Islander is fairly large, surprisingly larger than it appears from the road. Like most shops they feature a plethora of local branded items from shirts, cups, hats, frames, sticker, magnets, etc...as well as a large variety of toys, Knick knacks and even shoes. Prices are what you would expect with most clothing ranging from $16 - $30. Service left something to be desired. And honestly, the service was non-existent. The cashier was standing behind the counter and was not paying attention to anyone in the store and even when I walked by the counter and made eye contact, she still refused to speak. Maybe she was already tired of the tourist crowd...but If that is the case, then she has a long season ahead of her! Overall, Islander is a local souvenir shop that will do you well if you are after some gifts for yourself or folks back home, as well as any last minute toys or supplies you may need.

They have a good selection of made in Charleston food items: hot sauce, jams, jellies, tea, salt, biscuit mix, cookies, honey, just to name a few. I found the prices to be very reasonable without the arduous drive through downtown to find street or paid for parking. They also have Charleston made tea towels, soaps, lotions, shirts, jewelry, and signage. I also found out they offer soap and candle classes in which you can make your own. The shirts and hats here are pricier than a touristy beach shop, but they look like they'll last for years to come and many more beach visits. If you have kids to shop for, this is a great spot, and you can find everything from shirts and hats to books written by local authors. I personally like buying Christmas ornaments when traveling, and Islands Mercantile has an impressive selection of those, too. When you walk in, almost all of the items are Kiawah themed, but as you walk to the back of the stores you see enclaves of Seabrook items. Check out the sale area for deals too.
