I have been to a few different hair salons and this is absolutely the best one! I always leave happy and satisfied. I only go for a quarterly split ends trim and bangs cut. A women's haircut is $45. You have an allotted 45 minutes but I'm usually out in less than 20 minutes. I saw a few reviews complain about the price when they come in for just a trim, but honestly I see it as a relaxing treat for yourself. You get your hair shampooed/conditioned, cut, and then styled/dried. Enjoy yourself! Michelle is the best and I am so glad I found her salon. Even after my very girst visit, she remembered how I liked my hair styled. If I ever moved out of North Kingstown, I would still make the drive here! read more

My son's girlfriend made a last minute appointment with Total Look Salon located in North Kingstown, Rhode Island. They did not disappoint and her hair looked absolutely beautiful. Although staff was friendly. I felt as though the hairdresser didn't listen to what length I wanted. It was extremely disappointing when a hairdresser isn't careful with a new client to make sure we are on the same page especially when pointing out the length and saying below the shoulder. I also said I don't want it too short for I don't like the flip out it cause. She did the first chop no warning and then asked if that is fine... unfortunately you can't go back. She ironed it inward and I just new the next wash it would flip out and I would have to straighten it. Walking out upset with a Bob cut and the receptionist laughing about it made me regret trusting the reviews on here. Once again they are nice people but because of this I will not be back. read more

Had a haircut with Megan today. She said she had been doing hair for 15 years. This sounds weird to say but it was maybe the most pleasant haircut experience I've ever had. I was in and out in under 15 mins. Her personality is awesome. She's not afraid to tell you what she thinks and it shows in the quality of work. You can also tell she really cares about her results too. Everything was perfect. 5 stars all the way. read more

After spending way too much for a trim and an ombré at an upscale salon in Providence, I found Shelby at Total Look and won't go anywhere else. I was pretty unhappy with the ombré I received elsewhere, the ends were looking brassy and orange. Not cute. I went in to see Shelby after many recommendations and I am so glad I did. I'm not a "hair girl" per se and just brought in a bunch of pictures, gave her a description that was extremely hard to decipher and what I got was better than I could have asked for. Not only am I very happy with the results but I was happy with the salon and, most importantly, Shelby. I'll definitely be back. read more

I recently moved into the area and had a great referral to Mike at Total Salon. I had a consultation with Mike and he offered some good ideas on color and we scheduled an appointment for two days later. I arrived at the salon for my scheduled appointment today and he informed me that it would not be "cost effective" for him to style my hair. I have no idea what that possibly means as he quoted me a price for a cut and color during our consultation and I was quite comfortable with the cost of his services. I left the salon now looking for another stylist the weekend before Christmas. Extremely unprofessional and hard to believe this is how someone runs their business. This is not a place I will recommend nor visit again. Very disappointing! read more

I have been going to Total Look Salon for about 6 months. It has always been fine, I never left feeling overwhelmed but I wasn't typically disappointed either. The price was right as well. However, today was a different story. I'm had an appointment scheduled for 4:30 pm. I arrived on time, walked in and sat down. There was no one at the front desk, but there were 4 other employees working and walking around, Not 1 employee...including my stylist...acknowledged that I was there, didn't say hello, I'll be with you in a minute...nothing. I sat there for 30 minutes waiting for someone to help me before finally walking out. I am extremely disappointed. I realize they may not be the most expensive in town, but with service like that I don't feel they deserve any of my hard earned money. read more

Magan, my stylist, knows exactly how to cut my hair and whether I'm getting highlights, lowlights or an entire color change my hair is always flawless (I tend to change my hair color alot!) Typically don't write reviews but unfortunately I felt I should write one in this situation I went for a simple haircut. Got there at 10:40am. My appointment was at 11:00am they took me in after a couple minutes and cut my hair. That was fine but after she went to blow dry my hair. Instead of using the brush on my hair, she combed her fingers through and it hurt. I mean her nails were getting stuck in my hair and like ripping it out. I got a massive headache and she continued to do that with my entire head. My head was like jerking back and she was essentially like pulling my hair the entire time. Not an experience I've ever had anywhere else. Also she kept talking to other people and asked me if I wanted layers but didn't hear when I said yes bc she was to busy talking to her friend so I didn't get them. This entire experience cost me $50. And I got home at 11:03 and I live 10-12 minutes away so I drove all the way home and realized I paid $50 for a haircut that lasted 10 minutes bc she also washed my hair. Not a great experience and I will not be coming here again read more

After a disastrous debacle at another salon, I decided to try Total Look Salon and booked an appointment with Michelle. Michelle was super professional and spent time listening to what I wanted. We ended up having to chop off almost six inches in order to get my hair looking right again. I still have a long way to go before I get my locks looking beautiful, but each month gets better and better. This isn't a slick, fancy salon, but the results are very consistent. The atmosphere is friendly and chatty, and you can tell all the stylists enjoy being there. It's the Cheers of salons. I find my appointments enjoyable and relaxing. My daughter had a cut and Brazillian Blowout by Shelby. Shelby is young, but the most mature, hard-working girl I've met in forever. She was capable of engaging my teenage daughter, and having a conversation with me too. I recommend this salon for good, consistent results at an amazing price. read more

Been here twice and had an overall great experience. Stylists are helpful and can help direct you to the right color/cut for you. A little pricey - that is the only negative I would comment on. Other than that, would recommend if you want a new hair cut but don't know exactly what you want. read more

We moved from Los Angeles to North Kingstown a few months ago and my sister an I found Total Look when we arrived. Since then we have been "Totally Hooked" and adore Newport Megan (there are two Megans, both great, but we started with Newport Megan and love her!).
