This is by far the WORST company in regards to billing I've ever experienced. Mind you, I was a medical biller for close to 40 years. They couldn't get a statement correct if they tried. I've sent back bills showing payments & they STILL don't correct it. They posted incorrect payments from the insurance company on a routine basis. They sent us a bill that we know our secondary payor will pay automatically & when I called them they stated "how can that be when we haven't billed them" - they didn't believe me when I tried to explain Medicare sends the secondary payor the claim automatically. He responded as if I was talking black magic. Having to had to deal with this horrid company for 2 years I'm SHOCKED they are still in business. Customer service personnel are the rudest & most condescending people I've ever dealt with. They truly don't know what the frickity frack their doing!! read more

Update: Casey from the Apria Customer Care Team worked with Apria of Hagerstown to resolve the concern below. I'm sad to write this review. We've spent hours on the phone with Apria in Hagerstown to try to come up with a solution before writing it. Our son has tiny lungs due to a congenital birth defect. We relocated to a specialty hospital in Florida to give him his best chance. He spent 55 days in NICU, and during that time, we met our max annual out of pocket for insurance. All of his medical bills are now covered at 100% of the negotiated rate. The hospital in Florida helped us get set up with Apria, since they could provide home oxygen in both Florida and Virginia. The Tampa Apria branch was great - they got us set up with everything we needed to get back to Virginia and billed our insurance without any trouble. When we arrived in Virginia, the oxygen supplies were waiting on our porch. Everything went smoothly until our local pediatrician prescribed a pulse oximeter. Apria took a couple of weeks to make sure it was approved through insurance, which was fine with us because it wasn't an immediate need. When it was delivered to our house, my husband was asked to provide a credit card to "secure their assets," which he did. Apria of Hagerstown charged our credit card $45 for the pulse oximeter copay prior to billing our insurance company. We never received a bill or any warning that it would be withdrawn from our account. We called the Apria billing department and explained that we'd met our max out of pocket for the year. We requested that our card be removed from their files and asked that we receive a bill before any charges going forward. The billing department was polite and accommodated our request. We then started receiving calls and even an unannounced in-person visit from the Apria Hagerstown branch, telling us we needed to provide a credit card "per company policy" or they would be taking our son's oxygen equipment. Each time, I explained that we would not be providing a card because we'd met our max out of pocket for the year and couldn't afford to be charged whatever amount they decided without any notice. The branch employees said they understood our concerns, but they still needed a credit card or they'd be coming to pick up the equipment. We asked for their policy in writing, which they said they did not have and could not provide. We have not received a bill from Apria or been refunded the $45 they withdrew from our account to date. After reading the reviews on Google and Yelp, we know that we are not alone in being billed improperly by Apria of Hagerstown. We're connected with CDH families across the country, who have not been required to provide a credit card for service, so we know it is not a "company policy to secure their assets." Unfortunately, the other home oxygen companies in our area have similar reviews. Our son has what he needs, and we do not want to set up new service with a different company that has equally poor customer service. We've been told that it is our only option, and Apria of Hagerstown cannot make any exceptions to this unwritten policy. At the end of the day, $45 and having to come up with a different plan for our son's home oxygen are not going to break our family. This review is for vulnerable patient populations (small children and older adults who most often need home oxygen) who have been hurt by Apria. For example, an older adult on a fixed income can't afford to have unannounced charges to their bank account without any notice. We hope that Apria of Hagerstown will reconsider their policy of charging their patient's credit cards any amount they decide without any notice. read more

Called this company because my insurance company said its in my network....just wanted to get a new C=pap mask shipped to me....they hassled me ....said I had to have a prescription to get a mask....call my Dr. and they faxed a prescription over.....so called back over after I got word my prescription was called in to order my mask....mind you weeks have passed as all this transpired....they have no record of my prescription and I need to get my Dr, to reissue another.....what a hassle. read more

If I could give it a zero star , I would.. every single time I deal with them it never goes smoothly. first time I used them, I was at home waiting for a portable oxygen to be delivered at a promised time so my wife can take me to the hospital, they did not come nowhere near the time promised so I had to take the ambulance so they can give me oxygen and take me to the hospital.. SECOND TIME was when I was leaving, after a couple weeks at the hospital, I was eager to go home but I still needed an oxygen tank, so Apria was suppose to deliver to the hospital. My release time was at 3pm, but after it being delayed 4 times due to them first typing my information wrong, than finally the delivery guy calls me saying he is here... delivery guy was at the WRONG hospital !!! Ended up leaving next morning when it finally arrived. And now im calling The 1800 #, and I get disconnect 3 times before Im finally able to speak to someone, in witch Im getting transfer Rep, to rep to rep to rep.. This is sad!! Providing oxygen to some ppl could be a life and death situation and knowing that a pizza delivery is more punctual and reliable than these guys, suxs. read more

They deserve their one-star rating. So I was in the hospital for a week with bilateral pneumonia due to Covid. I had issues with my blood saturation staying high enough when I would get up and down. So as a condition of release, they required that I have home oxygen available. The hospital ordered it on Friday. I was told I would go home Sunday as long as the oxygen had arrived. So all day Sunday, I wait. Finally the representative from the company brought the equipment to my husband. He arrived and was talking on a "personal" call the entire 1-1/2 minutes he was there. He told whoever he was talking to, "hold on," and then told my husband -- blah, blah, blah and left. There was very little instruction or information given. So we finally get home and try figure it out. And, yes, there were more problems. The 2 tanks they sent were almost empty. The car charger they sent worked. BUT the wall charger did not even fit the machine. My husband called to get it replaced, left a message, and never heard back from the. W verified that it was the WRONG charger with the guy who picked it up, and he just shook his head and said how sorry he was. Now we're waiting to see how much this "service" cost us. We requested we not have to pay for it. But you know they're going to charge the issuance because they can! read more

Awful company. Our insurance company provided my wife a breast pump when our son was born. We've been trying to return it for 9 months. We call one number & they say we have to call another. They refer us back to the first number or say the system is down... Just caught that they've been charging my credit card when the insurance company is already paying them. Now they'll be dealing with the bank's fraud department. read more
