After having open heart surgery, I came home from the hospital dependent on additional oxygen. Arrangements were made with Apria to delivery that same day the essential equipment needed so the oxygen delivery to me would not be interrupted. When the delivery was not received as promised, numerous additional phone calls were made to Apria and each time delivery has promised to arrive shortly. THE DELIVERY WAS NEVER MADE THAT DAY OR NIGHT!!! I would imagine that patients have been seriously injured or have died due to Apria's incompetence and complete lack of care. read more

I wish I could review Apria with a solid review but I just can't. I still have not received my order after almost 2 months as they sent it to the wrong location 3 times and billed me for the incorrect supplies. It's been a nightmare having to call every week or two just to once again correct the address. Hopefully the charges I owe are dropped because I clearly did not order them. I am told my current supplies are being delivered today but I will not hold my breath. It's wild to wait all of December and now well into January with zero form of compensation for a $32 order. Made an appointment at their office for a headgear fitting for CPAP after my equipment type was discontinued. Drove 15 miles, arrived on time, and sat for 45 minutes, at the end of which the front receptionist said she thought the person to do the fitting had left for lunch. I left. This was after this hapless office had sent a new mask but no headgear to hold it in place. I later receive a call from someone who was quite brusque, suggesting I use a full-face mask. (I use a nasal pillow, have been using it for over 30 years.) Fortunately, my insurance allows me to switch to another company. Doing that right now. Apria sucks! Their billing processes/practices are shady, and not client-friendly at all. I have been making payments to get my account balance to $0, but unfortunately my payments haven't been going to past due amounts, but instead to current balance? I just had a rep from billing tell me that once past due amounts hit 9 months, then the past due amount goes to collections. I just got a collections notice in the mail from April 2024, and was just informed another one is being sent out this month for a different amount. What?! Of course my monthly statements don't contain this information, nor is there any disclosures saying my payments don't apply to past due amounts. And the statements are confusing as hell because of the back-and-forth charges and credits between Apria and Kaiser that are usually a month behind. And on top of all of this, I have to worry every time I make a CPAP order, hoping that I get the supplies I actually ordered. What a s$#t show! read more

Believe the negative reviews you see here. I have Kaiser Permanente. This is my third healthcare plan with them (I had one with my last employer, one while I was briefly unemployed and now my plan with my current employer). I've seen negative reviews about Kaiser but have only had good experiences with them. Their choice to use Apria Healthcare for their durable medical device provider, however, unfortunately reflects negatively on them. Apria is a nightmare to work with, plain and simple. When I was unemployed in late 2020, Kaiser directed me to contact Apria to purchase my device. They bounced me back and forth between their own departments so much that my frustration led to me just opting to purchase my device on my own without any financial assistance from Kaiser. I'm now happily employed and, again, extremely happy with my Kaiser plan, their services and their providers. I now wish to purchase a travel CPAP and intend to use my coverage to do so. The Apria reps are frankly clueless. They tell me to call a specific Apria number for Kaiser-Permanente members; it's the same number. Then when someone answers, they tell me to call another number which has all the same menu prompts and leads me to equally clueless customer service representatives. To be clear, all have been friendly and I'm sure generally competent customer service providers in general. My assumption is that their relationship with Kaiser is not made clear to them and they do not understand how to field calls specific to Kaiser Permanente members. Whether the fault lies wholly with Apria or partially with Kaiser is unclear. Regardless, I can't recommend enough that you avoid this headache of a company if you are able or, in the very least pray for patience, meditate to get yourself in the most Zen state possible, or purchase some medical grade (hopefully-legal-where-you-reside-) , erm, herbal supplements to prepare you for being juggled by people who either have no desire to help you or have not been trained appropriately to do so. Now they're sending another letter asking for payment, when 1. It was originally paid outside of insurance because they couldn't figure it out, and 2. The customer service here is non existent and over four months we have yet been able to talk to anyone competent enough to resolve our situation. We had oxygen tanks for our newborn baby and the tanks and all equipment were picked up from our house by Apria. They did not keep records of themselves picking up their equipment and have continued to charge us for four months for equipment we do not have anymore. They have sent in a claim to collections over this and now we have to deal with collections and our credit being effected due to Apria's lack of organization and incompetency. Apria healthcare has the worst billing department of any company I have ever done business with. This company billed me for equipment that they provided and the bill was due on the 16th of the month. I received a call about 4 days prior to the bill due date claiming the account was delinquent. Which obviously it was not. I refused to arrange payment with the lying representative. Later that same day I used their automated phone service and paid the bill in full using a debit card. The pending charge immediately showed up on my account and the funds were paid to Apria two days later. Since then I have received 3 harassing phone calls claiming that they never received the funds. I have called their billing dept many times and elevated to the highest manager who will speak to me. At one point a supervisor said that the payment was mistakenly applied to my wife's account and that she would correct the mistake. 30 days later and I just received another bill. I have worked in a PCP office for many years and had nothing but awful service from Apria Healthcare. I feel for those who have to get their supplies from here. Im not the type to write a review unless I personally experienced the bad service. However I did get awful service recently. I had an order put in and we sent to to a different company and somehow it ended up at Apria. I get a call from my parents saying that Apria is trying to deliver something. Not once had I been contacted by Apria to confirm my address,or go over my benefits. I told my parents not to accept delivery. I then called my insurance to file fraudulent claim against Apria as they didn't even bother to contact me. Honestly if you are able to use a different company do so. I don't have a choice, Apria is the contracted provider for my insurance. They were contacted two hours before I was released from the hospital and I called as soon as I was home, as instructed. The CR rep said it had been marked as urgent and delivery should take place within four hours of that. Here we are, five hours since they were first contacted, with no updates and no oxygen and of course they are closed at 7:30 PM. I will be okay, but I was prescribed oxygen for a reason, and I'd hate to think this is how they treat something marked urgent. read more

I am currently on hold with Apria going in to hour 3 of this call. All I need to know is what my father's oxygen is going to cost. I've been transferred all over the place. Each time I am transferred I have to enter my zip code and I get a message that it's invalid. Then I'm put on hold for another 30-45 minutes. When I do get a live human they can't tell me what the oxygen will cost. Why not? I thought they might know the cost of the products they sell but apparently not. read more

I paid for a PAP Machine. Found out I needed an added humidity part. Had prescription sent there. Told them couldn't buy it til payday. Well they threatened me to be turned over to a collection service. I got paid and paid for the part like $ 9.00 or so. Been a couple of months and NO PRODUCT SENT. Can't use machine without out which causes my red blood cells to get high. I have polycythemia and too many red blood cells can cause blood clots. Called billing department. He was RUDE and Wouldn't listen. Told them get machine and want my $ 50+ back. Also I'm wanting to and will take them to court and add mental distress to the amount I'm suing them for. My update four years apart from my original review. Apria's customer service, give the medical needs of customers, is so sincerely, morbidly bad, there is not even an expectation of improvement of Apria getting better--ever. In the past five years Apria has checked my oxygen equipment twice. They simply will not come out. Apria attempted to bill me when the bills should have went to the insurance company and despite speaking to Apria over a dozen times, and my insurance stating they would pay but Apria never sent them any bills, Apria demanded that I should pay. Apria's Customer Service is awful! I called about a charge on two different credit cards that appeared to be the same; double billing. The connection was so bad I could hardly hear or understand what the person was saying. Asking him numerous times to repeat what he was saying. It sounded like he was on a speaker phone, in a tunnel. I was transferred two times only to be told to go online, the system was down. I went online and it told me that my password was wrong. I changed the password and I now will be getting my statements by email! I did not ask for this!!!!!!!!! I want help with the double billing. I tried going back into my account and now my new password doesn't work! My frustration level is out of sight. Is there anyone that I can "talk" with that can help with a simple question? If I could give a negative rating I definitely would. Expect the billing department to NOT do their one and only job they have. NOT get Medicare and a secondary billing right. I have been fighting with the billing for over 18 months over 210.00. It is the principle, I have had Medicare on the phone with them and they supposedly escalated it to a higher billing department. However, no one did their job. I spoke with Medicare several times and they did not understand why Apria was not billing them correctly. Even after my doctor sent several times via fax the information Apria said they needed. NOPE. Sent me to their State Collections agency. So mad, so disappointed this is a company I worked for as a Respiratory therapist for years, yet they say, my 70% O2 saturations and needing 8 1/2 liters of oxygen did not qualify after thoracic surgery and being in ICU for 3 days. They came to the hospital, they set me up at home and had to even bring a special concentrator to deliver that high flow. So today, I am calling the attorneys general office for a Medicare/ Collections scam. Very upset with them....avoid using if possible. read more

They did not bother to verify my ins. before sending. So they billed me. I fought them for 5 months but got nowhere. They said they'd verified thru regency which I've never had. After a major surgery in November my doctors office ordered a hospital bed to use for a month and unfortunately they contract with Apria. I desperately needed the bed so I begrudgingly agreed not knowing that my experience would be a complete nightmare once again. There were problems with the delivery and the pickup. The first delivery driver was rude and did not want to wear booties and the pickup driver was literally filthy from head to toe and he did not bring booties with him and he left a bed rail behind. The pickup driver gave me papers to sign and he took the bed away. On the 23rd of November I received a letter from Apria accusing me of keeping their bed, despite the fact that it was picked up on the 14th of December. I called Apria to address my concerns and asked for a manager. they kept me on the phone for 45 minutes and all I got was customer service and a customer service supervisor who said she would refer me to a manager from the delivery department. Needless to say I never received a call back. After receiving the letter that accused me of keeping the bed I was livid. I made several calls which wound up to be dead ends and hold times were very long. The people I spoke to were not helpful and did not know what was going on. The first employee at least gave me a verbal agreement that the bed was returned but nothing was offered in writing. I do have paperwork that I signed for the bed when it was picked up. I forgot to mention that the driver that came to pick up the bed was 3 hours early out of the pickup time which caused additional problems. I have a past history of other issues with Apria. In February of this year my doctor's office ordered crutches for me and Apria delivered them to the wrong address and I ended up having to get the crutches directly from my doctor's office. Apria aggressively billed eeme for the crutches and called me Non-Stop and sent bills to my business even though they didn't deliver the crutches to me. The crutches were very inexpensive but they were very aggressive about getting paid for these. I had another health issue in the past and had to use them as well and they failed me then and there wete constant problems. Please note that there are just numerous negative reviews about Apria yet Apria has it in tight with the insurance companies so they'll continue to contract with them. Apria does not treat customers or patients appropriately. Apria also refers to their customers as patients although we are not their patients we are actually their customers. they are never concerned about customer care or customer service and they have a long long history of problems. I will no longer use them under any circumstances and will pay out of pocket to get any supplies from another source. I'm thinking Apria really has no competition in this market and that's what's created this problem. read more

I have spent hours on the phone trying to confirm orders. The customer service is atrocious. They do not call when they say they will call. One time different drivers came to my house 5 times in one day because they kept bringing the wrong equipment. I have had to escalate to a supervisor every single time I've dealt with this company. Right now, I've been contacting them for 4 days in a row just to get equipment picked up. THIS COMPANY IS A NIGHTMARE! Apria sucks - we have on a multitude of occasions received equipment that flat out didn't work or was malfunctioning in a variety of ways. Each time we've tried to contact Apria to correct the issue it results in a long game of telephone being passed through many departments that CLEARLY do not communicate (how many times do I have to tell someone on the same phone call who I'm calling on behalf of, their address, DOB, spelling of the last name and who I am in relation?) - ultimately ending up with someone telling me that we're scheduled to have a delivery of new equipment or refilled equipment later that day or the next morning, which DOESN'T HAPPEN. When I call to check on the delivery status the new person I'm talking to doesn't even have a record of the supposed scheduled delivery. After calling to inform Apria that my 89-yr-old COPD mother with congestive heart failure was released to return to her own apartment after recovering from a hospital stay in my home, Apria supposedly ordered a transfer of her oxygen paraphernalia. She returned to her home at 11 am but Apria said they would not transfer until 5:15-9:15 PM--very late for an elderly person who needed oxygen. THEY NEVER SHOWED UP! No one called. The phone number on the tanks said the office was closed when I called at 9:30 pm to inform them no one showed up. We were told they are open 24/7. Not true. This morning after 24 hours without oxygen I battled for 15 minutes to wade through the morass of Apria's phone answering system. Finally reached a real person who could not understand how to spell my mother's first name. . .Ruth. Then she put me on hold "until a Kaiser rep could join the call," and promptly DISCONNECTED ME. I called back. When I finally got another real person, she found (after several more rounds of being on hold) that the technician that took the transfer order yesterday SENT IT TO THE WRONG BRANCH OF APRIA. The mistake was discovered this morning, but again NO ONE REACHED OUT. They have promised delivery by 2:00 pm today but then the woman on the phone was unable to hear me. AFTER ATTEMPTS TO COMMUNICATE WITH HER I HUNG UP. SHE WAS UNABLE TO REACH THE BRANCH FOR AN EARLIER DELIVERY BECAUSE "NO ONE THERE IS ANSWERING THEIR PHONE, SO I SENT AN EMAIL." This company is a complete scam. I don't say that lightly because I have never said those words about any other company. I accepted a breast pump from Kaiser in November of 2018, the pump was returned three months later in February of 2019. They continued to send me bills following the return of their equipment. I kept calling them and each time they agreed to fix their error. It has been almost a year of them harassing me for money that I don't owe them. Now it's to the point that they just sent it to collections and I am dealing with that. I have perfect credit and have never missed a payment on anything. If they attempt to ruin that or force me to make a payment on something I don't owe, I will be taking them to court! I will never be duped by this company again. One department it is worse than the other the oxygen delivery department can't seem to deliver oxygen when the person is at home . The drivers don't arrive within the timeframe issued they do not call if you're not at home leave messages to try to get things rescheduled it's like they have their own agenda and the patient some people don't matter. How in the world has a company like Appia grown to be so large and consume so much of this industry but have such poor customer service. This is the worst healthcare company I have ever experienced by a wide margin. They delivered oxygen equipment to me following surgery. It stopped working within three days. After waiting several days (fortunately I could survive without oxygen), they replaced it. That equipment worked for a few days more. I then began trying to get them to pick up the non-working equipment. That took two months--for which they charged me for the non-working equipment--and they only picked it up when I threatened to begin charging a storage charge. Then it really went down hill when they repeatedly claimed they hadn't picked up the equipment and even called multiple times to schedule the delivery of equipment I had never requested. Initially, I was thrilled to be working with Apria and to start on CPAP. THE RT showed me how to use the machine and made a recommendation for a nasal pillow. I didn't really know much about CPAP and the different masks so I didn't know what questions to ask. But the RT should have known to ask if I was a mouth breather. A week into it, I realized I needed a different type of mask. I made an appointment and when I tried to change it, the rep said I wasn't on the schedule and they don't make appointments on Mondays. I ended up going anyway and sure enough was on the schedule. So that was my first encounter with customer service and it's been downhill ever since. Just trying to get through to the proper departments takes a long time. Another issue, I asked my doctor to write an order for a lower max pressure. She did that and faxed it. On Monday I received a call that a RT will be calling that day and to stay near my phone. It's now Friday, and nothing. I could keep writing, but I'll stop here f June 27 Update So Apria, you responded to this review and suggested I email customer relations, which I did - 3 times!!!
