Not a good experience. Short version is after a consultation over email complete with photos and a lengthy explanation of what I wanted and needed a stylist proficient in that type of women's short cut. I started with short hair Id grown out for months to achieve the desired cut, I left 3.5 hours later with every bit of what I'd grown out cut off, in a style nothing even close to what I'd discused during consult. I didn't freak out I didn't get nasty, I offered up a different photo that was as short as they had taken it, so maybe at least it would look ok. The stylist was nice but clearly uncomfortable with the cut she had done, and proceeded to absolutely coat it in pomade in an effort to "show texture" even though I specifically asked for no product because it just flattens my hair out. 2 washes at the salon and it was still gummy. And twice more at home. I understand mistakes happen I tried to be understanding I kept an open mind I tried to Make the best of it it didn't want the stylist to feel bad, they had cut off all my highlights so I booked the highlight I made sure I tipped her and thanked her for trying so hard it was very obvious I wasn't happy it was also very obvious they knew that they had not done what I had asked and I was pretty devastated I had been growing it for months and months, and it finally got into a length I could have the cut I wanted. The salon seemed very high end I wrote specifically asking for someone who could do this type of a cut, I was assured that they could, and again I was prepared to just sort of work with them and work with it I scheduled the highlight, I went home and was so upset once I got a good look at what they had done that I did right and email expressing my disappointment and I asked if when I came in for the highlight we could have a discussion about what steps we needed to take going forward to get me from what they had done to what I wanted to have. They have never given me the courtesy of a response. The following day I received a follow-up email essentially how did you like your visit to the salon and I responded to that one as well expressing what it happened and how upset I was also more upset that the salon could not even be bothered to write me back, call, nothing Not even acknowledge what they had done I did not ask for a refund I didn't ask for anything except for somebody to say to me we are really sorry that we screwed up we're really sorry that we didn't look at the pictures you sent but said we did. And that's what I am more upset about, what kind of a place screws up so royally and can't even have the courtesy to respond to you when you express that you are unhappy? Not a sort of place you want to go, and I won't be back It's an unfortunate lesson, it wouldn't even matter how good they can do hair over there if that's the attitude if that's how they treat customers when they screw up and they clearly screwed up. Because I chose to make the best of it and not pitch a fit right there, my presumption is they're going to pretend that I left happy, I assure you I did not, it was better to put a stop to things after 3 and 1/2 hours and I still have some hair left on my head and I left trying not to hurt that poor stylist's feelings, and hoping with some communication it could be made right going forward. There's no excuse for ignoring someones very valid complaint that was brought to you respectfully in a clear and polite manner, in writing TWICE. read more

This is STILL the best salon around! Co-owner, Brenda is wonderful. My regular stylist moved on to a different industry so I've gone to Brenda my last 3 or 4 appointments. She's attentive and really listens to what her clients are looking for. The vibe is modern and laid back. I recommend this place to anyone who will listen. read more

Lindsay List is an extremely talented esthetician. She understands her craft extremely well. It always amazes me how ahead of the times she is in the realm of makeup. Living in Arizona now for 10 years I see how the west coast is very ahead when it comes to fashion and makeup. When I visit Rhode Island (my home state) I see a lot of outdated styles and it makes me cringe. Lindsay is clearly on the cutting edge of skin care and is continuously researching the latest methods. I have had my makeup done by her and I felt better than ever. She has recommended several products that I am in love with. The salon has a great atmosphere and I feel at home when I am able to visit. If you are middle class, don't go to Aqua. They want maximum prices. On their site, each price has a "+" sign and they want the "+". My daughter stopped going there when she was quoted $225 for a cut and highlight. Those are NYC prices. They gave me a set price when I went there and now want me to pay almost about $240 per month for a trim and color and I must use the junior stylist and only book on weekday nights and not Saturdays anymore - the cover of darkness??? When I stated that they want me to pay what a car payment is every month for my hair, I was told by the owner, "For some people I suppose that IS a car payment". I was told I am taking up "prime real estate" and must now essentially occupy steerage in their salon! That insult has made this loyal client a former client. They are expensive now and only want those who can pay the maximum. Another point: they state they are pampering but it is cramped, hectic and noisy - not relaxing at all. No calm oasis at Aqua and you better be close to the 1 percent to pay their prices. Reply to Aqua: Appreciate you agreeing that your prices are unaffordable to many people. That was the point of my review. And also that the environment at Aqua is loud, noisy, cramped and not that peaceful and zen spa experience that's advertised. Reply to Aqua: Just giving my honest opinion about my experience at your salon as it was presented to me. Being called a bully is a pretty personal attack. Just simply wanted to warn others that if you don't want to pay outrageous prices, this is not the place for you. I was not treated nicely, was insulted and also that Aqua isn't zen-like in my opinion. Yelp is in business so customers can share, applaud, recommend or warn. Aqua is perfect! Torrie does such a wonderful spray tan job! It's always perfect. She spray tans me for all my events or just when I'm feeling pale. She is super personable and makes you feel so comfortable. The salon and spa are gorgeous. Staff is always super friendly and accommodating. Always a warm greeting. read more

I'm one of the pickiest people when it comes to getting my eyebrows done. I've had MANY bad experiences in the past, but I decided to give Aqua a chance. LINDSAY took care of me and I was SO HAPPY with her work! I was looking for a clean up. I told her I was trying to grow them back in from someone previously making them too thin. She explained she was going to leave a few stragglers so I could pencil them in to my liking. She was able to keep my arch, removed my stragglers from the sides of my eyes (which NO ONE ELSE ever does), and she even did the middle because she recognized that I did have hair there. Normally people overlook my middle and sides because my hair is so light. She used a special lotion on me after so I wasn't red or irritated. This salon is consistently good. I have seen two stylists (one left for another salon) and I have always been so happy with my cut. Brenda, the owner, gave me the best haircut I've ever had.
