Ok, here goes, Before I get started, let me grab your attention...DO NOT RENT ANYTHING FROM THESE PEOPLE! First up, I asked for a 2 hour rental and was charged for 4 hours. I rented a pontoon boat to take my wife out for a little cruise. We headed left out of the marina and found a bridge on the left and decided to cruise under it. Got to the other side and shut off the motor to enjoy the view and chat. We were about 50 yards off shore and a huge wind gust blew us towards shore and when I tried to start the boat, the battery was dead and wouldn't start. We were being pushed fast towards the rocks and I had a choice to make, try and throw the anchor or jump out of the boat and catch it as at approached the rocks...I decided to jump out because I didn't have time to throw the anchor. Asked my wife to contact the company to tell them we were stranded and needed help. I stood there for an hour keeping the boat off the rocks, in my pants, protecting their boat. I injured my foot on the rocks and had an overall horrible experience with AQUA JET SKI& SPORTS. Their boats are junk and they could care less about their customers...stay away from them. Felt I deserved a refund and they refused, wouldn't even return my calls!!! read more

We went out on Lake Lanier on a 24-foot pontoon rented from Aqua Sports Adventures in Buford. We had a good time, but my experience wasn't as fun as my previous boat outings on Lake Lanier and Lake Allatoona. We originally wanted to rent a boat with an upper deck, slide, wet bar, and toilet (like the boats I've gone out on in the past from different boat rental companies), but Aqua Sports Adventures didn't have any so we were "stuck" with a 24-foot pontoon. This pontoon had a max capacity of 14 passengers. We used the entire 14-person allotment and after fuel, fees, taxes, and gratuity, our total per person cost to rent the boat all day (9am-5pm) was $34. It wasn't a bad price, but it wasn't as good of a deal as other bigger and better boats I've rented from businesses like Port Royale in Gainesville ($25: https://www.yelp.com/biz/port-royale-gainesville-3?hrid=p9tlB4H5UfFBNDjPXg0AtA) and Paradise Rental Boats in Acworth ($32: https://www.yelp.com/biz/paradise-rental-boats-acworth?hrid=4OA7jBULdk2refVmaBfiHg). Granted, a lot of factors go into the price you pay including the number of people you bring with you to split the cost. Ultimately, however, I paid more for a smaller boat which was not as enjoyable. I do not recommend maxing out the boat's passenger capacity. Naturally, the more passengers you have, the less space there is on the boat and this includes the space needed for bags, coolers, floatables, and other stuff. We were crammed for space. It was tight and got uncomfortable at times. The pontoon had limited shade (what seemed like less coverage than other pontoons I've been on in the past) and because we had several people, it forced several to have to sit and bake/burn in the sun. As for the boat itself, which was 90-horsepower, it was in OK shape at best. Like renting a car, we walked around the boat (with an Aqua Sports Adventures employee) and marked on a sheet of paper any existing damage which included some pretty big dents. After leaving the dock, we discovered that the front door to our boat was broken. Through wear and tear, the hinge had become unscrewed. And despite our efforts to balance the weight, the boat always seemed to tip to one side. This may or may not have been related to steering problems which I noticed when driving the boat. At higher speeds, no matter how hard I turned the steering wheel to the left and no matter which direction the current/wakes seemed to be going, the boat always drifted right. The steering was out of whack. Therefore, I had to drive at moderate to slow speeds. Anyone who wants to drive a boat has to watch a 10-minute safety video and take a 20-question boat safety test. However, what they don't teach you is what all the different signs and buoys mean out on the lake (some, but not all), how to dock and undock, and how to anchor. I guess the staff just assumed we knew how to do all this on our own. Fortunately, some of us had boating experience, but it wouldn't hurt for folks like me who needed a refresher. We ended up taking our rental boat north to Van Pugh North Park with the intention of grilling. Unfortunately, all of the grills were taken so we went south to Burton Mill Park. We were able to find an open grill here. Both Van Pugh North Park and Burton Mill Park have beaches, grills, and restrooms, both of which were fairly clean. Since our pontoon didn't have a toilet, the park's restrooms were important. If you rent a pontoon, it's good to know where the parks and restrooms are beforehand. A map is provided on the boat and you can also use your smartphone (we relied on Google Maps). We found a cove to anchor down at near Burton Mill Park, grilled, ate, drank, and played on the beach and in the water. It was nice and relaxing once we finally got settled down. All of the Aqua Sports Adventures employees I encountered were young and friendly. The company is located at Holiday on Lake Lanier (Holiday Marina) on the south end of Lake Lanier. It's situated just outside Lanier Islands Resort, so no, you don't have to pay a gate fee. There is a guardhouse to Holiday on Lake Lanier and they will direct you to Aqua Sports Adventures which has a spacious parking lot and restrooms. While not bad, given my better experiences with other boating companies, I'm not sure I would rent from these guys again. read more

This is long. If you rent from them take photos of everything before and after and check your credit card afterwards! We rented a 24' pontoon to go out on the lake. Everything went great. Dock people were great. From check in to check out went great. We followed everything they said do. Last thing was fill the boat with 9 gallons of fuel. Our forum was marked clear and our deposit was returned. (We were told we were good). Fast forward about an hour. I get a msg from my credit card that Aqua sports charged my card for for the second time. I called and was told that we had severely damaged one of the pontoons. I have 45 years of operating small boats and spent 9 years in the Navy. I told them there was no way I did anything to their boat. By this time the place was closed. Went back the next morning and first lie they told us the boat was in the shop and wasn't there. We spotted the boat across the way (inspected and took photos). Second lie they said that no one was there and that it would take several days to check into ( by tome a guy walked in and said it would take days). We told him that the spot welds had a lot of oxidation and broke several days before. The guy finally went and looked at the boat and agreed and said he would give us our money back. I check the credit card again and they had charged our deposit 3 Times. Three days have pasted and they have refunded us 2 deposits and still owe us for $500. When they found the damage they told the owner and she told the workers to charge my card again. This happened without contacting me at all. read more

Awful customer service! Olivia (manager) reached out to cancel our reservation due to rain forecasted and was very rude and condescending. She started to mimic my voice in a very discriminatory manor when I asked for a refund instead of a voucher. I simply wanted a refund and not a voucher for different dates since they were canceling and not myself. This business is in Georgia where it rains every day during the summer. This company uses weather to scam people into canceling your reservation and keeping your money and offering a voucher with hopes of you not utilizing the service. How could a business think it's ok to self cancel a reservation with out providing service and not offer a full refund? The customer should have a choice since services were not rendered and the cancelation was not initiated by the customer. " Please do not cause a scene. We are calling security to have you removed from the premises. " Yes. This actually happened. They claimed that they sent an email to us on Friday (boat day was following Monday) but no mention of the cancellation happened until an email arrived on Monday morning. Paid-up, rule-following, law-abiding customers are treated like common criminals. Not only that I would believe that the company positively relishes their ability to humiliate and abuse their customers. Consequently I personally cannot recommend or support this organization and it absolutely astounds me that they manage to continue operating a so-called business. On the other hand it is also our fault because we failed to read these reviews before booking. Apparently they've previously done this sort of thing to other people. The boat we rented was both extremely old and dirty. We complained but were told no refunds would be given. Out on the lake we found out the motor had a broken propeller. There was a spot where an old radio used to be that had since been removed and no USB port. One of the cabinets was broken and there was a huge tear in one of the seats. Most rental companies on Lanier get new boats each year. This place charges the same rate as the other companies for old used boats. It was like renting a 10 year old car......So bad. When we return the boat we complained again pointing out the motor was damaged and they should not be renting this boat out they blamed the boats poor condition on the Covid Virus. NOTE: This outfitter is under new management from the previous negative reviews. My girlfriend and I loved the idea of renting a boat one afternoon during our short vacation to Lake Lanier. As college students, we looked for a rental company which allows 21+ renters and provides relatively good value. Aqua Sports Adventures (ASA) is located within Holiday Marina less than 5min drive from the hotel where we stayed and offers great pricing on their website. We chose the 4hr "Runabout" Bayliner rental, a fun and FAST six person motorboat. Prior to arrival, you will need to complete their online safety course (quick and straightforward). Upon arrival, expect to sign extensive paperwork and receive a thorough orientation on the operation of the boat. All in all, we had a fantastic experience and look forward to returning! Important items to remember: -Certain buoys mark a "no wake zone" in which you must travel at very minimal speed. Leave yourself at least 10min at the end of your rental to make it from the edge of the no wake zone to the ASA dock -Ask for Hayden, one of ASA's dock attendants. He made an effort to help us (first time renters) feel comfortable and passed on some solid advice and tips -Speaking of tips, apparently it is proper etiquette to tip your dock attendant. Have $10 to $20 in cash on hand for this purpose and factor that into your cost calculations. We gave Hayden $10, but I'm sure with larger groups you should probably leave more accordingly. -Part of the pre-departure process is to walk around the boat and inspect it for damage (just like a car rental). THIS IS AN IMPORTANT STEP. I encourage you to take a few pictures of the boat before you take it out just in case of any damage disputes and have the dock attendant thoroughly check the propeller. Thankfully, ASA is less concerned with chipped paint, but rather more focused on structural or hull damage and the propeller. As long as you don't run into or over anything and keep the propeller up in shallow water, you should expect to get your full deposit back. -Gas is not included in the original charge, and is a cost you will incur upon returning the boat. At the time of this rental, boat gas was $3.99/gal and we spent a total of $32.08 on gas. Another item to factor into your cost considerations. -In my opinion, 2hrs is too little time out on the water. My girlfriend and I had a great time exploring the lake, its various islands, and beautiful lake front homes in the 4hr period we had the boat. You really can't get bored speeding along in these little motorboats, so I'm sure a full day rental would be just as fun. -Finally, SUNSCREEN. Trust me, even the most seasoned tanners will get burned out on the water on a sunny day. Hats are a risky move, when you crank up the speed that hat will fly off your head. I recommend sunglasses, plenty of sunscreen for multiple applications, and lots of water/powerade. Coolers are allowed on the boat. Thanks for a great time, ASA! One of those instances where I should have read the reviews for this place. If you Google them, you'll see that they have a 1-star review, full of people who had a similar experience to the one I had. D'oh! This was a classic case of responsible guy and friend rent waverunner, pay hefty deposit, guy and friend ride for a few hours without coming close to docking or running into anything, then try to return waverunner fully expecting all of our deposit back. Cue the needle on the record. The owner and his family are the most rude, unprofessional people I have ever had the displeasure of doing business with. They examined every iota of space on the waverunner and find some minuscule scratch UNDER the bumper. Turns out this must be a common scam, because another reviewer on Google had the same thing happen to them. So we can't get our large deposit back without forking over $200 bucks to cover the stupid scratch that we supposedly caused. Now I kind of want to key the thing so at least I could get my money's worth. No attempt at logic would work with this guy, and when I protested he started raising his voice at us! A grown man! So, lesson learned: if boating at Lake Lanier, PLEASE do yourself a favor and rent elsewhere or borrow from a friend. We rented a boat for Memorial Day and the lady who handled our reservation treated us incredibly poorly and unprofessionally. It was a rainy day in Atlanta with thunderstorms and it was impossible for us to get a call back from her. We ended up getting on the road 45 minutes late after finally learning that the weather on the lake was "good" and we would not be able to transfer out deposit to another date. Then when we were 10 minutes away we received a call saying that our rental had been given to someone else - because our reservation had been cancelled. We received 110 dollars back because they re rented our boat, ultimately costing me 170 dollars while they received a whopping 400 dollars for their 2 hour rental. I took my family out today and we rented a 21 foot pontoon boat. I was told to take photos of any damage and the guy assisting was quick to point out the damages. I obliged and took photos. Upon return of the rental, I was told that I was due to pay $150 for the damaged propeller. This was quite confusing as 1. There was no way to see damage as the propeller was in the water at the time of departure and 2. They were quick to only charge me $75 for damage when I started asking questions and insisting this was impossible. I am really disappointed in the service here. It's their word against yours and I am certain that the damage was pre-existing. Please inform your staff to do a walk through with the renter BEFORE the rental is taken out on the water. read more

I rented a 21 ft. pontoon and tube for my little sister's birthday via website. The boat included a lot of luggage space, outlet, aux cable, radio/cd player. The boat was clean and we didn't have any issues with it. From beginning to end .. everything was straight forward and quick. Take the DNR certification test online for all of those who will be driving and that will save you time. Our original boat rental was from 2-6pm but we got there around 1pm... checked in, checked out the boat, learned a few things and we set out around 1:30pm--- so, we got an extra 30 minutes !! They recommend everyone in your party to arrive 45 minutes prior to departure. (I'd recommend to come earlier just in case) EVERYONE we encountered was friendly and professional. From the people behind the counter to those at the dock... we felt welcomed. The gas was not included in the boat rental and I was anticipating a lot when we refueled... but it only came out to be $11.44. I believe their prices were a little over $3 per gallon. There are some nasty reviews about this place on the internet but our experience was just the opposite. We all had such a great time and loved the environment of this entire place. Loved this place! Price was affordable for full day during a holiday week. Pontoon was clean, comfortable, well taken care of and seemed new. Staff was friendly and efficient. They are thorough to make sure their merchandise doesn't get dinged and ruined by inexperienced boaters, to keep it nice for future customers. They charge a $500 refundable security deposit, and we got ours returned day off. Will definitely be renting from here again. Boat rental has Horrible management. Waited 1.5 hrs to get the boat. Thaw or boats are old and beaten up. They sent me out with a boat that had no power steering and when I returned and told them that one staff member said I can't drive a boat (I have bean on boats and driven them for many years) when I got upset that me, a customer was getting belittled by a staff member the staff member said " what are you going to do about it" like he wanted to fight. I rented 2x from them within a few days on Memorial Day week/weekend. The first rental was a 21' pontoon boat. The boat was in fairly poor condition. The boat originally came with a 90hp motor that had been replaced with a 60hp motor so was fairly underpowered. The motor would only run at full throttle for a minute or two before it would start sputtering/throbbing and the rpms would drop until you cut the throttle back to about 3/4 power. This was not due to cavitation as the boat ran fine for the first hour and then the issue developed, worsened, and would persist even at lower rpms until the engine was shut down or run at very low rpms for a few minutes. Changing the prop pitch did not make any difference. We debated returning the boat early but decided to simply limp around at low speed rather than blowing our entire afternoon with out of town guests since Aquasports was fully booked and no replacements were available. The boat was already underpowered so this meant we couldn't exceed about 10-12 mph for most of our rental time and tubing was pointless. The speedometer was also broken so we don't exactly know our top speed. I explained the issue when we returned the boat and they apologize but made no offer of any compensation. Between our rentals Aquasports called to inform us that our second rental was cancelled due to equipment breakdowns. Then they called back again to tell us we could have a boat after all because someone else had cancelled. The second rental was a 115hp runabout. This boat was a total piece of junk with broken seats and various other damage. This boat ran for about an hour and then failed to restart after we shut it down and swam for a while. We ended up calling for a pickup and one of the staff came out and put the boat through a priming process (never explained to us when we rented) and was able to restart it after a few tries. After that the boat started regularly but would knock and hammer and fail to shut off unless you turned the key off and on a few times. Aquasports offered to let us stay on the lake an extra hour but we had previous plans and so could not take advantage. They made no offer to discount the rental. Bottom line: The staff was nice but the equipment is junk. read more

DO NOT... I REPEAT... DO NOT RENT FROM THIS PLACE!!! They cannot guarantee you will have a boat rental. Had a rental scheduled Memorial Day weekend. Booked a three day stay at Lanier Islands in order to enjoy a day out on the water w friends and family. Got a call at 8pm the night prior saying rental not available. The manager, Kyle, was unsympathetic to disappointing your friends, family, and small children who were looking forward to being out on the water. The only solution they offered was to give you half off on another day's rental. They didn't offer to give a different type boat or to put you on a waitlist or even help you source another rental. In fact, when speaking to the manager to explain what it took to get up to the lake with planning and coordinating with multiple families, his (Kyle's) response was "You live in Atlanta so you'll be okay." There are several other boat rental places in the Lanier area and at least if you book through Harbor Landing and have accommodations, if there is a so called "malfunction" with your rental, they can compensate you with discounts on your stay or other amenities on their property. Read previous reviews on how Aqua Sports Adventures treat customers and complaints on rundown equipment before you book with this company. They really need a disclaimer on their website that they do not guarantee you will have a rental even though you book weeks in advance. read more

We had made reservations online and when we got there ..our boat and jet skii was available at the time of our reservation. The staff at Aqua Sport Adventures were very knowledgeable, and were very helpful! They told us the must sees on the lake, our orientation was simple and too the point and the boats were in good condition! My husband and I rented jet skis for 2 hours on Lake Lanier over the weekend. We agreed to pay the high price of the rental because we wanted to enjoy the lake. We were told we had to pay $1000 deposit each in case of damages which they told us would be removed from our credit card within 3 days. It took over a week for it to disappear! My husband was berated by several staff members about no wake going out of the marina, which he profusely apologized for. After returning the jet skis safe and sound we were ready to leave the dock. It was only then we were told we needed to pay for gas!! This was on top of the $150 each to rent a jet ski. We were not pleased about them not disclosing this information before we rented. My family and I rented a boat for second time this summer. We had a good time water skiing and time flew too quickly. The boats could have been serviced better which I'm told the dock boys are supposed to check for things not working and fixed those items. It is expensive to rent but think of the fun you and your family will have in the meantime!!!! Aqua Sports is about the only place to rent boats for a decent price but they also have jet skis and wave runners which we haven't tried yet. read more

we were visiting from out of town. we decided to go and rent a boat to ski since it was nice outside, we went there and got a boat for the day. Kyle was so helpful and nice. We rented a tube and wake board too. it was a great experience. read more

Do not do business with this guy. I called to purchase an outboard motor. He charged my credit card immediately and said the motor would be here in less than 10 days. On the 13th day I called; there was no answer and the voice mailbox was full. After numerous calls over several days I got someone. Bottom line, they told me they couldn't get the motor and couldn't credit my card for the charge. They suggested I dispute the charge with the credit card company to recover my money. read more

The underlings here were friendly and helpful, so I'm giving 2 stars. The owners were extremely rude and are probably purposefully ripping people off. If you visit the dock with their boats...especially if you're thinking about getting a waverunner...take a close look before doing so. Go down the line of waverunners and examine the front bumpers. It's not much of an exaggeration to say many of them are practically duct-taped on. There's a reason for this: 1) group A of drunken frat boys rents waverunner 1. They ram it into a dock somewhere, damaging the bumper and the fiberglass under the bumper. 2) group A returns waverunner 1, the owner and/or his son screams and berates them and charges them mucho dinero for repairs. 3) aqua sports adventures "fixes" the waverunner by drilling a new hole in the bumper and insecurely reattaching it. 4) group B of responsible adults, mostly engineers, rents waverunner 1. they're asked to sign off on the damages already existing. they proceed to enjoy it on the lake, never docking or approaching anything besides water. 5) by the time 4 hours of riding around and jumping wakes is over, the water has dislodged the poorly-attached bumper 6) group B returns the waverunner. owner and/or son screams and berates group B because the front bumper is hanging off, and (gasp!) look at all this fiberglass damage that's under the bumper! you obviously rammed something! the damage report YOU signed doesn't mention any damage to the fiberglass on the front! 7) profit. read more
