Really cool inexpensive ride. We took our four year old on a quick boat ride to shoreline drive. Coming was great! The boat wasn't packed. Super clean. Everyone was really nice . They have snacks available for purchase and we got to see the queen mary. Leaving was different. We were delayed because the crew had to take lunch. It can't be that hard to smile and welcome somebody aboard, the whole process is simple but it should be explained not everyone is from the area and most people will mistake a round trip and pay it in advance by mistake. This was a really fun child adventure. We docked right next to Ballist Point, it took us to the lighthouse and then to queen mary. The trip was $5 per person and total travel time, round trip, was 2 hours. They have two different boats going at the same time so check the website for boarding times. They have a nice snack bar with alcohol. Long Beach has few best kept secrets. One is Berth 55 and another is the Aqualink. I always knew that the Aqualink was there, but I just recently tried it out. It only runs in the summer. Stops include Alamitos Bay near The Boathouse, the Belmont Pier, Rainbow Harbor in front of Gladstones and the Queen Mary. In a nutshell, you are getting a harbor cruise for only $5. Not only that, but they have a full service bar on board. We went on a Tuesday afternoon and there was only a handful of people. There is limited seating outside, but plenty inside. They have bike racks to to hook your bike up at no extra charge. They do have a policy of not allowing round trips. But you can get around that by getting off and having food or a drink at one of the stops, then getting back on the next one. They run about every hour. read more

This is the best kept secret in the Long Beach area. I don't get it, why does the city of Long Beach not advertise this amazing product to the locals and even to the people in Los Angeles and Orange County. So we jumped on the boat at pier number four, right down near the Shoreline Village. We headed east and made a quick stop over by the Queen Mary. The views of the actual Queen Mary are amazing from the pier we have to pull up to. Then we headed across what I'm gonna call the bay in to the next marina and we get dropped off near all these amazing restaurants. We go in we have a great dinner and some cocktails and then we come back out and jump on the boat and headed back to Shoreline Village. Such a fun night!! The views from the boat are amazing, the staff was very friendly and I can't believe I've lived in Southern California my whole life and not taking advantage of this amazing service. read more

Great way to see the harbor and get a taste of high speed catamaran style boat in the open waters. $5 each way made the entire round trip $10 per person - such a deal! Hopped on at Alamitos bay and expected to go to the Aquarium but the boat needed to do a crew change so they went to the Queen Mary first. This route showed how the boat handled the open waters at high speed - quite well even on a very windy day with white wind capped waves. Didn't get seasick so that was good. This would be a good trip for families and kids. The crew was very nice, talkative, and the bartender did a great job with stiff drinks! The return trip was nice - about an hour apart which made it easy to do some strolling, shopping and a bite to eat at Shoreline drive. On the way back, at Belmont Pier, some angler caught a stingray and landed it on the pier. The angler had to destroy the fish because the hook was caught too deep and would not have survived. Our almost 90 year old father, who has a walker, boarded the Aqualink for Father's Day on the 1:45pm from Aquarium Dock 4 to Alamitos Bay Berth 3. They told my father to disembark and to stand at the back of the line once disembarked at Alamitos Bay. He was not able to get back on for the return trip back to the Aquarium. The staff stated that there was no longer any room for him for the return trip at 2:30pm. They said the next Aqualink would be at 4:45pm. Horrible experience. He is not able to wait another 2 hours and our family had to Uber him back plus the rest of the family to the Aquarium. Horrible staff on Father's Day telling our elderly father with a walker to stand at the back of the line and then refusing him to get on the return trip. read more

The purplish, red, and, yellow 68 foot catamaran, with a main cabin and deck seating it transports passengers to and from The Aquarium of the Pacific to Alamitos Bay Landing with stops at the Queen Mary, and the Belmont Pier in the Long Beach Harbor. I left a very expensive item on the boat after arriving to downtown LB and was extremely nervous when I realized later that day I had left it on the boat. Definitely a different and fun perspective seeing Long Beach! Went to try to the Aqualink with a party of 7 around 6pm on a Saturday from the Long Beach Aquarium. No reservations necessary. $5 per person for one way only. They prefer exact change by the way. It wasn't crowded at all. Perfect for spontaneous trips getting around the city, especially if you're showing your out-of-town guests around, it's perfect! The Aqualink makes pitstops at the Queen Mary, Belmont Pier and ending it at Alamitos Bay. Beautiful views! So much fun! We saw the sunset as we were riding the boat. It does get chilly as the boat speeds up. Everything turned out smoothly. FYI for those who get SEASICK: I was fine until the boat tried to dock on Belmont Pier. The current was a little strong on that side of the bay so the actual dock was not stable. The boat was very rocky so I started to get nauseous from there until our last stop at Alamitos Bay. I won't complain that much though cuz our boat ride seeing Long Beach was only $5 and ending our trip at Alamitos Bay, we ended up having some beers at the new Ballast Point. Perfect! read more

What have you done this summer? That's a question I was once asked by my boss. The AquaLInk delivers an affordable ride on the open sea. Embarked at Dock 4 at Long Beach Aquarium. It was only $5 per person and a 30 minute journey that offered a nearby destination, Los Alamitos and an immediate return for the same price. A short cruise on the front deck offered sitting or standing room. The scenic view and salty spray refreshed us as we rode the gentle waves on this smooth boat. Wonderful sightseeing vantage point. Maybe a little too much wind, if you're a female and wearing a dress. Be a little cautious if you will. It got windy, you might want to bring a light jacket if you plan to stay outside on the deck.There was a little girl who was with her family. She had on a short dress, was looking ahead. The wind caught the bottom of her hem and it flipped up. She quickly smoothed it down, not before she had a reverse Marilyn Monroe moment. Her mom and the rest of us just laughed, it was a good thing she had on a cute, frilly, panty. Otherwise, the interior of this fantastic sea vessel was warm, with adequate seating, uncrowded and clean, with no breezes inside! It lacked the charm of Lil Toot in Santa Barbara, but made up for it with speed. We zipped across the water. Thirty minutes later, we pulled up to the restaurants of Los Alamitos. Once docked, we disembarked, walked about 30 feet, stood in line with the others, waited about 5 minutes and were allowed back up on the ramp. Again $5 per person for an immediate return trip back to Dock 4. For passengers that wished to stay and tour around Los Alamitos, they were told when the next boat would be coming to pick them up. Our parking meter was ticking away, so we immediately boarded the boat back. We enjoyed our view of the sailboats in the harbor, the seals and Queen Mary. It was a very relaxing and entertaining. Didn't smell diesel exhaust at all, from the boat's front "fore" or rear "aft". This is what summer is all about! read more

I have been sharing how great Aqua Link has been. Last minute we decided to take neighbors from Alamitos Bay to the Queen Mary. Unfortunately, we missed the 7:00pm ride by 1 minute. We arrived two minutes early, but the gate was already closed. Instead we grabbed a quick dinner and waited for the 8:15pm taxi. Boat arrived, passengers departed, activated my passes, crew stayed on and around the boat. It took 30 minutes until a passenger walked down towards the crewman to ask about boarding and was told the next ride would be departing at 9:00pm! Nobody came up to the crowd and tickets disappear after 15 minutes of activating, I lost my tickets. I was told the next day customer service can view when the tickets were activated and will be refunded. WRONG!! I HAVE SPOKEN TO WAY.COM WHO OPERATES THE APP, SENT IN MULTIPLE INQUIRIES AND NO FURTHER RESPONSE HAS BEEN RECEIVED AFTER THEY SAID THEY WOULD SEND AN EMAIL ON HOW TO PROCEED WITH A REFUND REQUEST! They indicated when they were activated, but said they could not verify if they were used. They could have easily verified with the crew if they manually recorded 3 weekend passengers and two additional one way passengers at 8:15pm on the night in question because the taxi was cancelled. There were no passengers! LONG STORY SHORT, THE WAY.COM SYSTEM IS SERIOUSLY FLAWED. I DO NOT RECOMMEND USING!!! read more
