Another A/C company insisted I buy an entirely new system or wait 2 weeks for two special order outrageously-priced parts for my current system. JPR came by and quickly observed I only needed one part, which is a common one, and it was already stocked in their truck. They installed and had our a/c running in 30 minutes. The other company was charging 15 TIMES their price for that one part, and the other parts recommended were totally unnecessary -- this crazy estimate and two week special-order timeframe (while it's 100 degrees out) was entirely designed to push us to buy a new system. If you want to upgrade to new system, great. I'd still go with JPR to make recommendations, install and maintain it. If you can't afford an entirely new system, don't let anyone talk you into one -- let JPR look at your current one and make a real honest assessment of what it needs and if it's worth keeping. After dealing with two shifty A/C companies now I know how rare it is to find a great one.

The company i ended up going with did it for 175. They have a lot of good reviews because I am sure they probably do great work but i will not do business with someone that tries to take advantage of you when you have a failure at an inoppertune time.
