Today was my first time at this salon, I was feeling a bit nervous as I had old & dry hair that was breaking apart. While it was long and pretty, it felt like such a heavy weight! I was greeted by Jasmine, who I felt had a similar energy to mine, she was friendly and asked me about myself, we ended up talking about Italy at one point. I also have some hearing sensitivities, so I liked that the music was low, and that the vibe was calm. She asked me what I wanted, and I explained what the trend is calling a "kitty cut", which is basically medium length, lots of layers, and a nice framing around the face, with curtain bangs. The bangs were a bit of an issue because I previously had them cut already, but it was fine. I never showed her a picture, and yet she got the cut PERFECTLY. When I stood up from the chair I was so so so happy, I made sure to tip her when I paid. I was so afraid of going somewhere more expensive (like in hollywood or beverly hills) and ending up with a cut I didn't ask for, so this place was great as the pricing was cheaper $80 (w/ 20% tip. I really didn't mind tipping.) The mirrors, however, need replacing. While very aesthetically pleasing, they're too tall and when you sit down you can only see the top half of your face. Regardless, I am really happy with the haircut!! 10/10 service!

I specifically asked for a balayage, and the stylist said she understood. About 20 minutes in, I started noticing that she wasn't doing anything close to the balayage technique I've had done many times before. Everything was going way too fast, so I mentioned my concern. Long story short, I ended up with highlights, not a balayage. The service itself was also extremely messy. She got product on my jeans and even managed to get dye inside my ear. What upset me even more was that the bleach was left on my hair for way too long, which ended up damaging my hair and causing breakage. So not only did I leave without the balayage I asked for, I left with damaged hair. I spoke with Andrew afterward and explained how disappointed I was. He told me to call back if I wanted them to fix it. I did exactly that and left a message. I was told he would call me back, but I never heard from him. Very disappointing experience from beginning to end. If you're going here for a balayage, I would seriously reconsider. There is a big difference between balayage and highlights, and unfortunately, that difference didn't seem to be understood here. Now I'm left dealing with damaged, broken hair on top of paying for a service I didn't ask for. I definitely won't be returning.

During my appointment, my hair was bleached, and afterward my scalp began hurting significantly. By the following day, the pain had become so severe that I was crying and screaming. I have never experienced anything like this after having my hair done before. Unfortunately, I did not have medical insurance at the time, so I was unable to seek medical treatment. However, people who saw my scalp afterward expressed concern about how it looked, and the pain and burning continued. Approximately a month later, I went to Ulta to have my hair looked at. Employees there pointed out areas of damage to my hair and explained what they were seeing. My hair is now damaged, and what concerns me even more is that approximately a month after my July 9th appointment, my scalp is still in significant pain and continues to burn. I'm not writing this review to ruin anyone's career. I genuinely wanted to let the situation go, but I'm still dealing with the consequences of this appointment a month later. I'm sharing my experience because I don't want someone else to go through what I have experienced.

Now I'll keep it real, I was roughly handled at the hair wash station, the lady wrapped my hair way too tight in a towel after... then I was handed off to someone to blow dry and I spoke up saying that my scalp is sensitive. Lucia was standing nearby and heard me, she paused with her client and came over to quickly educate her colleague on how to handle my hair and they quickly adjusted to my needs making it gentle and enjoyable. I'm glad to see how quick they were to make small but impactful adjustments. The lesson here is to speak up, no one has a crystal ball and can read your mind. It's like going to a masseuse and they're massaging too hard or not hard enough, just speak up- the problem would be if you spoke up and nothing changed, but that was not the case here, I spoke up and it was instantly improved. Now for the hair cut. Wow. Lucia heard what I had to say, and made it even better. Our conversation covered how I generally wear my hair, how I like my hair cut and handled, and everything in between. Lucia was very insightful and even gave me expert tips on how to care for my scalp, which I will put into practice. My scalp is sensitive, facing some minor thinning which comes with aging. Lucia took everything into consideration and came out with the most stunning hair cut. Lucia's precision and confidence with the scissors is unmatched. I'm so thankful I found Lucia! The haircut was done on freshly washed and dry hair, I'm so happy it was a dry hair cut because it really does lend a more accurate look. She used pro techniques, techniques that I see a lot of pro New York City stylists use. I used to live in New York and I loved getting my hair cut by such talented and competitive hair stylists. Los Angeles has talented hair stylists but sadly they charge upwards of $200 for a cut if they have any experience or talent and I cannot afford that. I was so pleased to find Lucia, so incredibly talented and reasonably priced. I normally don't post hair photos on Yelp, but I'm so obsessed with Lucia's hair cut that I have to share. I will 100% be returning to Lucia. Definitely call to make an appointment! If you speak fluent Korean that would be a huge benefit as there are some employees that mostly Korean.

I have to ask to borrow the dryer and did it myself but not for more than one minute she asked me to leave and said another customer has to be next. It embarrasses me because I waited long time and before it is my turn the previous customer before me still had time to chat with her. I tip her $5 as courtesy but not for great experience
