She said they had committed to be there sometime between 8 and 11, but had told her they would try to be there at 8:00. This morning at about 7:45 AM Sherry received an email and a text message saying the technician was on his way, and both included the technician's photo. At precisely 8:00 AM, the truck pulled up to Sherry's house. I was greeted by a clean cut and professional young man named Chris, who introduced me to his trainee Colton. The first thing Chris asked is if I was OK with where he had parked his truck. Chris explained they would need access to Sherry's HVAC unit, the compressor, and the thermostat. They laid out a mat in front of the HVAC unit to catch any debris that may escape during cleaning, and when they came inside for me to show them the thermostat location, they put protective covers on their shoes. They presented me with an iPad for signatures authorizing the work they were performing, said the service would take from one to one and a half hours and that they didn't need me to stick around, and that they would leave a written report on Sherry's counter when they left. As I left, Colton was *wiping down* the inside access door of Sherry's HVAC. I'm a process guy, so when a company exhibits process perfection in their customer interaction I am confident that they will follow that process even if I'm not there to watch, and that everything else in the back of house is in order. We wanted to get a tankless water heater, our old one was about 17 years old and obviously not…read morerunning as efficiently as could be. I got 3 quotes from Plumbing Plus, Bill Howe and Andy "The tankless plumber". The first two each told me something different, Bill Howe wanted to gouge me for almost $1,000 for a electrician they said I would need to install a new outlet for the unit (there is one 5 feet away that I plug my washer and dryer into). Plumbing Plus told me I would need a water softener system to make it run correctly, while Bill Howe said no it's not needed a better set up would be a whole house filter. It went on and on, Andy was my 3rd and final quote and boy I'm glad I called him! He told me I didin't need any of those things if I didn't want them, the heater itself comes with a filter that takes out all of the junk in our fine water here in San Diego. He broke it down, there are two different filter choices, he didn't do a hard sell or anything like that on any of it. You can tell he has been a plumber forever, knows his competition and his customer service and bids reflect that. He installed our water heater on Friday, it looks great, he cleaned up his mess along the way and when he was done. I would call him again in a heartbeat for our plumbing needs.
