Aptos Glass replaced six thermopane windows that had frosted between the panes-what an upgrade to my home environment! I had delayed dealing with the failed seals, fearing that the entire window would have to be replaced and that the cost would be prohibitive. When the panes became so fogged thatI could no longer identify the birds feeding outside my kitchen window, I contacted Aptos Glass. What a find! They carefully measure the windows, and remove and replace just the glass at a fraction of the cost I feared. They responded quickly, scheduled the work promptly, and when the ordered glass arrived they were able to complete the work in my home in a couple of hours. I needed a pane for an insulated glass sliding patio door replaced. I phoned a couple of others for a quote and was told I would have to make an appointment for the quote estimate. Carrie immediately provided a quote over the phone and Chris would stop by for the measurements. I accepted. After measurements, the parts were ordered. and we made an appointment for the installation. I was expecting that the door would have to be taken to the shop and, hopefully returned and installed the same day. We set a time for 11:00 and Chris and Jacob arrived promptly on time, they replaced the pane insert, reinstalled the door and was finished by 11:30. The work was very professional, the crew was courteous and efficient, they cleaned up, including washing both sides of the glass top to bottom. 5 stars for a very fair price and the ease of working with Carrie to coordinate appointment times. Late last year we got an estimate from Chris to replace all of the windows in our house. Carrie was so patient with all of our questions and redid the estimate several times until we got just what we wanted. In February, before the world locked down, Chris and Jacob came out to install the new windows and doors. They are all wonderful to work with, thorough, precise, and honest. We love the new sliding door, French doors, and windows. We chose Milgard fiberglass, instead of vinyl, because the frames can be painted and you can have a different color inside than out. The low-e glass is fantastic; it really keeps the house cool on hot days and insulates way better than our old windows. Aptos Glass has great prices, excellent customer service, and we are happy to support a local family business. We have used them before and would gladly do so again. read more

When someone makes you feel badly, you feel like you should let them know. We had some windows to replace and tried to contact Aptos Glass and Ideal Windows. First by email. Then by website form. Then by phone - several times. No one ever returned the email, returned the form, or returned the call. No one. I even posted photos of the problem we were having and requested help. Their website says "no project too big or too small". Perhaps this isn't quite accurate. I have two beautiful homes with 30+ windows and some of them are very large. Don't bother. Five or six weeks ago we called them to get a new screen door installed. They came out and measured and then we didn't hear from them again. We left messages, with the woman who answers the phone and also on their answering machine. No call back. Apparently they don't return calls. Ever. Finally spoke to a guy yesterday. He didn't give his name. He gave me some song and dance about the door had arrived damaged so they had sent it back. I told him it would have been nice to been informed of this sooner. He didn't have an ETA for the door, but told me that he would call me today after he spoke to the place in Visalia where the door was coming from. 24 hours later, no call back. I just called Aptos Glass and spoke to the same nameless guy I spoke to yesterday, you know, the one who told me he would call me today? I fired them. Heck, fired them? They NEVER DID ANY WORK other than measure the door! Why would ANYONE want to do business with a company who doesn't care enough about their customers to return their phone calls? Is our job not big enough for them? Then tell us you aren't interested. Don't waste your time with Aptos Glass. read more

I have had 3 experiences with Aptos glass and all of them fantastic. 2 of them were small projects, a mirror and some glass inserts for cabinets, and the last project were the windows for my house. I am so pleased with the experience, Chris was straight forward and Carrie answered my countless questions. Yelp apparently took down two previous reviews which I read before deciding to give Aptos Glass my business. Both those reviews echoed the same experience I had: Aptos Glass does great work and are very reliable but is not good at communicating. You have to stay on top of them and don't expect them to call you back. Ask for a quote but don't assume they'll call you. You have to call them. I had them come out to my house and measure my windows then never heard back from them. I assumed trhey would call me because I assumed in this economy, they would want the work. They never called, but when I called them they were professional enough. If you can live with that, you will be happy with their work. Also, I later learned that my new windows could qualify for a Federal tax credit if they were rated low enough, but they weren't. I wish Aptos Glass would have told me about this, then I would have opted for the right windows. Like my electrician friend says, it's Aptos Glass' business to know these things read more

Aptos Glass installed a shower for us 3 yrs ago. The job was done well, but we have had a chronic issue with the sweeper on the bottom of the shower door. It has broken 3 times. Each time it has cost me $20-$25 for a replacement. And this is with me replacing it myself. I would think that the business owner would have a no charge on this item and come out to look at the door to prevent further occurrences. Pleas note---we have another shower door in another bathroom installed by a competitor and it has not had an issue. read more
