Got canceled 54 days before my wedding @ the Oceano Hotel. The salon wanted a 50% payment, no problem. They wanted to be be paid 100% before service was provided...I said I would give a card to assure payment as a backup, the 6 girls would be paying individually. Nope, not ok..I received several messages that I felt were ai generated, I asked if I could get a message non ai generated and I got immediately canceled. 54 days before my wedding canceled, over asking for a human. I cannot stay how much I love Aqua Beauty Lounge and owner/stylist queen Jenny Hernandez. When I moved to the coast, I was worried I would have trouble finding a local stylist I loved, vibed with, and could understand what sort of 'hair-apy' I needed. I exited a beloved salon in SF only because of proximity and wanted to explore what the coast offered. If you are looking for a beautiful result, space, stylist, and zero compromise (downtown salon results!!), look no further. Jenny is an expert at all things hair: she successfully transitioned me from the bleach scene to the beach scene: I am now transitioning to salt and pepper with lots of little highlights and low lights which make the grow in less of an ordeal and it is mind blowing (it reads blonde but helps mix in with gray so it's less of a demarcation). Ladies, this is THE WAY to GRAY. Blonde was lots of fun for about a decade, but it's hard on the scalp and Jenny's way is easier all around. She also uses excellent products and is one of my very favorite people on earth. I would give her 10 stars if it were only possible. I have been coming here for haircuts for a few years. In the early days after they opened, the service was fantastic. Stylists were friendly, punctual, and willing to talk through your needs. In the last year and a half though, the punctuality and service dropped. Yesterday was the second time in a year that my stylist (this time, Erin) essentially was so late I had to leave. I got a flippant text "Sorry again that my last client was running late.." (I never got a first sorry). She was 40 min late. No apology for wasting my time or disrupting my plans for why I scheduled the haircut. No offer to 'make it right' either. TL;DR: Service has gone way down and not worth the premium price. read more

I had a great experience with Grace styling my hair for my wedding. The salon was organized and relaxed, Grace did a beautiful job and gave me exactly what I wanted. We had to improvise the flowers since the florist sent a giant awkward flower crown, and Grace was totally relaxed about it and grabbed a tool to improvise a clipping off of it, and it turned out great. I had my first appointment with Katelyn, one of of the owners at ABL today and she gave me exactly what I was looking for. My hair was so dead and I hated the color. She brought it back to life! I'm so happy with my hair color! I'm pretty picky about my hair and was nervous about getting it colored for the first time. I decided to go to Grace because of her positive reviews and her instagram. She did an AWESOME job. The first time I asked for a balayage and she literally copied all the pictures I showed her. It grew out so well I didn't have to go until about 6 months later. At my second appointment I wanted a slightly different color (more highlights) and to go blonder. Loved this color too! I love Katelyn! She does a fantastic job on my hair. I've gotten sick of regular highlights -- they look great when you leave the salon, but in a couple weeks when your roots begin growing out again, it's pretty obvious. I wanted a nice bright blonde, but done in such a way that new darker roots would seamlessly blend with the rest of the color when growing out. So Katelyn was able to do an ombre color job, giving me the bright summer blonde that I love, but with a soft natural-looking fade toward the top. She also popped a bunch of layers in during the cut, so that my superfine hair has a little bit of bounce to it. Yay! Oh, also, I should mention that Katelyn is great to schedule with as well. Super accommodating -- she'll do whatever she can to be able to fit you in. Weekends, evenings, etc....much appreciated, as I work over the hill and can't always get back in time for "regular business hours"! read more
