    Dragon boat

How does one participate in sports outside of school or in a professional environment? If you're like the folks who showed up this past Saturday, you get out of your comfort zone and try something new. In this case, the Long Beach Dragon Boat festival was the challenge at hand, and I had the privilege of paddling alongside my fellow colleagues in the corporate division. As a complete noob who just did a handful of trainings, I had a really fun time. The age range for this dragon boating is inspiring, and you can't say that about many sports. The venue around here in the mornings most weekends are full of people training in rowing/paddling sports. The weather can be pretty foggy early in the morning, but it warms up slightly throughout the day, staying mild compared to the inland temperatures. During the festival, tens of hundreds of tents are set up for teams to regroup and rest in between their assigned heats. It seemed jarring initially that we were set up camp so close to residential houses, but I'm pretty sure their used to it by now. Parking and traffic in the morning can get hectic, so I opted to park a little further and closer to Mother's Beach, but the earlier you get here the more options you have. Turns out this will be the site for a few LA Olympics events in 2028, so looking forward to visiting when that time comes.

Marine Stadium is a long aquatic gem in Long Beach that provides peace, fun, zen, beauty, freedom, exercise, and everything to the community and for entertainment. It held many events such as Dragon Boat Race annually, the farmer market each week, church, people practicing their water skills, biking, jogging, walking, picnic, mini hike, and etc. I see beauty on the side walk and the water. Enjoy!

After the recent snowfall in the Los Angeles area, we had hoped to see the snow topped mountains in the distance. It is possible to do so in winter months, however they were not visible at all that day. In any event, a peaceful place to stroll.

I've never been here specifically for the Marine Stadium, but I've run through here annually in October during the Long Beach Marathon. Recently, I participated in an inaugural half marathon in August where the start and finish line was at the southeast end boat launch ramp parking lot. There were ample parking and restrooms along the southern stretch of sand. The northwest end has a grassy area as well as 2 tennis courts. The northern side also has parking and small stretches of grass with the rowing center at the end. This looked to be a nice place to get in your exercise or to just relax and enjoy some fresh air.

Great spot for a Regatta. You can sit on the beach, or watch from your car. The restrooms are typically stocked & clean and the facility seems to be run well. Marine stadium offers lots of free parking, offering 2 full parking lots and plentiful street parking. I enjoy watching the cranes, pelicans and ducks in between races. The horticulture around this area is stunning!

This area is super chill. It's a branch off of the ocean but it's very much like a long lake. Calm waters perfect for small watercraft and you'll see lots of water skiing up and down the small channel. The people in the area are all just out enjoying the day. Walking, jogging, biking, some sitting in the shade or by the water. There are sandy areas and some nice shaded green spots on the far end. It's kind of off the beaten path and that's probably how this community likes it. I haven't found it overcrowded but I don't know if that's just a result of the current pandemic. I'll see what it's like next summer, but even if busy, it's still a nice spot to get some recreation in.

I love coming here to walk my dog and enjoy the view of the water. This is where the rowing comps were held in the1932 and 1984 LA Olympics. It will probably host it again when the Olympics come back to LA in 2028.

Marine stadium This is a cool spot where boats race but also where they host New Years run. Which my daughter ran today. Was a very nice run and very cold but I slept in the car lol Place is fun very big park area only thing was that restroom was closed that part I was not happy about. But this is kid friendly area. Also bike lanes and running is best here

We go there for the boat races. Looking around, the small beach area is nice...but very small and narrow. Great if it is not a busy weekend

Are we allowed to have a small bday gathering on the green area near the entrance?

Can we do bonfires here? Do we need a permit too? :-)

And they're phasing out their most powerful boat, the 75hp, because of too much abuse and the associated high insurance costs. But they still offer the 40hp boat and that has plenty of power, with a top speed of about 20 knots. It comfortably seats 4 people in designated seats, but can fit an extra two people sitting up front sideways on bench seating. I had a great time. I saw seals sunbathing on the buoys, and I even saw dolphins near the first oil rig island by the Queen Mary ship. Of course you can also get a nice close-up view of the Queen Mary itself. You're allowed to go almost to the Seal Beach Municipal Pier, but not quite. 1hr duration is enough if you want to do a quick single lap of the designated ocean area. 2hrs is highly recommend if you want to take your time and not be rushed. Be sure to bring a light jacket, hat, and sunglasses to protect yourself from the wind and sun. The designated driver is not allowed to drink. I'm not sure if the rest of the guests are allowed to drink. Park near the Yard House restaurant and then walk to the back of the restaurant and you'll see the little hut with the staff in it. If nobody is there then look over the edge to the docked boats because the staff might be down there instead.

Because we couldn't get up on a plane, the small waves ended up splashing everyone on the boat. We just puttered around the shoreline marina. It was fun, but a little disappointing at the same time.

Oh man I never published this review.. this is from our booking on Nov 26, 2025…read more. Fantastic experience from start to finish! Decided to surprise my wife with a relaxing duffy boat ride for our wedding anniversary with some friends. Went straight to Yelp to do my research (thanks Yelp!). Originally, I was going to book with a rental company for Newport Harbor, but then came across a Groupon for PCH Electric Boats. After checking out their website and reading the glowing reviews on Yelp, I immediately booked. I called to book a white duffy boat on the day before Thanksgiving. The person on the phone was friendly, courteous and really easy-going. They asked if I had a Groupon and if I could provide the voucher number. BOOM. done. all set! I received an email with VERY DETAILED INSTRUCTIONS (including photos) of where to park and where the meeting area was. Additionally, a link to the waiver form that every passenger is required to fill out (even your babies) was included in that email. On the day of our booking, we were met by the owner Grant who I'm pretty sure was the same friendly, courteous and easy-going person I talked to on the phone days earlier when I booked. He provided specific instructions on where we're allowed to go and what to avoid. He saw we had several small children in our party and recommended everyone use the restroom nearby before boarding since there is not place to stop out in the harbor. After we came back from our potty break, Grant lead us down to the dock and got all the kiddos fitted for their life vests (all in great condition btw). He assisted us with our bags so we could focus on boarding the kids safely and even took a group photo for us! The boat was clean and easy to drive. The sound system was bumping and all the windows easily lifted up for that nice harbor breeze. It was a beautiful and memorable day. On our return, Grant was at the dock with one of his employees ready to receive us. He guided us in smoothly and as we were gathering our belongings and cleaning up, he helped all the kids out and grabbed our bags. We handed Grant a tip and immediately he passed it over to his employee who was going to do the post-ride cleaning.. what a great boss!!!! Definitely will be booking with PCH Electric Boats again! Thanks Grant!!!!

The Bluetooth connection worked fine but the speakers were a little blown. Despite the condition of the duffy, we still had a blast. The staff was very nice checking us in, getting us started and parking the duffy. I'd totally do this again!
