They signed my husband up for their service without him realizing. When we called half an hour after the sales rep left to have them remove us from their system and schedule they seemed helpful and made sure they had no payment method for us and said we were deleted from the system. Their workers still showed up to do "scheduled" services 4 times. Each time we caught them as they parked and explained the situation and turned them away. Now we have received a bill in the mail from a collection agency for services that obviously were not wanted and never happened. We have all of these interactions on security footage so disputing it won't be an issue, however this is a lot of annoyance to have to go through just because your husband was nice to a salesperson and didn't immediately turn him away. read more

Terrible experience with this company. Salesman stated they could get rid of gypsy moths, however, we found out that they do not spray the eggs sacks in the trees. My service was today and they charged me the FULL amount. I called to see when I'd get the refund as I don't have the full amount in my bank. An Aptive rep pounded on my door. Hard enough to make it sound like it was the police who needed to get in. When I opened the door this kid could not have been older than 20 years old. He told me about his service, and then stated that "John" next door on my left had just bought the service, and that Susan on my right did too. What he didn't know is that there is no John on my left and there is no Susan on my right. The house on the right had been abandoned for years. I called him out on this. He still pushed the sale as if he didn't even hear me. I told him no. Told him that I don't have money for him. He tried to give me a discount and then I told him I don't have money for that either. Dropped the price down further and I told him that unless he is going to do the service for free and charge me a monthly service that equated to exactly 0 dollars a month with a 0 dollar cancelation fee I would not be interested. He then told me a sob story about how he was forced to walk 30 miles by this company going door to door and if I didn't sign to at least get the service, he wouldn't get the scooter to ride and he would have to keep walking those miles. He even offered to pay for it himself if I would sign the contract and I can cancel within the first three days if I truly don't want to do it. I was leaving my house to run errands when I noticed a guy in my rear view mirror riding a Segway down the middle of the road while reading a iPad. I remarked to myself how careless and dangerous that was. Lo and behold, when I came back from running errands the same Segway guy knocked on my door, and he is a salesman for Aptive. He immediately launched into a rapid-fire, high velocity sales pitch about how good his company is, how they have been featured in a number of magazines, etc... He asked me about my current pest control provider, and what areas they treat, etc.. etc.. etc.. He made claims about how many of my immediate neighbors have already just switched over to his company, which I highly doubt to be true. He also said he has two technicians in a truck that are just sitting, waiting to service my house. I told him that my current company had literally been here two days ago to treat for pests, and that I am literally fine. After badgering me for about 5 minutes, he asked me if my current pest control provider treats around my garage. I told him, Sorry, I am truly not interested. Then he says oh that's ok, we don't have to treat your garage. I said, no I am not interested in the entire thing, I don't want a new pest control provider and I am in the middle of something, please leave. After I said that he got really weird and rudely told me, "Wow, even though our service is cheaper and better, you still wouldn't want to go for it...ok fine!" and gave me this nasty look, then jumped back on his Segway and rolled off. He also lowered his total price three times while we were talking. Super flexible pricing is always really suspicious to me. After reading reviews on here I am really glad I was firm with him and didn't get locked into some ridiculous contract, cancellation fees, etc.. This company seems extremely sketchy based on their high-pressure tactics. This company lies and does not honor their promises to the customer. i did not want to use their services but after the salesman said we get a discount per our homeowners association and we could cancel anytime so i agreed and signed the paperwork that was emailed to me. after 3 treatments and a return treatment i did not like the product and i was constantly having wasps and bugs in the house. i contacted them and said i would like to cancel with them and told them why. well i got cancelled but also got a cancellation fee bill of $199. i called and said i should not have to pay this because the salesman said i can cancel anytime without any percussions. plus i was not satisfied with their product and they still say i owe this. I've had similar services at my home for more than 20 years, Aptive Environmental Services convinced me they were the best in the business so, I switched, it has been a horrible experience. The initial treatment was good, the 2nd they went to the wrong home but still charged me. It took me several hours to get that resolved, the 3rd visit they came to my home after dark was there for 15 minutes and charged me $199.00, not sure what they did in the dark. Then when I called to cancel the service, they charged me an additional $199.00 and classified it as a discount they provided on the initial treatment. They also offered me a $20.00 discount on the next four services, I explained I didn't ask for a discount, I just wanted them to do what they said they would do. He told us that since he was in the neighborhood working with our neighbors he could offer us the low rate of $99.00 versus the $399.00 rate if we contacted the Tukwila Office directly. He did not have a business card but was wearing a blue golf shirt that had Aprive on it. we to,d him we were not interested. I contacted my neighbor, whose name the salesman mentioned, and she said she was NOT working with Aptive and she had received the same information of other names that Aptive is working with. Terrible experience with Aptive. Man named Rory came by our house - my wife was trying to leave to go get our kids from school and Rory wouldn't take a hint that she needed to go. My wife - very uncomfortable at this point - goes and gets me as a way to get out of the conversation. Rory doesn't even ask if "I" want to talk pest control, just launches into his aggressive pressure sales tactic. At this point I'm not interested, but he won't leave. Told him we have a company we work with (we do, Parker Eco Pest) but he kept pressuring and pushing to us sign up. Says we can save money, says everyone uses them, so I tell him give me some pamphlet or leave behind so I can do my own research and he basically snubs me saying "why do you need to do research? I have it all here on my ipad". Dude, take a ***king hint. Maybe Aptive is good at what they do, but this Rory guy completely ruined whatever chances he had at closing a sale. I have had nothing but good experiences with Aptive. I did notice a lot of emails, and that's about it. I can see that It can be inconvenience for people without a disposable income. That seems to be the gripe for most people, that and their sales tactics which seems to work. At any rate, the bugs around my house are minimal to none, and it's always easy to schedules free treatment service between quarterly services. They sent door salesmen to my street and my wife took them up on their services as we do have a mouse in attic and had planned on calling someone after the 4th. She normally wouldn't take door soliciting but the sales guy mentioned they had worked for my nextdoor neighbor recently for his rat problem. I smelled sometbing fishy and reached put to my neighbor whose one of my best friends. And sure enough they never hired them. He hit their house before ours and tried to socially engineer us into hiring them. It's interesting because I had one of these reps show up at my door today with exactly the same spiel others are warning about. On the little one-wheel scooter. Maybe it's because they come in quietly. What alarmed me was the picture shared by Michael D. from Florida. This is the very same man who was on my doorstep in northwest Washington state today, except his name wasn't Matt. It's now Canon. I immediately canceled the service as other issues had come up. I also have cancelled my Credit Card before it had a chance to be charged. I was pressured to let their workers come out on Monday, because "they were excited and all set to come to my property and work for me". I had to repeat "No" several times before hanging up. Because of other things going on with me, I was in no mood for the high pressure tactics I was going through. It wasn't easy, but the call finally ended. I said "maybe in a year, but not now." But after this short experience, I will not be using this company in 1 year, 5 years or ever. Even so, "Canon/Matt" or whoever this person is, he repeated he would be back on May 4th 2025 "as I asked". I said "maybe", but I will be reporting him if he starts harassing. Update: Yep...just as others said. Though I called "Canon/Matt" or whatever name he's currently using, and told him to cancel my appt. and agreement , he was unhappy and told me I had to do it. I used the link he had sent to me but nobody answers, so I tried the email route through Google but it led nowhere except circles and never to Aptive. In short, there's no way to cancel. So they showed up to my gate Monday morning---a whole caravan of trucks and vans who, the woman said, were there to be trained. I declined to open the gate and they had to leave. The gate just paid for itself. Check out this company. There are lawsuits and complaints all over the place. They aren't registered in Washington state; They've been banned in Pennsylvania from doing business at all, where they were sued in 2019, broke the agreement in 2022 resulting in the ban by the State Attorney General. In California they were sued for illegally recording conversations on their 1-800 number, without telling the customers they were doing so; and the list goes on, They aren't characterized as a scam---but it sure feels like they are. Quality customer service. Their door to door salesman are professional and knowledgeable. They set the right expectation for their customers and the technicians do a fantastic job too. Their communication is outstanding, and their treatment is the best service out there. I had my whole yard treated for the ants, that way I can enjoy my yard and they aren't getting inside my home. This time when Aptive came, I was able to get same-day service, because of the supervisor Shawna Beaner's tenacity. Shescheduled Le'Darrius to come out very quickly, which he was willing to do as his last service call on the way home from a long day. Le'Darrius was really great. He heard my specific requests and addressed them thoroughly. He knew that I had already had two treatments (fleas are very hard to get rid of) and so he mixed an extra chemical in to make sure and kill their army! Darius was very polite and he left my place clean. He had a "can do" attitude and was great to work with. Aptive is lucky to have him as a represent them as a technician. read more

I have called three months in a row to cancel yet they still text me saying they are coming each month. Horrible way to trap customers and not good for retention. For the record we sold our home, we don't live there anymore. we are in a rental apt and don't need service. Seems like a legitimate reason to cancel. Their customer service people are horrible. Be sure to send everything in writing because a phone call doesn't solve the problem. They just don't tell you this.
