due to covid, I paid a deposit for order. I have called 10 times over the past year, typically speaking with a lady who said that the part is still not available and that it will be a 6-8 week additional wait. In November 2021 I spoke with a team member they reviewed my account, but no sign of payment for a part, and no part on order. After reaching to a manager they said they would resolve it or give me my money back. Then I called/email weekly since Nov 2021 and nothing- no response from anyone. Jan 17th, 2022 and new manager says they will send me my money for the unreceived part the next day. Now, multiple emails/ calls to them silence again and its February 1st, 2022. 13 months later, I still have no part or refund. This is a warning, do not ever use them. They are useless. read more

We had booked an appointment with this company to repair a refrigerator. After making the appointment, we realized that the company had received many negative reviews online, so we cancelled the appointment and booked with another appliance repair company that had been recommended. We subsequently received an invoice from Appliance Repair Expert Corp billing us for "Diagnose and Repair of Electric Appliance - Refrigerator". No diagnosis or repair was done. In fact, as we understand it, the charge was for a cancelled appointment. We asked the company to send us a corrected invoice reflecting what it was for, which we would pay. Instead of taking that simple step, the company referred the account to a collection agency. That agency contacted us, and we explained the situation to them. They agreed that we had a valid position, and that they would not pursue the case. Some months later, we received a threatening email from another collection agency, Dixon Commercial Investigators. We provided that agency with the same information, but they were not interested in communicating with us, other than to send further threatening emails. We finally decided to pay the invoice rather than wasting any more time on the matter. But we strongly advise against hiring Appliance Repair Expert Corp for any work, since they appear to be an unethical company. read more

I wanted to give negative stars if i could. They dont even deserve 1 star. In May 2023, I contacted appliance repair expert in Guelph for repairing my washing machine and dryer. An appointment was booked for diagnosing the problem (I don't remember the exact date) at 9 am in the morning as I had to go out of my house by 10am for work. They said they will be there by 9am. I waited on the specified day till 10:30am. No one showed up. I even called them continuously, but no one answered. I got a call at 11am saying that they are coming. I told them that I have left the house and I waited for them for 1:30hr. There was no apology, and the person was very rude. he said, "do you don't want us to come" and i said yes as I had already left the house. So, they did not come, and no service was provided. After few months, I got a call from collection agency saying that I owed money to this company. I TOLD HER THAT I WAS NEVER CONTACTED BY THEM FOR THE PAYMENT OR SENT AN INVOICE. I explained the situation, the lady said that they have got similar response from other people also about this company. She said that she will close the file and I don't have to pay anything. After that there was no correspondence. During this whole time the company did not even contact me once and did not even send me any invoice. In May 2024, I got an email from Dixon commercial (collection agecy) that they tried to contact me on several occasions and since I did not respond they are sending me this email. I replied and explained the whole situation to them. But they did not care about the explanation. I even called and left numerous voice mails but no response. On further pressing the issue, they sent me an invoice whihc was totally rubbish. I again explained them the situation, but they still did not care. I got an email again today saying that they will report me to the credit bureau if I don't pay. When no service was given, when they did not keep the appointment time, how can they expect me to pay. Then said both heating elements had to be replaced. No testing with an ohmmeter (he didn't pull the oven out of the cabinet). DID NOT PROVIDE A WRITTEN QUOTE -- SAID IT WAS AGAINST COMPANY POLICY!!! Later texted a deposit amount we needed to pay to have the parts ordered, which would take 3 months. The stated amount was $879.63 (for 2 elements). THE ACTUAL PRICE FROM THE BRAND'S OFFICIAL LOCAL PARTS DISTRIBUTOR: $275.85. SO APPLIANCE REPAIR CHARGES A 320% MARKUP. Even worse, the "diagnosis" was wrong -- all 3 elements are in fact functional (the oven has 3, not 2 elements as claimed by the pseudo-technician). The problem was a defective control/relay board. I called to obtain a refund on the "diagnostic visit", if an agent answers, he promises to transfer the call but hangs up; if you call back, they hang up immediately.
