Ongoing billing dispute with no resolution after months of contact. Apria delivered a device in February 2026, then submitted charges to the wrong insurance, resulting in incorrect billing. Despite multiple written disputes (email, certified mail) and active complaints filed with the Arizona Attorney General's Office and the CFPB, Apria has not responded to any correspondence. The disputed February charges remain unresolved on my account while later charges continue to accrue. I'd recommend documenting everything in writing if you do business with this company, as verbal contact appears to go nowhere. read more

They just never answered the phone... I had to call no less than eight times often 10 to 20 minute weights, even left my number for them to call me back and didn't get it. Most likely they are understaffed, but they are terrible to deal with. read more

Horrible! Had an order for oxygen for a week, still have not received it. I call and sit on hold every time for 30min and when I finally get through they are still missing something where they can't fill the order. They only accept faxed orders but the fax is getting to them. I ask if the doctor can email the prescription and they say no. They close at 5pm so now have to wait again. They say they are 24hrs but last weekend when the order was placed they say they are closed and can't accept the order until Monday. Horrible company, Horrible customer service. I people wonder why there are so many readmissions to hospitals, it is because patients are unable to get what they need at home. Such a disgrace and disappointment to say the least. read more

I cannot understand these bad/adverse reviews. I've been using April for supplies for over five years, and each experience, phone or in person, has been excellent. Easy to get through, happy representatives, accurate orders, quick arrival, and so forth. Yesterday I spoke with an Apria rep in Arizona, and the call and interaction were perfect. He was happy, pleasant, and helpful. If there were any criticism, it would be that the authentication system at the beginning of the phone call (phone number, birthdate) often does not get transmitted to the rep who answers my call. Not a big deal, since it's just 30 seconds of live talk to get authenticated. Thank you, Apria, for being the best part of Apria. It's absolutely the phone service system that needs an overhaul. Dad was released from the hospital on Sunday with an order for oxygen. Used the HonorHealth post-discharge instructions and called the Gilbert phone # 602-313-6826. They are officially closed on weekends but do fill orders. Unfortunately none of their phone options lets you know how to get to them. I desperately called the Nurse Help Line. The first nurse wasn't sure what to do...but she asked a 2nd nurse who told us the trick: you need to press 4 which is the option "If you are currently parked outside." Then you listen through and will hear "press 2 if for any reason your call cannot wait." And then I got a live person. So that's Strike 1. How would any customer know that? So know we've taxed the nursing line by having to contact them for an absolutely ridiculous question that would be completely unnecessary if they set up their phone options correctly. The one positive was the young man who brought the equipment, set it up, and walked us through how to use it. I hope you're getting paid well, sir, because if Apria treats their employees like they treat their customers, I worry for you. Strike 2: The secondary travel tank was not filling properly. I turned the knob, checked for air leaking, checked everything we had been told to do by the employee. So I called the Apria phone #. Was on hold for 6 minutes, thought that was ridiculous, and called the national # on the machine. That # had me put in my zip code, so my guess is I was rerouted back where I had been holding all along - Gilbert. I was on hold for 18 minutes before someone picked up. So that's 18 + 6 = 24 minutes before reaching a person. He walked me through trying things, and when it all failed, he set an appointment for someone to come out the next day. However, he couldn't give me a time. I mean...it's worse than the cable company...no window except ALL DAY. He said I could call back the next day and they could tell me what time was scheduled. I told him I absolutely would not be calling back to be on hold for 24 minutes. Strike 3: Well, I got the travel tank to work by myself in the early morning of the day of the appointment. Good news/bad news, right? The bad news being I had to call Apria again. And like clockwork, I was on hold for 24 minutes before someone picked up. If your loved one, who is likely elderly or infirm had to go through this, it would likely not get done, as they do not have the stamina or sometimes basic understanding of how to weave through this kind of inept crap. Do better, Apria. Geez I'd sure love to figure out who's in charge of the contract that HonorHealth seems to have with Apria so I could give them my feedback as well. If I could give Apria negative stars I would. My husband was hospitalized Sept 2022. When he was discharged, they said he needed a walker at home. An Apria rep called me the evening before discharge and asked me about insurance information. The woman on the phone could not seem to verify insurance but said we could sort it out later. Well - long story short, I had to call Apria SEVEN yes SEVEN times to tell them what my insurance was. I have Blue Cross Blue Shield of AZ, so it is not some obscure insurance company. I continued to receive bills. I kept calling and said, "if you look in your documentation, you can see I am trying to get you to bill my VALID insurance". So fast-forward to today June 6, 2023. I get a final notice for this stupid Apria bill. I call and check and OF COURSE they have NOT billed insurance. SO admittedly, the bill is for $47. I get it is not a big amount. But the point is this. I have insurance. My husband DIED January 2023. (side note - I am not a senile person - I am in my 50's as was my husband) I really don't have the patience to deal with inept, ridiculously out-sourced and clueless companies. I paid the bill and asked for a receipt to bill my insurance myself. If you can avoid using this really really poor company, do yourself a favor and avoid. read more

This has to be one of the worst companies to deal with - I have zero idea as to how they even continue to operate. After my husband being on their auto ship plan we decided to cancel and just call in when supplies were needed. We discovered very early on that they were supplying one size head gear piece and a different size mask - this happened for 4 plus shipments, never caught. After calling in to try and ship these back - resolution was never received. This lead to exceeding the 30 return window, which after asking apria to make an exception and was told we would receive a call within 7-10 business days.....a call was never received. We did however receive a bill from them for almost $600 for the past TWO years! After spending an hour on the phone trying to sort this out we were told that his HSA card wasn't on file and that the insurance finally got back to them - funny how it was billed after the date on the invoice. I know insurance companies can be slow, but not two years slow! Sounds to me like someone didn't do their job and properly bill. After updating insurance information on that same call - he called a week later to order new supplies. To which he found out the insurance information was input incorrectly. Along with the lack of customer service skills, their inability to properly perform their job is unreal. If we didn't have to use this company we absolutely wouldn't. read more

I said I would gladly pay the entire amount if I could see what I'm paying for and they just want me to make payments...? Originally they told me that my health insurance would cover everything and that was a lie. I've reached out countless times and even switched distributors last year and submitted returns requests.. nothing.. just got another bill somehow when I don't even use them.. they should refund me for years of nothing, at least respond to my messages so I never have to deal with them again New addition. I've gotta say, I'm not one to enjoy dealing with healthcare companies and insurance, but the ladies at the Bluejay location in Gilbert make things easy.  I had an insurance swap which caused a billing issue as well as an improper size on some of my gear.  I went into the office, assuming I was in for an endless amount of red tape and frustration.  Lorrie the branch coordinator took my information and resolved all of the issues that I had.  Two other ladies were assisting and really took care of all of the problems I went in with, and I left totally pleased.  When I got home, I explained to my wife that I'm very rarely overwhelmed by amazing customer service, especially when it comes to healthcare and insurance.  Within a few hours, I had an email from Lorrie following up on the pending question she was addressing, stating it had been resolved. I dread having to try and call for information from this company but its the one my insurance co deals with. I inevitably get put on hold for 20minutes or more after having to endure listening to multiple menu choices. Then the receptionist answers the phone and I have to explain my question then I get put on hold again for the "appropriate expert. The recorded message says help is just a moment away...I've been on hold now for over 40 minutes. That's a very long moment. I GIVE UP My albuterol nebulizer compressor stopped working after just 12 uses. I think they supply you with the cheapest noisiest equipment...probably according to Medicare guidelines then if you complain enough they will change it out for better quality equipment, that's what happened with my CPAP equipment read more

You can never get in contact with people who leave voice mails, they sent the incorrect supplies, I'm trying to return the incorrect things they sent, and have had to deal with incompetence at every turn! This, and EVERY time I call, they "remind" me that I have a small outstanding balance. Yes, I do, and I have told them every time that once they bill my insurance, then and only then they can send me a bill and I'll pay it. The worst company to deal with! They auto ship equipment without even contacting you; include no billing amount for supplies; then when trying to return equipment, forget it! They say I don't owe any amount for the supplies and to just keep them but my insurance says I owe $264. because my deductible is not met! I've been transferred from customer service, to billing level, billing level 2 and no one understands english! My advice, DONT DEAL WITH APRIA! read more

I have read negative reviews about Apria on other sites, but we had no choice as the Dr referred us to them. Long story short, the device that was "sold" to my husband was used as directed, but it did not help him. He found out later that he had a disorder totally unrelated to the original reason he was ordered to buy the device from Apria. Apria uses a 3rd party billing company called Care Centrix. They would not discuss the possibility of a refund even if we walked in and handed them the device. This is a goodwill customer service issue, and with the 3rd party billing , everyone uses the old " not our policy" answer. We laid out hundreds of dollars for a device that was prescribed in error. If I could I would give them negative stars. I recently changed health insurance so when they sent me box of c-pap supplies I told them that I have new insurance. I told them if it is too expensive I would be sending the box back. Next thing I know I get a bill for $13.41 so I paid the bill and open the box and start using it. 3 months later I get another bill from them for $182.18. Date of service is 4-28. I got my box on February. It also says there's previous balance. When I added up everything the total should be $96.06. I called the 800 number and they said the wait time Is 30 minutes. After waiting for an hour I finally hung up. I would never use them again. read more

I've been dealing with Apria since 2004 and it's getting worse, year by year. In the beginning, they weren't that bad. But as time has proven, they don't age well. The office in Gilbert is the classic case. Bad customer service and the feeling I get is, they hear about it all the time and now are just annoyed that they can't shake that image of Suck. This company overcharged me and will not refund my over payment. They acknowledge the over payment and agree I should receive a refund but after five weeks I have still have not seen anything. I would give them a negative star review if I could. I received a medical grade breast pump to help nurse my daughter due to a heart condition at the time. I received it in April or may and returned it in august. The lady who contacted me to get it shipped out told me the return label will be in the box and just ship it out when I finish using the pump. They called me in December or janurary of the following year asking if I still needed more time with the pump I told them no I returned it using the shipping label. I called Apria many times and told them this same story and each time they said that they need to look into their inventory and give me a call back. I never received a call back. Fast forward to today 7 months after returning it I get an automated message saying they are coming to pick it up and that I am incurring late fees. Also would like to note I have never received a bill or a letter from Apria just a bunch of automated messages. Apria is TERRIBLE I will NEVER use them again- and I plan to submit a formal complaint to BBB. read more

I have been trying to get a portable oxyginator so I can go back to work. They have had the prescription for a week now, and keep putting me off. I thought it went thru my health insurance, but it has nothing to do with them. I explained how does a "yes or no" take 15 days ?? Worst company ever. Why don't they get people in there that can do a better job. I cannot take 3 tanks of oxygen every day with me to my job. This is not a luxury item to me, it is out of necessity for me. read more

THE WORST EVER!!! If I could give them no stars I would. 1. The are handling oxygen deliveries for elderly people and do not come the day they say they will deliver. You then have to chase them. 2. And then you can't chase them because you can never get through to their customer service dept! They keep you on endless hold with terrible music. On the occasion you do manage to get thru to them the reps are awful! Not helpful at all and certainly not trained in customer service. I get better service getting paper towels delivered let alone much needed oxygen for the elderly! read more

My husband uses Apria for his oxygen; unfortunately, the insurance carrier picked this company. They are the absolute worst, most incompetent bunch of flakes we've ever had to deal with, in my opinion. When I call, I usually have to wait about 45 minutes on hold. We received a letter from Apria claiming they'd made several attempts to contact us to maintenance the oxygen-maker, but that was not true; no one ever tried to contact us. I then called, and scheduled an appointment, but the soonest available one was the following week. A few days later, the machine broke down--we were under the impression my husband had to go without oxygen till the scheduled appointment. Of course, no one ever showed up for the appointment. This is the 2nd time they've failed to show up for a previously scheduled appointment. The first time, we waited all day for them to deliver a 3rd oxygen tank, and take the empty one. But the no one showed up. The next day when we were gone, someone showed up at the door, left their card, took the empty tank, but didn't leave a new one. It's up to you to make an informed decision about using this company. After all, this is about your health. I don't recommend them based on the horrible experience we've had. read more

This is one of the worst customer experiences I have received in a very long time, possibly ever! They are completely disorganized and trying to get a piece of equipment ordered and delivered was a nightmare. I have had to call 7 times in the last week and even though I have been scheduled for delivery twice, I still don't have the equipment. They never call you back as promised and they charged my CC without my knowledge or consent. Their representatives are not helpful and they are clueless as to what their own process and procedures are. Apria Healthcare is a very bad business. Their employees that I have dealt with are incompetent, crooked and liars. They obviously outsource to India because everyone I've spoken to has that accent. One I could not understand at all. I kept saying, "What did you say?" I had an order from my doctor for two items - a heating pad and TEN's unit. The heating pad was covered, but they said they were awaiting a response on the prior auth from my insurance company. They called me back the same day and said that my insurance approved the TEN's unit. I was told that I could pick up the heating pad from this Gilbert location. I ended up receiving both items in the mail. And, I have to agree with what others have written about this company. Long hold times, multiple transfers, calls transferred, but got hung up on instead. Had to start the process over. Anyway, I thought everything was taken care of after I received my supplies. Weeks later, I received a letter from my insurance (AHCCCS) that the TEN's unit was denied. I called my insurance and explained what had happened. She told me that Apria should not have shipped it out, but now, since I have AHCCCS/Medicaid, Apria cannot bill me nor ask me to return it. She said it's optional if I want to return it, but they cannot bill me for it if I kept it. Did they really want a used unit anyway? My insurance said not to worry about it since it was Apria's mistake and I had no way of knowing before opening the unit. That was last year. Today, I received a phone call from Apria (another rude person with that accent) demanding that I return the unit or pay for it since my insurance denied it. I explained that I was told by Apria that is was approved and they shipped it to me. She didn't care, just made more demands. I hung up on her and called my insurance. According to them, Apria never even submitted the prior authorization until one month after I had been told that it was approved and had received my unit. Apria doesn't know what they're doing, then they turn it around and blame the patient for their employees' incompetence. Just despicable. read more

This company misleads the customers at every turn. First I never heard from my Dr. that I needed a CPAP machine but they kept calling me and leaving messages about "their patient". I finally gave in and answered the call and they said that I had a CPAP machine waiting on the request from my Dr. It is my fault for not checking with my Dr. on this. So I went and picked it up and was told the machine was covered by my insurance company. At no time was a rental agreement discussed. Well this year my insurance company instituted a deductible. They apparently denied Apria due to the fact my deductible was not met. So instead of calling me and letting me know and asking if I wanted to keep the machine they just billed me. I called and asked what the bill was for because it didn't say and they told me so I said come pick it up. I gave them times I would be home and their delivery person NEVER showed up and all the while they continued to bill me. A rep called me and we discussed what happened and it was explained to me that I discussed the rental on my initial visit. It was also explained to me if I paid off of the bill the machine would be mine to keep. So I so fine. I paid it and was asked if I could write down a confirmation number but I said no due to the fact I was driving. They asked for my email address to send it to me and I have never received it. I will continue to monitor my accounts to make sure I am not being billed. If this company calls you just say no read more

We were on a trip to Kansas when my husband had to have oxygen for pneumonia. They set us up there with bottles to transport for our trip. The person we dealt with, Derek fro, Dodge City, had to travel 50 miles to the hospital, but was very nice and explained everything. When we got back to Arizona they had already set us up with this same company and gave us the 800 number to call when we were ready for them to come to our house and set us up temporary. We called, but had a terrible time with the girl on the phone. She was very unqualified to handle the request. We finally got the call from the Gilbert, AZ. office who delivered all the necessary equipment. Michael from this office was very nice and also explained everything. Both our experiences with Derek and Michael were excellent, but the 800 phone service needs a lot of work. read more

We have been using Apria for almost 10 years for respiratory supplies for our two sons. When we could order locally, everything was prompt and usually about 98% correct. If we had a problem , we could call the head respiratory therapist and it would be corrected. Then they changed over to a central ordering system for the whole country about three years ago and almost every order is wrong, late, short, you name it. That's if you can even get through to place an order. Sometimes it can take a dozen or more calls before anyone answers, then it's the wrong department. When they transfer you to trache or respiratory, you are left on hold forever. It seems the call center is outsourced because it is very hard to understand the customer service rep. due to a strong accent. Last time it took three days to submit an order for respiratory. We were on the phone today from 10AM until 6PM and never got through to the right person after 15 calls! Every time we were transferred, no one answered. We have to use them due to insurance constraints and it sure is extremely frustrating, especially since Apria claims to be the largest supplier in the country. The new system sucks! read more

Along with many others, i would not recommend this company. My origianl c-pap order showed up promptly but had a wrong item. I called them to request a replacment on 11/15. I was told that I needed a new prescription that clearly noted i needed a 'heated' water chamber. That was on the original prescription. I contacted my doctor who sent in the new prescription notine the 'heated' part. i called Apria who said it was being reviewed. I called again on 11/22 and they had to 'find' the replacemant prescription. it was found and they said they would get this to the department that handled the distribution. still no delivery. Called again 12/4 and was told it had to be special ordered since no one uses my 2 yo c-pap machine. but that it would be expedited. Called again 12/12 only to be told it was shipped on 12/11 but there was no tracking number. they then told me they would call the local branch office to see what happened. she would try to get the delivery on today's schedule to be delivered on thursday. Not holding my breath. read more
