    Unprofessional.

First, I scheduled my appointment for 12:30 PM on January 6th, but an hour later, I received a text informing me that the appointment was unavailable. She suggested that I come in at 2:30 PM, so I did. However, when I arrived, she was still working on someone else's hair. Upon sitting down, I noticed that everything seemed rushed. There was no consultation or any preparation. I informed her that I had black dye on my hair and wanted a copper brown color. Instead of sectioning my hair properly, she proceeded to dye my roots with one hair dye, even though I still had black dye in my hair. In the end, my roots were a complete different color than the rest of my hair and the ends looked like they hadn't changed at all. I have been to salons that have done my hair this color without bleach as well. She offered to give highlights with bleach but I said no due to that reason. The washing of my hair was fine, but the blow-drying experience was messy. The entire process was rushed, which is unusual for my hair, which typically takes hours. If you want a proper salon experience don't go here. The hair looked pretty in the end, but it was not what I had wanted at all. She offered to fix it, but it would take 10 minutes and I would have to leave the salon with my hair wet. I declined because I was not willing to endure another unpleasant experience. Update warning this stylist is mean, immature, and unprofessional as evidenced by her reply to my negative experience. when she says -"I think you're having a bad day" it is clearly a projection about her own emotional state that day. Clearly, she overbooked, instead of being honest, and saying she could not do the job with the time allotted, or that she does not know how to do what I wanted, she chose to take my money and do a rushed shitty job that left my roots a completely different color. Instead of taking responsibility for her bad job, she chooses to try to insult. Clients beware. If she is having a good day you might get a good job? But if she isn't then be prepared to be rushed, lied to, and insulted. This stylist needs to practice self awareness and integrity. A true professional will have the guts to deny a client because the hair color desired can't be done on the hair, they don't have the expertise to do that color, or don't  have the time that day.

For reference on my sons hair also type c curly hair...couldnt find a Pic of it fresh cut this after 4 months of growth

Update on this amazing hair salon. I love the fact that its a private salon. She gives you her ultimate attention to you and makes you feel so heard an taken care of. Her knowledge in color, treatments and style are just so superb. I have type 3c hair very curly. I go to her to do my keratin treatment. Now she has been my hair stylist for over 15 yrs. There was a time that I wore my hair natural for almost 10 yrs and she always took care of my hair. Curly or doing treatments she knew how to cut it. My son has my natural hair and he only goes to her. No one else can touch it. He has tried barbers and ultimately after he went with Jacqui he hasnt allowed anyone else to cut it. This person is beautiful inside and out and extremely knowledgeable. She makes up feel special she gives her advice on what you need and just an amazing human being. I'm to the point that I tell her whatever you want I trust you and I always leave so happy. My mom just shows her a Pic of what she wants and she recreates it I'm extremely impressed by her skills and will keep going to her forever.

I was told the haircut would be $60, so I booked it. When I arrived, I wasn't even sure I was at the right place because the business name didn't match. Turns out it's just a bunch of stylists renting chairs and advertising under their own names. The space itself is a weird little hole in the wall -- not inviting at all. The door was locked when I got there, and my stylist was nowhere to be found, so another customer -- still in a robe with product in her hair -- had to get up and unlock the front door for me. That set the tone for the rest of the visit. I tried to communicate what I wanted since it was my first time, but my stylist seemed far more interested in talking than listening, so I eventually just let her do her thing. Then we moved to the shampoo station, and the chair was absurdly small and uncomfortable. I mentioned it, and she just chuckled and said, "Yeah, it is pretty small." In the middle of washing my hair, she asked me, "Isn't this relaxing?" -- after I had just told her the chair was uncomfortable. Fluorescent lights blaring overhead, people chatting at full volume in a tiny space, and the world's smallest chair... relaxing is not the word I'd use. I just nodded so I didn't have to answer. Then, while still rinsing my hair, she asked if I wanted styling. I was confused and asked what she meant. She explained that styling would be an additional $60 and would require washing my hair twice. I declined -- I wasn't looking for rollers or anything like that, just a basic cut. We finished up, went back to the chair, and she said she'd dry my hair so I could see the cut better. She roughly dried it, left it still damp, and the haircut looked like something straight out of the early 2000s. At that point, I just wanted to leave. Before I could even stand up, she asked if I had Zelle. I said yes, but reminded her I was told they take credit cards. She said they do, but there'd be a fee and she'd prefer Zelle. I just paid it and got out of there. I walked out into the cold January air with damp hair and ended up with a headache. When I got home, my husband asked me if it was raining outside because of how my hair looked. I just blow-dried it myself and accepted that this was a reminder: make the appointment with the stylist you trust and know that they are doing, even if you have to wait.

After 5.5 hours and $350 + tip, my gray hairs in the front were still completely visible--the main reason I came in. When I brought it up, I was told I should have specifically asked for gray coverage, which should be part of a basic consultation or at minimum asking the client if this is something they want. I also had uneven, patchy highlights. I returned the next day for a fix, requested a different stylist, and was denied. They said the same person could fix it all they needed to do was tone it down a bit, and cover the greys The "correction" resulted in my hair being taken darker overall, with the highlights essentially gone. I paid for highlights and left with dark hair. They told me eventually it should lighten down but I'm not seeing any improvement it's still really dark. To make matters worse I also left with visible dye on my forehead something I wouldn't expect after paying this price at a salon. Very disappointing experience and not one I would recommend I honestly wanted to cry. I really would have expected a partial refund or a proper correction by a more experienced stylist.

Last weekend, my boyfriend was planning on getting a haircut but his usual barber shop had too long of a wait. So we tried looking for another one for him. He declined several places that we visited because their prices could not compete. Then finally I called Genesis, and Lisa answered. She quoted me a great price for men's haircuts. Five minutes later I called again, and she quoted me a great price for women's haircuts too. Last weekend, my boyfriend and I both had our hair cut. Lisa did a perfect haircut for my boyfriend. Beforehand, he let her know his clipper numbers and she nailed it. For myself I didn't know what exactly I wanted. Lisa kindly gave me ideas which I felt comfortable with. Lisa was attuned to my fear of cutting off too much and not being able to go back. It was a refreshing experience. Before we left the salon, Lisa handed me her business card with her number. It read 818-979-3647. After a little under a week, I wanted to cut off a little more and called her. Even though she had just left the salon, she called me back and accommodated me into her schedule. At this point, I had a better idea of what I wanted and Lisa carried it out perfectly. I love my new haircut and will definitely be coming back. Getting my hair cut by Lisa was a game changer. Much Thanks to Lisa!

The salon has such a great vibe, and you can tell they genuinely care about making every client feel beautiful. Melissa does my color, and she is incredible. I've never gotten so many compliments on my hair color in my life. People are constantly stopping me to ask where I get it done. Gina does my extensions, and they are absolutely flawless. Together, they're the dream team, and they make me feel so confident every time I leave. What I also love is how attentive they are. If I've ever had even the smallest concern, they take care of it right away and make sure I'm completely happy. That kind of customer service is rare. Their pricing is fair, their work is amazing, and I recommend Melissa and Gina to anyone who's looking to love their hair and feel beautiful. I'm so glad I found this salon!

I honestly wish I had read a review like this before booking because it would've saved me almost…read more$170 and months of growing out my hair. This was my first time here. I had seen all the amazing reviews, looked through the salon's Instagram, and even checked out Tristy's page beforehand. I remember thinking, "Her work looks pretty good." Since I specifically wanted layers, I booked with her because she was recommended for them. Looking back, I couldn't have been more wrong. I came in knowing exactly what I wanted: long, blended layers, a U-shaped cut, lots of movement, and face framing. I also made it very clear that I did not want a V-cut or choppy layers because I didn't want my ends looking thin. I repeated this several times, and she kept saying she understood. While Tristy was nice, I honestly felt like she was trying to get through the appointment as quickly as possible. I had even arrived early, but the consultation still felt rushed when I was explaining exactly how I wanted my hair. The salon itself was nice and had a good atmosphere, so I honestly felt like I was in good hands. After she finished, she gave me a full round-brush blowout and took a picture of the back of my hair. It looked great, and I left the salon happy. When I checked out, though, I was charged $150 (almost $170 with tip) instead of the $100 I had originally been quoted. The extra charge was never explained, but since I liked how my hair looked at the time, I assumed it was because of my hair length and didn't question it. The first time I washed and dried my hair myself, my heart honestly sank. The layers were uneven, choppy, disconnected, and looked much closer to a V-cut than the U-cut I had specifically asked for. The back had movement, but it wasn't soft or seamless. Before anyone says, "That's just how layers look," no, they don't. Layers can have movement without looking choppy. Mine didn't. What upset me the most wasn't just the money. It was spending almost $170 and still NOT getting the haircut I asked for. I had spent months growing my hair out because I wanted a beautiful layered haircut. Instead, I lost length, ended up with uneven layers, and walked away with hair that looked nothing like what I had envisioned. I eventually went to another salon just to fix it. Ironically, I left that salon happier than I ever left this one. I'm writing this because I relied on the "good 4+ stars" reviews and Instagram before booking, and my experience was completely different. Tristy was nice, but being nice doesn't make up for a bad haircut. I wouldn't recommend her to my closest friend, let alone anyone looking for layers. If you care about your hair and you're booking for layers, don't book with Tristy. This was, without a doubt, the worst salon haircut I've ever had.
