FRAUDULENT SCAM OF A COMPANY!!! DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES SIGN AN AGREEMENT WITH THEM. So I moved into a rental last August and there were either carpet beetles already there or some new furniture that came with carpet beetles brought them. I called Insight Pest Control and they said they were experts at treating them, but because they were so difficult to treat that I needed to sign a year long agreement. They showed up, sprayed, and it did absolutely nothing. They were supposed to return every two weeks until hey were gone but did not (didn't show up for another 3 months). So I then went online, figured out a more effective way to treat (steam everything with hot water + used a powdered substance all over the area that was recommended), and that got rid of them permanently. They have done two other quarterly services where they spent less than 5 minutes on the property. And yet I have paid $87/month for this scam of a service. We just moved out of the rental and were told that we would be given more than a $500 cancellation fee or would have to pay for the remaining months on our contract. I think all the pest control companies are a scam (they spend very, very little time on site with only a quarterly visit compared to what they charge you), but this company is especially bad because they don't show up when there is an actual problem. And they won't even cancel when you move? Our other pest control company allowed you to cancel upon moving but these folks want their money no matter what, despite not actually doing the job they were hired to do. read more

We tried insight pest solutions and were not really satisfied with the service we were getting. We decided to switch, but we were in year long contract. My wife called and they made a note to cancel the service but we would still have to pay for May, which we did. We were billed in June, my wife called to get a refund and they told her that was not possible since she didn't call back in June to cancel. She asked them to check their notes and they had a note saying that we would like to cancel and to stop service, but because we didn't call again it was not officially canceled. So they didn't give any service for May or June because they knew we were canceling, but still billed us. Very disappointed and will never recommend them. read more

I initially switched over from a big name pest solutions place to these guys because the salesperson told me it was a small business that his buddy started. I didn't look into that, but I was unhappy with my current pest place so I switched over. Initially the service was fine, got rid of the ants and other bugs. But over time the communication started lacking. My actual technician was great and always did a good job, but scheduling was a nightmare and there always was a lag between when I'd call and when they would come. Eventually I got tired of the guessing game, so I switched to another site. I called to cancel and the lady said "I wish you would've called in your complaints so we could've handled it." ummm, I'm sorry... so you'll only perform well if people complain? That's not a great business practice. She also informed me that my year contract wasn't up and if I canceled then I'd be hit with a $500 fee. Mind you I had two months left in this "contract." Also the salesman never said anything about contracts or fees. So I told her I'd pay for the last two months, but I wanted my account closed in June after my year was up. She said she made a note in the account to cancel at that time. Fast forward to July, I get charged the monthly service fee AGAIN. So I call and say it needs to be canceled and I receive a voicemail that says "oh we're sorry for the trouble, we see here it says you called in April and wanted your account closed, so we've closed your account." Nothing about a refund for July. So I call them back and apparently in the account notes it says that it was my responsibility to call and cancel in June...even though in the notes it said I wanted it cancelled. So they automatically switched me from my year contract to a month to month payment...even though I explicitly told them I did not want service after June. It makes no sense. They charged me yesterday, I called today for a refund and they said they can't refund me because I'm passed the 30 day refund window. Even though I didn't know they kept my account open UNTIL THEY BILLED ME. BECAUSE I THOUGHT THEY CANCELLED IT ALREADY. Such shady business practices. Look elsewhere for service, this company is terrible and they don't care if they scam you out of your hard earned money as long as they get paid. read more

The initial service was great, just needed to make sure carpenter ants weren't coming to stay and ruin our house and also spray for wasps but the actual value is not. I had to pay $450 up front, then they charge you $87 a month AND you have to guarentee that you will keep them for a year. So about $1600 for them to come once every 3 months, and they don't show up on time. Who knows if they'll actually show up. I really only have pest issues during the summer so, although I knew what I signed, I was desperate to make sure the ants weren't messing up our house. Oh yeah. And if I wanna cancel due to their LACK of service it's $200 just to cancel. Make sure you have a real issue I guess. read more

Door salesman came to sell the service to my neighborhood and offered a "deal" for quarterly service and said I could cancel at anytime but to sign up now while there was still a spot. What they did not tell me was that there would be a $200 closing cost for canceling. The service was okay. the specialist was super nice and professional but all they do is lay ant traps and spray their pesticides. I can do that myself. Only reason I signed up was because we were having a bad ant and hornet problem with all the rain. it was the worst we've seen it in the years we have lived here so thought the timing was right to try. I was planning to cancel after first service but then found out about closing cost. Not happy. We just had a baby and my wife is not working so we cant afford to pay either the closing cost or the service and they said there is nothing they can do. read more

The first interactions with this company were super positive... but it was all downhill from there. When they first came to the door they convinced us to change pest ppl. When they first guy came by he was later than our time range was but he was super apologetic and very through with treatment. He must have spent an hour walking around the house and garage a few times to spray and treat and put traps. He even offered to treat anything inside but we declined at the time thinking we would get it later. The next person that came was... ok. She was polite and we mentioned a hornet nest that was forming. From what I heard, they were treating it and would check back in a week..... but they didn't. 2 weeks later and the hornet nest was worse. 1 week after than and it was now a safety issue that bf called them twice over a weekend and when no one answered he dealt with it himself. When the person came back a week or so after it had been dealt with they were apologetic about it still being an issue but then basically did nothing. From the time they opened the door to the time they left was less than 10 minutes (we have it on camera). They walked around the house half assed spraying as they went to check on the 3 traps around the house and then left. When called to cancel the service the staff back tracked on dealing with it and the previous offered of free treatment if they didn't fix an issue/ coming back to deal with it stating that they were not allowed to come back in less a months time for some legal reasons.. which is very not what they sold us on. He asked if I had any concerns, answered all of my questions, and was very thorough when treating the house (more thoroughly than Orkin for sure). He was clearly very knowledgeable about pests. After he had finished I remembered some mesh that may have a hole in it and could be letting critters in, and told them I'd remind them next quarter they come out. Spencer immediately insisted he take care of it right then and there. This is the first time I have had this company treat our house, so honestly I am not sure how effective the services are long term (already more thorough and cheaper than Orkin), but if it is anything like the caliber of customer service I received from Spencer, I will not be having pest problems again! I hope to update this review in a couple of months to talk about the longevity of the service I received today. But from what I saw, I am pretty convinced that I won't be disappointed! read more

I signed a contract for quarterly pest control service in SW Portland. At that time, I requested a hardcopy of the contract, but one was not mailed to me. And now I the email link to the contract has expired. It cost $350.00 to set up the first inspection and treatment and since then, I understand, not much more pest work has been required. They decided to spray for ants when ants were not a problem. When I asked for a hardcopy of the contract again today, I was sent a text message indicating the contract had been sent by email again. When I responded to the text message, I receive an auto-generated response that did not respond to anything in my text message -- twice! It was my understanding that I would be billed once a quarter for needed pest services. BUT Insight shows up monthly and charges monthly for whatever services are needed *or* charges the full amount for NO service at all. I have repeatedly asked for the technician to call me when he/she is at my home to tell me if monthly service is needed, but the technicians never call me. I must call the office, which is always a hassle, to find out what happened (if anything and the answer is generally no new test activity). But I am billed each month whether service is needed or not. I am now paying a total of $720.00 (for the year) for monthly service when I expected to pay $240.00 for quarterly service UNLESS I called for monthly service. To be clear, I have not asked for anything beyond quarterly service but I am billed for monthly visits with no report as to what is needed. I notified them to stop automatic billing and we will see if they respond to my direction. When I called a Seattle district office number and asked to speak with the manager, I was informed that they are having a Christmas Party now (on Wednesday) and no manager would be able to call me until tomorrow (on Thursday). Do NOT hire this company in Portland, Oregon for any form of pest control services. The company is poorly managed, is unwilling to send relevant documentation in the mail, declines to have technicians speak with property owners after a service (particularly when they are unnecessary) when requested, and refuses to address important topics in a timely manner because Christmas parties are more important to them. When I told Tyree at the district office in Washington today that I intend to write a Yelp review detailing my experience with this company, he diminished my concerns and informed me that there is a 4.9 score with Google. Had service with them for a year. First red flag should have been that the friend that recommended Insight to me has an almost identical house and got a different price. So the price seems to be what the CS agent makes up rather than any standard. But my friend was happy with them and I decided to do it anyway. Started out fairly well. I was on a quarterly service interval and the first few services were good and thorough. The last two quarterly service appointments got progressively worse with lots of webs and bugs still remaining afterwards. It might be a coincidence but the last service after I had already canceled the contract was less than 5 minutes (as seen on a doorbell camera) which is definitely not enough time to do a good job of applying treatment and scrubbing the exterior and garage of a 2 story house for spiders and webs. But the worse part was that they had sent a tech to get a signature to close out the contract a month or two after the last service. The tech specifically told me I had 75 days from the signing of the contract termination to get a another service due to the service interval timing. He specifically recommended towards the end of August because its the end of the summer so thats what I put in my calendar. I called the third week of August and was told that the 75 days started from the last service and not the termination of the contract so the 75 days had passed. Then they tried to direct me to sales to restart the contract if I wanted to get the service that their own tech specifically recommended to me. I will never use them again and will not be recommending them to anyone in the future. read more

Very frustrated with this company. I called asking for a one-time service as I had a mouse problem I was looking to resolve. They sent out a technician. This technician only sprayed for spiders and didn't do anything about the mice. They eventually sent out another technician 3 weeks later to finally set out bait traps. The bait traps helped. A few weeks later, I received my bill in the mail. The bill was higher than what was initially communicated to me for the one-time service. I called and asked about my bill. They told me it's due to their monthly subscription fee. I never agreed to an annual commitment or monthly subscription. I never verbally agreed and never signed a contract. I agreed to a one-time service at a lower price point than what was billed. After arguing on the phone for 30 minutes and being told I was wrong, I had to pay an extra $50 to opt out of something I never opted into. read more

I was charged almost $6,000 for a job that they did and when it failed the technician informed me that he hadn't checked the previous work and we were charged for something that they didn't do. He then proceeded to tell me that he would make it right himself and finish the job. Fast forward 2 months and I receive a check in the mail from the company with no explanation other than they were audited and realized they owed me money. They would NOT take the hint and leave, asked personal questions, and of course said my neighbor was using them and they'd offer a huge discount. After five minutes he seemed to finally take my "no" and leave. Well, someone just showed up to the door saying I'd signed up for service. And they knew our last name, because anyone can find that on the property tax records. I never signed anything, and I sent them on their way. We signed a year contract for quarterly services but could call any time we needed treatments between visits, free of charge. Their customer service is exceptional. We have been clients for over a year now and have been very happy. Dayton is absolutely our favorite technician! BEWARE! DECEPTIVE PRICING PRACTICES!!! My husband and I had a man come to our door 'selling' pest control services. I had personally never heard of this particular business name for pest control. We told him we could not afford it because of living on Social Security. He continued lowering the price saying what if we could do it for this amount? He continued to lower the pricing. He then said he could do a one time offer of an annual contract for us of $99 for the year, with four services (quarterly). He said the way he could do it so inexpensively was because they would already be coming out to our neighborhood to do other services. He said his normal pricing was at $299. So for what we had explained to us as $99 for the year, taken in small payments monthly, we agreed. We were definitely led to believe the normal annual contract, at four visits was $299. WHAT HE DID NOT EXPLAIN WAS THAT THEY WOULD CHARGE US $99 (PLUS TAXES) ~EACH VISIT~ NOT $99 ANNUALLY! Which means they are trying to say that they normally would charge $299 for EACH visit! Outrageous! So be aware! I have had annual services with multiple other pest control services over the years, including Terminex, Sears, and others. They did not come only quarterly; they came monthly for about the same charge of what Insight is now trying to charge us for one quarterly (discounted, so they say) service visit. I've been an annual customer for several years, and I'm not sure what why other folks are having experiences that are less than stellar. Granted not everything will always be flawless, and when dealing with Pests its a practice not an exact science. Much of a customers success is going to be dependent on a strong customer-to-business relationship, and open communication with your technician. In my experience over two years, I've found that Insight Pest control has been outstanding in delivering their core services; and in resolving the occasional breakouts that have/will occur. On my property I have the Challenge Trifecta: Large Property, a variety of Pests, and a complex custom built home. Of course there it takes time for every new technician when they first service my property, but now we have a rhythm and groove. Our recent service treatments have proactively prevented the vast majority of problems. Add to this I've always gotten a great education from folks like Shawn. Shawn has been great at what he does, and has given great advice on controlling pests. Shawn's expertise helped me to understand the value of Mud Daubers as an actual valuable part of my properties ecosystem. Add to that he has extensive expertise with Honey Bees, which I intend to one day get. Shawn's made sure that I understood what I'm getting into, and also ensured that his team knows to keep on the lookout for the eventual hive placement. Year to year, Insight has been consistent. Where they have mis-stepped they have quickly recovered and they haven't made the same mistake twice. Their team of managers and trainers are clearly some of the best in the business. Their technicians are thorough. They are a trusted partner in helping to manage my property. If only I could find a lawn maintenance team as great as they are I would be over the moon. My recommendation is give insight a full year of your business, you can't assess a team like this in one quarter. You have to see how they respond, and improve over time. Perfection isn't what I'm looking for, I appreciate consistency and expertise over time. Insight has been definitively that. read more

Ok so I have used 3 different pest control services and absolutely do not recommend this one. I will say my initial interaction with Insight was during my son's birthday party to sell us on the service. The person (I believe was Nate) was very polite and came back a different day as we requested. First service with McKay was great. Everything after this point was COMPLETELY AWFUL. The next service was performed and the tech had NO IDEA what follow up needed to be done on our property. Had no notes to tell him he needed to notify us before service. This pattern kept up and no one followed up with inside of our home treatments until January 7th. On the 7th the technician didn't call myself or my husband, went into my home with just my teen home and then proceeded to complete the service on the interior. However, they used so much bait for our issue in food prep areas and where my dog could reach the bait. By the time my husband and I came home from work and saw everything we were absolutely angry. Before we realized anything my husband double checked the service and they threw away bug monitors in our trash can in the kitchen. Then there was so much bait that our dog ended up eating half of it and getting violently ill in the middle of the night. This stuff is supposed to be fairly nontoxic, but in the amount that was available for him to lick off the areas it was placed in his reach was very bad. Finally today they called trying to be apologetic and help us to cancel and get the full story of what happened. Honestly, spend the money on a good pest service is all I can say. read more

They come quarterly to maintain your bug-free environment and they will come in between visits if you need them to! All the technicians are all wonderful. Every single one of them that has come treat my home has been kind, courteous and very knowledgeable about bugs and how to get rid of them! At first, they were great! Every time we'd call, they'd answer immediately or call back promptly. For every appt scheduled, they'd show up earlier than the scheduled time, which was great that I didn't have to sit around waiting. However, after about a month of being signed up, we still had an issue. When we'd call, it was hard to get thru. After leaving messages, they wouldn't call back. Thankfully, one of the supervisors left his direct line so it was thru him we were able to get ahold of the office. Since then, the guys never show up at a scheduled time and the most recent time, the guy showed up 2.5hrs later than the scheduled time, we called to reschedule, but he went ahead and helped himself to the whole property anyway. Super irritated and disappointed with this service. They were rescheduled for first thing in the morning today, but bever showed up. Old review: Signed up with them about a month and a half ago. They've been out 3 times and all three times it's been different techs. However, they were all very professional. This last time it was a tech named Mike H. At the end of the trial they called to inform me they were coming out again. I called to cancel and was told we signed up for a year, which I know for a fact we did not. An agreement was sent to me with a signature that is not mine. After reading the agreement, it says I will be charged to cancel. This is absolutely illegal and this document they sent to me is going straight to the BBB and the states attorney Generals office. Great experience! It's way too soon to know if it was effective, but so far they've been great! Mitch came by doing his neighborhood sales rounds last week, he was super nice and knowledgeable, helpful and not pushy. He took my credit card # and set up a monthly payment plan with automatic payment for the year, easy peasy. David and Brennan came out the next day to take care of my house and yard. Very thorough, very nice and professional. They covered all the bases: bugs and ants in the yard and gardens, rodents under the house, spiders in the eves. The tall one (don't remember which was which) went in the crawl space to do the rodent check. He went way above and beyond. He patched up my dryer exhaust hose for me, removed a mummified rat, and took pics of the insulation the rat had damaged so I knew what kind of repairs I needed. Both were super nice and helpful, very personable. I got a follow up call the next day from the office just to check that everything went ok and to see if I had any additional questions. Everyone I had contact with assured me that they guarantee their work and if something comes up in between my quarterly rounds, just call and they'll come and take care of it. Their customer service is definitely on point! Also very impressed that they're eco-friendly. * I would like to see an improvement in company provided respirators instead of the personal masks they showed up in as well as consistency of keeping them on throughout the entire appointment when in a clients house or talking with clients. Also keeping a safe social distance space with clients. This is all new and I know it's an adjustment, but safety needs to be a priority. read more
